121  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ambivalent attitude to gambling on: June 23, 2023, 05:25:29 AM
I think there is unacceptable hostility towards gambling in many communities. In my country, which is Türkiye, gambling is sort of banned so there are no licensed Turk gambling websites. But sports betting is totally legal... And even under monopoly! When we talk with old people about gambling they directly shame it. But when it comes to sports people see it as "guess the result game". I think some people should come up and say gambling is supposed to be fun experience and its not dangerous if you do good budgeting.
Well, anything that can be harmful to most people is considered bad by a community and I don't see anything wrong in that, even though I'm not in favor of a ban because I believe everyone should have their own responsibility and it is injustice with those who know they have enough control over themselves that it won't harm them, I would still say that elderly are not wrong in shaming gambling because it is addictive and destructive too.

Some addictions harm you only, either physically or mentally, but gambling is a kind of addiction that can harm others around you as well. For example, if you are married and have a family and you become addicted to gambling, you will totally forget about your family and everything and you will be gambling away all your money and will even start selling things from your home only to get money to gamble, now that is wrong, and that is the reason why they shame it.
122  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Categories of Unrealistic Sports Betting Expectations on: June 22, 2023, 04:01:20 PM
Surely one of the unrealistic sports betting expectations is beating the house or the bookmakers.  Bettor will never beat the bookmaker because they have control over the process.  If the bookmaker sees the player winning continuously, they often limit this player from betting huge amounts.  We have seen several cases like this in this forum where players that are gaining advantage on thier bet are often blocked or limited.  This os one way of the sports book to keep them from bankruptcy.
Sometimes, the reason for sportsbooks limiting certain gamblers isn't because they don't want them to have an edge over them or make them bankrupt, but it is because they suspect that the gambler is cheating or something because if they get about 10 or some consecutive wins, they will surely suspect that something is surely wrong and that is how the gambler is constantly winning without a single loss.

But you are also right that some platforms, especially new ones which don't have a lot of reputation or gamblers, tend to limit player accounts so that they don't keep winning their bets or at least don't be able to bet over a specific amount only to reduce their winning amount for each bet.
123  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you find it offensive to be referred to as an addicted gambler? on: June 22, 2023, 03:31:00 PM
Many people find it difficult to accept who they are and the bad habits that they have, accepting a habit is the first step that will determine if any help offered to you will work. As a gambler, will you find it offensive if you are referred to as a gambling addict? will you easily accept it or try to give excuses like some other people do, saying that they are not addicted to gambling when the signs are clearly there. Do you think identifying as an addicted gambler will make people stereotype you. The answer is different for every gambler here.
I find it pretty offensive of course because at the first place, I am not really an addicted gambler but maybe I got the bad impression because every time my friends and relatives see/visit me in my house, I am playing gambling in front of my computer. They did not know that it was only just a co-incidence and my allocated play time in gambling is not that long.

As for my budget, it wasn't also huge enough. It's because I know that being an addicted to gambling is a very hard habit. It can also be hard to break once you are heavily attached to it, so it's better to just avoid it as much as we can and be aware about the signs so can apply a fix before the it gets worse.
124  Economy / Economics / Re: The impact of artificial intelligence, chat GPT on the crypto market. on: June 22, 2023, 02:19:00 PM
GPT-4 is designed to increase security in the crypto trading space, because currently there are very many crimes that occur, with GPT-4 all these problems will be easier to overcome, and for hackers and fraudsters this will be the biggest threat to them because GPT-4 will easily detect these problems, so we expect Coinbase Directors to immediately run GPT-4 because investors want a high level of security when investing  nor trade.
GPT-4 is a language model, how do you expect a language model to be used to tighten the security of a platform? I believe there needs to be different algorithms and models to be used for that purpose, GPT-4 can be great to be used as a customer support agent if trained according to the data available for the platform so that it can generate answers to questions asked by customers by searching based on the keywords provided.

