121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reliable ways to Earn yourself Tokens without Trading on: August 14, 2024, 05:02:22 PM
When making investments in crypto currencies especially when it comes to altcoins and meme coins one has to be very careful to avoid things like investing in a pump dump scheme or investing in a scam project. As of recent airdrop farming has really been soo rampant especially ever since the last bitcoin halving event. Well some persons believe a lot in airdrops and these meme coins because they make good profits from them. However that doesn't guarantee or make meme coins and tokens a good investment.

Quote
And to be able to make a lot of profits, you really need to invest a lot of money as well. And for sure, there are average joe like us here who are not willing to take that risk to invest our hard earn money on them.
Op you are actually getting it wrong here. Making profits in the whole crypto space especially with altcoins is something that is dependent on how much you understand the crypto space and not how much money you put into investing . This is because you could potentially lose a huge amount of money because you invested in the wrong crypto.
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it easy to teach crypto to beginners? How to? on: August 14, 2024, 04:51:45 PM
Well let's just say learning and teaching both depends on the learner who is the newbie in this case and also the teacher. You can't force someone to learn something they have very little interest in. Many newbies out there rush into asking and looking for a crypto mentor many because they are scared that they are losing out nice crypto opportunities. Many of these persons end up falling for scams or running into great loss because they are really not interested in proper understanding of how to whole crypto space works.
The first thing I believe a newbie should be interested in is security of his assets especially because of the dangers of hack out there.
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When Others Panic, the Wise Accumulate: Opportunity knocks in crypto downturns on: August 13, 2024, 04:34:58 PM
Yeah yeah buying at a lower price and selling at higher price is what brings about profit. However it's not a proper and wise decision to buy at every dip not all dips are opportunities to buy some are just a sign of market declination. Take pump and dump meme coins and altcoins for example , if one should buy such coin in it's dip period you are obviously making a wrong decision. Of course some dips like that may seem like an opportunity but it isn't.

You should be able to know the right coins to buy and of course avoid FOMO too. Take bitcoin for example I believe now should an opportunity to accumulate a more bitcoins before bitcoin eventually climbs up to a higher price.

If you ask the question does the forum need politics of course yes however if you should ask does the forum need so much politics I would take NO as the right answer. I really don't think bringing soo much politics related stuffs to the forum is necessary though it doesn't seem to be harmful. Of course politics discussion is important because of the effects it has on the crypto space and general economics.

On the other hand I really don't think that making signature campaigns for pre elected or election contest I participants is necessary. And if you ask me , it just doesn't seem like the right thing to be advertised on the forum. The forum is a cryptocurrency discussion place and not a place to take on political campaigns.
126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Android as a cold wallet on: August 13, 2024, 01:25:37 PM
I have seen a post like  this some time ago on the beginners and help board so I went back to search for it. HERE IT IS
From what I have understood so far, making an air gapped device can be very difficult especially if you are trying to be very careful making sure that you have totally cut off all internet connections the device has. Personally I think an android won't be as safe an airgapper Device as an old PC technically will be .
This is because of reasons that are quite obvious like being able to remove network components . In an android device you would have to get rid of the the Bluetooth, WiFi and cellular network components and I am not sure yet if it would have any effect on the device.

128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't Be scared Use this Dip as an opportunity to HODL more. on: August 12, 2024, 09:16:42 PM
I actually saw that coming from miles away! and yesterday I said we could see a dump to $50k soon when we were still strong above $60k.
Yeah that's quite a nice prediction.
The fact is although bitcoin wasn't meant to be affected by global world events and economic conditions, because of decentralisation which was satoshi's dream for the coin, we just can't prevent it. Bitcoin has become too adopted and big of a currency that it now has its significant little effect on the world economy and vice versa the world economy also has its impact on bitcoin.

I really don't think it would be possible to make bitcoin immune to economic conditions and shifts simply because the more Adopted bitcoin becomes , the stronger it's effect on the corresponding economic market.
129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Where To Buy Altcoins? on: August 12, 2024, 09:07:03 PM
There are a whole bunch of ways out there you can get crypto. If you are talking about buying then you can simply do a P2P transaction either physically, here on the forum or you can do it on an exchange where the exchange can act as an intermediary or escrow for the both parties. Most of the time centralised exchanges require KYC verification for both parties to be able to involve in a P2p transaction.

