121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your Satoshi theory? Deceased or alive & well on: April 19, 2020, 05:44:11 PM
Personally, the theory I have about Satoshi and Bitcoin is that Satoshi is not one person. I believe that Satoshi is the name of the team that developed Bitcoin and the blockchain technology. Considering the nature of the entire bitcoin and its blockchain technology, it requires a group of people to share ideas in order to create that with less bugs.  Personally I believe that the name Satoshi is a name of a team rather than one individual.

123  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Coronavirus scam email - do not donate bitcoin on: March 20, 2020, 11:10:12 PM
Scammers will always wanna take advantage of any given situation happening in the world. Its quite a pity to see people only interested in their own personal gains without considering the impact that might have on innocent victims. We just have to be very careful in this era of this corona virus pandemic.
124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC + Corona on: March 20, 2020, 10:59:42 PM
Personally, i don't really see and think now is the right time to bring big people into the bitcoin ecosystem. As it stands now, all the big influencers are focused on helping push corona virus out of the entire world . A lot of them are channelling their funds and resources into helping get a potential cure or vaccines for this virus.  Now is actually the bad time to focus on bitcoin.
125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How bitcoins is helping during the lockdown on: March 19, 2020, 11:43:28 PM
Personally, the only way I see bitcoin and cryptocurrency helping people in the quarantine country is through daily trading. And this has so many advantages and disadvantages depending on the understanding level of the person trading. But I don't really see bitcoin helping people during this lockdown. It takes a lot to understand daily trading of bitcoin in order to maximize profits...
126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin trading increasing in Venezuela on: March 19, 2020, 11:30:30 PM
Due to the Coronavirus, lots of countries are lockdown. Venezuela is also on nationwide quarantine. As a result, banks are shutting down, on the other hand, Bitcoin trading activity is increasing in Venezuela.
https://decrypt.co/22750/venezuela-shuts-down-banks-coronavirus-bitcoin-trading-soars

Considering the nature of this corona virus pandemic, bitcoin and cryptocurrency trading is the only form of services that can render people some amount of profits to survive in this crisis. It's no surprising people in Venezuela are now into bitcoin trading ....
127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin during pandemics on: March 18, 2020, 10:37:18 PM
There is no relationship between these two but thing is people behave based on what the situation outside. As what you have said people are simply panicking, fearing and having a weak hands so basically this is because of the pandemic. This isn't just a coincidence that's for sure.

The pandemic nature of COVID-19 makes it the reason behind the crashes seen in the financial ecosystem. The pandemic nature of COVID-19 is what's causing fear and panic in people. This fear and panic is the basic cause in the crash of the market value of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. In my basic understanding, COVID-19 is actually the cause of this crash of the Bitcoin market..
128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin during pandemics on: March 18, 2020, 10:26:08 PM
it is not COVID-19 that has affected bitcoin price, it has never been because there simply is no relationship between the two. it is literary every other market that has been dumping and the fear that the weak hands had thinking there should be a dump in bitcoin too so they jumped the ship. with whale manipulation accumulation on top, we've got ourselves a big crash Smiley

I don't really think I agree with you on this. The COVID-19 pandemic has indeed influence the entire crypto market and the stock market. Considering from the day the COVID-19 gained the entire world attention, the market price of Bitcoin dropped to a percentage which has never recorded since Bitcoin was introduced to the financial ecosystem. In as much that there have been bigger crashes in the bitcoin ecosystem, this crash is somehow the biggest. Pandemics always have influence on financial ecosystem.
129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin has an identity crisis now? on: March 13, 2020, 11:46:20 PM
First the dominant narrative was that Bitcoin brings a financial revolution and soon the whole world will abandon fiat and use it instead. Then, the problems with scaling started to arise the narrative shifted to store of value and digital gold. Now Bitcoin had its first test as those things and it failed it miserably with 50% crash.

So, how will we justify its value in the future? Cross-border payments? Go back to its roots - immutability and personal freedom? Or maybe Lightning Network will bring back the hopes of a widely adopted currency?

What do you think the people will be saying in the near future and what you personally believe in?

