121  Economy / Economics / Re: Financial Advice for a young millionaire on: June 27, 2024, 07:51:35 PM
Truth be told, I have never been a millionaire, so I can't give advice to one, young or old. None of the people here are millionaires neither, unless proven otherwise, so getting advice from people who have never experienced this, will not be a good advice at all. I think the best thing we could talk about here would be just what we are lacking and what a millionaire may not lack.
Yes, that is the kind of advice which must come from someone who has already had access to millions of dollars, as he will have the experience to answer that question accurately. Most of us here, if not everyone, would also need such advices if we were in the shoes of the young hypothetical millionaire. We can imagine what we could do with a big sum of money, but it's just speculation.

The truth is that reality would be totally different and we would feel lost and unsure on what to do. Probably to seek for a professional financial advisor would be a good idea. Personally, I wouldn't trust random people on the internet regards what to do with millions of dollars... To invest in Bitcoin would be a certain thing to do, but not with the whole money disponible.
122  Economy / Gambling discussion / Bank teller stole $28,000 from customers to feed her gambling addiction on: June 27, 2024, 07:02:11 PM
Quote
In the last two months of her employment, the 28-year-old stole money from four customers, with the thefts only being discovered when one of them queried receiving a letter about money being withdrawn from a dormant account.
TSB Bank teller stole $28,000 from customers to feed her gambling addiction

How far do people go to feed a gambling addiction?

In this story we have a young bank teller, 28 years old lady, who stole 28,000$ from four different elders who were suffering from health and cognitive problems. Her goal was to fuel a gambling addiction, as presented by the defense at the court.

Families must be attentive to their elders when going to the bank and dealing with money in general. Scammers and thieves are everywhere and always ready to take advantage of the vulnerability of such individuals at an advanced age.
123  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the merits and demerits of casinos setting withdrawal limits on: June 27, 2024, 05:32:58 PM
This is the reason I felt we can discuss the merits and demerits of casinos setting withdrawal limits. What is your opinion?
I don't see any merits in casinos setting withdrawal limits. The customer should be allowed to withdraw any amount of money he wishes from the platform at anytime. Of course there is always a withdrawal fee involved, so nobody will be crazy to withdraw small sums of money, considering they will have to pay a transaction fee equally or more expensive than the sum they are attempting to cash out.

This mechanism by the casino is already enough to prevent gamblers from spamming the network with small transactions and causing further issues and losses for the platform. If there are any other preventive measures to forbid gamblers from withdrawing their money from the website, I think it's a bad move by the casino, which I would view with suspicion and mistrust.

Gambling is hard enough already to make profit from, so the minimum casinos can do is to make the withdrawal process smooth and easiest as possible for gamblers.
124  Economy / Speculation / Re: Today more BTC were sold than MtGox will pay out in July ... on: June 27, 2024, 05:20:34 PM
I believe the impact of Mt. Gox redistribution event is more psychological than practical. When you know large sums of Bitcoin are going to be dropped for sale on the market, the impact is much more devastating and negative than when such sales happen in a daily basis without any previous warnings or expectations.

Add this to the boost given by the media which keeps sharing these news in alarming contexts to the public. It leads to a wave of fear and pessimism among investors, who will also tend to add more coins for sale. That is when the scenario gets really bad on short term.

If investors kept in mind the redistribution made by Mt. Gox corresponds to a minor portion of BTC negotiations, we would have the practical effect only, which is minimal. However, fear is an infectious disease, and the media is the main contagious agent. Unfortunatelly, very few individuals have developed autoimmunity against it, so you can expect the psychological conditions to have a noticeable effect over market's fluctuations.
125  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bookmaker's predictive mistakes. on: June 27, 2024, 05:01:36 PM
Let's say bookmakers do predictive mistakes. That is something which rarely happens, but we still have to consider this possibility as it's made by humans, and humans aren't perfect on their actions and performances.

However, if you wait a bookmaker to commit a lapse, you will have a hard time finding gambling matches to bet on, because as we know, it rarely happens. You will spend a long time searching for a bet which bookmakers didn't manage to set accurate odds, and in the end it still doesn't guarantee you are going to win the bet, anyway.

If you manage to find a good opportunity you think bookmakers made a mistake, go for it, but don't put a lot of effort on searching for it. I guess you will regret a lot after you concluded you have wasted your time doing this. Precious time you could have used for more important and rewarding matters.
126  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Personal interest should not despite reality in politics on: June 27, 2024, 02:42:54 AM
Many thinkers, philosophers, writters and people in general have already pointed out this issue in politics since many centuries ago, but it has always been a present issue without any solutions at all. We can talk about it as much as we wish, and no conclusions, neither solutions will be found, anyway.

