121  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seed phrase backup against natural disaster areas on: April 03, 2024, 11:55:42 AM
It is important to backup your seed phrase but some people said the backup is not good online but which is true because we have seen how hackers was able to see some people seed phrase online and steal their coins. But I have been thinking recently that how can people in countries with natural disaster be able to backup their seed phrase offline? An example is the flooding that occured in Pakistan like 2 or 3 years ago that submerged 1/3 of the country under water. Even if you backup your seed phrase offline in many locations, it is possible that kind of flood can lead to permanent loss of your offline seed phrase.

This is a very smart question but I think when you buy a hardware wallet or an airgap device for storage or your coins, the reason for backing up of your wallet is not to discard the hardware wallet right, the back up is just a preventive measures and caution should incase you loss access to your wallet. In a situation like this, proper care of your hardware wallet should be a priority to keep your coins safe, make sure your hardware wallet is in good condition and be ready to access quickly when you need it and not just the seed phrase back up alone.

As for the seed phrase, online storage system is very unsafe, the moment your documents touches the internet, just know that it's not longer safe and that's why offline storage remain the best way. If you are coming from a place where natural disaster happen a lot, I think storing your coins in another country is not bad. If you have thousands and millions worth of Bitcoin, you will do anything to protect it right!

I still remember in one of Vitalik Buterin interview how he got rid of Shiba that was sent to his wallet address. Shiba was airdrop to him and was worth Billions of dollars but he didn't have access to that wallet address as it also contain some ether in the wallet. It was a cold wallet that was key divided, half of key was with him and the remaining was with his family in Canada, he has to put calls through to get the half of the keys before he was able to send out these coins and donanted it to India for relief fund for Covid.

In a situation like this, I will go far to make sure that my Seed phrase is hidden in different locations, it's better than keeping it in a risky environment.
122  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What's happening to kucoin? on: April 03, 2024, 11:30:37 AM
Just searched about KuCoin, and I'm seeing some disturbing news about their founders being charged by the Justice Department for violating some laws.

Does anyone know more about this? What implications could this have on the CEX, especially now that they're targeted in the US?

You ask for the implications, here is on of the implications:

Source: WuBlochain

There was massive outflow of coins such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDT from the exchange and this signify that people withdraw their money from the exchange as soon as they heard the news. They fear kucoin exchange will be facing a lot of criticism from court hearing henceforth and it's possible for them not to travel to US anymore just to avoid the faith of CZ from happening to them.

The exchange still works normal but there was some anormally when people were trying to withdraw their money from the exchange, a lot of delay was coming and that's why kucoin was trending. Even if things has calm down. I will advice you to withdraw your funds if you have any there just to be at a safer side.
123  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why most of Exchanges FAIL ? on: April 03, 2024, 11:22:45 AM
I don't keep my assets on a CEX but I'd say it does concern me. Cases of bankruptcy cause the market to bleed like that of Mt. Gox exchange that affected the prices of crypto assets and it took a while for the market to bounce back. Also, it gives the government reasons to paint cryptocurrency black and discourage people not to invest. So I think this should be everyone's concern and we should try to sensitize people on the dangers of having their funds on CEXs.

The journey of any successful assets doesn't start well and end well. If you look at the growth path of Gold, they have had there own downs and up and they were able to set up a tight regulation to weed out some of these bad people. Are we going to see regulations here in crypto? Maybe or maybe not but things that has happened to FTX will send a great message to other people that will be trying to pull any stunt on people's fund and trying to run away because no place to hide. You can see that even with this little bull run, the casualties of hack and scams are not as rampant like back in the last bull run yet.

It will not only send message to people stealing funds but even those who keep their money on exchanges, people will learn the conventional way of storage of coins in there hardware wallet and air gap device instead of centralized exchanges that doesn't give them power of their wallets storage.
124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DO NOT BRAG ABOUT YOUR BITCOIN on: April 02, 2024, 09:59:58 PM
Even if someone obtained 1 of 3 keys, they cannot steal your Bitcoin. Concurrently, your Bitcoin can be backed up. If you lose your Bitcoin you can literally just magically get it back if you have back up, that's because your Bitcoin is stored on the blockchain. If you have a copy of your "seed phrase" you can regain access to all your Bitcoin no matter which wallet you use. Don't go blabbing your mouth to everyone about your Bitcoin stack.
This reminds me of some friend I have their WhatsApp contact on my phone and how they show off because of little investment they made on Bitcoin, they even shill and they are encouraged people to buy Bitcoin which is good but they sometimes over do it. I have never for once posted anything about Bitcoin on my status despite been an advocator. There are ways you can promote something without making yourself and object of target for scammers and hackers or even normal close friends.

