Does anybody know whether NASDAQ adopting blockchain technology would affect Symbiont?

For example, could it blaze a regulatory trail which would help? Or could it steal their thunder and make it hard for small start-ups to offer something unique enough to muscle in on the big boys' territory?

Small start-up? Did you look at the people involved in Symbiont?  Wink

do you create landing pages too? if you do, what's your price?

Yes!

Generally starts at 4 BTC, depending on topic, complexity, quality, etc. Do you also require graphic design, and mobile web design? Graphic design is handled separately by designers (which I can recruit if necessary), because I mainly specialize in writing and salesmanship.

It's also a question of: how much do you want to sell of what?

You can contact me at info@filipmartinka.com with more information and we can discuss a specific quote.

Does Symbiont or the Counterparty Foundation hold any XCP?

You for real?  Grin

Not hiring, but I was taken aback by your statement of being able to "reliably outperforms standard copywriting."
Do you have any copywriting portfolio available? Preferably with conversion metrics for digital products landing pages, opt-ins, subscriptions or anything similar.

I absolutely see your point.

Currently there is a small portion of my portfolio available on my website. Metrics for landing pages, e-mail clickthroughs, and others will be added soon (on goldwriter.net). I haven't had the time set up a layout yet, as I have been FLOODED with work recently). Please guys, give me some time to breathe.  Wink

For Shoprocket, we've had a 550% increase in profits over the year. And I'd like to think that I contributed at least partially to this result. (Currently it is in the 2.0 closed BETA).

More specifically: The initial e-mail campaign to restaurants had an open rate of ~14%, and a clickthrough rate of around 3% (of the total). I performed some copywriting alchemy, and boosted the open rate to 39-40% and the clickthrough rate to 8-10%. Funniest of all, they disregarded my advice and went with short copy instead of long form. Probably cost them a few percent again!

But before I get the time to throw together the metrics in a readable format (awesome HTML5 graphs hopefully), here is what I mean when I say "standard copywriting":

Once you've been in the business for a few years, you begin to notice a few things. I realized that my mind's eye was completely BLIND for the first five years! I've also been on the other side of the equation, as a hiring manager. The biggest surprise was how many people are simply copywriting as an 'easy way for a housewife to make an extra $500'. But with all due respect and no offense intended, they don't know what they are doing!

A friend of mine recently approached me with his dream of becoming a copywriter. He is neither a native speaker, nor trained in marketing. Off the bat, he wants to get $10-20 per hour. And he could! The problem here is that he spends 35 hours of his week fixing cars. He is a MECHANIC! He might spend 5 to 10 hours a week writing. So do I. The only problem here is that he spends the other 35 fixing cars! I spend the other 35 on understanding the product, the audience, and their innate motivations.

Much like writing fiction is 90% practice and 10% imagination, writing copy is 90% crafting calls to action and 10% writing.

I started copywriting (writing to SELL) back in middle school. I wrote charity brochures, ads, etc. Around 14 years ago, I started doing room service in a hotel that didn't have any. All I had was a box of sodas and a black and white printer... by the end of the month I bought my own Gameboy and some games. I wasn't writing stories, I was doing business from the start!

Now consider... I fixed my bicycle once, and my friend spent a few hours teaching me how to maintain a car... would you trust me to fix your car OR write your copy?

In a few cases, they may even be fantastic writers who consistently churn out gramatically perfect text...  But they don't get "it". They write to impress people, and to get the following reaction: "This is really well written! And so creative!"

Not a bad reaction... IF you are writing a book! (And even then, an author like E.L. James is neither a Hemingway nor full of brand new ideas.)

Standard copywriting, I would argue, is just that. It might impress you, sure... But 10 minutes later you're back to watching kittens do backflips, and a week later you wouldn't be able to name the product even if your life depended on it.

Goldwriting, as I call it, is in short supply. Goldwriting creates a brand, and has you spinning in your chair trying to figure out why you just bought 20 packages of something you didn't even know you needed 5 minutes ago.