If platforms such as exchanges and casinos and any other websites want to utilize AI for their security, they will probably need to hire developers so that they can create AI algorithms that will be used to provide better security to their customers.
125  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever felt remorse after gambling? on: June 22, 2023, 01:36:42 PM
Having no self-control put you in a greater risk of being a gambling addict. Though if you have no self-control, considering to stop is possible but if you had a thought of playing gambling again, a people with no self control will still play despite the promise you did for your self. Having no self control is one of the traits of an addict but it doesn't mean they are an addict right away. A massive loss is expected especially if you are really into gambling and I think it's normal given that even big gainers experienced the same thing on their gambling careers.
Big gainers don't actually let themselves lose the whole money they have gained because they understand how gambling works. Someone who has both self-control and gambling experience can greatly benefit from their wins, I know that winning and losing are all dependent on one's luck, but how one utilizes their wins and learns from their losses is the most important thing.

Those who have experience but no self-control might win something significant at a time but they won't be able to use those winnings and they will lose it at that exact time because of greed and thinking that they will make more from it and they eventually lose it all back to the house.
126  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why People Still Gamble? on: June 21, 2023, 03:16:59 PM
I think all gamblers will always be labeled bad by anyone, even by people in countries that are not pro with gambling, maybe because it's almost the average person who thinks that gamblers are lazy people and don't want to work, so they expect to get big money from gambling, even though they still many gamblers can still control themselves and even work too, just like me working and gambling on weekends, including routinely limiting gambling expenses.

It's true that almost 90% of gamblers are heavy addicts and lazy, but behind that there are people who gamble just looking for fun meaning having fun in gambling without aiming to win or multiplying money, the more the desire to win, the farther we will be playing so that they fall into curiosity and become addicts, addicts always expect that gambling can be their source of income. even though it can never be a steady source of income.
That tends to be the case most of the time when a smaller percentage of something that is good isn't counted when a larger percentage is bad, whether it's a cast, it's a thing, a nation, or anything in general. 10% good is a very small number to make something to be seen as a positive thing, so if 90% of gamblers are bad and lazy and don't work, the 10% that is good wouldn't make gamblers look good.

But to be honest, I believe that number is more than 10% because I know that there is a very large quantity of gamblers who are responsible and they take care of everything else and continue their gambling activities when they are free or have extra money.
127  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there play and pay later casinos? on: June 21, 2023, 02:38:30 PM
Indeed, they will not allow that to be easy though chances might be done if you are really having a good credit stand or you already develop good trust from the owner, though if offshore maybe yes but if online, where things is very different, trust thing is something that really hard to earn, especially if you are dealing with casinos, the facilitator would be more willing to continue without giving any special privileges to anyone as business will be protected to any kind of scamming activities from the users.
No matter how much an online casino trusts you, they will never give you a loan to gamble without getting any valid collateral from you because that will be against their business model and it can be threat to their business because a lot of people will start taking loans and default them and that will bankrupt the casino in no time and they would obviously never be ready to accept that.

That is why, if such a thing was possible, casinos would have already implemented it by now and if there is nothing like that available in online casinos, it simply means that this is not viable solution for them and it won't make them any profits at all.
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto Passive Income on: June 21, 2023, 01:54:54 PM
Have you ever had experience with earning passive crypto income? It's quite interesting subject but I need to be Sure where to put my money cuz there are many platforms that just bankrupt and users never get their money back

Would be grateful to hear your experience!
There is nothing like passive income in cryptocurrencies, if there is a person or a website that is telling you that you can earn passive income by investing a specific amount of money with them, you need to keep a fair distance from them because they are just trying to scam you and will run away with your money and you will regret it later. There are also a lot of websites that promise great returns on investments but they are all scams.