What I like about Bitcoin is that it doesn't just teach you about buying it as an asset but the inherent features that makes you to like it and one of it is "privacy". If you value your privacy, you don't have to worry about this because even your family isn't supposed to know about your Bitcoin holding and what you do with your Bitcoin. Privacy just don't end there, learn extend it to live a quiet life and learn to spend your Bitcoin without anyone understanding how, when and where, this is to beat the way fiat exist.

125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How old would you be by 2140? on: April 02, 2024, 09:40:39 PM
If I can choose I don't even want to live up to 100 year in this world, I want to be gone, i have seen old people suffers because of their current bodies being too weak for them to manage, it's like another form of suffering.

I am a strong believer in Bitcoin and that's why I am investing very hard into Bitcoin, but everything must come to an end like they say, its possible that new innovations will best Bitcoin in the future, in the early 2000s not a single soul ever dream that something as good as Bitcoin will be created.

The same thing will happen someday again, this is why we must not dip our heads only into things that we believe in, as an investor we must be open to newer investment opportunities.

If you add 80 years to your age, I'm very sure you would be 80 plus. As for me, I don't even know what age I want to de-exist but I don't want to reach the age where people don't see things in life to be important. I want to stop breathing when it's the right time and not to be struggling with life later. At this particular stage you will likely developed, have a serious one health issues or another, all for what? To see last Bitcoin to be mine? What if a consensus rules are agreed and change before that time.

Bitcoin will succeed with or without anyone of us in this forum because of the foundation the community has built from beginning and if there is an adjustment needed anywhere, soft fork or hard fork will be implemented and pass through, all this age things doesn't matter. The forum has loss good people that has made an incredible contribution to this forum and Bitcoin and more will still come.
126  Economy / Economics / Re: The benefits of risk taking on: April 02, 2024, 08:40:00 PM
Risk is when a person is exposing him/her self to dangers, possibility of incurring loss or misfortune
So many people run away from business opportunities just because they fear they will run into loose and didn't want to take such risk
I have come to the realization that the word risk is part of life and that it is better you take part in it than not
From history it has been said that the great entrepreneur and business men/woman where all risk takers when you take risk you throw your self to the real of possibilities

Do you think if business is that easy to run, don't you think that a lot of people that has money sitting in the banks wouldn't have started business for a long time? This indicator alone should tell you that there is absolute something within the walls of business why many people don't do business and rather prefer to invest in other things that can yield them money in the future instead of cash flow investment.

Business involves sacrifice of the mind, it involves putting all you have and in fact it drains you completely and you might even fail in the process which you don't have a choice than to start all over again and I'm not sure if you want to start over again. Even if you have, in not sure you have much money to spare.

I have seen a company that spent millions in trying to establish drive and earn company like Uber and didn't succeed, but restrategize and lunch a micro finance app and guess what, they are the lading micro finance business here with highest recording customers due to their lightening transaction, it cost them more capital expenditures before they got there, now tell me how many people are ready for such challenges? I bet just few.
127  Economy / Economics / Re: How is it that these actions are yielding opposite results? on: April 02, 2024, 07:28:41 PM
Can someone who understands the Argentine economy explain what is going on there for me. I was excited when the current president won the election. He then set out to carry out some economic reforms. Some of his economic achievements like a budget surplus and decreased inflation have been impressive. But what I do not understand is that some of his policies aimed at slashing government programs and instituting extreme libertarian reforms, is triggering a deep recession and reduction in the purchasing power of the Argentines. How is it that these actions are yielding opposite results? If you understand why this is happening please explain it to me.

Our problem is that politics doesn't help us to see even common red flags that one should have ignore. I don't know if he is the best candidate for the country but people have this sense of believe that when a country is bad and a politician campaign some agenda to improve the country, the think change can just happen over night but a better economy doesn't work like that. He might even have a good intentions but policies making might not be favorable and might have to adjust a again to a better alternative.

Recession I belive is a temporary condition especially when there is a massive reform of economy policies, you don't expect the country to continue in the same direction when you change the magnitude and directions of policy but with time they will come out of it.

