I'm still gonna have to go with the incompetence argument. After all... Mt. Gox WAS originally created as a website for people to trade Magic: The Gathering cards with each other. Not EXACTLY something that takes a masters degree in business and economics to run properly, which is precisely what someone who heads a multi-million dollar financial institution should have.
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MineOnCloud.com POOLS 1% FEES on: March 03, 2014, 01:51:19 AM
Any word on figuring out mergemining for this?

No for now any merged in mind. Just launch new scrypt pool for zeitcoin : https://zeit.mineoncloud.com

I'm referring to the fact that there's information out there suggesting that mazacoin can be mergemined with BTC.  Not sure if you knew what I mean, just trying to be clear.  Anyone know anything about that? Could make things interesting for mazacoin...
imo, mergemining with BTC would be a very bad thing for this fledgling coin. it would cause the difficulty to rise so quickly and dramatically that people would just stop mining it because it would be no longer profitable. just look at what happened to namecoin. as soon as pools started merging that with btc, the diff skyrocketed and now nearly parallels that of btc yet the price is nowhere near that of btc. it has become completely unprofitable to mine and is now a losing venture any way you look at it to try and mine it by itself. it costs more in electricity to mine than you get out of it. for every $5 in namecoins that you mine, you're spending $6 (or more) in electricity costs. just my two cents (or... satoshis... as the case may be) on the matter.

Well the last resort would be to contact The Anonymous... I guess they could find him...

dude just remember the name ANONYMOUS where do you ever find them?
even the goverment doesnt know who they are and i think also they will never be create a website saying that WE ARE THE ANONYMOUS TEAM how can we help you?
ummm... they already did create a website. it's called 4chan. they hang out in /b/. that's where you can find them. if you phrase your post in such a way that it doesn't leave you open to being hard-core trolled, they can actually be very helpful.

suggestion... a notice on the front page of the site as to what's going on and how long you'll be down would be nice so people don't have to go digging through 70 pages of a bitcointalk thread to figure it out. just my two cents (or rather... satoshis... as the case may be).

The only idiots in here are the "I told you so people". The only thing this accomplishes is justifying the act of scamming people. You people *think* he's scammed people, but you're saying it as if it's a matter of fact.

All we can do is wait and hope he at least pays out everyone 1:1. coin2x's IP is in California, and they just passed legislation which makes cryptocurrency a legal tender. If this website turns out to be a scam, it is no different than if he were to use USD.

If this guy runs, he made out with over 200BTC. We will have to make sure California makes an example out of him. Anti-crypto people in the media and gov't would LOVE a story like this.

that IP address you're seeing is a cloudflare node. not his real IP.
130  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Crypto Doubler - coin2x - coin2x.com on: February 23, 2014, 11:53:22 PM
Someone trace his ip  Roll Eyes

he's on a cloudflare node. the ip given from an nslookup comes back as 108.162.198.227 (cloudflare). this guy may be a bit smarter than we thought. god knows if oleg fadeev is even his real name.

Hey devs! Why did my antivirus just go batshit crazy and tell me the qt wallet was infected with a downloader trojan when I opened it for the first time? That has NEVER happened before with ANY qt wallet I have ever had before. It's really too bad to. I liked this coin and was about to add my hashrate to the network.

Never had a problem with this wallet, I use Kaspersky.

I'm using Avast. Mind uploading it to virustotal.com for me? At this point, I don't even trust having it on my computer. I wanna check it out there before I even think about downloading it again.

It's uploaded and checked, seems fine.

mind giving me the link so i can take a look myself? thanks

Sure ,  https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/88362cb44125c9ad9ff235d8b2fe0196ded39d588cd0724df7e2670f9fb4aba3/analysis/

thanks bud. i might give it another go.  Smiley

False positive, happens a lot in crypto. No worries, it's clean man.

can't be too cautious when it comes to things like this. and like i said previously, it's NEVER happened to me with a qt before. miner software i can understand because they use processor cycles. but i've never gotten that with a qt wallet before.

Very interesting site..

Seems there is more than enough BTC deposited to have pretty much any amount doubled.

Can anyone confirm this site pays out and all is well?

I can confirm. I made two separate deposits of 0.01 BTC each and have received a total of 0.04 BTC back after the 48hr period has elapsed. Yes, it's a ponzi, but it's a ponzi that actually pays out and they don't just take your money. I plan to continue using this site.

My wallet won't sync past block 15915 now.

do you have the latest wallet version? download latest one, it should work
I have the latest one, It was working fine until I woke up this morning and noticed it was stuck on block 15915

Edit: I just re-downloaded the new wallet and it still didn't work. Then I deleted the blockchain and it still gets stuck at block 15915.

Mine isn't syncing either. I'm stuck at block 15915 as well. Stopped about 18 hours ago, was working up until then. I hope this isn't a permanent stoppage. I have several hundred thousand coins in my wallet. And yes, I have the latest client.

Agreed. That skype account is fake. No reputable exchange will ever make you pay for support like that and they won't conduct business over skype where there's no official record of it. Any helpdesk platform will send the user a copy of all communications via email as a record of what happened so it can be referred back to. Only contact support via their helpdesk platform and ONLY communicate with them through it (unless you know with absolute certainty who you are talking to if you are communicating via skype). There have been many cases of people setting up fake skype accounts to try and fool people into thinking they are btc-e support. Their only goal is to extort money from unsuspecting victims or gain access to their personal information so they can empty their victim's accounts. Be EXTREMELY careful who you talk to and with what info you give them. Real support staff will NEVER ask you for any passwords or other sensitive information. If they do ask you for information like that, they are scammers trying to phish you.
