122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Decline in listening hosts on: May 29, 2012, 11:02:17 PM
The number of nodes is not a accurate representation of the popularity or growth.
I'm a miner but I only open the Bitcoin-QT once a day to download blocks and then I immediately close it.  It's open for approximately 90 seconds of any given day.
similar deal here. I only open it once a week to update it or to send transactions.

It looks like your upset because you cant mine and get what people think is free money?
123  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Paying 6.9% per week... small accounts welcome. on: May 29, 2012, 09:57:57 PM
does the week start when you get our deposit?

the week starts and ends at 21:00:00 monday UTC.

partial weeks are paid proportionately in half-hour blocks.

eg. if your deposit confirms at 21:30:00 monday then you'll get paid for 167.5 hours (24 * 7 - 0.5) on that first week and then for full weeks after that.

sounds fair. PM sent

125  Economy / Goods / Re: be back soon... on: May 29, 2012, 07:37:18 PM
Received my 1BTC coin today. I took some photos of it too.

Didnt have any currency coins but I did find a few no value tokens from an old arcade and park.

The middle of the coin is reflective like a mirror but not at every angle.

In this picture you can see the reflective middle very well.

127  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] BuyBIT - Unofficial .bit registrar on: May 28, 2012, 10:36:42 PM
the problem with .bit domains is that it is hard to access them.  I figured it out but it involved adding another DNS server, which is weird since, if I have a namecoin client running I have all the info in its blockchain and I should be able to pull the info from there.  If anyone has some experience working with firefox extensions it should be possible to make something like the TOR .onion domains extension.
In case anyone missed the thread, here is a guide on how to use foxyproxy a FF extension. http://dot-bit.org/How_To_Configure_Foxyproxy. I believe the guide was written by khal.

This is most interesting!

Unfortunately, Armory code is extremely well-commented, but there's not a lot of top-level documentation for using it.  Again with the priorities...most users are using Armory instead of developing with it, so I haven't spent much time on the developer documentation.   However, there is a lot of example code in the extras/sample_armory_code.py file, which shows a whole bunch of different ways to access the armoryengine tools from python.  Loading & querying the blockchain, reading wallets, scanning for balances, iterating over all blocks/txs/txins/txouts.  It needs to be cleaned up a bit, but obviously it is usable since Armory is built with it.

Nice, thank you for taking the time to respond.

I am up for this, i guess it is time to get over python forcing me to indent...

I will take a look early next week and send you a mail or two.

Just out of interest is your username "e to the i pi"?

I keep reading it as ethiopia Smiley

cheers,

steve
me to but now that you say "e to the i pi" and I look at his avatar that's what it has to be. Now it makes sense.
129  Economy / Securities / Re: (GLBSE) TYGRR-P or TYGRR.P 6.5% weekly uninsured pass though bond to BTCST on: May 23, 2012, 09:13:03 PM
No we put up a buy offer at 1.02 per share and automagically it will get filled after dividends were paid by goat.
That's how I understand he plans to do it as well, just buy up all bids down to 1.02.
The only reason you might want to continually F5 is if you want to reinvest the dividend between when it gets payed out but before he does the weekly buy.

Good Point. Dividends should be paid before shares are given out so current holders have time to reinvest.
130  Economy / Securities / Re: (GLBSE) TYGRR-P or TYGRR.P 6.5% weekly uninsured pass though bond to BTCST on: May 22, 2012, 10:39:26 PM
Looking on GLBSE it shows the asking price at 1.06 plus a fee of 8 btc the first time you purchase a type of share. Why is everyone talking 1.02?
if/when goat releases more shares he said they would be at 1.02BTC/share
131  Economy / Securities / Re: (GLBSE) TYGRR-P or TYGRR.P 6.5% weekly uninsured pass though bond to BTCST on: May 22, 2012, 06:17:08 PM
once you hold the bond it will last forever!

you get 6.5% each week, there is no buy back silliness.

yes this will kill all the other PPT stuff...