As for the government officials, they need to feel what the people are feeling, when you want a country to better it's the the people that suffer and makes the sacrifice but is that fair when the government individuals are been exempted and continue to enjoy while the masses suffer? When the country is sacrificing, everyone must contribute their own quota.
128  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why most of Exchanges FAIL ? on: April 01, 2024, 10:51:52 PM
It happen with all and it can happen with Current ones
e.g the last one KuCoin like 7 Days ago two of its founders were charged with violating anti-money laundering laws by U.S.
Be smart and keep your assets SAFE always use a Cold Wallet Your Keys Your Coins

Does this concern you ?

You made a list of just 2022, what happen to other events that happen before that? You didn't include one of the biggest Bitcoin heists in Mt Gox exchange, to date nothing has been refund to the customers. In 2020, Kucoin about $150M was hacked from Kucoin but they were able to recover them after investigation of the staffs. All what has happened on exchanges send a coming message which is "Not your keys, Not your coins".

Humans are not like computers, human can make a mistake but computers doesn't, this is the difference between a man and a computer, and a man can make mistakes and this mistake is the reason why centralized entity is difficult to manage. If you don't have anything on any centralized exchanges, what happen behind the scenes doesn't need to worry you because you have nothing with them except when you chose to trade.
129  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 01, 2024, 09:50:23 PM
Every series has an end. Manchester City may have had a good run, but it's no surprise that it ended against Arsenal. Arsenal are proving how good their defense is by finishing important games with a clean sheet this year. Arteta made it his priority not to concede a goal and he did it. If they had scored they would have gone home with 3 points but this result is certainly not bad for them. Arsenal can take over the lead if Liverpool falters in one of their next games. At the moment all three teams have very close chances.

Nothing gives me goosebumps this week like the way Arsenal were able to hold Manchester City, now that the have successful draw one of the deadliest team in the Premier League, what happened next after this? Will they lose to a minor team after these or they will lose to teams that are not worth losing to? My challenge is what is really going to happen next, if we remove Chelsea and Manchester united from the remaining features that Arsenal have this season that might be tough, I don't think there is much work unless they would want to fumble as usual.

Not going to lie, Manchester City are gradually losing this fight, they look good physically but the hype around them isn't working, I have more faith in Liverpool to win this league than for Manchester City to win this time around, they have even tried they should give Arsenal a place to feel at home with the Premier League title.
130  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which of these betting Statements Do you Agree or Disagree With? on: March 31, 2024, 09:54:22 PM
I want to believe that we all agree that our betting budget should be within 5% -10% of our monthly income as responsible gamblers. However, our perspective on sports betting differs. Look at the gambling sentences and indicate which of the statements you agree or disagree with. You could also write a brief explanation for your standpoint

1. Don't bet all your money on one bet.
2. Bet the same amount on every bet.
3. Don't bet more than once a day.
4. Don't bet every day.

I don't think there is a general rule for gambling but there are just some things that require basic sense. For instance, "don't bet all your money on one bet" is like putting your eggs in one basket, betting all your Bankroll on a single bet when you can split the money in multiple bets so that when you lose one bet, you can still hope on the remaining ones.

Betting the same amount on every bet makes sense but I think as long as it's the money you can afford to lose, if you can bet $1k and wouldn't feel shake it's okay and if you can still bet $50 dollar, it doesn't matter. Your aim of betting is to win unless you want to be greedy in gambling.

The last two depend on what gamblers like, because you gamble everyday doesn't mean you would make substantial amount of money and also doesn't mean you have to win everyday. This equally depend on how good you are and how good you are with predictions. Some people gamble everyday because they have less time to gamble.
131  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can we help beginners not to get addicted on: March 31, 2024, 08:33:00 PM
I think majority of people who are addicted to gambling is because they do not understand gambling as beginners, the rules and the side effects of playing gambling excessively.

I think if gambling companies can help to giving beginners to understand gambling and addiction it will help and reduce the rate at which people get addicted o gambling, I mean good lesson for people to get understanding.  Or do gambling companies benefit from gamblers who are addicted, which the awareness of getting addicted can affect their business?.

The majority are addicted because they don't understand gambling but that's not all, they are blinded by greed and when you have much of greed within you, there is going to be a lot of challenge you will face when it comes down to money. They are the type of people that can invest $100 in a shitcoin and even if they have profits of profit of $1M, they don't sell. They will watch such coins jump down to zero before they take action about what they have done, it's always late for them before they realized.

