The problem, as has been mentioned, is issuers not doing what their contracts say they'll do. While greater transparency through accurate financial reporting wouldn't be a bad thing, it wouldn't solve the problems. Issuers that go rogue would just fudge numbers and then it would naturally be burnside's fault for not detecting it. Bitcoin is itself a currency that requires one to be responsible for their own actions. If you send 4BTC to purchase that solar powered clothes dryer, then tough cookies when you get a clothes line in the mail. Securities denominated in BTC should be no different, if investors are too dense or lazy to do any diligence then they're going to take on a lot of risk.

Though not perfect, the system in place now at btct.co is IMO the best currently available in the crypto investing world. Though the moderator system does not protect determined investors from their own inability or unwillingness to adequately assess risk, over time scores do tend to favor companies that follow their contracts. If there's an obvious failing in the current system I'd say it's in the stage prior to moderator voting. Many mods obviously keep their own council and have their own reasons for voting to approve contracts such as PETA-MINE's, but abominations such as that one never should have seen the light of day. Burnside can't possibly be expected to read through and police every contract, so perhaps someone else could read through these things and draw attention to obvious discrepancies/contradictions that can be brought to the attention of both the asset issuer and potential investors prior to moderator voting.

VolanicEruptor, you keep incorrectly claiming "$6 per Gh/s" when in fact the best priced machine is the 256 Gh/s at $2400 which is $9.4 per Gh/s!

Equally difficult is pinning them down on power consumption estimates. Undecided
123  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] BTC-Trading Pass-Through Fund -- BTC-TRADING-PT on: September 19, 2013, 02:53:41 AM
"Trading is currently frozen on this security."

Could you explain?

I intend to split BTC-TRADING-PT shares 100 to 1 in the near future. We are still waiting on BTC Trading Corp. Stay tuned.

...would be my guess.

I can see your hardware is pretty ancient...<snip>

ROFL

Whatever shred of credibility you had left just went buh bye. ActM is hashing with Avalons DOOFUS. They're doing so because their own vaporware won't be around for months.

I think we're done here...keep your overpriced inefficient vaporware.

You are still mining with video cards and BFL singles, not just avalons.. so I can see why you're complaining about power efficiency.

Presumably you've heard of scrypt by now? ...you are aware that single sc's are more efficient than ActM's fleet of (6)Avalons correct?

You're completely out of your element here aren't you VE? Wink

How 'bout a fresh PETA-MINE rant. Haven't seen one of them in awhile. They need some lovin'.

I love your drunk posts. Please continue.
The ActiveMining bet was created by me though, not BitBet or MP.

If there's anyone I haven't offended please feel free to post (detailing why you aren't offended) and I'll make a genuine effort to offend you.  Wouldn't want anyone feeling left out.

I'm not offended but you'll have a tough time achieving that. Pretty sure it never happened ever.
You're welcome to try!

I'll have a go. Umm...Star Wars >>>> Star Trek? Nethin'? Cheesy

meh. I sold out of labcoin after their last round of lies er...errors...so still waiting to be offended.

Cheers? Grin

In case the previous is unclear let me make it plain.  If you have Labcoin shares (and don't have inside knowledge) you ARE a fucking idiot.
130  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: VMC Fast Hash Price Drop = 64GH/s for $1K in November on: September 18, 2013, 11:16:20 PM
I have mined quite a bit actually, and have not experienced the problems you are describing.  They are exaggerated.  Difficulty is literally a hundred times more of a culprit of profit loss than electricity is.  Punch some numbers in on that calculator and you will see that.

Why would I need a calculator? I run a mining company, I have gear running 24/7 and the electricity bills to prove it. The difference between 1w/Gh/s and 2w/Gh/s can make a huge difference in potential returns depending on price/kWh. You sound like somebody speaking about a topic for which you have little practical experience. Never mind that bitfury has gear out now that uses under 1w/Gh/s and you're hawking wares that won't even be around until December.
131  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: VMC Fast Hash Price Drop = 64GH/s for $1K in November on: September 18, 2013, 10:57:40 PM
to elaborate on my post to creativex, please turn your page to http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/

with difficulty currently at 112,000,000, 1GH/S at 1W/GH is less than a penny of electricity needed to produce 59 cents worth of profit per 24 hours.

lets crank that up now to 1,112,000,000 (that's a network hashrate of 10PH/S).. your electricity costs are still less than 5% of your profit if you're running 2W/GH.

As you can see, 1W/GH vs 2W/GH isn't going to matter at all until we see phenomenal network hash rates of hundreds of PH/S

icebreaker keeps claiming that 1W/GH vs 1.5W/GH is important, and this is just plain trolling as it does not make much financial sense at all.

I would also like to add that eASIC will be constantly fine tuning the watts/GH, so it's hard to believe that a leading ASIC designer is not going to have a competitive power efficiency in their chip design.

...still waiting for the punchline...

