121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NLG] Guldencoin — Pay for food, books, websites, tattoo removal and more on: August 07, 2014, 03:42:35 PM
I think it's important to understand that the goal is not to sell the developer premine. The goal is to gather funds so we can pay this iOS developer to create an awesome iOS wallet.  I for one would be most happy if we as a community could raise this money without having to sell any coins from the dev premine at all. The goal is an iOS wallet. If you want to buy coins: they're cheaper at bittrex.

Having said that, I do agree with this method to get funds in exchange for NLG as it might be more effective and fast. It's just that I would just be more happy if we could all donate (crowd funding) so we keep more dev premine coins in stash and use them  at a later stage.

If you wish to donate BTC or EUR, please contact us per mail or post here on the forum.

Is there some kind of 'mission statement' for the purpose of the pre-mined NLG?  I understand some portion of the 170,000,000 NLG is dedicated to distribution to dutch citizens, are there any other details?   When I saw the post this morning I thought to myself 'what a great use of the pre-mine!'.

Respectfully --Mark

Whilst I get the idea of selling only 4m NLG, if you were to put up 6m at 113 SAT each, you're a LOT closer to the current market price, and you'll get your BTC in no time.

I would worry about how many will want to spend out BTC that much over the going market rate - even though it's for the greater good.

Agree.  70%-80% mark up is a tough sell.  At 113 satoshi you'll raise the BTC quick.  If we do 600 packages of 10.000 NLG each package, I'll purchase the first 100 packages today and you can give a down payment to the developer to get him going.  I'll keep it in cold storage until the Eurocup betting starts up in 2016 on nlgcup.com. Smiley Will post the guldencoin address once received if anyone wants to track it, it's not going anywhere.
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NLG] Guldencoin — New offline merchant! on: August 04, 2014, 03:36:58 PM
great work on the new merchant!!  so excited about the future of NLG.

On a side note, about nlgcup.com,  I saw a few posts up there was some talk about running it again for 2016 Euro cup, I'm definitely all for that.  great idea!  As far as using it for champions league group stage, my only concern is that since the champions league is a much longer duration (sept 2014 to june 2015) with a lot more games, many of the matches probably wouldn't get a single bet.   If people who are interested in betting see there are no counter bets, they'll stop showing up.  I could be totally wrong on this, just my instinct.  If they do run it for champions league (nlgleague.com?) I'll definitely be there to support it.

The beauty of the Euro cup / World cup is those competitions are a short period of time combined with the fact that they are national team level, so folks who aren't even into football get excited about it.    Similar to the olympics, I don't follow speed skating much until it's winter olympics time, then I become a hardcore speedskating fan for a few week rooting for the Dutch Smiley

NLG.CripToe.Com is closed down, and is now just a port on the CripToe.Com NOMP pool.  I've been watching the hashrate of the pools a lot lately.  Not too happy about seeing 200+MH on hardcoreminers constantly when there are other pools that don't have a single user.  I've made a few posts about this in the past.  While the majority of the hashrate is from unknown sources, it would be better to keep the known hashrate evened out.

Spread the hash and keep the network healthy.

-Fuse

switched my miners over to criptoe.com.  working fine.  Will keep them pointed here to spread the hash.  To be honest what attracted me to hardcoreminers is not the hashrate but the user interface that comes along with MPOS.  I can see earnings over last hour/day/week/etc., personal hourly hashrate graphs over the past 24 hours, transaction log, I can check up on things via an mpos android app, etc..

on the plus side for criptoe I do like the simplicity of the interface (no login required) and snappiness.

000MH/s:  http://gulden.p2p.0x0a.nl:27100 (stratum still alive?)
..

http://gulden.p2p.0x0a.nl:27100 is accepting shares and running on the latest wallet (v1.1.7.0). It's been about three weeks though since anyone came along to mine  Cry By the way, I'm using Spekske's p2pool source from https://github.com/Spekske/p2pool-rav except with BOOTSTRAP_ADDRS set to gulden.p2p.0x0a.nl since Spekse's p2pool server is no longer running. I hope to put it up on my github later this week so that it's easier for others to set up p2pool nodes - p2pool can use a little push Wink

I tried pointing my gridseeds at your server but it's not working for me.. thus the comment 'stratum still alive?'.  I use cgminer 3.7.2 (nicehash built binary) on linux.  your entry in my config file is as follows:

"pools" : [
        {
                "url" : "stratum+tcp://gulden.p2p.0x0a.nl:27100",
                "user" : "GXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX",
                "pass" : "X"
        }
]

when I look at the entry for this pool in pool management I get the following:

4: Enabled Dead Quota 1 Prio 4: stratum+tcp://gulden.p2p.0x0a.nl:27100  User:GXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

When turning on verbose display I see the following:

[2014-07-29 22:28:35] Testing pool stratum+tcp://gulden.p2p.0x0a.nl:27100
 [2014-07-29 22:28:36] Pool 4 difficulty changed to 0.040756
 [2014-07-29 22:28:36] Pool 4 JSON stratum auth failed: {
   "message": "Service not found",
   "data": null,
   "code": -32601
}

maybe old version of cgminer is the problem?..  I usually mine at hardcoreminers which works fine.
126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NLG] Guldencoin — New website! on: July 29, 2014, 08:22:38 PM
on the topic of pools, hashrate, and security of the blockchain, docs.guldencoin.com lists the following pools under 'the coin' -> 'mining':

http://nlg.criptoe.com
https://nlg.hardcoreminers.com
http://gulden.p2p.0x0a.nl:27100
http://pool.mycryptoco.in
http://dutchpool.org:8000
http://dutchpool.org:27100/static

I tried to go to each one and get the current hashrate.. got the following..