TLDR: You can hire me or not, it all depends on whether you want the next Lord of the Rings, OR if you want your product to sell.  Cheesy

If Symbiont is using Ripple to make its Counterparty smart contracts application faster, why not just use Ripple's smart contracts framework Codius and skip Bitcoin and Counterparty entirely?

Then it's not trustless.

But is it trustless anyway since it will incorporate Ripple?

It's not incorporating Ripple, it's a gateway.  Smiley

These clowns are clueless https://hashtalk.org/topic/37218/release-xpy-colored-coins-officially-released

No one knows anything and those that do get blank stares

Beautiful. Someone finally releases an actual, open-source feature and nobody knows how to react. They've never seen a feature release before.

Can i get standard prices. Preferrably per 500 words. ive visited your website and its quite good. Did you create the complete website content of counterparty?

Thank you. I cooperated with the rest of the team on the content for the Counterparty website, worked on their SMM (social media marketing), as well as the majority of their documentation materials. The web design and layout was created by Humint.

My prices depend entirely on the type of writing, and more importantly, the context.

For blog or content writing, I charge a flat rate of 0.5 BTC (~$100) per 500 words.

However, I mainly specialize in boosting conversion rates and clickthroughs (CTR). So if you need strong sales copy, it's better if you send me a PM or e-mail to determine a specific quote. (Small Bitcoin start-ups and open-source projects get a discount!)

A unique service.. Good luck, this service is going to probably be a big thing.

Thank you! I must say I really appreciate your confidence. I'm actually in the process of setting up Goldwriter.net to create a recognizable brand for my services.

Can Counterparty facilitate decentralized apps beyond tokens and smart contracts?

This is why I'm not too much of a fan of the term 'smart contracts'. It's much more than that:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turing_completeness

You can create decentralized apps, etc. Anything. There are just two questions:

  • Are you willing to pay the fee?
  • Do you know how to write the code?

So, when Symbiont is up and running as a decentralised exchange - it'll be powered by the XCP network? In other words, all Symbiont transactions will run through XCP?

I don't get how that would happen - I understand the transaction-speed/bandwidth(?) of the bitcoin network is too slow to accommodate the demands of the financial markets. Am I something here?

CoinDaddy.io just released its counterwallet and Counterparty development servers http://www.reddit.com/r/counterparty_xcp/comments/33m39y/ann_coindaddyio_hosts_public_counterwallet/

I think this was really needed. Maybe now people won't mistake it for a centralized service. Smiley

Sounds more like Ripple bought a slave.

Huh?

Why XCP is valuable?
Is XCP to XCP protocol like XRP to Ripple protocol?
Thanks

Ripple is distributed, Counterparty is also decentralized.

They way I understand it is that XCP is not meant to be an alternative currency, i.e. you wouldn't buy a pizza with it. It's the internal token of the Counterparty platform, it represents stake in the protocol (e.g. for foundation voting, etc), and is used for various spam fees inside the protocol.

Most importantly, XCP is the fuel for smart contracts. No more XCP can ever be created, and XCP are being used up for the running of each execution step of a decentralized application (a.k.a. smart contract). It will not be possible to compensate the running of Dapps without XCP.

NOTE: It's important to keep in mind that many things are being called smart contracts nowadays (even multi-sig), but the difference here is that XCP smart contracts are fully programmable (turing-complete) and entirely peer-to-peer (while some other services are centralized).

So basically:

it's the main currency of the smart contracts system (very underrated)
* it is available on exchanges
* it is necessary for spam fees
* it's deflationary, and supply is decreasing asymptotically
* there was NO pre-mine or pre-sale of any kind
* it is used for foundation voting regarding the future of Counterparty

The coolest thing that the Ripple gateway makes possible are instant-transactions with tokens. Combine that with the smart contracts system, and XCP is a beast.

