A lot of complaints are coming in from the fans, regarding ticket rates at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The lowest priced tickets are available for $250 each, while the more expensive ones are available for anything from $2,500 to $10,000. And this has been one of the reasons for poor crowd attendance in matches completed so far. BTW, the tickets for India vs Pakistan match are almost sold out, as per media reports. Diamond Club tickets were sold for $10,000 apiece, while Corner Club and Premium Club Lounge tickets went for $2,750 and $2,500 respectively. In India, usually the ticket prices start from $3 to $5, depending on the city.

With one more round of matches remaining, both India and Afghanistan are struggling with 5 points each in Group A of AFC second round. India's next match is against Qatar, so it will be difficult for them to qualify to the next round. In Group C, China has almost assured of qualification to the next round. The same can be said about Palestine, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Yesterday all the attention was taken up by the Pakistan vs USA game. Did anyone watched the Namibia vs Scotland match? I was supporting Namibia, but being one of the top associate nations Scotland managed to win the match quite handsomely. Namibia got to a decent total of 155/9, thanks to Gerhard Erasmus and Zane Green. But then Scotland batsmen chased down the target with plenty of overs to spare. Ruben Trumpelmann and David Wiese were not very effective against Scotland.

A lot of hype is being created in the US after they defeated Pakistan yesterday. A lot of people who have never heard about cricket are now actively posting about it in social media channels such as Twitter and Instagram. For Pakistan, it can be really humiliating. Their fans have reacted quite strongly (which is not really surprising, given the ticket prices at the world cup). Now it is not very sure whether Pakistan may qualify for the Super8 stage or not. Dodgy batting from Pakistan but considering their lethal bowling lineup, guess they have enough runs on the board.
They know how to defend such totals against any batting lineup and USA might be high on confidence due to their brave performance but they have an inexperienced batting lineup. Won't mind some upset here though.
Teams have struggled to chase down two digit totals so far in this tournament. Considering this, 159/7 from Pakistan is more than enough to get them two points as well as a big boost in the net run rate. But then, the US bowlers had Pakistan struggling at 26/3, and then again at 98/5. But they failed to capitalize on the wickets and allowed Pakistani lower order (especially Iftikhar Ahmed and Shaheen Shah Afridi) to score valuable runs and build crucial partnerships. Also, they could have used Corey Anderson more, as his medium pace was troubling the batsmen. |

This was possible only the performance of starter batter of Zimbabwe women sqaud both Beloved Biza and Kelis Ndhlovu made very strong batting partnership and total collected 97 scores with long lasting partnership. Christine Mutasa also played very superb inning in batting and collected 36 scores. Irrespective of who wins today, the way this tournament was conducted is yet another proof of how cricket is growing in Africa. The best part is that all the 8 teams who took part in this edition of the Kwibuka Women's T20 Tournament were comprised almost entirely of native players. This is a lot different from the situation in other continents, where most of the teams are comprised of expats from India or Pakistan. I just hope that the ICC doesn't discriminate against the African teams (similar to what they did to Kenya two decades ago) just because they don't have expats in their teams. |

Apart from AFG vs NZL, the other matches are BAN vs SL, NED vs SA and AUS vs ENG. The last one (Australia vs England) is going to be one of the toughest matches in the group phase of this tournament. And this is a match between two of the tournament favorites. For India, the big match will take place on Sunday, when they will take on Pakistan.

The Netherlands is a much better team than Nepal, and the result was the manifestation of this. The given target was not enough for the Nepal bowlers to defend, but they did well and took the game till the 2nd last over.
The World Cup is slowly losing its charm because of these low-scoring games. Carriabain pitches are known for low scores, but the USA pitches are also behaving somewhat similarly. This is not the way to introduce cricket to a new nation.
I disagree with your argument that pitches in the Caribbean are known for low scores. This is something that has been observed during this tournament. Anyway, let's hope that things will change once the tournament progresses. And from what I have seen, medium pacers and spinners are making the maximum use of pitch conditions. During the match between Australia and Oman, it was the medium pacer Marcus Stoinis who got the maximum number of wickets, ahead of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood. |

