121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can a seed phrase on steel or titanium sheet survive this flood? on: April 26, 2024, 09:19:04 PM
As long as the steel or titanium sheet on which the seed phrase is written is still in place [not carried away or swept away] then in my opinion it is still safe. Steel can still be damaged by corrosion if submerged in water for too long - but titanium may be more resistant.
it didn't even occur to you that the steel or titanium safe (assuming that was what it was) must have been sitted on a basement, in the locker room or somewhere else? If that's the case, then there's no guarantee of safety...
It would make much more sense if anyone speculated that there was some metalwork done - in that the safe was glued, maybe with an epoxy unto an installed metal (maybe the foundation pillars or something)... If it's the former, then I'll consider it a false story as it's impossible to weld a steal.
The question isn't whether your seed backup can survive the disaster, but rather how its location is secured?  Will you be able to find it after a devastating event like this?
you'll never know how you'd react until it eventually happens to you; At this point, the only thing that matters to you in life is "LIFE ITSELF"
122  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: UTXOs and Bitcointalks's Signature Campaigns on: April 26, 2024, 03:19:33 PM
Use Doge!
And now that I committed the greatest blasphemy ever to have been uttered on this forum , bun me!  Cheesy
Seriously, I took that to be a joke but on what basis should that be? It's no blasphemy to recommend an alternative to evade the fee surge so, you've been forgiven!!  Tongue
The fees are currently high, but there will come times when you can broadcast your transaction for less than 10 sat/vByte and then it will be possible to accumulate all UTXOs into larger future inputs.
I can't recall the last time a high priority fee was reduced to 10 sat/Vbyte.... You'll only get your transaction broadcasted for days on low or no priority, until it gets discarded from the mempool

Edit:
You can always ask your campaign manager to roll over your payments untill a certain value has been reached...
how about the transition in exchange rate?
123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If someone you introduced to BTC says the risks of her funds is on you on: April 25, 2024, 09:59:57 PM
There are certain ways to introduce people into a different investment plan. The first step would be intense tutoring on the subject/course of investment.. secondly, I'll try as much as i can to layout the risk of getting involved - including any awful experiences I had during the course of starting my cryptographical journey.

It's dawn on you to decide if you'd wanna follow my path/route or not. I'll also make everything explicit enough, should there be any exegencies on your HODL journey (assuming that's what you needed the mentorship for)