So I guess the collective causes are doomed to failure. Everything which demands effort from a large group of people will inevitably end into frustration and corruption, as some people will take charge of the situation, and will use it to benefit themselves, instead of working to benefit the whole society.

And since these things are out of your control as individuals, the best you can do is to not put so much energy and effort in such matters. Instead of that, focus in yourself, in improving your own personal life and the lives of the people who are around who you think really matter after all. This way, you won't need to rely too much on the collective, so all the frustration, suffering and nonconformity you feel for having leaders who don't behave exemplary will fade out.

Individuals have to learn to give importance to what is important in life, what means to give importance to what is on their range of interaction and fulfillment, while keeping secondary things they can't really decide, while avoiding things they have to go against their principles and values to accomplish.
127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: For me, Bitcoin is just a financial Game. on: June 27, 2024, 02:02:23 AM
Be mindful: if it's a game, there are rules to follow, risks involved, and winners and losers. Before you engage, research investment strategies, media influence, key influencers, benefits, risks, etc. Take charge of the game; don't let it control you.
Just like any other financial games, Bitcoin doesn't come with an instruction manual stating everything you have to do and when to do in order to be successful with this kind of investment. Therefore, even though you can learn a lot with early and veteran investors, you still have to learn part of the process by yourself, through your own personal experience, which can involve mistakes along the journey.

At same time you have to be in charge of your game, you must be also aware that you aren't that powerful and decisive on this game on the bigger picture. Whales who speculate and manipulate the market are. As consequence, rules plus risks change in real time, based on the actions of those big players. Everyone else are just small fishes trying to take advantage of the whales' movements in the ocean, so they can also make profit side by side, and consider themselves part of the winners' team!
128  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: GAMBLE RESPONSIBLY on: June 27, 2024, 01:02:58 AM
Just think about it, if he had that cash located in precious metals or in real state, then he would need time and some effort for him to convert those investments back into cash, and perhaps he would have had more time to get his ideas straight and not to gamble all of it...
Yes, the problem is that he had 400,000$ coming in handy. A lot of idle money without any purposes and goals in mind will inevitably result in a big mess. I believe he didn't accept well the fact of having lost the initial 12,000$ bet, so he went for a desperate recovery, which has never happened. At the middle of the way, he must have been probably even more desperated, because his strategy in gambling wasn't bringing any positive outcomes... Then he must have appealed to "all or nothing", and unfortunatelly ended with nothing.

If he had more time to think carefully about what he was intending to do, I'm sure he wouldn't have acted deliberately with his whole life's savings. But now since the mistake is already done, I think he has to move ahead and start working on what can be still done from now on. Probably he is an old man, so all the support he can get from family and friends is very important.
129  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy more Bitcoin when downward on: June 26, 2024, 11:38:01 PM
Here today BTC is matching into a pattern leading us downwards, still its not aggressive.  When we break this negative trend it should be noticeably very positive but the better value is before that obvious rise.
Bitcoin resistance level went from 64,000$ to 62,000$ on the last days. Now it's trying hard to remain at 60,000$, but we know the support level is at 58,800$ already. The current trend indeed show losses in Bitcoin potential on the recent days, as it's slowly going down, while trying to remain stable.

In fact, there aren't strong reasons to justify why Bitcoin is doing badly these days, since there isn't any new impacting event at a global level which could explain this.

News keep saying about interest rates in US affecting Bitcoin price, but it doesn't make sense at all, because despite interest rates from US, Bitcoin still managed to hit a new ATH this year already. It seems when the market is favourable to Bitcoin, news' writters immediately create reasons to justify optimism, but when the market falls down, the same news' writters reuse the elements and factors they used previously as boosters for BTC price, to justify they harmed the market this time.

For an example: when BTC pumps, news say it's due to the expectation of interest rates in US decreasing. But when BTC dumps, news say it's due to the interest rates in US which still didn't decrease or didn't decrease significantly.
130  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: basketball or football: Which sport is more profitable in relation to sports bet on: June 26, 2024, 11:27:35 PM
The ideal would be for each player to bet on what he has the most affinity for and identifies with the most, i.e I really like football, so the tendency would be to bet on football,
I agree with this point of view. There isn't a general more profitable alternative between Basketball and Soccer. It will depend on what category of sport each gambler has more affinity with. If you have no clue about Basketball, it's not a good idea to bet on it, because you won't be able to launch any grounded guesses and predictions regards the games, so it's definitely not going to be profitable for you.

however I have heard from my work colleagues that in basketball, like the moves are very fast, the court is small in relation to the field, players can bet on these moves to obtain advantages over bets based on guesses. Do you agree with this friend of mine?
I don't see it this way. Basketball matches are so random and uncertain like any soccer match, I suppose. It's still pretty risky to bet on minor moves and events of a match. Maybe your friend has been very lucky recently on his bets, so he is saying Basketball is more profitable than soccer. But that is just his current profits talking by him.
131  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: I miss Faucets on: June 26, 2024, 06:25:09 PM
Without faucets, how are micro earners making online income in 2024? Are there new opportunities available?