What you can do with cryptocurrencies to earn genuine profit is trading, you need to learn how to trade, how you can read charts and do analysis and then you should do trading yourself without having anyone else involved, that is the only way you may get profit but it also has its risks, you need to make sure you follow risk-management techniques as well.
129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: If I have 1BTC So how did I use to invest in different Coins on: June 21, 2023, 10:12:49 AM
I usually Invest a very small amount of bitcoin to another coin because I know this time is very crucial to invest in any new coin or even in an old coin.
Any suggestion from your side which is good for long term
Just a piece of advice based on my experience before;
At some time in the future, there may be the time you will regret your decision about converting some of your Bitcoins to some altcoins. Why? Because not all altcoins are good, some are only hype, so be careful.
I experienced this before when I am new in cryptocurrency, Bitcoin is the most cryptocurrency I have before, and during that time, as what newbies do, they are attracted on some altcoins some are because of hype, so I tend to convert my Bitcoins to random altcoins and ended getting rekt while Bitcoin is not.
It obviously requires research and analysis before someone invests in an altcoin, especially if they are going to convert their Bitcoins into another altcoin which is already something very risky since we all know that Bitcoin is the safest of them all when it comes to price plunges. So one should be very careful about the altcoin that they choose to invest in because altcoins are generally not to be held for a very long term.

If a trader thinks that they are not being able to find a good coin to invest in and are uncertain, they should simply let their funds stay in Bitcoin and keep it for the long term, Bitcoin never disappoints if it isn't sold quickly because history says that Bitcoin recovers its price eventually.
130  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: June 21, 2023, 05:42:23 AM
Chelsea and Newcastle will be the teams I expect the most movement in this transfer period. Chelsea signed Nkunku and added a strong player to their squad. One player who had a great time in the Bundesliga is Nkunku. I am sure that he will adapt to the Premier League and achieve success there as well. Of course, when it comes to striker, it goes without saying that Haaland is the best.
I also just saw about the confirmation of a player named Nkunku from the official twitter @ChelseaFC. And I also hope that there will be many changes to the Chelsea team next season because Chelsea itself has also assigned a new coach for Chelsea players besides continuing to move to find new players who are more talented. This is done by Chelsea just to be able to boost their performance in the next season so they don't fall behind as before in the Premier League.
After serious mess-up in last season now things looking improved with many players which were bought by Chelsea on high price have better way to go into Saudi League which is giving them good salary and Chelsea is also having good return of their money which was looking completely down with this all hopefully new coach and few new players can do better right now we already have 6 or 8 players are already completed their transfer things which is good change for the new start in coming season.

Nkunku is surely currently the best player but how he will perform here is never been easy to predict because we already have many top ranked players fail to give their best in past but now hopefully after having changes Chelsea will be at their best again.
131  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you lose on slots? on: June 20, 2023, 04:31:29 PM
Take any result calmly, dont be greedy when you are on winning time (stop at the right time) and dont be over thinking when you are on losing.

To me the right time to stop is either of these two cases:

1. I see that I've lost more money than I could easily afford to lose. Just a bit more, and I stop.

2. If I win a good amount, more than 50x of my bet, I stop for the day, right away.
That's the right strategy, stop when you are either constantly losing or have won something significant. I suppose by 'bet' you mean your betting bankroll, right? 50x is a lot for me, I would even stop if I hit 10x or 15x of the bankroll I'm using for gambling at that specific time and come back with the same amount that I was using initially to try my luck again and have some fun.

I'm a kind of a gambler who wouldn't gamble away everything after winning something, and I don't add my winnings to my next bankroll only to make it bigger. For example, if I usually gamble with $50, and if I one about $200 on top of that, I wouldn't have $250 as my initial bankroll in the next session, I will keep $200 and have $50 and if that is lost, I stop right there.
132  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice when you are going a bit far in gaming and betting on: June 20, 2023, 03:52:10 PM
The advice I got to get rid of gambling was to stop myself from gambling after losing a bet. But when a gambler becomes completely addicted to gambling, he has to abstain for some time. Many people become emotional after gambling loss, in which case it is necessary to discuss with his friends or other people. But he can make a good decision within certain limits. So a gambler must be well advised when placing bets first. And after setting a budget he has to bet and if he bets according to that budget he won't lose much if he gambles.
Only a gambler who is responsible and controlled can have a set budget for their gambling activities and will follow it, a gambler who is addicted might decide such a thing but they can barely be able to follow it because of the urge to gamble even more when the budget is already spent will never let them just leave the casino and come back later, their mind will compel them to deposit more and try and recover the money lost.

