People are selling way too cheap, indeed. Do we have a buy/sell thread yet?

Edit: nvm, here it is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=492984.0

I think whales/multipools have pushed the price down to this range. It's just about 0.01BTC per mhash/day now.. which is right where most coins want to be.

Rumor has it that wolong is joining this train.

Rumor heard from where? :O

Totally frustrated. Cannot connect to hashrapid, suprnova or helixcoinproject pools. Can anyone tell me why I'm getting

"Pool 0 JASON stratum auth failed: <null>"

in cgminer? I'm using

cgminer.exe --keccak -O stratum+tcp://stratum.helixcoinproject.com:3000 -u XXX -p XXX -I12 -w 256

For some reason, they had pool.helixcoinproject.com:3000 at first, but switched it to stratum.helixcoinproject.com:3000.

Try out pool.helixcoinproject.com:3000 instead! Works for me. Dunno why they changed the address...

What I don't understand is why on earth you would be selling your coins at 0.00001300 when 20 mins ago they were being purchased for almost double that amount.
Arbitrage

I think you are a bit confused about the definition of 'arbitrage.'
I think you just don't understand the opportunity.

Enlighten us! I'd love to get in on some arbitrage opportunities... also, it's always nice to know other people's trading tactics!

This is good feedback. What is your suggestion to make it fair to the smaller miners?

Just do 40 random miners for 1k each, it's the fairest way you can do it

or even just 20 randoms for 2k
Just like that and I would donate too.  Wink Donation would be like lottery ticket.

This!

Also: diff over 200!!!!

Are people still confused over Prince of Wales and Prince of Sudan?

Was pretty clear to me. One rules over Wales, the other over Sudan.

In a sense it's like pyramid scheme. Not literally, but works the same way. You must be very early adopter to get lot of coins. After PoW mining is done, those that have lot of coins get much more PoS interest than those that have less coins. Early adopters get more coins, more interest. It's only fair to those that are in the game very early. The whole consept is flawed. You can of course try to buy yourself in, but why bother?

It's like any other new coin where the difficulty sky rocketed shortly after it's launch.

The early miners took a chance on a new coin, and they will be rewarded if they are patient. They risked their mining hours on a new coin that nobody knew what the future would hold. They deserve to be rewarded for that.

Miners who jump in after a coin is proven to be valuable and exchangeable for BTC, will not make out as well as the early adopters as the risk is much lower now that the coin is selling at a BTC value. If the coin ended up being worthless, the early adopters would have wasted their hashing power and lost money. Try to look at it from this point of view.

Also, to what I highlighted in red above, the rates at which this coin is selling in large amounts is very low at the moment, imo. There are a large amount of miners who treat mining any coins purely as a business. They set what they expect their profit to be and that's where they sell their coins. They don't look further into the future than more than a few hours for the most part (that's not their business model).

That is the only reason these coins are still selling very cheap.

This coin is meant to be a POS coin, not POW. This is only the initial distribution, remember that. When POW stops, things will get very interesting.

My prediction is that we'll see a minimum of 5000 satoshis per coin in the days / weeks ahead.

Scryptominers, you're the best. This is why I always mine with you guys. No nonsense, no bullshit. Thank you!

Also we need to market this on social media... Maybe create a team that sets up a reddit, twitter, facebook etc? Maybe the dev should have some thoughts on this too, before we all start making  unofficial twitteraccounts for BC... xD
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | Launched | scrypt | PoS | No premine on: February 25, 2014, 04:18:49 AM
This coin sorely needs a website and other promotional stuff.. We need to form a bit of a community around this ourselves as there is no premine. Mintcoin has so much stuff going on and they can be seen everywhere atm. We need to build the buzz too, and for that we first of all need a website. Maybe we try to set up a bounty ourselves for a website or something along those lines?
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | Launched | scrypt | PoS | No premine on: February 25, 2014, 04:07:39 AM
Il let only a few coins go, Im willing to sell 5 batches of 100 at 0.2btc . I have 100 confirmed and ready to go. That isnt too bad considering maxcoin was at 0.008 a little over a week ago. Edit- and that coin is a huge ass fail dump coin now sitting at 0.00098, this is a way better coin and believe its value will be higher than this.

500 BC for a total of 0.2BTC? Did I read that correct? :O

nope 100 for 0.2 . bear in mind maxcoin, that stupid ass 400 million plus coins that dump at a rate of 276000 coins a day, was at 0.008 each. This coin, is special.

Also ive raised the price, someone buy my sell at 0.00350000 so we can establish a price and do the dev a favour.

Dave, I'll be sticking around as long as users like the site and continue to use it.  I put a lot of time into it and didn't get to spend very much time with my family the past few months.  I started on it before all these other exchanges popped up so that we could have a place to trade coins.  Since I was so far along I said why stop now?  I have a lot of features I'd like to add and if this all goes well I have 2 developers from work ready to join in with me and code this in a faster language along with a much more advanced engine.

I still have a lot of memcache stuff to get going, the ajax may be hard on the site right now.  Websockets etc.

Happy trading Smiley

Thank you for adding Black Coin!

Slept too long.. am I late to the party?!

Low bids so far... with this difficulty, price should be at least 100-200 satoshis imo.

I have not sold one Mint.  Cool

Patients, patients, patients.

What about doctors?

OnT:
Looks like a bright future for Mint. This truly is one of the more innovative coins!
138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RON] SwansonCoin [KGW] ** LAUNCH IN <60 MINS ** CryptoRush ** on: February 23, 2014, 04:18:55 AM
That was a shit launch. None of the pools worked. Someone had a ton of MH running solo. I had about 15mh running solo from the second the password dropped, all of the blocks I found were orphaned, so they clearly had me way out classed.

+1
I should of went solo.  Just got in a pool, dif already 3.1
Gross launch.
Great job Dev.   Undecided

They were in IRC shouting out how many solo blocks they've found to each other while Windows users couldn't get the wallet to work and everybody not attempting to solomine was left without a stable pool for over 30 minutes. People would ask questions and they're too busy high-fiving and telling people to stop crying to give a shit. Jokes on them though, the coin spent its first 30 minutes being instamined by a very small group of solominers, then pools finally came up for about 3 minutes before 1.5 Gh came out of nowhere and completely raped the coin. It's gonna be nothing but mass dump, solominers, the premine, and multipools. They shot themselves in the foot not giving a shit about everybody else, who's gonna buy your dump when only your inner circle likes the coin and had a good launch?

I'm all for riding the waves of a new get-rich-quick coin from some devs, but christ, these guys aren't the brightest bulbs with this sort of strategy. Enjoy your underwhelming cashout returns, could've done a lot better devs.

+1

I'm pulling out of this one... :-(
139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Frycoin][FRY] - Shut up and take my money! Coin image rebranded! on: February 23, 2014, 04:16:41 AM
Has anyone gotten the Mac wallet to work on Mavericks?

Sorry, do not have a Mac.

Did you try adding the extra nodes? And putting the frycoin.conf file in /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Frycoin/?

I'll try that now. Also to your previous post. I may be willing to help with a website at least on the front-end. Is there anyone else here working on this? I'm a pretty talented designer/developer. I'm not great when it comes to the server side stuff, but I'd certainly be willing to help out...

Dev! Hire this man!

Yeah...it's not there either.

Send e-mail or close this pool.... Sad

I found the email in the spam folder too...