I think this sub-section of the forum could have so much potential, like being a spot for sharing and discussing another micro earnings alternatives which go beyond faucets. Something like that sub-board of Reddit called "Beermoney".

There are always newbies starting from zero who could be benefited by this, and even old adopters who want to have some fun grinding money online through alternative methods.
132  Economy / Speculation / Re: What to do when there is a continues DIP on: June 26, 2024, 05:31:18 PM
Whales don't want Bitcoin above neither below 60,000$. The price just get stuck there... Bitcoin got more stable along the years, and those who always complained about the volatility factor may see this now as an advantage when investing in Bitcoin.

So, it's not totally bad, although it's quite frustrating to not see any further gains during this bullish season yet. I mean, Bitcoin has already reached 71,000$ recently, so why does it have to keep stucked at 60,000$ right now? There is so much to explore above this price range!

For now we can just wait and hold most coins as possible waiting for the next positive trend, which nobody knows how long it's still going to take yet until happening for real. Everyone is bullish, but reality doesn't seem to be coherent with everyone's predictions...
133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Soldiers using gambling to cope with stress. on: June 26, 2024, 05:18:40 PM
Now, do you think soldiers who have left home for a long time and are going through boredom should be restricted from engaging in gambling which helps reduce their stress? If gambling does not have any effect on their performance on the waterfront and they gamble responsibly, do you think there should be restrictions?
Along the ages, soldiers have been used to cope with stress through different mechanisms such as cigarettes, alcohol and gambling. All these practices can lead to addiction, but it doesn't mean it's going to lead to addiction in every cases or even in most cases. War zones are chaotic places where fear, uncertainty and anger walk side by side with death. So the last of the issues you are going to worry is if there should be any restrictions regards gambling practice on the battlefront.

Those soldiers are surviving each day as it could be the last. If gambling can help them coping with this terrible sensation they feel 24 hours every day, let it be! It's not the ideal scenario, therefore don't expect ideal practices or solutions too.
134  Economy / Economics / Re: Is taxation theft? on: June 26, 2024, 04:33:20 PM
If a thief stole your property and donated it to charity or funded public infrastructure, wouldn't you still call it theft?
That's called Robin Hood.
Robin Hood stole the tributes from tax collectors and returned it to the peasants who paid the taxes. Although it's a fiction, it indicates Robin Hood acted fairly by returning to the people what was rightfully theirs, as he wasn't stealing indiscriminately from English citizens. Moreover, the peasants didn't want to have anything to do with the local government anymore, because they moved themselves to the forest to live there freely from the Sheriff of Nottingham's law.

It means they stopped using any services the government could provide. So the government couldn't give a reason to force them paying abusive taxes anymore.
135  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Won $4 Million and Died… on: June 26, 2024, 04:16:31 PM
Have you ever had a time when winning a large sum caused inconvenience and did not bring you the joy you expected?
The only inconvenience I have experienced when winning a large sum, was the fact of getting too anxious and stressed due to the burden of having to take care such a large sum of money. It's a big responsability to keep funds safe when you have a considerable amount on your hands. I got stressed because I feared losing that money somehow, like sending it to a wrong adress, being stolen by someone and so on. When we deal with small sums it's not the kind of thought which passes through your mind, but when the amounts get more voluptuous, it becomes a real fear.

Maybe that happens when we aren't used to deal with such sums of money. But if it were already a recurrent situation in our routines, I guess it wouldn't be stressing anymore.
136  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: June 26, 2024, 03:57:11 PM
Yeah, I know, but does it work for you? Does it actually log you off? It doesn't to me, it just refreshes the page.
I didn't try clicking the button. But since another users are reporting the same issue you did, it's indeed not working and support team should address this problem as soon as possible to maintenance team.

Are you happy with the rewards? How many free spins do you get per day? You really collected a lot of free spins, and I liked to collect a little more and only then use them.

