Staff representatives at the European Central Bank are disappointed that a planned pay rise doesn’t make up for inflation that’s currently five times the official 2% target.

I am tempted to recommend them to dca into BTC, but I am not sure how well that advice would be received.

I'd like to share the brilliant wisdom of the ECB with the WO. (You know the "whatever it takes" money printing and bond buying type of "experts"):

The value of bitcoin peaked at USD 69,000 in November 2021 before falling to USD 17,000 by mid-June 2022. Since then, the value has fluctuated around USD 20,000. For bitcoin proponents, the seeming stabilization signals a breather on the way to new heights. More likely, however, it is an artificially induced last gasp before the road to irrelevance – and this was already foreseeable before FTX went bust and sent the bitcoin price to well below USD16,000.

^emphasis mine

So, they are actually saying I'm better off with their shitcoin Euro?

* psycodad reconsiders for a moment - and discards.

I'll try that irrelevance thing.

This Tweet is from a suspended account.

This is one reason twitter sucks.

If this isn't censorship, I have no clue what is.

Here it is for anyone that missed it.

Thanks for digging that up, should have quoted the gist of it, but quoting from Twitter is a total PITA.

SELL OR BUY

Buy whenever possible, regardless of the price.

Sell only when you absolutely must, regardless of the price.

I am following this advice since several years and it served me very well so far. (TBH honest you and Bob beeing happy about buying something nice from BTC at non-optimal prices serve as kind of model for me.)
I am generally happy with how things worked out for me, though I wonder if there is any advice on what alcoholic beverage is suitable to flush down the pain and misery felt from having to sell at 16k to pay bills?

Recently I started to consider switching from prosecco and wine to shoving ethanol soaked tampons up my rear cavity to numb that voice in my head telling me that the BTC I just sold could be hundreds of thousands in a few years..

What a well timed coincidence with the FTX implosion:

    The Federal Reserve of New York and a group of private banking firms launched a 12-week digital dollar pilot project.
    The project is titled “the regulated liability network,” and it will conduct a test on usage of digital dollar tokens by banks.
    The stablecoin market has stabilized once again, Fitch Ratings announced return of confidence to larger coins like Tether (USDT).

Just got the latest BlockFi newsletter and am wondering: Is BlockFi the next domino to fall?

<snip>

We determined late last week that in the current environment we could no longer operate our business as usual. Given that FTX and its affiliates are now in bankruptcy, the most prudent decision for us, in the interest of all clients, is to continue to pause many of our platform activities for now.

The rumors that a majority of BlockFi assets are custodied at FTX are false. That said, we do have significant exposure to FTX and associated corporate entities that encompasses obligations owed to us by Alameda, assets held at FTX.com, and undrawn amounts from our credit line with FTX.US. While we will continue to work on recovering all obligations owed to BlockFi, we expect that the recovery of the obligations owed to us by FTX will be delayed as FTX works through the bankruptcy process.

<snip>

At this time, withdrawals from BlockFi continue to be paused. We also continue to ask clients not to submit any deposits to BlockFi Wallet or Interest Accounts.

<snip>
^emphasis mine

I tested BlockFi as passive income opportunity end of 2020 for one month, was unhappy that the interest was not paid on 1st of new month and withdrew the 0.1BTC I deposited before back to my wallet. Then interest for that month got paid to my account and I have let that few sats compound interest over time for fun.

OK Guys,

Not sure why I feel the desire to tell you guys (and girl) this, I guess after lurking daily for about 18 months, I've tricked my psychie into actually thinking of some of you as friends.

Anyway, after consistently DCA'ing every week for 75+ weeks, I am officially past the "one in 100M" point. Unfortunately, in mid September I became literally one. My beautiful wife, whom I have adored for the last 22 years packed up her basic necessities and announced that we were getting a divorce. No fights, no affairs, no logical explanation. She had already set up a PO Box, a new bank account, and had a little less than ½ of the available funds transferred a couple hours before informing me. As of that morning I was 100% certain that we were in for the long haul, till death did us part. As of that evening I was a broken mess wondering why I was still breathing. I came to the grim resolution that she had not killed me (physically) because she didn't want to live with the guilt. And therefore, because I love her so much, I can't just die and force her to live with it anyway.

I'm broken. But I still got my Bitcoin and I am in the green... so that's nice... I guess.

That's very saddening to hear, so sorry for your loss mate - especially given the disturbing nature of cirumstances ("As of that morning I was 100% certain"..). I really shudder at that thought.

I could tell you that things will get better soon, and that you will find new love making your life bright and happy again - but then you'd probably find out that I suck terribly at predictions and it could make things even worse..
But rest assured that I and assumably all others here wish you the very best and we hope that you indeed will be finding that eternal soulmate for the long haul that everybody deserves at one point in future.

<insert words of encouragement and support that I lack in english>,

Looking at recent ChartBuddy posts, BTC loos like the least volatile asset on earth  Grin
May the blockchain be with you  Cool

but so very boring

Please do not provoke it unnecessarily, even so if you want your 14k prediction to come through to tell us all "told ya!"  Cheesy

Next somebody will post the "C'mon do something" meme and then it will most definitely go down more.
So please don't!

Just remember when we were bored with Vegata numbers and said so here loudly, it went down to 5k to show us the middlefinger.

Honeybadger does it's thing no matter how boring we think it is, but if we show it our disapproval it always teaches us a lesson.