Gambling platforms and casinos responsibilities is not to reach you how to understand gambling, there responsibility is not how to make you make money, their responsibility is not to make you learn the scope of trading. The only responsibility they have is to offer you a better platform where you can wager your money and enjoy the game they have on their platform, gives you fast deposit and withdrawal and provide support for you when you need one. They are there to maximize their profits and not to baby sit anyone.
132  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 31, 2024, 08:09:52 PM
To be honest, none of us expected to see such a performance from Manchester City in this match. Many of my gambling friends bet on Manchester City to win today. The main reason for this was that it was City's home match. And everyone thought that City would surely avenge the defeat of the previous match in this match. But Manchester City players proved everyone wrong.

Arsenal had their plans in mind which Arteta prepared and Manchester City had theirs in mind which Guardiola prepared and they both have so thing in common which was never to lose. Didn't you see how Manchester City held down Saka, he was there for 70 minutes of the game and he was neutralize. Kevin DB is the main supplier for Manchester City and Declan rice made sure he clamp him and Haaland the goal machine becomes useless in the field, this is why even though you are a goal machine, learn to understand play making but Haaland lack that part in his performance.

Quote
Manchester City dominated this match it is true. Manchester City players have 73% ball possession. But they are not able to attack much. Arsenal's defense has been one of the strongest defenses in the Premier League this season. City should have gone all attacking from the first half if they wanted to score against Arsenal. I would say there was something wrong with Guardiola's match tactics. And this is why Manchester City have shared the points in two consecutive important matches.

Manchester City dominated the match but it was as if they never did anything, Arsenal struggle but all their work today was worth it, if the tactics didn't work, they would have conceded goals but all their plans work. Arsenal was attacking and was neutralize and same where done to Manchester City, it's just that Manchester City was coming with hotness and fire. Honestly, the two team perform well but Liverpool is just smiling at them like they didn't play anything this week.
133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: March 31, 2024, 07:56:15 PM
Barcelona's victory over Las Palmas was not convincing, it could even be said that the red card received by Las Palmas helped Barcelona to score the only goal in the match to get three points and maintain their current runner up position. Meanwhile, their chances in the Champions League are still unclear because the two teams can be said to be of equal strength so it is quite difficult to predict who will succeed in advancing to the semifinals and I think the home match will really determine the outcome later.

Do you want to hate on Barcelona because they can't seem to be able to reach Real Madrid or you just don't like them? It was to obvious that the Alvaro attack Raphina and the red card was deserving and the fact that they were 10 players against 11 doesn't mean you should expect less performance from Las Palmas, it's the moment they get that red card seriousness will come from them. Look at how well Francisco arrange 5 men in the midfield and you think Barcelona would have easy penetration.

Quote
Real Madrid certainly understands that they cannot make mistakes in the remaining matches this season because if the point difference decreases, it will put strong pressure on them in the remaining matches, making it difficult for Real Madrid to be able to concentrate on the Champions League, especially as their opponent in the quarter-finals is a tough opponent.

I have made peace with Real Madrid that the only obstacles that will hinder them from winning the Laliga trophy is if Anceloti doesn't breath again. They have master the rest of the game and it's working for them, it's either they do clean sheet with 1 goal or more and when they score goal and opponent equalized, the make sure that they double that goal, the concede less and score more, that's exactly what they have been all these while and it's working.

135  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can we still truly achieve anonymous gambling in crypto? on: March 30, 2024, 02:25:44 PM
Crypto has been known for anonymity. During the early stage, we like to promote it using the words "decentralized" and "anonymous ", and it's the main reason why a lot of gamblers have chosen to gamble using crypto to gain full privacy, but it seems like things have really change a lot now as gamblers are looking for a casino that are licensed while some casinos who promotes anonymous gambling eventually act like a fiat casino that requires KYC.

What do you think about this one, where is are we heading? And can we still consider crypto casino different from fiat casino?

I still remembered the time I joined this forum, there was this campaign of "Not your keys, not your coins" that was been voluntarily promoted on this forum, it became my personal text till date and that was because of decentralization moves but it seems all have been forgotten, as in people don't even care about it any more, the centralized exchanges keep winning everytime.

Decentralized casino wouldn't strive properly because of some reasons and here are the ones I have with me:

-Government regulation: AML is one of the factor government allow people to use crypto, any company that is involved in crypto and doesn't Take KYC serious will be an enemy of the government, this is why casino without KYC will not work under the watch of government.

