Can you increase the RAM in them with Google Drive?

Seems just as legit.

Who cares about number of miners? Cheesy

Ouch, careful saying stuff like that. The more miners a coin has, the more secure the network. If anyone can put more than 50% of the hash rate, they can doublespend and kill confidence in the coin. If a coin creator doesn't care how many miners are on a coin, that is a little bit scary.

IMO we shouldn't use anything copyrighted in the official client or website, or we could be another Coinye West.

I got mine working finally, but its nowhere near as good as the other guy's, I don't have a captcha so it will probably get drained.

That is good news, a faucet is a must. I've been trying to get this one setup, but there is little in the way of install docs.

Aw dude you just outed yourself as a non-brony. Smiley
EqD is the #1 site for MLP information, http://www.equestriadaily.com/
Do not email them asking for a mention, wait for Lemons to do it, we only get one shot and we need to be ready for it. Most likely it will get into a "nightly roundup" which is their nightly batch post of less important stuff, and doesn't get as nearly much attention as a dedicated post. But if it gets its own post, there will be a fuckload of traffic for that day. A lot of crytpocurrency newbies would be visiting the website, and things should be as easy as possible. We should get a faucet setup before then too. I can donate some EQB coins if someone sets one up. I'd do it, but I'm not having much luck finding any prepackaged php scripts or whatever.
I can promote it on other communities I'm in, but we have to get our shit together first.

BTW lemons I idle in IRC in a screen session, one of these days I'll be on at the same time as you.
127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [EQB] [GIVEAWAY!] EquestrianBit - currency of friendship on: March 03, 2014, 11:08:42 AM
we should really all spread the word about this coin on twitter etc.
so funny how people are not picking it up.

It's because there's not enough actual bronies here, I think its just me and lemons.

I noticed in my own community there wasn't much interest in cryptocurrency in general, there's not a lot of overlap for some reason. It would make for a good study to try to figure out why that is, but I only know 2 bronies that are at all interested in Bitcoins, and they are barely into it.

If we can get an EqD post, there will be a lot of people checking it out for a day, and most of the views will be that day only, so you gotta be ready. I would suggest having a clear path for people to get help, such as promoting that IRC channel, since you'll get a lot of newbies that never bothered with it until there's a pony themed coin. Have some giveaways where you give away tiny amounts to get people giving it to each other for fun, so they can learn the magic of crytpocurrency.
How about a subreddit?
An OC is a must too, though that borders on copyright issues.
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [EQB] [GIVEAWAY!] EquestrianBit - currency of friendship on: March 02, 2014, 08:30:03 PM
The git repo hasn't updated in 11 days.
I don't run precompiled wallets, sorry.

p.s. Not a single pony pic in this thread. The dogecoins guys are more into doge than you guys are into pony. This is making me want to make my own coin, if the coin creator is the only one that even admits to being a MLP fan. I posted about this on my forum, and people are asking how to get it, etc.. and I kind of don't want to tell them if this is just a bunch of non-bronys trying to cash in on someone else's subculture.
129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [EQB] [GIVEAWAY!] EquestrianBit - currency of friendship on: March 01, 2014, 08:27:57 AM
Anyone here actually a brony?
I'm not sensing MLP fans, there's not a single pony pic posted, no memes referred to, etc.. Did this even get submitted to EqD?
130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: February 28, 2014, 07:41:16 PM
You know, the best way I see to put this reject difference between pools stuff to bed would be a simple test: given two identical optimized rigs (largish ones to help combat variance) with identical configurations, each pointed to a different pool, run them for exactly the same amount of time for at least one week. Compare total payouts. Best payout wins.

A bunch of us have done that on this subreddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/multimining
I did wafflepool vs middlecoin for 5 days and wafflepool came out ahead.
Also there is this site: http://poolpicker.eu/ (he talks about how he gets those stats on his twitter https://twitter.com/Webbson_/ )
That website gets its data from the pool's reported stats, so you would have to trust the pools not to pad their stats.
I might split my GPUs up between clevermining and another pool, but several of these pools look the same when looked at on the long term, I'm not sure if it matters.