Let's just enjoy it's crab dance as long as it lasts.

All a bunch of shite and unnecessary loss of life.

That's what every single war is.

We obviously have not yet evolved to the point where we no longer greed for the property/land/subordination of other humans.

According to Hobbes this is the state of nature - the war of all against all. He also said (freely translated from my German version) that humankind is the only form of life who takes an immense pleasure from watching other creatures having less (comfort, resources, riches etc.). For us humans it's never about having more than enough, it's about having more than others - no matter how plentiful it is already what you have. While this virtue made humankind fly to the moon (before others) it too is and will be what finally will get us all (or most of us) purged from that blue marble.

War is the normal for humans, it is only interrupted by short periods of peace. We were just a relatively lucky generation (until now).

Right now I do not so much think about where the next bull run peaks, I am more concerned if I/we will still be here to enjoy that peak as things escalate so quickly all around currently and there are enough players at the table taking profit from that situation which makes further escalations very likely.

The ones who do not die in wars get to live on and carry the torch of human evolution. Hopefully we survive until then as a species. But the chances are extremely low. But with every day that humans do not wipe each other out, the chances get a little higher, day by day.

That only works if the rotten apples let their life and the fine people survive. I fear the rotten apples are the ones sending the fine people to war, letting them starve, freeze etc. Also the longer it goes on, the more humans we get and the easier it will become to lit up that giant powder keg called humanity.

Kinda glass half-full / half-empty point of view I guess. Obviously my glass is half-empty. But that doesn't make me a pessimist, I am simply drinking too much too quickly Grin

I wonder how much contagion Credit Suisse becoming a power-bottom is going to cause...

I predict they will be bailed out and saved by Swiss tax payers and (hopefully) the impact on markets will not be that big. Though still a classic "all hands man their battle stations" and "brace for impact" situation nonetheless.
In Switzerland we don't let dinosaurs die, we label them system-relevant (the new term for "too big too fail", which has got some negative connotations over time) and pump new money up their greedy asses.

<snip>

Meanwhile, here is a screenshot of four coin hash rates pre-merge:

Bitcoin's hash rate is hundreds of times higher than DOGE, LTC (which are actually merge-mined) and ETH. Granted, zero energy consumption is better than some... but in comparison the three altcoins are just tiny blips compared to the amount of energy consumed by Bitcoin.

<snip>

Are you really comparing BTC SHA256 and LTC S-Crypt hashrate 1:1?
If such a comparison is desired it should be done based on energy used by the hashing for each algo respectively.
134  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Guide] FULL NODE OpenSUSE 15.3: bitcoind + electrs + c-lightning + RTL on: September 19, 2022, 09:12:20 AM
I have a question. How does lightning daemon works normally when I've renamed the lightning directory? (lightning is the v0.11.2 directory, lightning2 is the old v0.10.2 directory which is running at the moment)

What binary does it run when I execute lightningd?

Maybe try
Code:
whereis lightningd
in a shell (assuming it is in your $PATH when you execute it like that).

136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: September 11, 2022, 08:47:20 PM
Litecoin has lightning?

Yes, Litecoin does indeed have lightning. In fact, Litecoin was first before Bitcoin to prove that Lightning was not only theoretically possible, but literally possible as well.

https://www.lookintolitecoin.com/post/lightning-strikes-twice-litecoin-has-lightning-network-like-bitcoin

That's true, but literally nobody is using it, it seems basically dead.
I had a lightning node for about 1 year and more than 10 channels, after that year 2 channels were left and I never routed a single transaction.
For it to come to life, the onchain fees fiat equivalent would need to be much higher (simply put: LTC needs to cost hundreds of USD first). Right now there is no need/incentive for lightning in LTC compared to onchain txs.
137  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: WARNING Gate.io did the latest scam on: September 08, 2022, 12:34:46 PM
Quoted to show images, also resized two images for better readability:

Gate.io did the latest scam, I sent TIPS token in February, yesterday credit unknown, worthless TIPSO.

Here you can see that gate.io credit TIPS to another user (I have the owner's permission to post)

Here is another user who received a deposit in April. I have his permission to publish, they also sent a screenshot of my problem.

Now let me explain the scam with pictures.
Fedoracoin TIPS deposit is falsely suspended, it's clear from the pictures above, it's also clear because withdraw works.
Here is the proof that TIPS withdraw works and that the deposit is suspended falsely:

It is clear that TIPS withdraw and this imaginary TIPSO that were credited to me are working. They stole about 233 million, one transaction was not a transfer to an imaginary TIPSO.

Now I post a picture of a TIPS deposit that is suspended (as possible when withdraw works normally) and an imaginary TIPSO that is not suspended and does not exist and has no trade pair.

Here is a picture where TIPSO are credited with the same tx as TIPS:

A picture of the explorer where you can see that I sent the first transaction in February:

Here, the support senior agent explains to me how it's the same, they transferred my coins to imaginary banks without my permission, this is for a criminal complaint:

A user can send some TOKEN, they create a new one and get a token that has no value, I've never seen this on exchanges and I've been here for years.
I consider this a serious offense and a serious fraud.

Make sure you leave a gap for your antenna otherwise you will kill your radio too.

Not a problem, due to the age of the car the radio isn't DAB capable, so it will be bricked by 2024 latest.
I don't need anymore voices while I drive anyway, the missus seems completely sufficient as onboard entertainment system.
