121  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: November 22, 2014, 07:26:50 PM
Hey guys,,

Im currently running 11 S4 with 9 more on the way,, I have been very pleased with the s4,, however I have 1 issue that Im hoping you guys can help with,,

Just got this one yesterday, and one hashboard is only showing 11 chips,,, I have reloaded firmware,, power cycled,, rebooted,, reset to defaults,, opened it up checked all connections,, reseated all connections,,

and nothing,, same result,, chain 1 is showing only 11 chips. ANy help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I already have one S4.  I'm WANTING to purchase 4 more S4's on the 29th of this month.  However, hearing this kind of crap concerning "quality and control" is beginning to make me have 2nd thoughts!

ebay or wait for new tech due out soon.
122  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: November 20, 2014, 07:00:09 PM
How so on the SP20?  Lower output, similar power requirements....

Power is always the primary concern for cost over time.

Real world numbers ... 15% more power = 15% less profit or 15% longer to get a positive ROI assuming initial costs are equal.
1200w for 1.7TH 0.7
+0.8 for S3 S4

Ask the question, why it's difficult to get hold of a spondoolies but easy to buy a bitmaintech. Why are we still stuck on batch 11 for the s3's. Why are they giving such great deals at the moment. End of life products. (within the month most likely)
123  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Need Some Guide For buying hardware on: November 20, 2014, 06:51:54 PM
SP20 if you can import from Israel. Or find an alternative method.

Wait for new hardware (2nd batch at least) from any of the major players. In stock.

Ebay is your better option if you want a guaranteed refund policy.

Whatever you do, be careful with dogie's reviews. He is a paid employee of Bitmain and more what others have mentioned. Read between the lines of any of his posts. And watch for his links. They are affliate links so he will get commission on not just what you click of his, but every purchase in your shopping cart. Just a heads up. People like this just post post post to attract attention (click bait) to their affiliate based links.

The 400 coupon seems to make these one of the better buys. Competitive with the SP20.

SP20 far cheaper long term. And from what we've seen, more reliable.

The new low power chips are less than a month away. This is the same fire sale as with the S2's before the newer models come out.
125  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: November 20, 2014, 06:40:50 PM
I'm assuming there is no issue with stacking S4s? Or would running them vertical (PSU intake side up) be preferable?
They have rack mount ears--they are designed to be mounted in a DC horizontally.

What I meant was stacking them directly on top of each other, without a cabinet supporting the weight of each unit.

They're not that heavy, although I wouldn't go more than 4 in a stack. You could probably go more but I wouldn't.

If you do follow this dogie employee's blah blah advice, remember to strap them as one. They will vibrate or worst case, if you live in an earth quake region, they could potentially fall, kill or create a fire.
126  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Cooled Miner C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: November 20, 2014, 03:23:12 AM
I'm not sure how they are studying it without getting one of the bad V1 harness.

Because the reason for the harness upgrade was bad crimp connections - not something that could damage a board or cause a fire.

blah blah blah

First time I've heard a lack of cooling could never cause a fire. Dogie a paid employee knows something we don't?

with three fans available, i have never read of someone who has had a failure on all 3 simultaneously...

i think it is impossible like mine a btc block in solo!!!

blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

3 larger more reliable fans can be far better than 6 smaller less reliable.

thank goodness for ignore! Keep posting reviews for your employers doggie. You need some doggie bags with what you're leaving behind.

A Prisma cost 1.47 BTC or $579, an SP20 cost over $900 with shipping. The SP20 is $258 away from being the same cost of 2x 1.4T Prismas.

My  sp20 cost  197 usd more then my asic miner prisma.  I over paid for the  prisma as I used paypal.

I like the prisma but I don't think I can run it when I am out of my home.
I have a sick relative and spend 2 days at a time with him in NY about 80 miles from my NJ house.
I tried to downclock the prisma to use low power when it is unattended and I have found that no matter how low I clock it. It uses 1000 watts.
So at freq 210 it hashs at 1000 gh and uses 1000 watts or 1 watt per gh  not good.
So I bumped it back up to freq 240 I get 1400gh and 1245 watts. or about .889 watts per gh

I can tell I do not want to run it if I am not home for 2 days or so.  This is going to be the case for the next 3 months.
If it would scale down and use 890 or 880 watts when down clocked to freq 210 hashing at 1000gh I would keep it.