From my personal observations, I don't really agree with you on the fact that you think Bitcoin has an identity crisis.  The market value bitcoin has always been ups and downs. It is true that the true purpose of Bitcoin has shifted from being an option of being a digital fiat to becoming a digital gold which people will rather store than using it as a payment option. The basic challenge of  bitcoin has always been the lack of knowledge and  understanding of majority of people in the crypto space on what bitcoin is and its purpose in the financial ecosystem.  Once people don't know and understand Bitcoin, bitcoin can't be adopted as a currency.
130  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin a failed experiment? on: March 12, 2020, 11:54:10 PM
Today I'm thinking of selling my BTC even though it would be a big loss right now I've been with BTC a while and used to the volitility but this time I believe it's different

I was a believer in BTC and the future of crypto I believed having 1 or more BTC was a smart thing to do that many would look back in 10 to 20 years wishing they'd bought some when it was still obtainable by the regular Joe.

Now I feel that BTC will trend down hitting sub 1 dollars prices possibly even 0 over the next 12 to 18 months. the current coronavirus outbreak has been BTCs first real test and it failed hard and failed immediately. It's not a store of wealth and its failure to hold value in a economic down turn is spectacular and visible to all.  Today I think BTC is a failed experiment. What are your thoughts?

First and foremost, you don't really know and understand anything about Bitcoin and the entire crypto ecosystem. IF you did, you will not have made this post. Bitcoin has been around for 10 good years now and its average value for a year has always increased since it was introduced to the financial ecosystem. Bitcoin is never a failed experiment. Do you even understand what a failed experiment is ? I think you should time researching about the entire bitcoin market before drawing conclusions.
131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Coronavirus affects Bitcoin and when it will end on: March 12, 2020, 11:11:34 PM
According to the Reuters, China is successfully fighting Coronavirus and they reported that more people are cured from the virus than died.

It is safe to say now that coronavirus was behind the markets crash, stock, oil as well as Bitcoin.

Considering the patterns in the market value of the stock market and the crypto market, we can strongly concluded that coronavirus has some kinda influence in this changes.  This coronavirus problem has not just affected the stock market and the crypto market. It has affected the entire economy of China and some part of the European countries.  From the look of things, the entire markets will be up again when the coronavirus is no long a problem. For now, the crypto market might continue to drop. It is advisable to hodl your crypto rather than selling them cheap.
132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would You Rent A Car With Bitcoin? on: March 10, 2020, 11:10:27 PM
Hi guys, I'm working in the travel industry and recently found some global online travel agencies such as EasyRentCars start getting into crypto payments. I wonder how many crypto owners would be more interesting to purchase the service if the company accepts cryptocurrency? Would that be an effective feature?

Using bitcoin or any other crypto coin as a payment option for renting cars is no different from using fiat currency. Personally I have no problem using my bitcoin as a currency to rent a car. Considering the nature of Bitcoin and the car rental ecosystem, using bitcoin will not really change anything in terms of how transactions are made in order to rent a car. Using cryptocurrency will just introduction decentralization into the car rental industry and that will not really introduce anything different into this industry.

135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Funny] Warren Buffett launching Button Coin on: March 03, 2020, 12:44:12 PM
This post on Crypto-Potential. Made me chuckle.

I respect Warren Buffett, he is the most accomplished investor of our time but his views on Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency lately made him a target of many Bitcoin supporters.

Sometimes sarcasm is just what is needed

Is this for real?  I don't  really think this post is actually real and i don't think Warren Buffet has an intention of creating a digital crypto coin. This article is one of those posts where people just  wanna create traffic on the site or platform. But if this is true,  it will not have an success on the crypto market.
136  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Blockchain in Hollywood Movies on: March 03, 2020, 12:31:37 PM
So recently, I have been watching a lot of films with the (paid) Fox movies application and other ways.
Struck with some movies adding bitcoin and the blockchain in their scripts and plots.
People are seeing it now even in Hollywood.

1. The Hustle.
Penny Rust (Rebel Wilson) trying to payback Thomas for the medical expenses in bitcoin.
She even stated how much the transaction fee is. It was really funny.
Cannot find a better clip but here is one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fk9Xd9lkR4 go to 2:35.
Credits to the owner.

2. Charlie's Angels (2019)
Quote
Elena Houghlin (Naomi Scott) is a scientist, engineer and inventor of Calisto -- a sustainable energy source that will revolutionize the way people use power. But when the cutting edge technology falls into the wrong hands, Elena turns to the Townsend Agency for help. Now, it's up to the Angels -- Jane, Sabina and the newly recruited Elena -- to retrieve Calisto before it can be transformed into a weapon of mass destruction.
Thanks to google.

Quote
“All my character talked about was blockchain, and I remember I went in and Liz Banks [director] is so smart…she was explaining it to me, and I was not getting it.”

Naomi continues, “She got a piece of paper out and was drawing a diagram. I was like ‘she’s going to recast me because I don’t know what blockchain is’…to this day, I don’t know what blockchain means.” LOL!

