Pool is up:

https://geo.maxminers.net

@Dev: Please add the pool to the OP and hopefully some hashes will be spread !

Big thanks to ocminer for the help !

Big thanks for spreading guys, we've already got a very lucky first block ! Smiley

Thank you! Spread the hash guys Smiley

QubitCoin-cpuminer-v.1.1

is there bulided .exe for windows ?

I think you can find one here: https://hamsterpool.com/index.php?page=gettingstarted#how_to_qubit

Sorry guys, someone got to the source code early and mined a bunch of blocks, I'm restarting the blockchain and will launch as soon as that's complete.

Announcement

Geocoin testing with Qubit algorithm has been successful. We will launch the coin with the source, windows-qt wallet and mining instructions at 7:00 AM Monday, January 19, 2015 UTC. Which is 8 hours from now.

Dev, thanks for listening to everyone, making the decision to switch to Qubit and doing it so quickly. I am ready to mine  Wink
So to my understanding is Qubit a GPU mining algo then?

Qubit is a secure hasing algorithm that uses 5 rounds of hashing functions (luffa, cubehash, shavite, simd, echo). It is ASIC & FPGA resistant. You can mine qubit using CPU or GPU. Mining rentals don't support qubit because it is so rare.

Hi everyone,

I have gotten a big wave of PMs asking me about the launch so here is the update:

We have compiled and tested GeoCoin with the qubit algorithm and everything is working smoothly. Many blocks have been mined for testing purposes. The wallet is running on multiple unix machines (Qt wallets compiled smoothly on Ubuntu & fedora) and wallets are synced. We are compiling the Windows wallet so we keep an eye on this forum. Launch time will be announced soon.
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: January 17, 2015, 05:49:03 PM
dev, is this coin launched ontime?
any pool announced yet?

No, we delayed launch to switch to the rare and fair Qubit mining algorithm. We will launch within a few days, update will be posted here.

Thankfully, ocminer has announced he will be supporting this coin with his pool.
129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: January 17, 2015, 05:40:24 PM

Qubit is a good rare algo.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=688311.0 << CDT has been a great coin for me to mine over the past 4 months. CDT is Qubit and has never been abused by anyone.
I bought Trees valued at $4,500 USD with my CDT and have received a certificate from the farmer declaring my ownership.

I wish all coins could work out as good as CDT. Qubit is an excellent choice to switch to.

I hope this coin works out and doesn't get abused by big investors/miners.

What exactly is Qubit algo? Could someone help me out with where you might be able to rent rigs for this algo or if not what type of miner I need to have set up and where to find out how to set one up, I would really appreciate that Smiley Thanks Wink

We will post all the mining information here before launch. It is straight forward.

It is great to see another coin with a real purpose. Not a lot of them around these days.
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: January 17, 2015, 12:27:51 AM
The premine is a real killer here. Technically it may be 0.5%, but after a month it is still nearly 10%. It would be completely insane to buy that coin once it hits an exchange.

EMC2 has some kind of mining tax. I wonder why it isnt possible to have a really tiny premine and then add this kind of tax. I am not familliar with the details, but it cant be that comlicated, can it?

We had to do it so our developers can be paid a little for a lot of work. It is really good for the developers to have some coins because they will work really hard to make those coins valuable. After only 1 month 90% of the coins will be distributed through qubit mining which should allow for a nice distribution. Our vision is long term, many years. I don't really like the idea of taxing people to mine the coin, although I think it would be a suitable solution. If you are uncomfortable with it, wait until you see what we are using the premine for (our developments) before investing or mining.

Thanks
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: January 17, 2015, 12:17:42 AM
any info on aprox launch time?

I doubt it will be out anytime this week. They are switching algos. If they can do that in less than a week, I would be impressed.

Yes it will take time to switch algos and test. We will launch as soon as we're ready (no ninja, you will have some time if you want to mine at launch). I expect less than a week, that way fartbags will be impressed  Grin.

Update will be posted on this thread.
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: January 16, 2015, 06:57:50 PM
So Qubit or X11 ?

Qubit would be really cool.. Had long time no Qubit Pool running...

ocminer, are you setting up a pool for this coin?? I love to mine on your pool.

I like x11 or x13.

Thanks mate, yes i'll be hosting a pool since they switch to Qubit now which is really an interesting algo and quite rare.

@Dev: Good choice ! Give me a short heads up when you're ready and I'll prepare the pool for you.

Will do, and thanks for the support!
134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: January 16, 2015, 05:32:31 PM
Not another x11 coin , change algo to something else or why release it at first place.
X11 algo is really a bad choice

Miners are not willing to mine X11 aglo coins with GPU to compete with FPGA

So Qubit or X11 ?

Qubit would be really cool.. Had long time no Qubit Pool running...

After taking some time to review our algorithm choice, we are switching to Qubit. I'm sorry I didn't realize this at the beginning. Launch will likely be delayed until we can switch algorithms. Update will be made on this thread later today. x11 is out, qubit is in.

Thanks to everyone for your comments and helping me come to this realization.

CKC COPY CAT

I don't get the impression that they are working off of the CKC code base at all. The dev of this coin uses big scientific words. CKC looks like they want to put pins on a map. I get a good open source feeling from this coin.

Hi, yes we are science & analysis driven. As a geo-enthusiast, I hold some CKC but unfortunately I don't think they have delivered any geotechnologies yet. I think we should all support integrating new technologies with crypto. People need to stop supporting coins that have no purpose.

I don't think CKC has any GIS developers which would make things really difficult. The only similar thing we have is that we both are developing geocaching technologies. However, this is only 1 geotechnology we are working on and we are taking a very different approach.

nice logo.
I'll mine some GEO,but I really don't like X11 algo for it has really been raped by FPGA for months.  Sad
Ya it is tough to get around that FPGA raping when it comes to X11 but this coin also has a very small block reward so it might deter huge mining rigs from wanting to put their power and energy into mining this coin but I don't know for sure because I'm not a owner of a huge miner so I couldn't really tell you Smiley

I agree they will rape X11

What algorithm do you guys think is best to start? Maybe qubit is the most fair?

How well does FPGA outperform? Do you have any links showing how the FPGAs are used for x11? This coin will be mined over several years.

http://geo.minerpools.com/ - Dev please add it to the op! Thank you!

Hi and thank you for adding your pool, it is on the OP. We are considering switching to Qubit mining algorithm before launch. If we do this, does you pool support qubit?

If you have nothing before launch, plz fuck off!
we don't need any empty promise. too many shitcoins and scams in crypto world now.

We did not make any promises.

Note this anyone who is thinking of buying this bs.

Hi,

We are professional GIS developers and in no way are we bs. If you are uncomfortable with it, don't invest. Investors should feel confident in it.

This is an opportunity for people to get in early before significant developments are made. If you need to see our developments first, then wait until you see them.

1. Ok so then prove it

2. This is an opportunity for people to get ripped off by vaporware

3. Scam until proven otherwise

Thanks for your comment. I understand your point of view because there is no regulation and scams are everywhere. Since the developments are just starting up I have nothing to show you to prove we are not a scam. I see how that is risky, we are strangers in an unregulated market. But if it were a scam we would make barely any money. Scammers these days get maybe $5000 if they are a success. We are GIS professionals, we are not poor, there would be no point in scamming for us, would just be a waste of time. We are in this for the long run, to be one of the top coins.

I will be mining and buying the coins up while we develop. Proof will come in time. Best of luck with your investments.