Vennd put up public development servers for anyone to use, awesome.  Cool

Keep selling guys, there's always someone with stronger hands at the other side.

or a much stupider hand, you know, it could turn out one way or the other.

if XCP was a sure thing, everybody and their mama would have some by now.

Just like everyone and their mama had Bitcoins a year after it was released? What about Apple computer in 1977?  Google in 1999?

I think you may be just a little bit quick on the draw here. And unfortunately appeal to popularity has never proved anything before: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argumentum_ad_populum

“There is no reason anyone would want a computer in their home.” — Ken Olson, president, chairman and founder of Digital Equipment Corp. (DEC), maker of big business mainframe computers, arguing against the PC in 1977.

“Lee DeForest has said in many newspapers and over his signature that it would be possible to transmit the human voice across the Atlantic before many years. Based on these absurd and deliberately misleading statements, the misguided public … has been persuaded to purchase stock in his company …” — a U.S. District Attorney, prosecuting American inventor Lee DeForest for selling stock fraudulently through the mail for his Radio Telephone Company in 1913.

“There is practically no chance communications space satellites will be used to provide better telephone, telegraph, television, or radio service inside the United States.” — T. Craven, FCC Commissioner, in 1961

“There is not the slightest indication that nuclear energy will ever be obtainable. It would mean that the atom would have to be shattered at will.” — Albert Einstein, 1932

“The Americans have need of the telephone, but we do not. We have plenty of messenger boys.” — Sir William Preece, Chief Engineer, British Post Office, 1878.

“The world potential market for copying machines is 5000 at most.” — IBM, to the eventual founders of Xerox, saying the photocopier had no market large enough to justify production, 1959.

There are plenty of psychological barriers to be overcome, even for Bitcoin itself! We are inside a developing microcosm right here. Sit back and enjoy the show.
138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Whats happening at Poloniex? on: March 02, 2015, 02:42:23 PM
Don't be mad at Poloniex.... if it was any other exchange you probably would have never gotten your account back. For example, BTC-e would write you a half-russian message that makes no sense and ignore you for the next 2 years.  When it happened to my friend at a Chinese exchange, they told him "too bad, don't lose your e-mail, it's not our fault and we cannot verify your identity".... Smiley

Busoni is a good guy.

this looks like a great project, but how can it be monatized.

How can what be monetized? You can create businesses that use "pure Bitcoin" features of Counterparty (assets, trading, broadcasts) or more advanced XCP-enabled features (smart contracts, betting, distributions). How you 'monetize' them is entirely up to you. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you?

Counterparty as a project itself is 100% open-source and non-profit, like Bitcoin. You cannot 'monetize' Bitcoin, but you can create projects and exchanges which profit from using it. Does that make sense?
140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: March 02, 2015, 11:30:18 AM
The Medici thing did help in pumping the XCP price a lot and I personally benefited from that pump. However, to be honest the final outcome seems not so good and the progress of counterparty itself was significantly slowed down by the digress of its two core devs. Hopefully, the return of core devs could help counterparty to secure its advantage of being the first usable BTC based 2.0 platform.

Que?

The final outcome is that Medici is still using XCP, and that new (!) devs were hired for Counterparty as soon as Overstock started Medici.

That Medici is also adding other platforms as well as XCP later somehow a negative thing? So increasing liquidity and connecting platforms with Counterparty is somehow the end of the world and a reason to sell? I was expecting it to pump the price even further, but after all, the markets are irrational!

If I told you that Example Exchange A is adding XCP to be tradeable with something else, like XCP or litecoin, would everyone also dump and cry?

Medici is using XCP primarily, adding support for other platforms, and the Counterparty dev team is coding and growing. That people are selling at the burn price makes me laugh, reminds me of Ronald Wayne, who sold 10% of Apple for $800... Keep selling guys, there's always someone with stronger hands at the other side.

P.S. If I had more BTC to spend at the moment, I'd join the bandwagon of being uncomfortable about the Medici situation too and post nervously... Because you gotta remember, crypto is a free for all... If someone convinces you to buy high and sell low, well. They win. Wink