-Normalize traditional casino are everywhere, many gamblers are used to the traditional casino, crypto is just their way of funding but don't really care about any other benefits like privacy or any decentralization, they just want to win and double their crypto, they don't care and since casino are after money, they will always give priority to where there is money.

East to use: Most centralized casino has an easy features which ofcourse comes with a risk but they don't care about all of that, what matters to them is ease of use and make more wins.

You can see that, it will be difficult to see decentralized casinos around here.
136  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can family members help a gambling addict? on: March 30, 2024, 01:45:28 PM
Many people are going through gambling addiction but they manage to keep it a secret from their families and loved ones. The only people that know about their gambling activities are their close friends. In the event that you are one of those close friend to a gambling addict, do you think it is right to tell their loved ones with the intention that they will be able to talk to him and help him overcome his addiction? Can the advice of loved ones even help? What is the most effective way of going about gambling addiction.

One thing about gambling is this, someone who is addicted might not really know that he's even addicted, don't you think that we all love ourselves and we don't want to see ourselves in bad condition. I will be hard on myself if someone close to me tell me one day that I'm addicted to gambling without finding out the red flags before anyone. If a gambler is addicted and didn't want his family member to know is not because he is hiding the addiction, he is hidding the fact that he lose all the time and it's not something palatable to speak with your families on how you loss money consistently in gambling.

As a friend, my duty is too talk to him one on one, as in man to man and not go around making him look like a culprits that is guilty of a crime. I will try all my best to make him stop if I found one addiction on him but if he doesn't listen to me as a friend, with time there is going to be some physical actions that the family will see and they will talk to him about it if they care about him.

138  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I make my own signature and use it on bitcointalk freely? on: March 29, 2024, 09:56:12 PM
Hi, guys!

I'm absolutely new to this forum and don’t know a lot about how things work here, but I'm really curious to find out. Recently, I noticed a lot of signatures under the messages of certain users and I want to find out: is it possible for me to use them freely (in case if I will make them by myself)? Do I need to pay extra charges to BitcoinTalk for this signature? Will I face any restrictions regarding using this signature?

Signature is a personal place, you can choose to advertise what you like as long as it doesn't violate the rules of the forum and it doesn't spread any misinformation about Bitcoin and lastly the signature doesn't contain any mlxer on your signature code but looking at your account, you are still a newbie and the forum doesn't allow a newbie to wear a signature code in the Forum, you have to be atleast a junior member before you can wear one.

Alternatively, why don't you just hired managers of the forum to help you better, they know this job because that's what they do and use their time most often in the Forum, with little change few people with high ranks can be selected to help you promote your website or whatever you want to promote in to the forum.
139  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Tax refund scheme scams on the rise using "Gas fee refunds" on: March 29, 2024, 09:33:42 PM
That's the link of the tweet and instead of quoting and linking it to the image, I've used the "code" code. And as you can see, that tweet has already garnered 554.1k views which gives me the idea that there probably have fallen for it already.  Undecided

I got to a point and was tired and then I decide not report again because it seems the algorithm kind of find me easy as a target. The number of accounts with many fake ads I have seen from last week to this week is alarming, the number of Ethereum gas funds ads are so much that I think the scams is really fetching them victims and they are making money. I have seen more different domain entirely different from the ones I have reported and Elon is busy accepting their revenue ads without any investigation.

A real company should put users protection as priority, seeing increased in this ads request by some people, they ought to have check why the demand is really coming but they don't do all this check up and they claim they have the best engineers, very bad job from X company to combat scammers.
140  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What are your thoughts on the market right now? on: March 29, 2024, 09:06:02 PM
I want to stock up on alts for the spot now. What do you think, should I buy now or should I wait?

Any altcoin with a team behind working tirelessly with some good updates over the year is a good buy but please avoid meme coins even though are they promising to a lot of people, they don't represent what altcoins are even though they can't really have much achievement like the way Bitcoin has benefits from this market. You can have just diversify your portfolio with some later 1 altcoins and some new listed coins that hasn't done well this season.

You can also include coins that hasn't really go far this bullrun, there are room for more growth and expect some good updates around these altcoins, it is these updates that traders used in shillings coins. So if you get one and see update, you will know when it's the time to exit the market after having all the profits that you really needed.