Edit: What you just described above tells how less interested the person in question is - Maybe they thought they'll just begin to make profit out of a blue
124  Other / Meta / Re: Is Samourai wallet now banned from Bitcointalk? on: April 25, 2024, 09:54:56 PM
From my point of view, mixing isn't inherently criminal behavior either.... As a matter of fact, many people (including myself) use(d) mixer to increase their privacy. It's nobody's business how much BTC i hold, that's private information (just like my FIAT balance on my bank account).
I'm not in support of the privacy alleviation and censorships that the US governments are coming up with, but if that's justifiably a way to detar the money laundering cases globally, they have the upper hand.
Secondly, your FIAT balance on your local bank isn't your privacy; I'm not sure what term your local banking system operates with but, I'm sure that if a huge fund drops in your bank for the first time, they'll likely wanna trace where, how and to what the funds goes for..
Quote
But this didn't stop the world's governements of attacking all mixing services, so i don't see why they wouldn't increase their attack surface by making every service that isn't 100% KYC and actively working with them a valid target.
There's an adage that says; " A man that brings to his home some ant infested faggot shouldn't complain of a swollen hip"
125  Other / Meta / Re: Sig campaign doesn't pay in bitcoin.... on: April 25, 2024, 09:36:37 PM
I think altcoin sig camps should be more common since bitcoin’s transaction fees are becoming a pain in the ass lately. I am getting 70-90 usd weekly in btc from my sig but blackjack.fun’s withdrawal fees take half of that. It is not sustainable like this.
If it's certainly becoming a problem for you, don't you think it's even more disturbing to the casinos themselves? That may not be the case in your own campaign (maybe the distribution of funds weekly are directly sent from blackjack mega wallets and, the fees are exclusively made for the participants)?
Quote
Ltc, doge, usdt sig camps should be more common. At least one of these currencies are available on every service. They are well known projects and their price are nearly as stable as btc.
usdt would definitely be more preferable. But I'm wondering if the casinos ain't bothered with this fee surge at all.
That would require everyone to create their own LN nodes which is not practical unless we are going to use custodial wallets which probably nobody wants. LN is a temporary band-aid, it is not a permanent solution.
Custodial wallets! I'm sure you're not looking for a temporary solution to escaping the surge... We're not hoping that the mempool gets congested too long that an alternative is needed permanently.
126  Other / Meta / Re: Handling Replies and Mentions in Forum Threads on: April 25, 2024, 01:34:32 PM
Why bother to reply each post when you can do multiple quote in a single posts, reply/quote anyone who hit your interests. Not unless you want to reply each single post to have more post counts, then wait little time to do that as you might fall to post bursting.
Y'all reply to every single mentions just to increase post count? Huh?.. well, everyone has a posting pattern and, it becomes incombent on the poster to understand where and to which mention they should reply to.
You could also merit anyone in concordance, rather than replying everyone at once.
I often notice that replies to a post are not in a questioning tone, and quoting a post is just an additional statement.
The continuous repetition by several users, in their own words would often make the Convo very boring.. Just like a user said, most of those replies are made to fulfill their post count - At the end, there's barely nothing innovative about it.
127  Other / Meta / Re: Topics on reputation board should not have lock feature on: April 25, 2024, 12:59:47 PM
Anyone that takes jackpotracer seriously should only do that at their own detriment .. Dude is a retarded spammer! A type that would raise irrelevant cases and arguments just to get to you. [and if it does, you're certainly not thick-skinned].
I saw what the clown posted on the campaign thread - it's nothing more than his usual exegerrated, plentifully coloured cookie-cutter post..

Back to your request, I think we still need a thread lock feature [some MODs have special powers and, unlocking a thread is one of them, should there ever be a need]... Otherwise, an awful thread like that would barely spend the next few days on page one..
Lastly, always do well to use the "report to moderator" button as often as you can.
128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I don’t like the term “crypto” on: April 24, 2024, 09:52:38 PM
Anything that uses blockchain is crypto. So bitcoin is crypto!
That's so untrue! IOTA doesn't have a blockchain... All transactions are recorded on a private ledger. The point wasn't even based off of the fact that cryptocurrencies don't have blockchain so what are you saying?
BTC> I don’t like the term “crypto” …Not only because it distorts the field of cryptography, but it is also very much related to scam schemes, perpetrated by individuals who have 70% pre-mined coins, create pseudo-decentralized systems, and register trademarks, among other tactics…
it has created a very Stern impression in our minds - coupled with the rug pull over the years on CEX - people tend to look at bitcoin in disdain when it's collectively Called among cryptos..
You see, learning is a process that never denies an impartation...As a result, people have seen the relentless evolvement overtime and, Bitcoin doesn't have to prove itself through several more decades.
129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Samourai Wallet seized by the feds on: April 24, 2024, 09:23:36 PM
But they were greedy to clamp down Binance which was alleged for money laundering, bank fraud, sanctions violation and others. Binance paid 4 billion and still existing. Most money received through illegal activities are in their banks that their central bank being the head.
...and what does that tell you? These people only care about their pockets and if they ever get a chance to forfeit already enacted laws, it'll definitely be for the highest bidder.... Sentiments!! Bloody sentiments!! FFS!!! Decentralization is gone!!
So, I reckon that the whirlpool servers will go down. I also believe that there will be no more support for the products (samourai & sentinel).
Yes!
Another privacy enhancing tool goes down the road. Apparently, the governments use everything in their disposal to undermine the users' privacy. Samourai team
it's clear that all they want isn't just the control per se ... If they wanna use these platforms to generate extra revenues for their greedy pockets, then why not go into a dialogue?
Edit: This whole drama won't go down well for alot of bitcoiners - you'll either be paying VAT on every transaction aside the TF, or facing detention for as long as they want.
130  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin is fungible? on: April 24, 2024, 09:04:56 PM
That's the definition of fungibility.
BlackHat, I understand how strong and enthusiastic you may have become and, to be very honest - I'm not against it  frfr Tongue To a point that It's almost impossible to convince you otherwise (which isn't my motive)... Ehnnn, but the sad part is that the truth can't be diverted for your interest sake.

