so we can outsmart the bots by selling high, and buy back low?

If you can move the market enough to make it seem like a break out, then yeah, why not.

124  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FREE Miners, BFL, antMiner, KNC, all makes.. Free on: August 10, 2014, 06:15:32 PM
Ebay is an extremely shady company when working with bitcoin related stuff. They will always side with the buyer and there were cases, where the buyer got the goods and said he didn't. The seller had tracking info and everything, still buyer got money back + the miner...

Stay away!
125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stop using Kraken on: August 10, 2014, 06:12:01 PM
It is very easy to open a thread and make accusations while not posting any kind of proof.

Must suck to be that fool that buys at 690+ every time.

It's so odd. At 688 they don't buy but when someone starts pumping those same people panic buy at 695 only to see the price drop back to 688 after that. And then they panic sell of course.
It's always the same. Why do people still fall for it?

Most of the time those panic buy spurts are due to bots anticipating a break out. So, that type of behavior is actually to be expected.

Yes that combined with the strong fear of missing out. There would be no tops if nobody buys there Wink

Do you guys think that the rates will change on the 17th? dicebitco.in is full, so not much threat from that campaign.

I don't think the rates will change (at least, not to the higher range). Besides dicebitco.in being full (as you say), they haven't yet paid out, just promised to (as far as I know), but that's quite a different beast... Cool

They have put 10 BTC into escrow, bitcoininformation and dooglus are the escrows Wink
128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Anonymity so important to you? on: August 10, 2014, 06:05:00 PM
Since people have a right to privacy and an expected right to it without interference from another party
Although in a court case that gets overruled by a warrant or interacting with others  Wink
Still in general freedom to access information and to form opinions independently is why anonymity is important.

Also to purchase some goods that might seem embarrassing if others knew about it ^^.
Or medication etc in the future those type of private use cases where you wouldn't want others to know.
We do have a right to those privacies. We also need them. But the NSA and the government just want everything. Ugh. >.>

The worst thing is, if they try to convince people that they need to do that because of TERRORISM, and righteous people who do nothing wrong have nothing to fear. lol
I am not so sure about this. I think there are a lot of people who value their privacy a lot. I think the reason many people were so willing to give up privacy after 9/11 was because a major act of terrorism had just occurred and people saw the threat as being very real. I think a 9/11 type of event is really a very rare type of event, and the damage that occurred really could not happen again due to change in policies (not allowing even small knives on planes, not assuming that a hijacking is intended to get a ransom) and there have been a couple of failed hijackings over the years.

Isn't this generally called brainwashing? People were told that they are in immediate threat (they weren't statistically) and thus would have to do this to save their lives.

How many 9/11 were there in the last 10 years? How many traffic accidents?
9/11 is being used as reason to remove freedom, its brainwashing indeed. Statistically you have a much higher risk of being killed in a traffic accident than in a terror attack. Despite capturing 80% of the internet traffic worldwide it didn't help to prevent the Boston killings, none of these surveillance tools actually make us more secure - it makes us more vulnerable.

Exactly. Still people are cool with all the added security following 9/11 even today. It is really sad that a nation of >300m people can't stand up for themselves.
129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin via SMS? on: August 10, 2014, 05:56:33 PM
Coinkite has released an pay BTC per SMS service. Works great worldwide!

Yeah, but can you buy BTC there by just sending them a text message, pay for the BTC via that message and then get your BTC. OP wants to buy BTC and pay for them using his regular phone bill, yet everyone suggests services that allow him to send BTC which he didn't ask for Smiley

Not yet, but I could see coinkite implementing somehting like this in cooperation with coinbase ect
130  Other / Off-topic / Re: karma on: August 10, 2014, 05:55:18 PM
If you do good things you won't get something good back everytime but it's more likely some good things may come to you.
If you do bad things you won't everytime get something bad in return but it's more likely something bad may happen because of your behaviour.

Isn't that what religions/cults tell you so that you donate your wealth to them too?
And after doing something bad, they could "heal" you from it, obviously for some donations Wink

This whole concept is nice to manipulate people...

Yeah, some poeple made the right decision in buying some Stellar shortterm. Still I don't really see the added value just now. It will come from trading things ontop of Stellar, not stellars itself.

which exchange is the price from?

http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/stellar/#markets

Justcoin and BX Thailand

thanks, i found this chart: http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/period-charts.php?period=today&resolution=hour&pair=str-btc&market=justcoin

Yes, the coinmarketcap.com charts are lagging behind. For uptodate infos you need to visit other charting sites.

If I could not find the sender I would invest in shares of klyemax studios.  Cheesy

All kidding aside I would try to find the sender and if I could not find them I would invest it.

Hahah, did you invest in him? That story was incredible, wasn't it? I mean it was money he raised from freaking investors, for crying out loud!!! It's one thing to gamble away your own money, but the money from people who trusted you with their money.... Never!

No, I stayed far away from that. That was a train wreck that anyone that spent time at Just Dice could see coming. It was entertaining to watch for sure.

yeah, a guy that handles money so badly (gambling ect) that he gets homeless wants to run a company. What could go wrong.

Wow, so did he really went homeless after this? The last thing I know was that he indeed tried to pay back investors (which is futile) but still hangs around in his favourite bar, where he tried to get the waitress to strip for his company. Did he really lose his apartment?

He was homeless before all this happend. He begged for days on just-dice so that he can get food and shelter. Then he somehow got a job but still gambled away his loans.

It is a very tragic story, but I have no feelings for the investors, because it was a disaster in the making.

Because one of these days the price will move upwards past 600 to never return.

Bitcoin has become a real snoozefest which I think is extremely healthy. We are at circa 590 and bored witless. A few more weeks of this and the weak hands will have sold. Then the next move up can begin.

When exactly are these weak hands done selling? I think i read that same sentence at least 50 times by now over the last 1.5 years.

And the price did great in the last 1.5 years Wink

I think the argument is bullshit too, though

Look at this wallet        https://blockchain.info/address/1KiVwxEuGBYavyKrxkLncJt2pQ5YUUQX7f
I'm doing something wrong or I can not imagine how to make such unreal amount of BTC.
 You have any ideas? Huh

That's incredible! Isn't that just some kind of early adopter? I guess it's impossible to get that many coins nowadays as a single person, unless you are scamming someone. Man, the scams won't ever stop, will they?

Lol. What are you talking about?  There are plenty ways to get that much BTC without scamming. And I bet no scammer will ever be so successful (at these prices)

- either it is an exchange/service address
- early adopter
- Fund that bought them
- Rich person that bought them

I am never actively promoting BTC to anyone. Sure if someone wants to discuss bitcoin with me, I will give him honest answers, and not the diluted answers you will get from Bitcoin followers.

BT will end like BTCarbs and the people promoting it have literally no shame.
140  Economy / Economics / Re: Is 1 bitcoin a decent and good investment? on: August 10, 2014, 05:37:19 PM
I think it is, but you should only invest what you can afford to lose.

I agree with this
Do not push yourself to investing, you have to think about what if you fail to make profits.

Not only that, you need to look at the scenario where you invested money is GONE. 0$perBTC. IF you feel comfortable handling such a situation, then go on Smiley
