Does anyone have guidance for setting up mastercoin advisor in Mac OS X and/or Ubuntu?

Thanks for the offer, though as an "investor" this is slightly annoying. Why do you feel you need to separate yourself from the rest of those who may be interested in pursuing the outstanding bounty? As someone presumably qualified, why not jump in with your skills and either A) make bitcoin better by further developing this mastercoin protocol layer or B) make bitcoin better by illuminating the supposed folly of a mastercoin layer (or anything like it in the future) and thereby protect it? If JR and the board want to take you up on your offer, obviously some like myself won't/can't stand in the way, but it appears JR's feelings on this issue were made clear earlier in the thread. I can appreciate your enterprising nature, however, I feel its distracting to the goal at hand. Personally, I'd much rather see talented devs contribute to this project regardless if its favorable or not, just to provably show whether or not this can work and sustain itself. It's not like 40 BTC is going to change your life today anyways...why not just jump in and contribute if you have something to offer? Your arrogance is sickening. Mastercoin is a commercial endeavor, it got more than $500k in funding. But you're annoyed by the fact that people aren't willing to work for free. WTF is wrong with you? BTW I think accepting retep's offer (or a similar offer) is the only way to save Mastercoin from failure. But you can keep thinking that trusting design to amateurs is a good idea. People like J. R. Willet and ripper234 might be good software developers, but it's quite obvious they didn't have any experience in designing decentralized cryptographic systems and protocols for them. On the other hand, retep is one one few people who know Bitcoin protocol inside-out (not just how to use it, but design considerations which go into it). I'm afraid you misunderstood - at no point did I imply he should work for free. I am simply questioning why he felt a need to work outside of the already established framework to utilize the 500k in funding. I'm pretty certain if he just did what he proposed, he'd avail himself to a large portion of the current and future amounts made available anyways. Or maybe I just had too many beers. I'll stay quiet..carry on.

I've got other paid and unpaid work competing for my time. Fair enough..I only hope at some point the potential of MasterCoin will be a bigger lure than a guaranteed 40 BTC to bring you into the mix.

I am looking to setup an offline wallet using Armory and an offline netbook running ubuntu 13.04. When I go to the Armory website, there is a lot of great information, but several of the links are also broken. Specifically, I am looking for an installer that I can download to flash drive and install on my netbook. The one provided for ubuntu does not include all the various python dependencies so the install cannot complete offline. If there is not an all-in-one offline installer for ubuntu 13.04, is there an all-dependencies .deb somewhere?
I see Armory will be coming out with a "major upgrade" soon but I'm not sure I want to wait too much longer to move some of my stuff offline.
Thanks in advance to anyone in the community that may be able to point me in the right direction!

I cancelled my order for a Mercury ordered 7/5/13 order 33xx.

ROI doesn't look so good for October delivery.
Anyone else consider asking for refund?
I just sent an email asking for a refund on my mercury - for the record, I would have been better off buying over 25 BTC at the time (will only buy me about 17 BTC at today's prices). I'll update on how long the process takes or if there are any issues. I'm guessing the number of refund requests they receive may go up over the next week or so. I am a little bummed that I'll be forgoing the mining experience with KnC's asics.

Unless I'm missing something it sure looks like bitminter allows merged mining for namecoins...

I've just put a new version of the http://mastercoin-explorer.com online. This version actually has some useful information. For one it can approximate balances for a given address and show what kind of transactions where done by them. As always this is an initial version of this functionality so don't expect any miracles J.R.: I spend way more time on this then I originally planned. So to be honest I hope there will still be a bounty for something like this even if I build it already; not that that was the reason for me doing it to begin with Excellent! This looks great and its the first version that has correctly calculated my total purchase amount. There definitely needs to be some bounty for you.

Yeah, I don't see this as premine either. JR put in his investment very early in the month to maximize his take of bonus mastercoins. However, this left the rest of the month for anyone to contribute and buy coins. Technically, had enough purchased coins, his percentage could have also ended up as 1%. Either way, nothing I've come across about JR and his viewpoints screams "nefarious". If this coin develops and performs as intended, not just mastercoin but also bitcoin stands to gain considerably. Don't let this be a distraction from the other issues, like whether or not the escrows will function properly.

For various reasons, I was curious to know the total number of MasterCoins purchased.
In case anyone else is interested, I come up with: 554297.26590274 (MTC?)
As expected, I believe JR currently holds the largest share at roughly 32%.

There's someone else utilizing the MasterCoin name for their completely unrelated bitcoin product - a sort of credit card like representation of a bitcoin address: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1lmm8m/kickstarter_cryptocard_by_mastercoin_a_physical/This seems to be a totally unnecessary product and I'm hopeful the MasterCoin project will totally overshadow this, but just wanted to point out things like this may create initial confusion about MasterCoin as there will now be three separate entities using the same term.

So I guess I might as well post these here: I previously designed a logo for Mastercoin figuring it needed one: And now I created a vector package people can download and use: (click the image to download the vector file)I'm offering these images in vector format to Public DomainAnd to top it all off, I made an animated intro video using the new logo: https://vimeo.com/73592269Tips of any sort are greatly appreciated! My address: 13x2dka6tVhjsNNNomGJjUPi2iJQCb67bw Depending on what you guys think, I can probably help out more with explanation videos/ branding. Nice job! Could be wrong and hate to be that guy, but shouldn't the bitcoin B be rotated to the right instead of left?

I've been working on some proof of concept code for Mastercoin since there is not much around yet. I decided to put my work to some practical purpose and made a quick page that uses the Mastercoin libraries to run through the blockchain and count how much coins were bought by a specific address. A huge disclaimer: This is not the official code and things are often guestimated. For instance the whitepaper does not mention which time to use as basis for the extra coins for early adopters. I've opted in to use the time your transaction got added to a block but the reference spec might change this, although I'm not sure how. You can check how many Mastercoins you bought here. Full transparency; IPs for visits site are currently logged by the webserver software. If you don't want your ip in combination with your bitcoin address logged don't use it. Cool! Thanks. I'm guessing then you are now able to provide the total number of MasterCoins purchased. Curious to know..how many?
|
|
|
Also note, you will only see the mastercoins if you look at the transaction on the 1Exodus transactions page. Currently, the greasemonkey script does not allow you to see them when viewing the transaction in your wallet.

Nice work on the wiki! I swear I checked there just an hour ago and it was blank. Appreciate your contributions with pushing things forward Ripper!

anyone know if any PSUs allow to be on without being controlled by a motherboard? Anything besides using paperclips, etc? Something civil? A paper clip is cheaper but: http://www.ebay.com/itm/151106818357And for those previously clueless about these paperclip shenanigans, here's a decent video: http://tinyurl.com/lelywgv