Bitcoin has all the criterias to be called a "fungible coin" - ofcourse the value of 1/4, 1/5 of 1 BTC still equals the wholesome coin [This is the base and your own very perspective of understanding fungibility]... The transparency of the blockchain has slowly been made a target...Do you not believe just as they've proven that - atleast 38 - 46% of Bitcoin transactions(on the blockchain) are "tainted coins"? And that most of these coins don't get redeemed at the same price tag? Look, I don't have anything against Bitcoin itself - but I can't vouch that peeps are patronizing them mixers for nothing sake!
131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin is fungible? on: April 24, 2024, 11:41:52 AM
I think you're both confusing privacy with anonymity. Bitcoin was never anonymous and it cannot stop the government from snooping on you through centralized means. (Although you could maintain anonymity as well as privacy, if you really wanted to.)
There are way more similarities than differences between those two words; only that the latter would mean - being given permission based on user's discretion - Big question is, do the government seek a user's attention to snoop into their TRN history? Secondly, do you not know that the blockchain is served as a public ledger? Which means, in most cases, without mixers or any other interference, there's absolutely no guarantee for privacy?
The sentence on quote from my post (which isn't part of this particular point) has a correlation with these; without a robust procurement for "anonymity/privacy", Bitcoin isn't entirely "fungible"!
If Bitcoin's original plan was total privacy, what's the essence of the blockchain?
132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin is fungible? on: April 24, 2024, 10:12:55 AM
So bitcoin can be fungible if the merchant doesn't care where your coins coming from.
That's the point!! But I think that's not just gonna workout immediately..YeS! All we ever wanted was having Bitcoin  as a full-fledge decentralized coin Thus, the lightening network was made for offchain transactions [without having to be recorded on the block chain already]. Mixers are also on the same spot, all to fully achieving bitcoiner's anonymity..
The governs are fully aware of the loopholes in transacting "tainted" coins, which is why they're issuing out censorships.
If you can track its history, how can it be fungible?
Being able to track the history is a privacy problem, not a fungibility problem.
If Bitcoin's original plan was total privacy, what's the essence of the blockchain? This isn't supposed to be an argument BlackHat, Bitcoin isn't fungible[and you know it]  Smiley
133  Other / Meta / Re: [theymos] Bug with Merit (for sending) on: April 23, 2024, 09:35:45 PM
I'd barely get distracted by the least, imperceptible thing like this... [a bug that doesn't obstructe my route when navigating the forum]... Well, that shows how attentive alot of people can be, kudus TTD!

The only time I was able to detect anything that looks like a bug so fast was when I sent some merit out, refreshed the page and it repeated exactly the same command [without showing up a dialogue box]. I think that was fixed anyways!
Code:

