121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 21, 2013, 11:44:39 PM
Bitcoinorama mentioned "ghosts in the system", remember ?
Now I had a visit.
I changed the hosting location to another room. I guess they don't like this ?

I shut down miners via "shutdown -h now", then PSU off, after the light turns off. I'm used to do it this way, feels better than hard kill through PSU switch off, what corrupted my system image once ago. Simple Reset did not help, had to disconnect all boards and stuff until it finally worked again.

Ok, new location, plug in, start up. The light and everything blinking ok.
SSH to miner1 takes longer than usual, but successful. Same for #2.

Then cgminer had no connection to the pool on both miners.
cmd "route" output looked good, ping from miner 1->2 & 2-> 1 was fine, ping from miner1&2->laptop was fine, ping from laptop to router was fine, ping from miner1+2 -> router TIMEOUT! So confusing  Huh

As Next, I shutdown & restarted the network switch, did not help. Then switching ports, cables, plug off/on the power-line ethernet and all other network hardware involved. Miners shutdown as well. Restarted step by step all hardware, tried stuff on its own and as last the miners again.

Nothing changed. Still takes ages for ssh to connect, but successful.
Setting network config in the webgui did not help either. Looking onto my router none of both has requested an IP address nor assigned, my router told me. All the time I connected via wifi to this router and through it to the miners, to their fixed IPs they get from the router.  Huh !!

Scratching my head, I thought ok let's see what "ps | grep dhc" shows, then I killed the dhcp-client and restarted it with same parameters shown by the mentioned ps cmd.
Code:
udhcpc -b -x hostname MyMinersHostname eth0
Smiley BINGO! That helped to scare the ghosts away, router showed me immediately registered clients (both miners), ssh was working as fast as usual again and they were already hashing away when I was checking them. ~30min downtime hurts, I need to learn some digital voodoo or else to prevent similar stuff when changing the location next time  Cheesy

Last time, the bigger boxes where delivered in the early morning, UPS even woke me up.
And today, now it's already launch time and I'm still waiting.. Undecided

Maybe KnC better ships next time upgrade boards in huge boxes, just to make sure the driver delivers them first when starting the daily tour  Tongue

127  Local / Treffen / Re: Bitcoin Community Region Stuttgart - Bezahlung mit BTC jetzt möglich! on: November 10, 2013, 02:28:56 PM
Hallo liebe Bitcoin-KameradInnen,

Got my reseller ID just 10days ago when this idea came to my mind.
As it seems like a win-win for both of us - the buyer and me, I'm going for it.

Until now I just told some guys I know about this opportunity, this is the very first public offering..

Just in case one is going to order another unit..

If you'd like to buy it through my reseller ID I'll promise to give you exclusive support via PM in case of trouble or else like needs for small scripts, web-interface modifications and such..  Wink

sorry to interrupt, but Avenger send me pm this afternoon saying thanks for the quota-patch I wrote
he had further questions regarding the quota feature of cgminer and how to apply it, would not make sense I guess in case he would not have a device and the patch applied on his web-interface
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 07, 2013, 12:36:19 PM
Last night my miner got stopped again after only a few hours. So apparently it no longer takes a day or two to run out of RAM...

-MarkM-

hm, that sucks
This might help you:

Code:
#!/bin/sh
#

MIN_RAM_IN_BYTES=1024

while true; do
    # get free RAM left
    ramLeft=$(free -mt | grep Mem | awk '{print $4}');
    # check if it is still sufficient
    if [ "$ramLeft" -lt "$MIN_RAM_IN_BYTES" ]; then
        # do what you want, like
        #   pkill screen;
        #   screen cgminer -c /config/cgminer.conf'
        # or
        #  /etc/init.d/reboot
        ...
    fi
    sleep 5; # sleep for 5 seconds
done

Save this as file, chmod +x and then start it through screen on your miner.
It checks all 5 seconds the free memory, in case it's below MIN_RAM_IN_BYTES you can restart cgminer or even reboot the miner
133  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Multipool web-interface for KnCMiners on: November 07, 2013, 12:20:42 PM
Thanks for the donation whoever it was!!

