yeah, I'm disappointed too. Oh well, what is the next coin launch? Deletecoin? Blitzcoin? Europacoin?

1. We are not getting to $200 ever again. 2. The only way we possibly COULD get to $200 in the next month is IF the FBI dumped DPR's stash on the exchanges all at once. 3. The FBI won't be touching the coins until DPR is found guilty because otherwise they have to return the coins to him. 4. Attempted murder cases typically run over a year and drug trafficking cases aren't much quicker. 5. So this won't be happening, so there is ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE of $200 unless bitcoin fails completely due to broken encryption or something.
I concur. BTC will never hit $200 again, unless it is on its death-bed ... very unlikely.

There just needs to be more software that makes BTC handling easier. Kind of like the way "dumb computer users" use Macs over Windows or Linux.

How many do I own? Not enough!!

URGENT!! Sell USD!!! You'll never make money by hoarding USD!!! USD is going nowhere!!! Instead, trade them for BTC!!!

Too many unknown variables at the moment are leading people to tread cautiously around bitcoin:
1. Mt. Gox: We don't know if the coins were stolen by a 3rd party or not. Nor do we know if/when the coins will be dumped, or if they have already been dumped and factored into the market. Moreover, a lot of people are starting to distrust all of the exchanges. They're gonna have to implement an open/transparent and decentralized system before I deposit anything back onto an exchange.
2. Satoshi p2p account activity: If that was really Satoshi that posted that comment, that means that he is still watching bitcoin expand, and who knows what he'll do with all those coins he mined.
3. Negative media exposure: Media outlets have been attacking bitcoin pretty hard lately. If you read the comments on some news sites, there is much more negative attention directed towards BTC by the general population than there was a year ago. While this point is not really an unknown variable, it can slow the adoption rate for bitcoin.
But the fact that it is sitting at 600+ and not the 100-level, means overall, people are still very optimistic, even with the negative exposure.

The primary thing that would make it fail is if the majority of bitcoin holders stop believing in it. Until then, bitcoin will continue to rise.

Target got hacked and millions of users' data stolen, mostly including credit card information. Yet Target continues to be strong, and the credit card industry continues to be strong.
Bitcoin is certainly strong enough to withstand a few hackers.

|
|
It will only collapse if everyone WANTS it to collapse. Last I checked most bitcoin users want it to succeed. This will drive the price back up.

Neither Bitcoin nor humans will exist in 2040.
What do you predict to be our extinction event? Microsoftcoin released, with wallets mandatory on all OS versions.

Given the current markets, if I was going to sell my (non-existent) house, then I would sell it for solarcoins, not for bitcoins.

HEY DEV!!! Still waiting, is KGW going to be turned on at the launch?
Very sorry, I missed your earlier post. KGW will be on at launch. That's a shame, you're going to kill the launch. I'm not wasting my hashpower on this, since KGW will only cause the difficulty to spike in a matter of minutes.
The entire point of being the first to get in on a launch is to take advantage of low difficulty. I tried stressing this to the DEV a couple of time, as have other people here. I was really looking forward to solomining this, but with KGW it's pointless. lol You want an instamine, good to know. Yes, instamine ... to a point. It should be considered a perk of being the first to mine ... at least for a few minutes. But KGW means instamine only for the very first person, and only for a few seconds. I refuse to mine it. I'm not mining it. I won't mine it. I'm not going to mine it. Okay, maybe I'll mine it. But just for a little bit. It's hard to resist a new coin. I'm a sucker. ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

... And even if a government outlawed bitcoin, there is no way they can enforce it, especially with software like Tor out there.

Looks like we finally have an altcoin with the potential to overpower doge
|
|

but for now, the alts are all tied to btc. If btc goes up, alt goes up.

Holy crap, these guys are for real!! No wonder the buy orders are 10x that of the sell orders. I wish there were more altcoins that had great ideas like these solarcoin guys.