If you pay more than 1BTC, you won't get 6.5% per week. You'll earn 0.065 BTC per week per share, so if you pay more than 1BTC per share you will make less than 6.5% dividends per week.

the first week will be lower, but after that it will be 6.5%  if you do the math, the furth you go out in time the closer you get to 6.5%

No offense, but I don't see what you're saying. There might be some aspect of this I'm not seeing. Are you paying a fixed return per share, or will you return 6.5% of the actual value of share (average of bid + ask or something). Let's pick a big number to make the differences obvious.

Scenario:
The shares sell for 2BTC each. I have 200 BTC, and purchase 100 shares. The first week I receive 6.5BTC dividend, a 3.75% return on my 200BTC. The second week, I get a 6.5BTC dividend, again a 3.75% return on my 200BTC investment. The numbers don't converge, I'll always be receiving a 6.5BTC return on my 200BTC investment.

Is that not how this is going to run?

Thanks for clarifying it.

those numbers are true but put it this way. The bond is only (and always) worth 1BTC. Say you buy 50bonds at 100BTC well you can try to sell them higher but you can always sell them back to goat at 1BTC. No matter what you pay for the bond your always getting 6.5% of their true value, not 6.5% of what you pay to acquire the bond.

In your scenario your paying 200BTC for 100 bonds which are valued at 100BTC. (each bond = 1 BTC)

134  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] MORE Pirate Pass Through Bonds! on: May 21, 2012, 02:50:34 PM
I don't know if it's all these pirate pass trough offers of this week-end, but men, the PPT bonds are heading down :/

Just like when I wanted to cash in  :/
its the all the new pirate pass offers and that they sold 6000bonds by mistake flooding the market.
135  Economy / Lending / Re: 3500 BTC, 2 yr loan on: May 20, 2012, 04:50:36 PM
It does seem like the lenders would be better off buying a mini rig with that kind of money (if someone covers all 3500), or just buying mining bonds.
This is different from the lender investing in a RIG or a mining company because it doesn't depend on difficultly or price of BTC. The lender knows exactly how much he/she will be getting over the next 2 years, with no fluctuation.

This is about the same as a bank loan as mentioned earlier in the thread. A large part of bitcoins is not using the banks is it not? I think it would be interesting and more appropriate to have the loan in bitcoins because I will be getting bitcoins from mining, provided the lender doesn't want to be paid back in cash I wont have to convert the coins to cash.
136  Economy / Securities / Re: (GLBSE) TYGRR-P or TYGRR.P 6.5% weekly uninsured pass though bond to BTCST on: May 20, 2012, 01:36:24 PM
The contract on GLBSE mentions 5% dividends, while this thread mentions 6.5%. Which one is it?
And thanks! Looks interesting to say the least Smiley
I believe its from the old bond which became this.

I was liking 5%/wk and 1/3 insured more but this should do find. It will be hard to beat these rates outside of investing directly with pirate
137  Economy / Lending / 3500 BTC, 2 yr loan on: May 19, 2012, 09:22:48 PM
I'm looking for a loan to expand my mining operations. This is a long term loan lasting 2 years, I will be paying 10% APR. Payments will be quarterly, for a total of 8 even payments. I will be purchasing FPGAs with this loan. I have free electricity but only to a point, the low power usage of FPGAs will assure that I stay under the limit and guarantee me profits. Id prefer no more then 7 lenders with a minimum deposit of 500 bitcoins but Ill consider making exceptions.

I will provide ID and whatever else is requested. Feel free to ask questions. These are some past trades Iv completed on this forum, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
138  Economy / Securities / Re: [ANN] TYGRR-P or TYGRR.P BTCST (pirate) pass though bonds. 5% a week. on: May 19, 2012, 01:25:34 PM
If we wanted out would you buy back our bonds?
139  Economy / Securities / Re: [ANN] TYGRR-P or TYGRR.P BTCST (pirate) pass though bonds. 5% a week. on: May 19, 2012, 12:58:43 PM
You already do this with tygrr-bank and you only offer 2.5% (which dropped from 3%). Your trying to steal PPT thunder. I dont see the point in this. 5% a week with 1/3 insured are some nice looking numbers. How many bonds are you selling?
140  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Reward for Good Grades on: May 19, 2012, 02:19:24 AM
A student should have enough drive to earn grades on there own. The incentive is already there a good education, good job, and good life. However, this would encourage students... bah kids in the US.... I didnt realize blackboard was used worldwide.