It has always given somewhat balanced rewards, similar numbers of satoshis, RP's, and lottery tickets, so that didn't change. A lot of time has passed and I still haven't seen anyone brag about getting the famous Rolex. It seems like some unattainable prize...

Good luck Uneng, I hope you will have more luck with your next spins.
Actually, I didn't expect anything much different than that, as we have been receiving medium and high rewards less often these days. Moreover, base reward now is 17 satoshis, so I couldn't really compare the current results to the previous one, when base reward was still around 30 satoshis, if I remember correctly.

I get 16 spins every day.

Probably I would be a little happier if I had received more satoshis and RPs instead of lottery tickets, and even more happier if the feedback of the community regards freebitco.in in the present moment were positive, like it used to be in previous years. 7 GTs isn't too bad, though...

Thank you, Iv4n! Good luck to you too! I hope to see outstanding results from your spins soon!
137  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you put money together with friends to bet on sports games? on: June 25, 2024, 08:25:02 PM
It was an interesting idea to be honest, but I really was wondering if it was the right thing to do, remembering one incident that happened last year where two friends put money together in a bet, bet won, amount was really huge, the other stole the ticket ran away and cashed the entire money from a very far place, leaving the other guy with nothing.
I don't think this concept of gambling is totally bad. Gambling with friends is funny and exciting, you just have to choose carefully who is the friend you are going to place bets together. Make sure to stay by the side of trustful people who you know will honor their word, so you won't face the same situation the person of the story you mentioned above did. If you are uncertain about someone's honesty, then just avoid engaging in gambling deals with them.

The problem is that gamblers are so impulsive that they don't measure who they are going to deal with. So they end gambling together with untrustworthy people they couldn't even call friends, but acquaintances. If they took this security measure, I think stories like the one you mentioned would happen less often.

Another batch of WoF spins used. 68K satoshis profit made and 7 GTs for the next Lambo round from 4559 spins.

Is it just me or does the "log off" button doesn't work anymore? To log off I had to manually delete the cookies... Is the website slowly falling to pieces?
It's at the right side of your balance on the top bar of the website. It's not written "log off', but there is an icon with the same meaning there.

I hope the new support member manages to answer everyone's requests, keep us updated and the platform fixes the issues faced so far by users.
139  Economy / Economics / Re: Is taxation theft? on: June 25, 2024, 07:46:50 PM
Is it really against your consent though? They didn't take the taxes without you knowing. Before any tax is passed or increased the public is notified. So I guess we can take the issue of theft away.
Just because you know, doesn't mean you consented. Governments, regulators and politicians force you to pay, and if you don't, their partners, the judiciary system comes to the play to punish you. You don't have any alternatives. If it's not theft, it's extortion in the best of the cases...

Taxation becomes wrong when it becomes extreme and when the government don't make good use of the taxes. In my opinion, taxes are like payments to the government so they'll be able to continue providing what they're supposed to provide for their citizens. Where it becomes wrong is when you pay your taxes yet don't get anything in return.
I can't say for every countries, because there must be some civilized socities where taxation works and return good fruits for citizens in general. However, in countries supressed by corruption and lack of ethics, the scenario you described above is the reality 24 hours a day, for decades already. And it doesn't seem it's going to improve anytime soon.

Taxation keeps increasing in order to maintain the status quo of the authorities on the top of the pyramid. And nothing improves for the common citizens who pay the largest portion of the taxes (proportionally speaking). It's totally ethical and legit to do what is in your reach to avoid paying taxes to the government in this case.

Just because something is moral (what means the law or rule itself), doesn't mean it's ethical... Ethics reflect over morals, and if a law isn't ethical, it shouldn't be followed.
140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin and not any Altcoin? on: June 25, 2024, 07:28:05 PM
Bitcoin is the original decentralized currency which originated every other altcoins you see around. Altcoins are copies of Bitcoin created with the sole purpose of making profit through speculation. Bitcoin was created with an ideal in mind by Satoshi Nakamoto, while altcoins copied Bitcoin with the purpose of generating profit for crypto developers who saw in Bitcoin an opportunity for a living.

Even the top altcoin, which is Ethereum, enjoys the current status it has because it allows another crypto developers to launch their own tokens on its network. It's everything about speculation and quick profit opportunities, while the most important features they offer, Bitcoin already offered before any of them imagined existing.

As I see, Bitcoin is here to stay. On the other hand, altcoins just want to take some advantage of Bitcoin's popularity aiming quick gains for its developers, whales and early investors in general. If you want to think only about gains and forget the ideals Bitcoin brought up, you can be assured it's still the best alternative, because BTC is much more reliable on long run, as we can see its history since the beginning.
