121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mt gox yubikey on: July 08, 2011, 05:01:35 PM
I think Mtgox just make a very good point, join bitcoin with other banking technology. This has been being used a lot in average online banking, we should bring in more expedience in the traditional banking.
122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guys, you should not buy in such a hurry on: July 08, 2011, 04:43:09 PM
you actually see panicky people who are not used to trading at all.

a guy was on here the other day complaining he bought at 16 and sold the other day when it dropped to 11.. he sold at 13. But he was freaking out that he might lose the entire 16, so he got out. When a market like bitcoin is going to have wild fluctuation at times, you cant just panic on drops. Try to figure out why it is dropping, if you ant figure out why i is dropping then hold on to it, cause most likely the drop is temp.

Ok, people panic always. they panic to sell and panic to buy. The latter one is what's going on right now.
123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guys, you should not buy in such a hurry on: July 08, 2011, 04:40:41 PM
Everybody, trust me, if we push the price high too soon, it will be dangerous for the bitcoin community. those people who want to get profit fast will cash out their profit very fast, and it's not good for the bitcoin. If we push the price up like fast like 100% in 3 days, it will get us another crash.

Everybody who is solid believe in bitcoin, we should not buy now, just hold our fiat money, and force those people who don't really believe in bitcoin sell at low price!!
124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guys, you should not buy in such a hurry on: July 08, 2011, 04:33:29 PM
Just hold on, those one with vulnerable faith to the bitcoin will like to sell you at a lower price. just hold at the 14 bucks, don't try to push the price up. They will get impatient and sold you at a lower price. we solid believers don't have to buy the bitcoins at a high price! Just hold an open order around 12 to 14, those scared people sell it to you at these prices!

Just speculating.

Or, they won't, the price will go much higher than 15, and you'll be left holding an open order between 12 and 14... if the price is going up, it's because there are people out there who want btc... really that simple.

well, that's what people who is buying now thinks, I guess. If I'm more manipulative, I won't even hold an open bid order, and just hold a open ask order, trying to make the price down. We all know that lots of people with vulnerable faith just came in for a quick profit. we should not let them win such a easy lottery. Let them sell back the bitcoin to us at a low price!

I guess we should just withdraw the open bid order, let those people who subconsciously like to sell be scared, and do their SELL SELL SELL job!
125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Guys, you should not buy in such a hurry on: July 08, 2011, 04:24:07 PM
The price is rising from 14 to 14.7 in a hour.

Just hold on, those one with vulnerable faith to the bitcoin will like to sell you at a lower price. just hold at the 14 bucks, don't try to push the price up. They will get impatient and sold you at a lower price. we solid believers don't have to buy the bitcoins at a high price! Be patient! Just hold an open order around 12 to 14, those scared people sell it to you at these prices!

Just speculating.
126  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: we need a discovery shopping search engine for BTC on: July 07, 2011, 08:31:52 PM
That is what I am slowly working toward! You can see the selection and volume of merchandise that I have indexed in my live feed called the BTC Economy plugin (demo, wiki). The plugin can easily be embedded into any website.

But I don't intend to just stop with the plugin. I am working toward building a search engine dedicated to bitcoin merchandise and services.

- Jared

Good for you!
127  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Store owners interested in a price comparison search engine for Bitcoin? on: July 07, 2011, 07:25:06 PM
interesting, I just came up the similar idea with you and post it on the project development sub forum.

I'm not a programmer, or else I'll start such project myself. I just know that this kind of search engine is not so difficult to set up but it will capture a lot of visits.
128  Bitcoin / Project Development / we need a discovery shopping search engine for BTC on: July 07, 2011, 07:18:16 PM
like www.thefind.com, www.bizrate.com, etc.

What do you say?

put the information on bitcoinharbour.com, forbitcoin.com... together. As the bitcoin world is still small, if such engine can put them together, consumers who want to spend bitcoin will feel easier to find what they want. And as the bitcoin business world has no leading giant, this kind of engine is more likely to be successful than the fiat money world where there is Ebay who is big enough and most people don't need a such engine
129  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Person-to-person market exchange in China, w/ AliPay payment? on: July 07, 2011, 06:49:27 PM
If Google Translate is anywhere accurate, looks like this is a Chinese person-to-person exchange. Uses AliPay between buyer and seller.

Would anyone be able to confirm that this is what the site really does?

exactly an OTC exchange. CNY go through Alipay and bitcoins go through Doten.co
130  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Usability of bitcoin on: July 07, 2011, 05:32:00 PM
The United States is somewhere people vote to chose their senator and president, which is very different from China or North Korea.

That's why we should let more people adopt bitcoin. They are bitcoiners, and voters, which is hope of bitcoin becoming a completely legal CURRENCY.
131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Disruptive Marketplace - BTC and Mobile Payments on: July 07, 2011, 05:18:06 PM
Zong is centralized, so it can be controlled by Ebay/government/whomever.  It has nothing on Bitcoin.

Average people don't really care that much about "been controlled" by ? and ? and ?.
132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The best way to get bitcoin widely adopted on: July 05, 2011, 07:03:59 PM
Persuade paypal, Visa or someother traditonal financial service to cover bitcoin.
133  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: A message to the geeky on: July 05, 2011, 06:33:05 PM
Average consumers don't care Anonymity so much. Most consumers like to buy stuff from where they can put their trust. In such place, they don't really care give some personal information to the merchants.

I think the bitcoin itself is enough for those privacy paranoia like Satoshi himself. However, if you want to develop some projects, I guess you may want to sacrifice the anonymity nature of the bitcoin, just focus your attention on the speed/reliability/lowcost/safety/convenience/legality.

