121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What should I mine? on: July 25, 2013, 08:44:21 PM
i tend to go with the ones with a more knowledgeable dev team behind it. Usually you can tell how skilled they are by the look of the website Wink anoncoin is looking damn good in that dept.
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: !!!Should invest in Cloudcoin!!! - read my opinion on: July 25, 2013, 08:40:22 PM
You have a lot of Cloudcoins, ok we get it

My hash power is 150 kh/s. I only have 523 CDC all in all.
I have been mining it near from start and I will mine it in the future as well. I just eant to support the coin, since I see that it ha a good team and development.

The fact that they can afford to give each person 500 cloud coins shows that the coin is most likely destined to fail. I mean, don't get me wrong, I grabbed the 500 coins too on the off-chance I'm wrong, but I don't have high hopes.

We'll see what happens in time though. For now I'm just kicking myself for not already selling my anoncoins. Tongue

ha! I was a click away from selling my ANONcoins when they hit cryptsy but decided to hold out a few hours and drop! well now i am totally not selling so hopefully it will spike back up *fingers crossed*

I've been mining here for the past 24 hours as well as idling in their IRC channel. Owners seems nice and helpful. They have already found a few blocks. The site is beautiful and servers seem very fast and stable. Far beyond your run of the mill mining pool. It's great to see someone actually put work in to designing a site.

Couldn't of said it better myself Smiley 200 here we come!
131  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Setting up 7970 with NVIDIA motherboard? on: July 05, 2013, 06:44:51 AM
Download CPU-Z (>C<PU-Z).

Look at Mainboard tab to find out what your mainboard really is.

If it doesn't know, then look carefully on the board for the manufacturers part number and google it.

Visit that vendors product page and download the newest drivers. I have a suspicion that your problems all started when you removed some chipset drivers or something equally as important. Keep in mind that a mainboards chipset is what controls the operation of the PCI-e slots.

Do a fresh windows install and then install the mainboard drivers. Then install the AMD graphics drivers. I would suggest maybe not using the beta as it just another place something can go wrong. 12.8 seems to be a pretty well regarded version.

Going to actually do just that with a fresh install and check out the CPU-z to see what it actually is when I get more free time. Thank you for the advice!

NForce chipset boards are well before the time of the 7970. Your board might not be compatible.

hmmm..I guess if the fresh install of everything doesnt work then that could be the main issue at hand. At the moment I installed it on the older motherboard withought NForce where I installed catalyst 12.8 and 2.7sdk and have it working at 550 kh/s at the moment. Nowhere near 700plus where I would like it but until I can do some more testing its better to have at 550 then zero Smiley  In the end I would like to put it back on the Nvidia board if possible as it has two pci 16x slots and was hoping to have two 7970's but only time will tell. Thanks for the help!
132  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Setting up 7970 with NVIDIA motherboard? on: July 04, 2013, 06:44:10 AM
ok here it goes :

I just bought a used Sapphire 7970 and am trying to install it onto a older pc with looks to be some Nvidia fans connected to the Motherboard and maybe a chip as well. I pulled everything out of the case this time around and bought a AX1200 to get me started. I plugged the new GPU into the motherboard, attached DVI and started up just fine even with no other GPU attached. Of course it did not recognize but gave me funky desktop size until I went and installed catalyst 13.6 beta 2 as is on my other machine working AOK. Opened cgminer and everything i tried came up with HW errors so am thinking because it is a 32 bit maybe I need to go back to 12.8 and 2.7sdk and decided a uninstall of all drivers would be needed.

I then noticed a bunch of NVIDIA drivers and misc programs and thought maybe they were interfering so maybe an uninstall would do the trick on everything. Upon deleting NVIDIA and AMD drivers/catalyst i restarted and got nothing but one big black screen. no startup logo, info, nothing. I tried some other working OS hard drives and same thing with a black screen but did sound like computer might be doing something.

I then added an older NVIDIA GPU onto the 2nd x16 port along with the 7970 beside it and was able to get the computer to start back up when the DVI cable went to the NVIDIA. System then did a restore to be able to load properly. Now I am assuming because of the NVIDIA fans maybe chips, etc on the motherboard deleting all of those NVIDIA programs/drivers maybe wasnt a good idea. So upon that restore it might of patched what i deleted for the mean time? Now when I try to install any type of Catalyst it does not recognize the 7970 only the Nvidia which the monitor is connected to. If i connect DVI to 7970 I just get black screen. The 7970 fans/lights are on and moving so that is a good sign but now I am not sure where to go from here.

Should I take another drive and install with a fresh windows 7 after reformat and go from there? side note when i tried using other working OS 7 hard drives connected to NVIDIA GPU it was unable to start but the original HD would. Now I am thinking it definitely needs some type of NVIDIA program to even run this motherboard?

Any help or ideas on how to move forward is greatly appreciated! not a noob but by far no whiz kid..thank you!

134  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Pre-Buy Question for Sapphire Radeon Vapor-X HD 7970 GHz OC 3GB on: June 30, 2013, 08:36:36 AM
Was hoping anyone could help with a little advice on if I should buy this card for $300 used :

Radeon Vapor-X HD 7970 GHz OC 3GB

http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-DL-DVI-I-SL-DVI-D-PCI-Express-11197-12-40G/dp/B008PQAE98/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1372285900&sr=8-2&keywords=sapphire+radeon+7970

I have read the GHZ editions seems to cause a lot of problems and am curious if anyone has any recent experience with using them for Bitcoin as well as scrypt mining and what type of PSU power you will need for one of these? two?

Also am I going to need to BIOS flash this to get 700+ speeds since it is a GHZ edition? I have a 650w PSU running 1 x GIGABYTE 7970 and am curious if I will need to upgrade to a 850plus to get both working in same pc rig? Thanks for any help or advice in amping up my hashpower Smiley

136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why would anyone use BTC to buy LTC? on: June 29, 2013, 06:36:32 AM
The same reason people use Fiat to buy BTC is the same reason people use BTC or Fait to buy LTC.  There are many vendors starting to accept LTC.

And let's face it.  If your really going to base value on the amount of places that accept your currency, then BTC and every other Cryptocurrency are totally worthless, as 99.99999% of places don't accept anything but fiat.  It would be good for everyone using Cryptocoins to get on the same page.  It's Crypto (tiny) vs Fiat (HUGE).  We don't need to be thinking any cryptocurrency is better then the other until 1 or a few are globally accepted as a type of currency.  Next we will have Paypal customers jumping on these forums saying "Why would you buy crypto crap when Paypal is accepted everywhere??"

I personally prefer alt-coins, but I am hoping BTC actually takes off and is accepted as a global currency.  I don't wish for it's fall, or for any alt-coins to take over as the dominant coin.   Not sure why others can't do the same.

well said!! Smiley