The sp20 should be safer to leave unattended.
The sp20 should be able to downclock and not use more power per gh.
If I leave it unattended and it scales down at 1000gh I am looking at 640 watts. vs 1000 for the asic miner

Since my price difference is 197 usd.  I think I can make up the price in the long run.

If you expecting an SP20 to be any quieter then you are going to be seriously disappointed. Try reading what people have said about the noise out of them. Also, if you're worried about your house burning down while you are not there then I have to ask, did you not see all the pictures in this thread of the mining farm that burned down?

was that an AMHash farm?
131  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Home mining makes a comeback: check out Spondoolies new offer, the Jackson SP20 on: November 16, 2014, 06:08:27 PM
These things are WAY over priced.  $1100 $795.  3 S3s will give you similar hash rate and just slightly less efficient W/Ghs wise at just above half the price.  Its a no brainer.  And of course there is also the C1 which isn't as efficient but the price is right.

^FTFY. if you think $795 for 1.7TH/s is 'WAY overpriced' you should really find another hobby  Kiss

the equation is this;

Your belief in Bitcoin vs price of hardware vs your electricity costs.
nowhere in this equation is the efficacy of the miner, as you fail to mention the efficacy of the miner in your own statement.
you're welcome.  Grin

Show us the maths comparing it to AMHash then. Include the required delivery costs and the cost of a PSU as well.

for why should i be arsed to do this?

 Cheesy

They are just baiting you so they can indirectly promote their own product by quoting it in a reply.

This is an ass backwards guide for IP settings on your antminers. Don't follow OP's instructions. Do it the same way as the S1.

Its also really not S3 specific, the thread is just here to link to his group buy.

Its It's ...

The thread is rather informative. IT'S an independent review, not a paid employee. Has noise figures also which many reviews leave out.

 Thanks.

now we wait... 2015 isn't too far away.

wait for what? Even if they have pics of 4U box, that does not mean shit. DO NOT PAY WITH BTC!

evidently, you need a lesson in sarcasm

okcoin now requires account verification for BTC and LTC deposits/withdrawals, at least on new accounts.
136  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Cooled Miner C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: November 12, 2014, 10:08:09 PM

Something else to consider is what is the power consumed by both the miner and the cooling unit combined? It would be nice for someone to review the true numbers at the wall. No employee reviews please.

Thank you!

So effectively, it's close to an S3. Perhaps a little more but not significantly.
137  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Achilles Labs - by Ancenda Technology in Shenzhen on: November 12, 2014, 10:03:19 PM
With a unit weight of 11kg, shipping will likely be more. 4U size too.

Shipping cost looks to be zero, I have just performed a checkout.

Well that would be something nice to see again from a company. They'd have to be losing though on the low end units since they are all 4U form factors. Would be great to see a review on one. We need a little "real" competition again.

Has anyone received a positive response for replacement pump from SysCooling.

My pump gave up too so C1 is sitting powered off.
I am at the moment afraid to buy another C1 even if it comes with cooling kit.

Here is my take on C1
1. More easily stackable  (+) (as seen in the pictures in this forum)
2. Energy Efficiency (+) but same as S3
3 Shipping cost (-) ( too high USD99)
4. Point of failures (-) ( pump, radiator clogging etc.) more than S3

I somehow still like it more than S3, don't know why.

Also, unless you live on a concrete slab without any flooring that is susceptible to water damage, it would be advisable to put a large container under in the event of a leak. Damage to flooring and sub flooring can cost a great deal more.
139  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Achilles Labs - by Ancenda Technology in Shenzhen on: November 12, 2014, 09:09:09 PM

aahummm prices are very good, also the specs of the miners

Yeahh more information would be nice

Prices were good as of last week but spondoolies just dropped their prices dramatically. Even with included power supplies, the AM-1700 is a little expensive at $1095. With a unit weight of 11kg, shipping will likely be more. 4U size too.

... SPTech ARE doing a pretty damn good job ...
We're trying. Thank you.

I believe you've been the most transparent company in not just keeping people informed on orders, but on upcoming technologies. Please keep up that great work!