I honestly hope it was intended and not by mistake as the modified web-interface writes in case of a broken/non-existing config (would prevent a startup and modification of config via webinterface') a default one containing eligus account for my donation address.

So I will do some more work in my spare free-time on KnCMiners.
If there are any wishes what should be enhanced or fixed or whatever as next - let me know, please

Meanwhile you might be interested in the following patch allowing you to make use of the new quota feature of cgminer without having a broken web-interface:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=170332.msg3508074#msg3508074

Or into a memory observer in case your miner stops because of no RAM left:

Hi all,

in case you are making use of this new quota feature of cgminer (since v3.6.6 I believe ?) you will experience a broken config in your webinterface even if it's fine for cgminer.

If you want to get rid of it, here's a tiny patch I wrote

as next put the patch into '/www/pages/' on your miner OR download '/www/pages/miner_setting.html' and open a terminal in that folder
then patch your webinterface

Code:
patch -p1 < allow_quota_for_pools.patch

changes are gone after a reboot

136  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: October 12, 2013, 04:12:31 PM
No, I can't see the transaction on blockchain.info as it is not in the blockchain.

Armory tells me the following (have restarted another time):
Block Number:              Not in the blockchain yet
Transaction Time:          2013-Sep-27 12:21
Transaction Direction:    Sent

Meanwhile Armory shows block 260418, so I'm connected and synchronized.

Blockchain.info shows the money resides still in my wallet while Armory remains in status 'send' with '0 confirmations' and 'Not in the blockchain yet' .

Just in case it may matter:
I had a lower transaction fee at first, but then was asked for 0,0005 by Armory which I agreed on, then the transaction was processed.
I'm not sure whether the network connection was interrupted during it has been sent, as I was connected via my mobile to the internet.

Is there any kind of command which re-propagates a transaction or reverts my deadlock somehow ??

Close Armory (and Bitcoin-Qt, if running it yourself).   Delete mempool.bin from your Armory home directory,  then restart Armory.   The tx will be forgotten and you can try again.

Sorry for the late feedback.
And thank your very much for the fast support. Your solution provided works like a charm.

Enjoy your beer. Wink

Hallo,

Hi all,

I've enhanced KnCMiner's web-interface, so you can add more than one pool now.  Wink

enjoy!

139  Bitcoin / Project Development / Multipool web-interface & more for KnCMiners on: October 12, 2013, 01:58:28 PM
Hi all,

I guess most of you added more than one pool to your KnCMiner's cgminer.conf
Unfortunately it has the disadvantage that the website tab for the miner config will not work any longer (empty page).

Therefore I enhanced the web-interface provided by KnC, in order to get rid of it.
In addition you can add new pools with the modified web interface.

My modifications are based on their code and has therefore legal implications.
Anyways I hope KnC is happy about customers helping each other, so enjoy.

PLEASE NOTICE:
Code is provided as is. Written with best intention. Please review it and let others know.
After reboot of your KnCMiner the changes are gone I guess (not tested, yet), after a firmware upgrade for sure.

TODO-List:
--------------
*add all cgminer parameters to web-interface
 *improve speed
*communicate with cgminer in order to apply parameters immediately (no restart)
and let cgminer write the config file instead
 *layout/style (css) improvements

btw, how about a beer to motivate further development  Smiley

Contains the modified web-interface (4 files), as well as a short README and a simple bash script installer pushing those files onto a KnCMiner.

Feedback and suggestions are very welcome!

*edit:
since multi-pool has meanwhile been integrated in the stock firmware I did no further development on it, in case you wonder

Die Day1 Orders haben heute Ihre Tracking-Id bekommen.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=170332.msg3284228#msg3284228
