I would advice that you Just hold BTC and ETH for the long term > 2 years and altcoins for the short term. I like EOS, but I think it's something for a year, as this is the one to go with the next stage of Ethereum/Plasma rollout. But Ethereum will move on, new products will come up and new coins will come too. Eventually value are added to the main chain.

 storing crypto in exchanges is not recommended, you have no access to your funds, it's not a wallet thus, you get no private keys whatsoever. If something happens, account compromised for whatever reason, exchange somehow hacked, you will lose your funds and then good luck trying to recover them back. Some of the most well-known exchanges are Kraken, Bitstamp, Poloniex or Coinsbank, there are literally a ton.
