is it possible see the deadline that found the block in the block expoler?

You can infer it with reasonable accuracy from the delay since the reporting of the previous block.

I think that's a good idea.  Thanks, Irontiga.

There is also some risk to yourself in keeping those ports open to the world, if you're using the server for your own burst activity.  Any vulnerability in it could lead to your burst passphrase being stolen.  I don't know how carefully the server has been reviewed with security for that kind of exposure in mind.
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | New version 1.1.2 on: September 26, 2014, 04:37:26 AM
No, if i used key capture software then i could, but i don't. I have better things to do than scam people.

Warning, the person inviting you to provide your passphrase to his server appears to know nothing about how his server works, or network security.
124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | New version 1.1.2 on: September 26, 2014, 02:11:30 AM
I made my burst thing on my vps public, so try going here

172.245.214.105:8125

Inviting people to enter their burst passphrase on an unencrypted connection to your naked IP address is begging for all sorts of trouble.  Someone catches it in flight, their burst gets stolen, you get the blame.

I am so excited about the collapse of the medical industry...

What leads you to believe the industry is collapsing?

Apologies for the derail; we can take it to PMs if you like.

Bittrex don't delist coins without 1 week alert. Wink

Do the exchanges send email notification prior to delisting?  I could easily see myself missing a 1w window, otherwise.
127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | New version 1.1.2 on: September 25, 2014, 11:09:23 PM
Well then you're a fool because BURST has had its big pop up in price, and it'll never get to even 500 satoshis again.

Yeah, man.  BTC never went anywhere after it crashed from $32 to $1.   Cheesy

...price is showing some real strength on C-Cex.

A rise of 20s on basically no volume is not real strength.  It's going to take a while.

Anyone see this http://nxtfreemarket.com ?

Vaporware so far, isn't it?  And it will have to be open-source, which means it'll probably be easy to fold into burst.
129  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / What tools exist for monitoring blockchain consensus? on: September 24, 2014, 05:15:49 AM
Is there a simple way to query participants for their view on the blockchain and detect disagreement, other than running multiple clients?
130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | New version 1.1.2 on: September 24, 2014, 01:20:37 AM
Fyi - I started using Burst Mining System and saw that virtually all of my mines on the big dogs were getting interrupted.  I think I may just re-plot it in much smaller chunks...

That should not be necessary.  It's remotely possible that your bandwidth to the drives is too slow for simultaneous plotting and mining.  You might want to measure it.

Also, the mining process is stochastic and has high variance.  It would be better to wait a few days for a more precise average.

Lastly, check the total size of the plots in the 20TB farm.  That is the key factor.

Are there any existing tools for tracking the degree of consensus in a blockchain?  Is there any simple way to do that, or do you just have to set up a variety of clients and hope that one ends up on a different chain?
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nxt Coins stolen/ Hacked be warned on: September 23, 2014, 09:26:48 PM
Assuming it's a vulnerability in NXT seems like leap at this point.  It seems equally likely from here, for instance, that some national intelligence service is surveilling you, and one of its agents decided to take personal advantage of knowing your NXT account's password. Smiley

After all, so far you're the only person to claim this, and the amount they could steal was relatively small and a matter of public record.  If they can do that, why would they pick on small fry?
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | New version 1.1.2 on: September 23, 2014, 09:05:27 PM
I get amusement from watching you people desperately try to talk the price up, and I am confident it'll never happen.  Compare the historical price charts for BURST and CRYPT.  Almost identical.

Personally, I'm always trying to talk the price *down*, and I'm happy to hear you doing so.  Keep it up!  I don't care about the price in October, I care about the price in five years.  I don't have the emotional discipline for short-term trading, and it also seems unlikely that you do.

Could someone please post an update on where the technical discussion of BCX's claim and related thoughts stands, so I don't have to shovel through all this drama?
135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | New version 1.1.2 on: September 23, 2014, 04:55:35 PM
Are this plots ok?

The nonce ranges are fine, but the stagger is a little low.
136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | New version 1.1.2 on: September 23, 2014, 06:07:59 AM
one million dollar can buy 12-15 pb space depending on the infastructure. running costs about 500$ a day.
so the current 7-8 pb networksize would roughly cost 500.000$ and 250$ a day.
on this scale plotting can be done on the storagenodes themselve and maybe a bit speeded up with some gpu plotters within 1-2 weeks after deployment.

Assuming my $100M estimate for bitcoin is correct, that means that a correspondingly secure burst network would have about 1200-1500pb.  So the question is how much energy that much storage would consume.
137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | New version 1.1.2 on: September 23, 2014, 02:49:27 AM
also tim's disks are from tim.  Roll Eyes

I don't see any reason so far to think that Tim would trade in bad faith.
138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | New version 1.1.2 on: September 23, 2014, 02:41:48 AM
Yes, someone should estimate out how much energy burst would use for the same capital outlay currently protecting bitcoin.  I estimated recently that it would take about $100M to 51% the bitcoin blockchain.  How much drive space would that take buy, and how much energy would that many drives mining burst demand?  I've read similar estimates for bitcoin (e.g., mining results in about half a million tonnes of greenhouse gases being dumped into the atmosphere each year), so that part is already done.

Got a better idea for you:
5TB external ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=22-178-587 ) with promo code EMCPAHH222 today only brings price down to $160USD each. 2x of them = $320 for 10TB instead of timk's $340 for 9TB.

Thanks!  Tim's deal is actually for 12TB, but the higer density is worth the premium.

and what's next ?

The price will fluctuate.