Anyways you can also find a couple of exchanges here that don't need KYC verification for you to be able to get some popular crypto currencies of your choice.

131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the impact of exchange hack on Bitcoin prices ? on: August 12, 2024, 08:56:54 AM
Hacking on an exchange doesn't have any impact on the bitcoin network. Is more like some entities funds were tampered with. The price of bitcoin depends on a lot of things including buying and selling pressure on the market. Now so instances of some exchange being hacked and then bitcoin seemed to drop a little is the effect of simple economics. When huge amounts of bitcoin are suddenly moved or transacted with, it can affect the price of bitcoin.

I believe the indirect effect of bitcoin price as a result of hack on an exchange is based on the fact that in most cases the huge coins are moved causing some level of liquidity and volatility which attributes fir certain shift in price.
132  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Making a cold wallet on an Android device. on: August 12, 2024, 07:04:31 AM
Air gapping is simply disconnecting your device permanently from the internet. And for an android device, most of them have to be connected to the internet to complete their first setup. Connecting a device you wish to air gap to the internet is wrong. This is because there could probably be a few things that went backdoor online during the set up process.  And unlike a pc you can't stick out the networking components that easy.

I personally suggest that you switch to making use of something like a normal computer that you can easily detach the network card and internet enabling components only then can you be certain that the computer has no access to the internet in any way. When setting up an air gapped device you need to be careful and if it's an old device you must format it and also switch to an open source OS.

134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Say no to maximalism on: August 11, 2024, 12:29:26 PM
Maximalism is quite a thing though. I've never been of the opinion that bitcoin is 100% better than every other crypto currency. Undoubtedly bitcoin has been the best when it comes to investment so far especially in the case of long term investment.  However for a couple of other things like fees especially in times of congestion bitcoin wasn't the best option. The fact is everyone is condemning altcoins because too many of them out there are simply pump and dump schemes.

Many persons are unable to differentiate these pump and dump coins that's why they end up losing funds to them . Bitcoin has actually proven to be the best at long term returns and that's just fact coupled with decentralisation. Altcoins too have their own applications like in cases of more frequent and light weight transactions.
135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you get Bitcoin? (Poll) on: August 11, 2024, 06:36:00 AM
The two possible ways to likely HODL bitcoin currently, is either you buy it or you earn it. As for the buying, it's quite simple since all you need to do is just swap some fiat for an equivalent amount of bitcoin. On the other hand some people render services like freelancing and other gig like you mentioned and depending on their agreement with the client , some get paid in crypto currency which includes bitcoin.

The only one I really don't think it would be easy to HODL is selling goods for bitcoin. This is because the seller is would likely have to restock sooner and that won't be long term holding except the profit of course is nice enough to HODL.

136  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Price History 2010-2021 in 2 minutes can help you to be less panic on: August 09, 2024, 08:10:49 PM
Bitcoin is one crypto currency that has one of the highest returns over a long period of time and that is the reason a majority of bitcoin holders often constantly emphasize on long term holding. Some alt coins may have good profits over a very short period of time. However when it comes to long term store of value and continuous long term returns in profit, bitcoin is the best option.

I have often times come across a couple of topics with discussions concerning if bitcoin is gradually drifting from it's initial plan of a P2P currency. The fact is bitcoin being a good form of investment overtime  just can't be over looked.
137  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Biggest Myth about Cryptocurrencies on: August 09, 2024, 07:44:50 PM
The stuff that you refer to as myths in the crypto space are mostly as a result of Poor research , poor  understanding and rumors . The problem many people who pay too much attention to these so called crypto myths face is that they fail to do research on important things including security and end up jumping into investing in crypto. And unfortunately for a majority of them they end up investing in altcoins that are mostly pump and dump schemes and boom they lose all Thier money and say that crypto is scam.

The fact is people who depend on rumours as their source of information will hardly make progress in the crypto space. This is mainly because the crypto space and internet is full of lies and misleading information.
