I think I figured it out...

At first I just don't think the blockchain was up to speed even though it said it was...

When I copied the bitcoin address of my phone and texted it to my pc and sent .1 btc from my pc it said the address was invalid.  I tried again a few hours later and it worked.

Then, when I went to send, from the phone back, the app has where you enter the amount, and optional
fee... which i think was .0005
 
So I was trying to send .2 back out, leaving the fee on.. and it kept telling me an error msg) problem with payment.

So I tried sending out .1995 instead of .2 and THAT worked instantly...

I thought the app would deduct the fee on it's own but it doesn't.. so that might be what is messing up some people. Deduct the transaction fee yourself or turn it off.

Oddly it suddenly fixed itself on it's own without a -rescan

This was NOT an old old wallet.. just a few hours prior to spending 25 btc and I just wnted to see how it would handle it and figured it was better to experiment when I had no coins in the wallet than to experiment when i did.

Now it appears back to normal and has just some newly mined coins in it.... the spent 25 vanished but for a bit it looked like they were there.

I don't do auto updates on anything anymore because I have found the inverse of what you are saying to sometimes be true.  I had a couple of GREAT apps that were destroyed in upgrades, so I turned off all auto updating.  Non ad apps got ads added and features removed.. or new bugs.. ect.  I wait before upgarding versions to make sure everything is stable. At least in the android world.

I have version 1.31 and for a while, even though it said I was at 100% sync, when I would copy the address and send it to my pc and try to send some bitcoins to the phone it would say it was invalid.  A few got lost.

A lot of people post great reviews on things they like as well, so I am not so sure about your only the broken people post theory.

The bitcoin client itself should support the scan thing so you can easily send to computer or phone and phone / computer.

Maybe we are using different versions of software or app here. What exact APP and version number are you using?

I have had issues with it.  It worked smoothly a few times...  a few .1 transactions disappeared into the great nothing from the never ending story.  I was just sending a few .1 btc back and forth to test it, and a lot of other people have complained so I don't know what the variance is causing the trouble... but it's not working smoothly for a lot of people according to reviews.

I thought maybe the network needed to just update the blocks.

I don't understand the point of backing up wallets then.. say I backup my wallet everyday, or week or whatever,
but between the last backup and the latest, I have spent some coins... and then my computer blows up
and I install the last backup...  I thought the network was supposed to detect my key and automatically bring me back to the proper amount of coins I should have... if it just give me an invalid wallet... isn't this just as bad
as losing all your coins?

I don't get it.  This is why I tried this only when I had 0 coins... I figured it might initially show the last coin account from the backup wallet but then update itself through the network to the real amount of coins that specific wallet key is supposed to have?  Isn't that how it's supposed to work?

Am I doing something wrong?  Note these are not two separately created wallets - I have those.. this is the same wallet, just a backup of a day earlier.

Ok so I regularly backup my wallet.dat and I also have some other wallet.dat savings where I created a new wallet and sent it coins then offlined it.

Since I spent a bunch of bitcoins lately by wallet was at 0 so just out of curiosity I renamed the wallet.dat backup.wallet.dat and then grabbed my last backup when I had like 25 btc in it

The 25 btc are there? What gives?

It's the same wallet key just a backup should this not be.. I should still see 0 right?

And no, this is not one of my savings wallets with transferred money this is just a daily backup before I spent the 25.

I use one of my main systems all the time, I just don't have the display graphics card as maxed out as the other cards... they are all mining but I can still smoothly use my system while getting 1200 mhash

The android app is buggy and slow and you better have a big sd card in there and a good wifi connection....
don't bother trying to use it well on just 3g the blockchain is always lagging behind.

I do, and I back the wallet.dat up to an offline usb stick and delete and start new so I have a bunch of little savings wallets of BTC, but this is for when say - I want to buy or sell to either make some cash from my BTC or buy up a bunch of BTC when they drop to low prices....
 
As it stands you were screwed unless you had a balance on one of the sites, but with ExchB you can get money in and buy BTC fast.
 
I haven't tried selling and seeing how far they are with cashing out I'll let you know how that goes.

I have 1020 / 320 mem and aggression at about 8 or 9 with fans at 80% and they have been stable
This is in a FULL tower antec 1200 case with plenty of airflow in an air conditioned room.  Cards stay at about 70c

More efficient of power but less efficient in hashing so 58xx series = greater profit still.
5830 / 5850 is sweet spot.  I have 4 more 5830s unopened waiting for a mobo and junk... and then I'll have 8 of them mining at about 2600 mhash

Does campBX have the same several hour turn around for U.S. based? It was seriusly fast I deposited at about 9:30 had funds at around 11:30.  I assume they are doing this manually now since they are a small operation but that's hella convenient.  No high charges either.. just a buck.

Well most of these can be consolidated into "bankers"  public debt is just banker endless fractional reserve banking. Actually no real money exists at this point. All debt.

The Dwolla to Gox wasn't bad but the bank to Dwolla and Dwolla to bank is slow as all hell.

Deposited cash in the morning at a chase bank down the block,  scanned and e-mailed them the receipt and my user info, and had the funds within a few hours, bought some bitcoins, and had them fairly fast.  So as far as I know for anyone in the U.S. this is currently the only way if you have cash and you want bitcoins for something now, you can get it in under a day.  I give them thumbs up.

Prices are going low so I bought a chunk.  Someone's dumping.

I'll be at the next NYC one if the world is still here and if bitcoin is still here. Someone's dumping quite some amounts today it seems it's dropped 3 bucks in the last few hours.  Before their is another "official conference" I'll probably come to one of the NYC meetups so I'm sure I'll meet those of you NYC based bitpeeps.

Problem is the dwolla middle makes things SLOW for MtGox and I don't trust keeping large amounts of cash or bitcoins there. Want to do the trade and move em in or out - i think we have all learned our lessons from that.

I just deposited cash with ExchB we will see how fast they really are and if they are reliable.  Seems a bit sketchy meaning you don't have a user name or account on the deposit.. you just send them a scan of the receipt but what if many users deposit the same amount from similar locations?  Anyway so I deposited a very strange number to hopefully move it through fast.
That was about a half hour ago 9:30 am NYC business time let's see how fast they respond.  If they are fast they have my business.

 

I have my aquarium on top of it and it keeps it at the perfect temp of about 78c.  The aquarium cools the case and the case warms the aquarium. 

Talk about liquid cooling.

If the aquarium ever busts though I will have some fried graphics cards and some fried fish.
