121  Economy / Trading Discussion / Barclays closing bank accounts related to Bitcoin on: December 09, 2013, 11:33:47 AM
Hi,

Just want to share my Barclays experience with you guys here.

I opened an account in Barclays so that I can sell or buy coins at bitbargain.co.uk. They opened my account and after 3 days I received a letter that they will be closing my account soon. They haven't given me any specific reason.

Then I came across to this post.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1sgcm6/my_bank_has_frozen_my_account_because_i_sent/

I have another account with Natwest and I have been using that account for buying coins from localbitcoins. My guess is that they did some sort of history check and didn't like that I have been buying Bitcoins.

122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Number of merchants using Bitcoin on: December 09, 2013, 11:12:47 AM
Hi,

I heard someone saying that number of merchants accepting Bitoins is not rising significantly. I personally feel this is not the case.

Is there any charts or data proving this point?

Thanks

123  Economy / Service Discussion / Anyone used ibwt.co.uk? on: December 07, 2013, 04:31:12 PM
Hi,

I'm in UK, haven't used any exchange before. I have only used localbitcoins and bitbargain, very convenient but prices are usually GOX + 7-8%.

I was looking for an exchange and stumbled upon ibwt.co.uk. I'm not sure how reliable is this? Anyone used this before?

Thanks.

Thanks for sharing this screenshot. Very positive sign for Bitcoin indeed.
125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Asset vs Currency on: December 06, 2013, 02:58:07 PM
As Chinese declared that Bitcoin is not Currency, instead it is an Asset.

Being an Asset instead currency a good thing for Bitcoin or not? If not why?

Not sure if I understood it correctly. I guess you can accept Bitcoin if you are not a bank (financial institute). Isn't it?

Also bigger it becomes, harder it'll be to regulate. Governments recognising Bitcoin is positive enough for now because it spreads awareness and makes it more legit.

Usually indian government is really fussy but it might not be the case this time. Chinese influence is key here.

This could be a next big thing for Bitcoin if we can push to spread the awareness.

India is a huge market with massive potential!

140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and alt-coin rant on: November 28, 2013, 02:50:55 PM
Its going to be very hard to get merchants to accept even 1 cryptocurrency.  The cost in software and in training staff is very high.  There is no way they will install support for 2.

There can only be one.

I disagree. If a merchant can accept Bitcoin, he can also accept Litecoin without almost any extra infrastructure cost.