Australia vs Oman
The 10th match of T20 World Cup between Oman and Australia has started. Oman won the toss and elected to bowl. Australia batsmen did not perform well today. Travis Head, the player who performed well in IPL, did not perform well today, he was dismissed for 12 runs off 10 balls. Mitchell Marsh is out for 14 off 21 balls. Glenn Maxwell he is currently performing very badly, got out with 1 ball today too. Against a team like Australia, Oman's bowlers have bowled very well which is commendable. So far Australia has collected 60 runs in 11 overs losing 3 wickets. If Australia score 120+ it will be difficult for Oman to chase. Let's see how many runs Australia can give the target in the end.
Disappointing for the Australians. First of all, they could manage a total of only 164/5, with Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell getting out cheaply. Oman batted very well against Australia, they bowled and batted fairly well, if Oman's opening batsman could have been a bit more responsible against Australia, the result of the match could have been different. Because the Australia team came down to bat against the target of 165 runs and lost wickets in the beginning, but due to the responsible batting of the next batsmen, the Oman team collected 125 runs in the scheduled 20 overs. Australia's bowling line is strong I thought maybe Oman will be all out in few runs. But the Oman team put up a competitive performance against Australia. Australia team won the match by 39 runs against Oman. The Australian team would undoubtedly have beaten them by a bigger margin against a weaker team like the strong Oman team.
Experimenting with David Warner as the opener is not working very well for Australia. He made 56 from 51 balls, but Australia got to a decent total only because of Marcus Stoinis (67 from 36 balls). And I still don't understand why the Australian selectors gave preference to Warner instead of Jake Fraser McGurk. Jake would have been a better partner for Travis Head. Mitchell Marsh also had a poor day today, as he struggled against the Omani bowlers. And as usual Glenn Maxwell got out for a duck. |

Uganda vs Papua New Guinea
Judging from the previous game of both of these teams, expected PNG to win this one since despite the loss they gave a good fight to West Indies, while the Uganda was completely thrashed by Afghanistan.
Uganda won this one but it was more due to poor performance of PNG, especially in batting and fielding, even with this meagre score PNG could have won the match had they did not drop catches.
Anyway, congrats to Uganda, they were really happy with their world cup win.
The pitch was very supportive of the bowlers. Papua New Guinea batsmen ignored this and wanted to score quick runs. On the other hand, the Uganda bowlers (both pacers and spinners) bowled with a very tidy line and length. They managed to pick up wickets at regular intervals. PNG had a chance when they had Uganda down to 26/5. And when the score was 36/5, Charles Amini dropped a very easy chance from Riazat Ali Shah. That cost them the match. Shah went on to make 33. |

First we have PNG vs Uganda where the Papua New Guinea bat first and scored a very low target as expected while I am really impressed from Uganda because they work hard to filled the required gap despite they lose huge numbers of wickets on such tough pitch but thank to Paksitani born Oman player Ali Shah who really add a significant contribution and won the important match of the tournament.
Surprisingly Oman really give tough time to one of the best team of the tournament Australia especially in early overs because Australian I think took them really easy while due to support from pitch Thier bowler really showed his colour and took any early handsome wickets and the most shocking things is Australian were around 120 in 16th over which really showed how betterly Oman bowler done his job but unfortunately while chase they unable to fullfill the required and thus lose the match.
You can't compare Uganda or Papua New Guinea with Oman. The first two teams competed in this tournament with a majority native squad, while Oman didn't had any of it's citizens in its team. And I really doubt whether Australia took the match against Oman seriously. They are not even one of the strongest associate nations. Both Uganda and Papua New Guinea receive far less funding from the ICC when compared to Oman and the other GCC teams. Therefore I would give more value to their performances. |

Only one more round of matches are remaining at group phase in 2024 Kwibuka Women's T20 Tournament. Uganda has already qualified for the final, as they have won all of the 6 matches played so far. Rwanda is at no.3 position right now and they can qualify for the final instead of Zimbabwe A, if they are able to beat the Zimbabweans tomorrow at the Gahanga International Cricket Stadium. Remember that Rwanda were the champions last time (in 2023). Back then Uganda were the runners up.

From what I have seen from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup matches so far, it looks like the pitches offer a lot of support for the bowlers. Australia could only get to 164/5 despite being against one of the weakest teams in the tournament (Oman). Namibia struggled to chase a target of 110 against Oman a few days back and today Uganda almost lost while chasing a target of 77. Subcontinent teams are going to struggle a bit, as they are unfamiliar with bowler friendly conditions.

Another one-sided match today between Ireland and India at the United States. Rohit completed his half-century, and Rishabh Pant is at the other end. India will get two easy points and a big boost in NRR. And given the fact that the only other full member nation in their group is Pakistan, it is almost confirmed that India will qualify for Super 8 (they will qualify even if they lose to Pakistan). The real competition will star during the Super 8 phase. Group phase is turning out to be too easy.
