121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is the oldest/youngest BTCer you know? on: May 13, 2015, 07:59:32 AM
I'm the oldest person I know using it although I stopped telling my age. I got tired of people asking me how long it took to cross the country on horseback and if I prefer black and white TV to color. lol  My neighbors kid smokes pot in the back yard. I was watering the plants a couple of years ago and asked him if he shopped on SR for his weed. He said no he gets it from school. He didn't know what Bitcoin was, we talked about it and now he uses it all the time. He was 15 back then. He's the youngest I know personally.

I know that story must sound strange to people in other parts of the world but San Francisco is an odd place. There's two constants about people in SF that hold true most of the time. You always assume everyone you meet is gay, lesbian or bisexual and everyone you meet gets high including the cops. lol

Oh my god, I can't believe! And did you teach that boy use Bitcoin to buy pot?!!

The youngest Bitcoiner I know of is nahtnam. He should be around 15 years old, seeing that he stated that he was 13 over here (which was two years ago). The youngest Bitcoiner I personally know is 17 and I'm 20 years old myself (will be 21 next week).

Boy genius!  Shocked

I sent my daughter a 1btc transaction to a physical bitcoin 3 minutes after cutting her umbilical cord. I will be giving it to her on her 18th birthday. That might be the youngest bitcoiner.

Wow. Great and unique gift that barely nothing else can compete with!

125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which city do you think can be the global bitcoin hub in the future? on: May 11, 2015, 02:40:20 AM
In my travels around Europe I always try to find a place that uses Bitcoin when I visit. When I was in Amsterdam in the fall I went to one bar and had a beer because they accepted Bitcoin. When I asked to pay the waitress had to ask the bartender, the bartender pulled out an iPad from under the bar. It was dead so he needed to charge it up to get it going. I don't remember what the final outcome was from the iPad but he couldn't get it to work so I just paid in cash.

*snip*

I guess this is the disappointing thing with bitcoin currently. It's hard to find anywhere that accepts bitcoin and when you do there always seems to be some complication.

I would like to be able to go to a tourist town and say I have only bitcoins, give me an itinerary for the weekend where I can eat, sleep, buy a few souvenirs and do a few tours paying for each place with bitcoins.

Well hopefully that will be possible in the future. I'd really like bitcoin to be a sort of world currency that you can use at many places all around the world. I'm sure these so called hubs will grow both in size and numbers over time but it'll be a slow process I reckon.

Yeah Bitcoin will be the global currency in future and it doesn't need any global hub. Once the mass adoption is started it will be used world wide and talking about the global hub i think Shanghai can be a better option as compared to USA or London.

Most bitcoin users in China are focus on mining and trading rather than paying.

Denmark maybe, or some other place that has no taxes about BTC gains and little regulation

Holland doesn't have taxes on BTC (yet). Amsterdam is starting to accept Bitcoin more and more and it attracts a lot of tourists. I smell a business opportunity Grin

Ya, Amsterdam has always been somewhat of a bitcoin haven. Cheesy

Not really. There's not many places you can spend your coins at all there sadly.

http://www.coindesk.com/five-ways-spend-bitcoin-amsterdam/

The Bitcoin Boulevard thing was just another buzzword and only had about ten shops you could spend your coins. I'm surprised coffeshops haven't got involved yet.

Looks like a PR stunt to attract bitcoin fans to visit Amsterdam.

Nice, another Bitcoin hub thread.
Wasn't there one the other day asking if London will be the Bitcoin hub?

Is it really that important that Bitcoin has a hub, therefor a central location?

Yes there was: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1039267.0

I'll reiterate what I said in there:

I don't get why people are so concerned with making certain cities bitcoin 'hubs' or 'capitals'. Isn't the biggest thing about bitcoin it being decentralized and essentially boderless? We don't need any central places so lets concentrate on spreading adoption far and wide rather than trying to get clusters in cities.

The "Hub" here probably refers to a place where people gathered to establish bitcoin business. When bitcoin develops into a new level that don't need them to maintain bitcoin's status, then the "hub" will eventually vanish. As for this phase, I think a hub is good for bitcoin.

if bitcoin goes mainstream, it'll really just be the global tech-finance hub.

I hope It'll be in Asia, say Shanghai/Singapore/Tokyo/Seoul, or a combination of those.

I'm glad you mentioned Shanghai as we based in China. And the receptivity of bitcoin in South Korea and Singapore is quite high.

Hello everyone, I am "Hobbit" from BitYes, Huobi's BTC-USD exchange. From now on, BitYes will raise a bitcoin related fun topic each week! Please speak out your fun and creative ideas.

Today's topic is Which city do you think can be the global bitcoin hub in the future? Why? Recently, London staked its claim to be the global bitcoin hub. ( http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/04/15/us-currency-bitcoin-london-insight-idUSKBN0N622320150415) Do you think London will surpass San Francisco with web expertise and New York with financial clout to be the foremost fintech center in the world? Or do you think Amsterdam is more likely because there are so many places you can use bitcoin?

Let us know your fun and valuable ideas!

Welcome to visit BitYes!

131  Economy / Speculation / Re: How Soros goes all in, is it the right time for bitcoin price to reverse? on: April 22, 2015, 03:59:28 AM
Soros goes all in when he can get inside info (like from central banks) on when a significant manipulation is about to happen.  There is no bitcoin central bank.  Soros won't go all in.

So you're saying the only way Soros could make those successful trades is because he had insider information? No real investing talent?
132  Economy / Speculation / Re: How Soros goes all in, is it the right time for bitcoin price to reverse? on: April 22, 2015, 03:49:39 AM
I think that there is a very good chance that we will see a reversal in the price of Bitcoin, but I'd think twice before going all-in on any investment. Especially one as speculative as this. Just my two satoshis. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Thank you for the advice!
133  Economy / Speculation / How Soros goes all in, is it the right time for bitcoin price to reverse? on: April 21, 2015, 02:23:21 PM
In the more than six years since the global financial crisis, there have been a large number of excellent speculative opportunities. Gold tripled, crude oil fell 80%, the Australian dollar fell 2000 points, and Bitcoin increased ten thousand-fold. So with all these investment opportunities, why not go all in? In 1992 George Soros went all in and broke the Bank of England.

The way Soros makes an all in bet is different than ordinary investors. He will wait for a key moment that has a high probability of being a reversal point, then he will go all in. Ordinary investors often make many bets that each have a 50% chance to win - but 50% * 50% * 50% * 50% means that an investor than makes several all in bets will lose eventually.

Go all in before the market reverses

In 2012, George Soros shorted the Japanese yen and profited one billion dollars.

In 2013, Soros moved to the Australian dollar market. The Australian central bank cut interest rates for the first time. When the AUD was at the highest point (1.06), Soros took a one billion dollar short position, and the AUD subsequently declined.

Go all in and catch the reversal point At the end of 2013, the China A-share market was coming to the reversal point after a long decline; after several rounds of volatility, finally there was a breakthrough:

Where is the next opportunity to go all in? Which market will have the next opportunity to go all in? U.S. stocks, A-shares, gold, and crude oil seem to lack of clear direction. But the monthly Bitcoin chart shows a very clear long downward trend:

On Huobi's USD trading platform BitYes.com you can borrow funds to do 3:1 margin trading for a low interest rate of only 0.01% per day. If you want more leverage, check out Huobi's Bitcoin futures trading platform BitVC.com, where you can trade with up to 20:1 leverage. While the direction of gold and the stock market may be uncertain, it could Bitcoin be near the bottom and ready for a reversal? If you want to go all in, trust Huobi.