HASH:   url
---------------------------
025MH/s:  http://nlg.criptoe.com (invalid url? criptoe.com works)
234MH/s:  https://nlg.hardcoreminers.com
000MH/s:  http://gulden.p2p.0x0a.nl:27100 (stratum still alive?)
000MH/s:  http://pool.mycryptoco.in
013MH/s:  http://dutchpool.org:8000 (invalid url? dutchpool.org works)
???MH/s:  http://dutchpool.org:27100/static (invalid url? different than above?)

272MH/s: total hash from above

According to seeds.guldencoin.com, the net hash rate is over 800 MH/s.  so I assume the rest of the hashing power is coming from individuals or groups running private pools?  I remember a while back someone ran some queries against the blockchain to see what addresses the newly generated coins were going to.

PS: maybe we need to clean up this info on docs.guldencoin.com?  I think the urls on post 1 of this ANN is more accurate.

PPS: last thing - the navigation links on guldencoin.com are in dutch.. IE: Overzicht, Versturen on https://guldencoin.com/receive didn't know if that was intentional to subliminally teach us dutch or an oversight.  Smiley

127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SWISS COIN [EXCHANGE] - www.swisscex.com on: July 28, 2014, 07:02:52 PM

It feels a bit like you want to make a trial here. I don't really understand what your goal is.

We provide every trader the same chances on our markets. This is important. When we trade, we usually only do this to test our own system and through the same interface as provided to the public. We do not take any advantage as traders, like integrating trading bots into our trading system, to skip order queues or lower latency etc. Also we are 100 % solvent and we hope that we can provide a proof for this in the future.

Kevin
SWISSCEX

Kevin,

Appreciate you taking the time to address people's concerns about swisscex.  I only trade BTC/NLG so I can't speak to what's going on with other coins.  With NLG, there appears to be a trading bot on swisscex that buys/sells with itself every 5-6 minutes at prices in between the bid and ask.  so for example, at the time I'm writing this, the highest bid is 66 satoshi and the lowest ask is 101 satoshi.  so the bot will buy and sell with itself at a random price every 5-6 minutes between 67 and 100, never trading with anyone active in the swisscex marketplace.  My question is, based on your comment above, is this a swisscex sponsored bot using the public API to 'test the system'?.. if so, one could argue swisscex is manipulating trading volumes, making it appear that swisscex is the exchange with the most NLG volume, when in reality it is not.  If the bot is not sponsored by swisscex, I would question the motivation for an active trader to buy/sell with himself, as he would be losing $$ on every transaction if paying fees.

On coinmarketcap.com, a very popular cryptocoin 'leaderboard', it lists SwissCEX as the exchange with the highest NLG/BTC volume, at $2,521 USD per day, however, I've watched the highest bid and lowest ask all day today, and not 1 NLG was bought/sold.  I think this is the basis for some people's concerns about swisscex.

Perhaps swisscex has nothing to do with the autotrading bot, and rather it's a poorly coded 3rd party bot that's losing $$ to swisscex in fees everyday and will eventually run out of $$.  But based on the facts above, it gives the illusion of either a.) swisscex is manipulating NLG trading volume, or b.) an external user is somehow extracting value from trading with himself, which would be a pretty serious bug in the system.

Not looking for a trial, just hoping to help find answers.  I haven't been into crypto currency long so it's very possible I have no idea what I'm talking about.  Smiley  Apologize in advance if that is the case.

Interview with Rijk over at RTV Noord-Holland: https://guldencoin.com/news/pay-with-guilders-again (It's in Dutch)

Has anyone got a link to all the interviews/media articles that have been done up until now? It would be good to keep a history of this for new users to look at.

The new website seems to have everything, it's a true gem.

https://guldencoin.com/news

Agree.  The website is great.  Cheers to the designers/devs.  One thing I noticed.  In the 'Getting started' section on the front page, there is a section on Backup but not Restore.  Is this because the Restore instructions aren't as simple/elegant?  I  personally haven't upgraded my windows NLG wallet software to 1.6 just because it sounded complicated. Smiley   On the other hand upgrading the android NLG wallet from the play store along with backing up and restoring my keys was very straight forward.

I (like a few others on here) have limited my cryptocurrency exposure to BTC and NLG.  Viewing BTC as the world-wide cryptocurrency standard and store of wealth, and NLG as the spending currency in the Netherlands (and perhaps catching on in a few bordering nations?).   If NLG can catch on outside Europe that would just be a bonus for me. Smiley

Keep up the great work!!

