so has anyone actually received the email instruction to sign in today later when MtGox opens?
Not yet, I'm still waiting and bailing to Bitcoin7 when we finally get access. All we can do is wait...

Hey guys, Its Nick from bitcoin7.com.
This is my personal account and from now on if you have any questions, I will be more than happy to address them through pm or open discussion.
I believe the same goes for my partner Chris as well.
I also want to thank the community for the valuable feedback. No offense really taken and it really helped us to better shape our goals and strategy for our future improvement.
Cheers, Nick Bitcoin7
Good to hear from the guys behind the curtain, I signed up for Bitcoin7 around the time of the Mt. Gox problem and have been happy with the site and service. I also like the referral system and think it's a great way to spread the word. Keep up the good work guys, and if anyone needs a referral read the sig!

Hopefully it happens soon, but they need to confirm accounts first.

Got my request in last night, it's been about 20 hours and I've heard nothing. I'm sure it takes a long time to confirm these things manually, but get more people on the job, we're just sitting and waiting here with frustration. I've already signed up for two other sites and have funds on their way to start buying bitcoins elsewhere, but I'd like to get my coins out of Mt. Gox quickly!

I've never even heard of mybitcoin, but these sites need to increase their security so that they don't continue to have these hacking problems.

What are you guys switching to? I've looked at and signed up for Bitcoin7 and Tradehill, but what sites does everyone else think are secure or better than what will be left of Mt. Gox?

The 643.2771BTC I withdrew from Mt Gox before trading was halted has been used to question my motives. To try to prove my intentions, I have moved the entire balance to an escrow account at Clearcoin: https://clearcoin.appspot.com/status/r_H5PyEWwb5wEa8RTbrMTY8kI cannot retrieve them for a month now. The options are: 1) I press the release button and donate them to the Bitcoin Faucet 2) The FBI accepts "Kevin logged in within 15 minutes of the attacker" as enough evidence to arrest me and seize my wallet as evidence and/or I end up convicted and the FBI buys some new socks and night lights for the whole office with the balance. 3) One month from now, when things have calmed down and I am obviously not arrested, they'll be returned to me and hopefully by then we will have determined their rightful home. It would be an incredible show of faith if Mt Gox would volunteer to do something similar, but I'm not making this demand off them. Kevin, This I can applaud and support fully. Well done.

I finally got through just now to the site and sent my information through and new ridiculous password. Hopefully they confirm it quickly and we can get this show on the road, I'm done with Mt. Gox, and the bitcoins I have in my account have taken a major devaluation over this entire matter, not happy especially when I bought at $18 and have instantly lost money by them now being down at the $13 mark.

After this experience I'm completely done with Mt. Gox, what a damn joke! I still can't go in to confirm my information because it's overloaded. I just want my coins and I want off your exchange, this is insane.

Website isn't working for me, come on Mt Gox seriously?

Not mentioned here is that fact that dozens of MTGOX hashed passwords were quietly disclosed on a hash cracking forum on Fri Jun 17, 2011 5:21 am ( http://forum.insidepro.com/viewtopic.php?t=9124&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=75&sid=1a9e31567fe815c0eea63c40c39fb707 post by "georgeclooney") Since the overwhelming majority but not all of the hashes match the mtgox database that was posted on this forum (now deleted) and elsewhere I suspect that this post may have been generated from an earlier dump than was disclosed on the forums and everywhere else after the big event. This appears to be significantly ahead of the prior claimed breach, and is consistent with the great many other mtgox users claiming that their accounts were robbed prior to the big event on Sunday, which I believe would have been too early to be results of the mtgox database leak according to the official timeline re: auditor compromise. Jesus Christ.....

The site isn't up for me.....

So let me get this right. An account was hacked, some guy put in a bunch of orders at basically a penny and was able to make out with 600 plus bitcoins valued at well over $7000 and he's bitching about it because he didn't illegally become a millionaire at the expense of someone else that perpetrated a crime? Wow...............take your free $7000 and run, I mean seriously?
|
|
|
Kevin,
Someone hacking another persons account isn't right, and it also shouldn't allow for you to become a millionaire on wrong doing. It's pure greed plain and simple, and it's sad that you would want to "accept" what is basically stolen goods. Congrats....I guess?

They said sometime after 1pm..not sure what time zone they are in though, however they also said it may be longer depending on their investigation.
Thanks, I'm not sure if I should bail out and sell my 22+ coins looking to buy at lower prices or if I should just ride it out. My last purchase was at the $18 level, I was going to sell back at a similar level last night but decided not to, I'd have a decent little chunk of cash in my account if I had done that, but now I'm stuck with the coins at a much lower market price than they would have been at had this not happened. Tomorrow morning will be interesting to say the least. Massive sell off could be in the works.

Thanks for the info, I was hoping for a set time, but it sounds like it's completely up in the air. I'm not sure if I should sell off in the morning (22) coins, or if I should transfer them to another provider? Anyone know the easiest way to transfer your coins to a different service?

Can anyone tell me what time Mt. Gox opens in the morning central time in north america? I want to make sure I'm up and ready to change my password with the workday ahead.

I got this email an hour ago, I can now throw away my email address of 15 years at it will be scammed and phished to death through this.

Madmax,
I got that one as well, and I'm sure there will be a host of others coming. Does anyone know what time Mt. Gox is supposed to be back online tomorrow morning so we can change our passwords? I'm worried the hacker is going to get in before I do, I wish we had access right now, this is nuts.
