121  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 2TH/s, Batch 1 on Sale this week, shipping before Sept. Ends on: September 24, 2014, 07:07:46 PM
Still a render, no photos.
Also need power draw please Bitmain.

I suspect they will use the same chassis that the S2 was in… No reason to reinvent the wheel, it would have added to their design costs..

Crap, I so wanted so start mining with a s4... Sad seems there is no hardware that makes sense now Sad

I think the vendors got together and decided at this point it was best to push the small guys out so that they could develop their cloud mining operations .

Do what Burger King did. Buy a small startup that already has a business license in another country and ride its shirt tail . Have a friend in another country start a shell company and then buy it for a buck .
128  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Coinbase just told me I'm not eligible to purchase BTC. Because the price is up? on: August 25, 2014, 03:15:14 PM
It doesn't look like they canceled your order because the price went up, they canceled it because their internal risk models showed you as being a high risk customer. They likely do not take price into consideration when deciding if they are going to cancel a transaction as this would be negative to their reputation. With that being said I would highly doubt that a lot of people are going to be complaining that they canceled their order when the market turned against them.

No disrespect, but this is about the most lame answer I have ever seen. You can't accuse the customer being a risk in this case, the risk is all on the back of coinbase and them not wanting to take ANY type of loss that might be due to BTC price fluctuations . So they picked a business and want o limit their risk by screwing the customer, its that SIMPLE . if I put in a ACH transfer, and my bank accepts it the deal should be done . Its not like the customer didn't have the money . no where in this case do I see where the customer did not have the money or was declined by his bank. Simple answer, work local and buy BTC local via craigslist or something similar . This business model coinbase is using is from and era that has long since died .. Person to Person transitions is the best way to deal with this .
129  Economy / Speculation / Re: reason of price drop : Chinese exchanges dont have proof of 100% reserve on: August 18, 2014, 02:16:13 PM
I've said this all along… People who do not have and use a local wallet and put their trust in these exchanges are going to get hurt in a big way down the road just like the people of MtGox.

133  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 08, 2014, 05:41:53 PM
I'm ready to order two SP30's however am somewhat confused on the power requirments for the units.. When I look at the pic and try to understand the tech docs these look like two standard server Power Supplies with a 110 plug.. At my rack I have 4 20 amp circuits with the standard american wall outlet .. So, if I understand this right I can plug each PSU into its own 110 circuit and I should be OK >? Does this sound correct ? I have to wait 4 business days for my ACH transfer to complete so I have time to work this out.. Also I will be using Bitcoin to buy, so once I make the purchase will the first block confirmation put me on the list for the September delivery batch ? I'm really excited about getting these two units and look forward to testing them out for the users who frequent my site and IRC chat.. I have a lot of people asking about the units, so I'm trying to learn as much as possible .

136  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 【SOLD OUT】The last Batch of AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner, Now $1595 per unit on: August 05, 2014, 03:54:34 AM
lets discuss...

doubtful its 'just' a firmware update

much more likely is 28nm chips on new boards

knowing the chips rough ability in the S3, how many chips would be needed to arrive at '1.8-2TH/s' - or are we waiting on a 2nd batch of better chips??

considering some S2's currently hash around 1.0-1.1TH/s its not a huge increase for swapping out boards, that wont be cheap for the initial month or more

starting to see S2's for sale and wonder if these people are just upgrading to 28nm S3's or have calc'd that the upgrade wont really be worth it by the time it arrives.

etc

I've went over this a few times in my head... Here is a rough concept, let's say the kit is 8 cards would be around 1.8 TH/s I personally could live with that.. I'm guessing that 8 cards may need a slightly bigger PSU, I've not did the math on that part due to the fact that it's all a guess.. 8 S3 blades would do the trick, and it allow slightly better air flow. Honestly bitmain should have designed the s3 blade to be totally interchangeable with the s1 and s2, that would have drove down production and tooling costs in the long run.... I guess time will tell.

138  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S2 Setup [HD] on: July 24, 2014, 01:01:38 PM
I've seen some estemints that the S1 would be reach its usefulness in November, "meaning it would cost more in power then it could make in a day" … Has anyone seen any estaminets on the S2 ? I know that it somewhat depends on what you pay per kilowatt , but thought there might be a ball park figure… The S2 is under volted in contrast to the S1 so per GHs it draws less power..

I am trying to figure out if and when Bitmain comes out with an upgrade kit to the new less power hungry chip would it be a good idea to make the change. I don't see the point in jumping right on the upgrade train if the S2 in its current state is making money and how far past ROI it is ..
139  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 【SOLD OUT】The last Batch of AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner, Now $1595 per unit on: July 23, 2014, 02:54:49 PM
Yea, been tracking this but nothing since mid Junish... Last word was August/Sept timeframe.

Late september would be fine with me… I can't picture any S2 owner wanting to upgrade right now because not even the batch 1 units have been in the game long enough to ROI… So with that said you would be throwing away money unless there was a way to use the old cards .. It would be nice to see if someone could come up with a Pi mod or BBB mod to use the old boards.
140  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: GHash.IO Statement Regarding 51% Threat on: July 18, 2014, 02:08:09 PM
I have my doubts…. The day before they were about to crack the 51% total, they were sending out spam email asking people to jump in and help them… That shows me they had clear intent… No need to go any further then that .