So yeah, ignore rejects, all that matters is how much Bitcoins get into your wallet over the long term.
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: February 28, 2014, 10:29:59 AM
Rejects can be caused by coins with faster times, such as if you were mining a coin with 30 second blocktimes, you would get a lot more rejects than a coin with 60 second target time. Its not always because of latency or slow servers at a pool.
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: February 28, 2014, 08:39:43 AM
Oh man I did something dumb, I copied the section of cgminer.conf for wafflecoin so I could try out clevermining, but I left in the _miner in the username. I'm not sure why it accepted shares despite me putting an invalid address. But check it out, it made stats for it!

http://www.clevermining.com/users/1raTtywAdbascZtk1E65U7wqns9FZ8UCR_work (note the _workername at the end)
http://www.clevermining.com/users/1raTtywAdbascZtk1E65U7wqns9FZ8UCR normal stats

So I'm wondering, is that a supported thing? Will it payout to my address by having _randomtext at the end of the address?
I'll be ok with the loss, it was my fault, and was only a few hours on my slowest worker, but I thought the pool owner would want to know about this in case its unintended that it accepts shares from invalid bitcoin addresses in the username.
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NEW][PesetaCoin - PTC] Blonde Returns!! Exchange Listed on: February 26, 2014, 11:54:10 PM
I just got the wallet for the first time (compiled from source yesterday), and it has 0 connections. I added the 2 addnode's from the first post and it won't connect. I let it go overnight, and still nothing.
Anyone have any working addnode lines I can add to get synced up?

Nevermind, figured it out, I was using the wrong github repo, I needed to use pesetacoin-0.8.6.3, not pesetacoin.
134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GBN] GABENCOIN - GABE NEWELL COINS on: February 02, 2014, 11:09:36 AM
The tip bot could help a lot, it has a chance to compete with the other tipbots in gaming markets. I've been tipping a bit, but I don't want to overdo it and be seen as unwelcomed spam.
135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GBN] GABENCOIN - GABE NEWELL COINS on: February 02, 2014, 12:46:23 AM
The net hash rate is only 25Mh/s according to the 2 pools on the front page. Sad

Did someone hit control and stop a Gaben?

Hobbits- please help asking Coinedup to add our coin to their exchange.  There is a petition going at the following link, just add your comment:

http://www.reddit.com/r/CoinedUp/comments/1whs84/please_add_hobbits/

Make sure to upvote too! Only 4 upvotes, it needs a lot more.

I tried compiling this, why was the Makefile removed from src/leveldb?
In case anyone else had trouble with this, I was able to get compile hobbitcoin after I copied the Makefile from https://code.google.com/p/leveldb/source/browse/Makefile
138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SWAG] IT'S ALL ABOUT THE SWAG! DO YOU HAVE IT? LAUNCHED on: January 30, 2014, 11:19:24 AM
Hi,

Does someone knows why the linux wallet doesn't compile?
I have no problem compiling others wallets usually.

user@host:~/git-rep/swagcoin/src# make -f makefile.unix USE_UPNP=-
g++ -c -O2 -pthread -Wall -Wextra -Wformat -Wformat-security -Wno-unused-parameter -g -DBOOST_SPIRIT_THREADSAFE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -I/user/git-rep/swagcoin/src -I/user/git-rep/swagcoin/src/obj -DUSE_IPV6=1 -I/user/git-rep/swagcoin/src/leveldb/include -I/user/git-rep/swagcoin/src/leveldb/helpers -DHAVE_BUILD_INFO -fno-stack-protector -fstack-protector-all -Wstack-protector -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2  -MMD -MF obj/alert.d -o obj/alert.o alert.cpp
alert.cpp:260:1: fatal error: opening dependency file obj/alert.d: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.

Thanks.

cd src
mkdir obj

This coin is heavily premined though, I'd skip it.

I just found this coin now. I gotta say, the addresses should have started with a 3, not 7. Humor opportunity missed.
140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE][REALTIME] Crycurex.com exchange on: January 26, 2014, 11:46:13 PM
Careful with this site, I accidentally deposited twice to the same address, and the 2nd one went into another account. I knew I wasn't supposed to, but I was distracted (I was deciding hard if I should sell my Coinyes or not, and finally decided yes), and I realized my mistake as soon as I pressed enter.
So yeah, they reuse the addresses! This is the worst design possible.
I PM'd crycurexcom in IRC and he will contact the owner of the account they went into. I tried to explain that he can see the successful deposit that went into my account from the same address sent a few minutes earlier, so the blockchain kind of 100% proves its me, but he didn't seem to get it.

Just replying to myself with an update, I kept bugging them in IRC and they finally gave me my 900K coinye back. So they seem honest, but was just a bit naive in thinking that reusing addresses is a good idea.

If they owe you something, join #crycurexsupport on irc.freenode.net with an IRC program, they hang out there. My emails went ignored, but you can bug them there!

15:42 <Ratty_> Doing it now! I know you're not a thief, but I feel strongly that reusing address is a bad idea and must be a nightmare for you already.
15:44 <crycurexcom> its temporary system.. i will switch to fully automated one in next days Wink
