Free from hate, judgement, worry and crime
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Crypto Crime is getting Worse, what do we do? on: April 30, 2019, 10:05:08 PM
https://news.yahoo.com/cryptocurrency-thefts-fraud-hit-1-211446327.html

In Q1 alone of 2019 there was $356m in theft of digital currencies from exchanges and scams while losses from fraud hit 851m. This number includes the QuadrigaX scam which accounts to about $134m in total losses.

What can we do to help stop these from happening and getting worse?
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Scammers running free on: April 30, 2019, 09:26:27 PM
I read an article that would say otherwise about investors feeling more bullish https://www.ccn.com/this-billionaire-investor-more-bullish-crypto-bitcoin

It would make sense that those that side with compliance hiring companies like ciphertrace to help wtih AML will give investors more confidence
124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto film brings Bitcoin to Hollywood on: April 29, 2019, 07:27:23 AM
I recently had a non-crypto friend tell me how terrible the film was.... can we please get something that is inspiring and educating to the masses? I mean the positive thing is that it def has people talking
125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mass Adoption = Instant mobile transactions on: April 29, 2019, 07:23:29 AM
Many projects are working on fast and easy payment solutions.
It has to be user friendly to be excepted by ordinary people.
When big merchants start accepting crypto there is good chance for fast mass adoption of it.

I agree with you. I also think that there needs to be the element of ease and that would be an extension of having an app excursively on mobile devices. Similar to how wechat and venmo work which is exactly what Elixxir seems to be doing but put the two things people use the most. Payments and messaging.
126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: E-cash inventor David Chaum making a comeback on: April 29, 2019, 07:02:45 AM
I believe that bitcoin and Elixxir will have two different use cases. Bitcoin will become the new gold standard where as Elixxir is a privacy platform with a messaging dapp. We can say it is "better' than bitcoin because it adds a few missing ingredients people today would request in a full fledged payments app
127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Would Ethereum remain the number 1 smart-contract platform in 2020 and onward? on: April 24, 2019, 11:57:42 PM
more projects are being built on and supported for the Ethereum blockchain. also looks to be the most decentralized out of all the other platforms
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Privacy coins meeting regulations on: April 24, 2019, 11:54:25 PM
the governments are not going to fly with privacy coins without compliance so idk how they are going to work around that.
129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Binance Chain a treat to Ethereum? on: April 23, 2019, 05:35:36 PM
two totally different use cases in my opinion. Binance chain will be strong but Etherum has the use of smart contracts
130  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Response to FATF Regarding Regulation & Monitoring of Virtual Assets on: April 23, 2019, 05:33:01 PM
This is just the first wave of the FATF regulations I think we will see this year

132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The biggest Crime in cryptocurrency on: April 19, 2019, 11:28:58 PM
I feel like either the Monero kidnapping or Quadriga scandal as stories but as a whole i feel like sim swapping is some of the biggest crime that still is happening. Have you ever had a look at CipherTrace anual report? It's insane the details they find that are happening
133  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you use "report" button during posting ? on: April 18, 2019, 06:36:44 PM
Most likely OP not sure where he/she have to make post. So in that case you can help them by report to moderators. So moderators will move the thread on appropriate sections.
Also you can send a PM to OP asking him to move his thread to the appropriate board, so he doen't start complaining as to why his thread was moved.
If he doesn't respond respond to your request, you can then report it to a moderator.

That's good to know for future reference thank you. I always wonder where to put topics about privacy or general blockchain topics since it might not fit in Bitcoin or altcoin
134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BOLT Labs Raises $1.5 Million for Lightning Privacy on: April 17, 2019, 10:31:46 PM
This is huge and I look forward to seeing both the scalability and adoption over time
135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Cowboy Binance Wants to Play by the Rules on: April 17, 2019, 10:30:07 PM
http://fortune.com/2019/04/15/binance-regualtion/

Compliance focused strategy seems to be leading the way with Binance's recent partnership announcement with cyber security and blockchain forensics firm CipherTrace. Fraud and money laundering are real and if we can somehow avoid it at all costs that seems fair to me, what are your thoughts?

For Binance to play by the rules will create more slow-work in the world of cryptocurrency. Although fighting money laundry is good for our economy but will defeat the purpose of cryptocurrency in my opinion. If these rules are not strict, then let it be as they intend, maybe those fraud and money laundry individuals will find another root.

I would like to know what everyone means by 'slow work' I dont think it will slow any of the processing but instead cut out the major players in money laundering. I doubt Ciphertrace plans to analyze every single purchase for people.. they're looking for suspicious activity overtime
136  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you like Virtual reality? on: April 17, 2019, 10:24:44 PM
I still think it's a bit clunky in terms of tech rn but I really like the experience. I think the paint feature is one of my favorites and watching movies too
137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Explaining Elixxir's (David Chaum's project) dApp Ecosystem on: April 17, 2019, 10:17:49 PM
https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/beb66f/short_video_explaining_elixxirs_david_chaums/

dApps on Elixxir run off-chain to avoid running into performance issues all while experiencing the benefits of running on-chain without slowing the main chain down. the platform looks promising and stacked imo. thoughts?
138  Other / Off-topic / Re: 8 Things You Must Have Before You Quit Your Job on: April 16, 2019, 10:04:42 PM
this is so cool to think about and read, thank you. I would say make sure to sell things that don't fulfill you rather than pay for an empty apartment or storage unit you have to pay tons for
139  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: CipherTrace CEO serves as Bitcoin Expert Witness in $1.4M Darkweb Case on: April 16, 2019, 09:55:11 PM
I believe this is a old recycled story because I am pretty sure that Dave was the first ever Bitcoin Expert witness
140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Cowboy Binance Wants to Play by the Rules on: April 16, 2019, 08:48:34 PM
my question then becomes should we just disregard all of the scams and large amount of funds that are being funneled and stolen from innocent people? I just find companies like ciphertrace giving more people hope and confidence that they're funds are safe. if we want more people to use crypto they need to feel safe.