(Sorry, I can't find the Jimmy Fallon interview.)

3. Crypto (2019)
Director: John Stalberg Jr.
This, I haven't watched yet. Trying to get a copy of the film.

If you have some to share, please do. Even those with just a little part in the script.
Not the old ones though as I know there is already one thread for that.
Also, if I am in the wrong section, please correct me.

These tell we in the crypto space that, Bitcoin and blockchain really have good potentials in the financial ecosystem. Is just the matter of time and people truly understanding bitcoin as a financial entity rather than just an investment asset. The implementation of bitcoin and blockchain in movies will help people to somehow understand this technology. We need to see this kinda movies more to help the introduction of bitcoin and blockchain to more individuals.
137  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can porn sites make bitcoin more popular or will it brings negative effects? on: March 02, 2020, 11:57:47 PM
As we all know, porn sites are at the top which are frequently visited by people in the internet world. So in my opinion if a porn site accepts
payments with bitcoin it will make bitcoin more popular and used by many people.Because transactions on porn sites we need privacy and
bitcoin can provide a solution. But on the other hand we have to admit porn sites can make the image worse in the eyes of some people.
So in your opinion, if a porn site accepts payments with bitcoin can make bitcoin more popular or will it be dangerous for the future of bitcoin
because it brings negative effects?

In as much that porn sites are one of the most visited websites on the internet, porn sites can't really make bitcoin very popular.  People visit porn sites for their guilty pleasure and such platforms can't really make Bitcoin popular in as much that people frequently visit such website. When bitcoin is used as a main payment option on porn sites, people will not really pay attention to what bitcoin is and it relevance in terms of anonymity and privacy.  People will only value Bitcoin when they finally understand what it is and how its gonna transform the financial ecosystem.
138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ways in which you can promote bitcoin. on: March 02, 2020, 11:44:14 PM
There are many ways to promote bitcoin. You can watch this video (https://youtu.be/qzwf1AQxqM0) of mine to learn more on several ways in which you can contribute to the promotion of bitcoin.

Your video is a very nice way to promote Bitcoin. Personally, the only way I see people buying into the idea of using Bitcoin and cryptocurrency is when they actually understand what bitcoin is and how relevant it is in the financial ecosystem. Without understanding, promoting Bitcoin will not actually have any significant impact on people and even convince them to use it for their daily financial transactions.
139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people compare betting and investing in bitcoin (in terms of risk)? on: March 02, 2020, 11:38:07 PM
I don't really understand why people see bitcoin as betting. That's what most people believe; they have this mindset that investing in bitcoin is more like playing a bet. But is that true? Capital NO!
I had a conversation with two of my siblings who both know that I'm into cryptocurrency. The older one was asking how much he would earn if he invested about 1,500$ worth of bitcoin. (Tho, I gave him a good explanation that it doesn't work that way). But then, my other sibling was saying that bitcoin is more like betting. Well, I ended up proving my point and here's it:
Betting is risky and so is investing in bitcoin. However, there's a big bridge between them. When you bet, your money is highly at stake than when you invest in bitcoin. This is because when you bet and lose, YOU LOSE ALL YOU STAKED. On the other hand, YOU CAN NEVER LOSE ALL IF YOU INVEST IN BITCOIN. Bitcoin can't just fall to zero. That's impossible. Tho it may need a long growth for one to gain, it should never be compared with betting (in terms of risk).
The reason why some people see bitcoin as betting is that, the risk level in both bitcoin trading or investment and betting are very much equal. With betting you can't actually tell the outcome even with all the statistics. Bitcoin also has similar characteristics since you can actually tell the next possible market value. Both Bitcoin and betting share similar risk levels and their profit margins are also quite similar. But personally, betting is more risky than Bitcoin. With Betting, it is very high to lose all the money you invested in the bet.
140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin is used in direct value. on: March 01, 2020, 04:40:48 PM
I have always imagined how fine and pleasant it will be if we won't need to convert our Bitcoin into another currency, such that it will be spent directly in it value. At least you can spend US dollars any where within and outside the country , though this idea may not be in favour of some traders. But I feel it will bring bitcoin more universal and standing on it's direct value.whats your take about this.

First and foremost, you need to understand that there is no direct value of Bitcoin without converting it to US dollars. Bitcoin do not really have any commodity or actual product backing it. You just have to accept and understand that fiat currency like US dollar will always be used in identifying the value of the amount of Bitcoin owned by someone or you. As it stands now, Bitcoin can't actually have its own value without fiat currency.