Holy crap man. Do you even lift mine? Small miners that struggle to scrape together enough BTC to purchase a rig are surely going to care if their monthly power bill is going to increase by 100% or 200% regardless of how many PH it is until they're actually losing fiat to the power company. To say nothing of the fact that the heat has to be dealt with and mining gear that uses more power...PRODUCES MORE HEAT. Not everyone is lighting their cigars with $100 bills bud. Equipment that uses more power can incur unforeseen expenses. Visits from the electrician and/or the heating and cooling guy as well.
132  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: VMC Fast Hash Price Drop = 64GH/s for $1K in November on: September 18, 2013, 10:30:23 PM
Watts/GH are a rough estimate, and won't matter anyway until the network hash rate is 500PH/S.  Electricity costs are pointless to talk about at this point in the game, and for many months to come, especially with this high-end technology from eASIC.  We have explained this to you numerous times, and this why we choose to ignore you -- NOT because we can't answer it.  We have also explained to you the flaws of a "miner protection plan" and how it is actually a red flag.  I am going to start making automated responses to your repeated questions..

Don't care about the lack of a gimmicky mpp, but you can't possibly be serious about efficiency numbers. Someone paying for VMC equipment would still have to budget fiat for power consumption. The difference between efficient gear and inefficient gear could easily be the difference between a positive ROI and a loss for many with high electrical costs.
133  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: VMC -- FAST HASH. $6/GH on: September 18, 2013, 10:18:50 PM
Potential returns are thin even if everything goes smoothly. Combined with efficiency estimates that vary wildly depending on configuration and the potential for delays, this becomes a very risky investment with little potential upside. The price cuts at least made it worth looking into.
134  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Virtual Community Exchange w/ Options, DRIP, 2FA, API, CSV, etc. on: September 18, 2013, 09:35:07 PM
I really think its time for Burnside to consider taking some action regarding labcoin. The type of scandalous behavior that they are currently exhibiting is exactly the type of activity that will bring regulatory entities such as the SEC down on btc-tc. Labcoin's presence on btct could really jeopardize btct's continued existence.

I believe it would be difficult to classify some of these statements as something other than intentionally misleading.

Mining started Posted: 9 days ago

And here it comes, finally, today we are proud to announce the starting of mining operations in time with our roadmap.
The last week has been extremely busy and work is still in progress to bring online the whole hashing power.

We're currently averaging about 2 TH/s in solo mode, and expect to deploy at least 4 TH by monday 16, to reach gradually 50 TH within October.

The website will be updated this week in order to show our live hashing rate and dividends will be paid every two weeks.
More pictures of the laboratory setting where the hardware is currently deployed will be also distributed. Complete installment will be shown when our final premise will be ready. We're still considering some business aspects, including only focusing on the upcoming 65nm version for what concerns bulk chip sales. We plan to take a final decision regarding this issue during the next month.

We want to say thanks to all investors who trusted us during this long endeavor.

Labcoin Team

That's their latest official release. They waited several days after that official release to slowly announce in a piecemeal fashion on a thread that moves several pages every day that they're not meeting their official claims. They've still not updated their website or even the OP in their discussion thread to reflect their current status.

Despite the shadiness, the only statement in their contract they're obviously violating is this one and it's pretty generic:

- Regularly communicate the project financials to share holders in a way that lets share holders evaluate the performance, capital outlay and future of the project.

Hi Creativex,

I see you took some advice on board. thanks Smiley

I still believe point 1 and 5 should be taken to get us in an even stronger position.

Point 1 is not about liquidity this time it is about small investors using their dividend to buy some Basicmining

continue the great work

CIX

Hi cix888. I tend to approach the decision making process pragmatically. As such, failing to consider the advice of others would be unwise.

Thanks for the kind words. I believe the entire mining community is in for a tough Q4...It's my intention to position us to weather the storm and land on our feet when things settle. I'll keep the options you've mentioned in mind, but I don't want to spend a lot of time managing the share price that would be better spent managing the direction of the company itself.

Cheers.

It's disappointing that garbage companies like this one are siphoning funds from the crypto securities market. Done with this ridiculous circus.

UPDATE:

Just got off talking to Sam. The miners are running and the team is working on the pool mining integration, this should all be done in 'a few hours' (less then 12, more likely less then that but I have advised against setting a specific hour/time as this just leads to frustration if missed) and users will be able to view the mined coins through pool and this address:

https://blockchain.info/address/17psAW21J4twanAFWmbcd5WdX2pKeX3trm

I have asked Sam to sign the address so that it can be proven without a doubt that Labcoin is indeed the entity mining.

According to Sam the initial hash rate will be 'a few' TH and will be scaled up in the coming days as more miners come online.

TLDR; Pool mining is being integrated and will be running in the next few hours (less than 12). Address provided above will be used for mining and will be signed as proof. Initial mining will be 'a few' TH and scaled up in the coming days.

lol.... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

nothing mined
dickhead

Totes. This security is a joke.

LABCOIN

Please make a new self mod thread so we can actually see your posts. this is just getting stupid.

I would say everyone here move to speculation thread but that didnt work before so.. yknow..

All LC would have to do is update the original post with their latest excuse info. This hasn't happened since late July. They could also update their own website with info, but this hasn't happened either.

Please stick to the time. Need 30 min to get home. xD

Don't worry dex, we'll watch your chips for you... Grin

No one said Josh "promised" anything.

If you read through this thread you will find your statement to be false. It has been repeatedly stated that this was a hard deadline by several of those posting. I was simply correcting them.

I will not argue the quality or reliability of those estimates as I consider them to be poor as well.

Provides quotes to that nature please.

Right in the OP you will see the word "Estimation"  (it's right next to the word lie ) if you have trouble finding it.

This isn't about promises.  Butterfly Labs and the word "promise" are/is an oxymoron"