A text input box is not a calculator LOL.
lol ...uhhh, is he part of the code writers we've got? How did he immediately think of the exponentials? Hahahaha!
134  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do casinos do with inactive accounts? on: April 21, 2024, 07:16:40 PM
What do casinos do with inactive accounts?
Nothing  Smiley
Quote
And what does inactivity mean - not logging in to your casino account or logging in say every two months without playing any game?
eitherways, you're still recorded on thier monthly active maintenance list as an inactive account... Being active doesn't count as a whole. Secondly, you'd have to fund and wager to be eligible for some insensitives like bonuses, multipliers etc.
Quote
I also learned that there is something called a dormancy fee or maintenance charges on those inactive accounts which covers for administrative cost incurred by those accounts. I learned that the deduction is from the remaining balance in the account.
Do you not know that every casino has their TOS? and in that, are enacted rules; own of which is an account's withdrawal limits?.. just like they all have their win limits. Severally cases have been made up on the reputation board on how casinos lockup actively used accounts, with huge funds innit.
Quote
On the other hand, what type of fee is charged on an active account?
I learned that most casinos charged - not even small - but high transaction fees!
135  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stopping the curse of losing streak? on: April 21, 2024, 06:51:36 PM
What I did is I stop gambling for a week and decided to try different game so that my mind will be fresh and positive. I play slot games and manage to win huge amount that is enough to recover my 3 weeks losses and gain a decent profit. I’m just using small bet on slot games when I hit the huge jackpot.
This was undoubtedly the best decisions to have made, yes! But what's the case for a person that doesn't have the techs to indulge in any other type of casino games apart from slots? Just basing off an assumption though..

In my opinion, taking a long break is cool - do you really have to bother about why 'em poker cards ain't aligning? I mean, that would only make you start chasing your loses which, is the beginning of your failure.
Well, on the other hand, it's really hard to overlook your loses; the eagerness, frustration and confusion is real! I've seen cases of a family man crying for a refund from a casino
136  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you achieved anything from gambling on: April 21, 2024, 06:26:41 PM
TBH, there's no gain in gambling mate. The only feeling you'd often get is persistently making predictions and hoping it cuts! For real-life soccer games, each of those tickets would look like the real deal until a game or two says quite the opposite.

Alot of people in here would definitely argue about it; like I normally say, unless you're not consistent in wagering but with winnings, I'd say you're making profits... That is basically about how lucky you can be. [cus it's more like getting 8 wins outta 10 without further duplication]. If you could calculate the net profit outta your payment, withdrawal history and bankrolls annually combined, you'll certainly know for a fact that you're losing it...
137  Other / Meta / Re: Introducing scammers to the forum. on: April 21, 2024, 05:53:53 PM
Man, I don't mean this in a bad way but - the entire post was paradoxically opined  Smiley
[...]and I've been wondering how are these scammers finding about Bitcointalk when some regular people have not yet discovered this forum on their own.
You said this and I tend to agree with you, not until you wrapped it up;
Quote
I know some scammers are intelligent people who read a lot and can discover this forum from their research[...]
Just like you said, you know this already... Have you ever seen a person with a tattooed inscription/tag on the forehead that says - I'm a scammer, be guided? How's anyone supposed to know?
AFAIK, some people could play like the day-saver just to gain a couple of trust scores, only to get busted and revealed as the villian ... In this user's case, it was already too late!!!

139  Economy / Services / Re: [Round 5] Utopia P2P - Official Android Review Campaign (Newbie - Legendary) 💎 on: April 21, 2024, 10:38:38 AM
My review:

Text:
I really had a nice time on the utopia app... The interface is well arranged (especially in desktop view) that you can find your way through several functions, navigating every command, all in one phase.I made a request for CRP just to see the process of broadcasting a transaction on the utopia network and, I was immediately ushered into a decentralized browser (with no third party license). The idyll browser is also hosted separately on the utopia app and is made to maintain user's pseudonymity
140  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: No gambling today due to bitcoin high transaction fee. on: April 20, 2024, 09:59:51 PM
This is only for gamblers who use bitcoin as the payment method, how is going today? Who among us here can still afford to gamble?
Degenerate gamblers would still fund their wallets and gamble regardless... Unless they haven't got that much in stock, they won't mind.
On the other hand, most of them would prefer to swap to any altcoin and fund with it. So If you thought the fees would deter them, then you definitely don't know a thing about gambling!

Alot of people saying Bitcoin is behaving in an unusual way due to the surge in transaction fees? Do they really know what the term HALVING MEANS?