So I think some centralized service is good for the bitcoin community. and privacy paranoia can just use a Tor proxy while sending and receiving the coins, and not forget to change your address every time.

In that case, why use Bitcoin? Why not use paypal or VISA?

The only value I see in Bitcoin is that the limited supply of the money. And bitcoin just make this money supply limitation idealism into reality.

If Paypal or VISA decide to support bitcoin payment, then of course I will use paypal to store bitcoins!
134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Online wallet services" are an invitation to fraud and theft on: July 05, 2011, 06:17:02 PM
Speaking as someone who is actively working on setting up an online wallet. I can understand your concerns. It's also our biggest challenge (to build trust)

As someone who is obviously against the idea. What would make you feel more comfortable with the idea?

Actions we are going to take:

1. Make it clear whose behind it.
2. Clarify how our system works and what safe guards are in place
3. How we plan on making money

For the No.1:

1) Be a U.S. citizen
2) Register a company in U.S.
3) Tell people your exactly background information.
4) Post 1 of your pictures is good for building trust.

conclusion: transfer your personal creditability to your service.

Of course, you have to do a good job on 2. and 3.

135  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Mybitcoin is a scam! on: July 05, 2011, 05:55:53 PM
Well, another disaster and bad publicity for bitcoin.
That's why I always disagree the Anonymity in the import business of bitcoin like bank and exchanges. I always ask the service provider to declare who they are and where they run their business.

Dude, it's business, if you really think bitcoin is a currency. Be a real merchants who with an open attitude to the publicity and take responsibilities. Please don't hide behind the Tor net and start a weird business like mybitcoin.

We will see some other liars who will claim who they are and located in somewhere of USA, and lots of people will get robbed by those liars again.

Some trustworthy centralization is unavoidable. I just hope the competition and post on this forum will drive those liars out as soon as they show the first sign of cheating.

Again, Flexcoin.com is Ponzi game. You'd better not join the game unless you're sure that you're the earlist one or the owner of the flexcoin is your fucking boy and will share with his profit with you after he runs to Mexico from U.S. where he claimed be. Or he is in Mexico now, who knows?

137  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm reading the history of the digital cash now. on: July 05, 2011, 04:13:40 PM
It's still in beta. Not to mention one need not use a personal client/wallet AT ALL to be involved in Bitcoin. There are numerous online wallets that are as easy to use as Paypal, and these services are growing constantly.

But those service are somehow untrustworthy. Just look at the post about mybitcoin.
138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CampBX Launch - Free Trades for All Bxlievers! on: July 05, 2011, 04:10:38 PM
Was it by design that you the depth of market only shows integer levels?  I'm not sure I'm a fan of that.

I was about to complain about that too, hehe. Smiley I suppose it's okay for at-a-glance, but it seems like there's no real way to get an accurate representation of the market depth.

I get the feeling none of this stuff was caught during the testnet phase because I'd imagine most people were dealing in rather large amounts and thus never tried dealing in really small amounts. It's a shame, hopefully Keyur figures it out soon.

They also picked a shit of a weekend to launch, but oh well. Cheesy

Maybe a habit take from the traditional exchanges like stock exchanges?  I think it's not good in the bitcoin world. As other exchanges started the new tradition that we should see the market depth further.
139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / I'm reading the history of the digital cash now. on: July 05, 2011, 04:06:57 PM
There's a very interesting story. The founders of Paypal, Max Levchin and Theil had studied the history of other failed digital cash, and concluded the reasons why they fail. The first one of them is that all the digital cash is too troublesome to use. The users have to download a software, and worried about the safety of their money.

Doesn't it look familar? Our bitcoin is far more complicated to use and keep safe than any of other digital cash. Yes, at the first, you have to learn how to find the damn $APPDATA%/Bitcoin to backup your wallet! And it's not enough yet because you have to learn TrueEncrpt! You have to Remember a very secure password which should be more than 12 letters long mixed with bla bla bla! And if you lose your money, all the monkeys on this forum will laugh at you, they will say it's all your fault and you will be like an idiot!

So please, the developer of the bitcoin client, make it easy and convenient to use for average merchants and average adopters. And the Paypal like service for bitcoin world is needed, too.

140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: For next few months Bitcoins' price will not rise, it will slowly decrease. on: July 04, 2011, 05:34:58 PM
It's not import that there are so many bad news and bears, but that how many believers still there after the bad news. Unlike the bear market, people don't agree with the meanings of the recent bad news.

Most of the adopters DO realize that the bitcoin itself have nothing with this bad news,  some of them still have very strong faith. Actually, most of them just invest money like 1000 dollars or what, it won't hurt much if they just hold some bitcoin in their hand.

Those most vulnerable doubters has already sold out after the first crash, and the slow price down trend will hurt other doubters. As time pass by, the price maybe even lower, but the number of adopters increased.

As all you see in the forum, some talent payment system start to emerge and replace the sodding ones like mybitcoin. I've already see the coming of some payment tools that is trustworthy and ready to go for average merchants, in the comming months.

Well, at that time, the price will start to rise slowly again. Those doubters, who have been selling the bitcoin, will always be a doubter. They will doubt their judge made around the beginning of July and start to purchase back the bitcoin again, most likely higher price than they sell it at now, that's where the price will hit them to make another vulnerable decision, "I should have hold the bitcoins, now what I should do? yes, I should buy it back". With the new adopters joining in and the doubter coming back, the price will be rally as crazy as we've seen 1 month ago.

the price of bitcoin will continue this fluctuation in the near future, a lot of people will be doing this sell-low-then-buying-high job.

Nevertheless, these speculators supply with the bitcoin community with extra liquidity, which the fundamental of some payment service like bit-pay.com. They are good for bitcoin.