129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NLG] Guldencoin — New website! on: July 25, 2014, 01:42:39 PM

I have noticed we have had 6.5 btc worth of trade volume over on swisscex in the last 24 hrs.

Believe unfortunately most of this volume on swisscex is a bot that will buy/sell with itself between the bid and ask price.  Notice the past few hours a transaction is made at exactly 98 satoshi every 2 to 3 minutes?  that's because there is a ask order of 99 satoshi and a bid order of 97.  This activity seemed to start about a week ago (at a much higher transaction frequency).   If the the ask was 100 and the bid was 50, the auto buy/sells would occur within that range.  There would be a fee associated with each transaction, so its hard to figure out the motivation for someone to do this if they are paying those fees.  Would be interesting to get swisscex's take on this.   Based on previous posts they seem like good people and want the best for NLG so hopefully they have their bugs sorted out.

On a separate topic, it looks like the autoseller on bittrex stopped selling.  It will be interesting to see where the price goes as about 300-400k NLG per day was being auto-sold on bittrex until today.  If that autoseller was mining and continues to mine NLG, he'll quickly build up a large stockpile!

Apologize in advance if this is too much detail on NLG trading for this thread.  Devs let us know if you'd rather this kind of NLG chatter be taken off-thread.

Sorry it's in Dutch but here goes:

[

awsome Smiley  thanks for sharing

"Het zit nog in de nerdhoek."  == "It is still in the nerd corner"?  haha.

PS: a lot of that volume on swisscex over the last week seems to be a bot trading with itself..  swisscex also seems to have a lot of bugs during certain time periods lately.. I put in a buy order and it somehow gets executed as a sell.  Not a good experience for newcomers to NLG.  Would recommend pointing new people who want to exchange BTC for NLG to bittrex or bluetrade.  seems more reliable.

EDIT: sorry, bleutrade not bluetrade.

And can someone please fill up my buy order on bittrex . I want to be a millionaire. Cool

If that's you buying at 92 satoshi you're half way there to being a NLG millionaire Smiley

Net hashrate now at 725 MH/s. Growing slowly in time  Smiley

Looking good.  And the mining pool distribution is looking good as well?  None over 50%?  Is there anyone hosting a page where you could quickly get a quick look at current NLG mining pool hash rates?

As a hobbyist miner with a few MH/s of hashing, I miss the days of single digit difficulty.  Was pulling in 2-3k NLG a day on hardcoreminers.. good times. Smiley

I was thinking about making an NLG t-shirt for myself.  Could be a good conversation starter.  Didn't know if something like this was already planned.  If not, and the developers are cool with this, any chance they can make available some high res art?  I ripped the logo from the guldencoin twitter page.  maybe host some high res art at docs.guldencoin.com?  Not sure if I like the colored sleeves and collar.. more retro I guess.  comments welcome.

Article: http://debitcoin.org/de-week-van-bitcoin-35-de-terugkeer-van-de-gulden-met-efl-en-guldencoin/

2 quick questions for those who unfortunately don't speak Dutch:

1.  I see one of the top questions on the hangout was (via google translate) "Why use regional virtual currencies instead of the original, namely Bitcoin?".  Can anyone briefly summarize how that was answered in the interview?  Anything discussed besides the pre-mine distribution of NLG to NL citizens or national pride?

2. Was there any question about merging the 2 efforts and combine forces?  IE: offering a period of time to exchange 1 coin for the other at a set rate, then burning the outgoing coin.  Assuming one market cap is significantly larger than the other in the future this seems possible.  With so many alt-coins out there, seems there is enough competition without having to compete with yourselves.   Thanks! --Mark

It was changed after the first few matches. From the site:
"Making a prediction is possible until 30 minutes before the game kickoff. Any coins received afterwards are not accepted. There is a small grace period to compensate for blocktime. "

Thanks for the info!  I missed this change.  --Mark

Hi.  Hope everyone are having a good weekend.  Quick question about the nlgcup.com rules.  I thought you had to get your bet in 90 minutes before the match starts?  I see bets on Argentina winning way beyond that 90 minute cutoff that are included in the nlgcup totals.  Is that no longer the rule?  Thanks --Mark

I vote no for coinwarz.   Guldencoin is listed on another 'profitability' site named whattomine.com but I no longer see it listed on the main page, although there is still a page dedicated to Guldencoin there. http://www.whattomine.com/coins/64-nlg-scrypt .  Looking forward to news on the IOS front.    Keep up the good work devs!

hi guys,

Big fan of this coin, developers and community.  Great Job!  Having a lot of fun at NLGCup.  I am of dutch heritage living in the USA and so excited about the Gulder in digital form.  I just listened to a bitcoin podcaster who interviewed a coffee/espresso bar owner near the Amsterdam Passenger terminal who accepts Bitcoin.   Sounds like a great guy to introduce to the Guldencoin once the developers are happy with their merchant tools.  Who knows maybe he'll accept both BTC and NLG in the future!  Hope to use my Guldencoin wallet for food, accommodations, taxi, next time I'm in town.  Hup Holland!