And in most cases, gamblers can't recover anything but instead, lose more money, and then they either leave more disappointed or deposit more if they have until the money runs out, they will still not feel calm but they won't have any other choice but to leave.
133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The psychology of betting..... on: June 20, 2023, 03:22:23 PM
Your view of gambling as chilled-out leisure paints an alluring picture but not without risks. Things get messy when the initial excitement of risk-taking turns into a fixation. Saying that only a few gamblers can stay in control is a big understatement. Many studies reveal that most people can't recognize when they've shifted from a good time to an addiction. Their brains link the thrill of the gamble with happiness, complicating quitting. Though gambling for fun with self-restraint seems feasible, it overlooks the potential destruction of addiction. It's essential to highlight that for many, gambling isn't a simple toss-up between enjoyment and gain. It's a psychological trap causing deep financial and emotional issues.
Very well said, that's how human psychology is, we start doing something only to have some fun for only a small period of time, but as time goes on, we start increasing that time instead of leaving that thing, and when we keep going and increasing the time or the resources we spend in case of gambling it is money, we don't really realize what we are getting ourselves into until a time comes where we have already reached so far that it is almost impossible for us to return.

The same thing happens when we start gambling, we don't want to get addicted or gamble for addiction, and most of us might just gamble for fun initially, but as we get deeper into it, we start increasing our stakes, the money that we spend later will be way higher than what we have started with, and slowly, we get addicted to gambling.
134  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers understood the game on: June 20, 2023, 06:25:33 AM
And I guess there it is the difference between the gambling addict and the profitable gambler. The profitable one sets limitations for their maximum losses and their limit wins. They understood the game in a way that they accept that not everyday is a winning day. It is not trying your own luck but CREATING your own LUCK. And when you have those days, you push it, you bet more. When there are days that your predictions are likely to be wrong, then the main focus is to preserve the capital.
Well, there is a marked difference between the two so we can choose which one we prefer. But many people will want to be a profitable gambler but it's not easy because they don't know when their luck will come. But how can we create our own luck when we cannot always win at gambling and we have also seen many people who have experienced loss. It's better for us not to force ourselves to create luck because luck only comes to the right person and at the right time.
I think it's pretty obvious that all we choose to be a profitable gambler over the addicted gambler. Many are successful with it but they never expected that winning in gambling can turn them into addicts because they are greedy to earn some more. As a result, the money that they win will just lose and they will also lose their personal money and everything (jewelries, appliances, house, friends and families).

This is the reason why never wants to become an addicted gambler. So before we dream of being a profitable gambler, we should think about the consequences first. Some just prevent being a gambler because like they say, prevention is better than cure.
135  Economy / Speculation / Re: The low support level may still be tested during 2023. on: June 20, 2023, 04:25:53 AM
Bitcoin can hit prices below $20k again but hopefully, people won't be shocked and panicked, especially since the price is now dropping again. The test for Bitcoin may be even tougher than before because if the decline persists, some people may not be ready to see it.

And market conditions are now more difficult to predict and coupled with the government tightening the movement of crypto, it can limit the movement of crypto and get people in trouble.

We must be aware of the current situation and prepare a budget to buy Bitcoin at low prices so that we can use this moment to accumulate more Bitcoins. And don't panic if we see the price drop and hold on to Bitcoin and buy it again because that is a good opportunity to buy again.
If the dump unexpectedly occurs like tomorrow let say, then people are going to be shocked because they believe that the price is getting stable and is continuing to the bullish state but Don't worry because being shocked is only just an impression. They can still think normally and will probably hold on or buy more coins.

The natural market conditions were supposed to be easy to predict, if only there are no news that can unexpectedly occur. Each bitcoiners are fully aware about the situation of BTC. Maybe some will start buying now that the price is still lower than last time or some will choose to hold for a while and will wait for better opportunities to come.
136  Economy / Gambling / Re: is KYC data on Gambling sites safe? on: June 19, 2023, 04:33:10 PM
Decentralized casinos, which operate on blockchain technology, sometimes offer an alternative to traditional casinos by providing more anonymity and removing the need for KYC but obviously they are not entirely foolproof either. As with any online activity, there are inherent risks so using the reputate sites, checking in the forum... those are required.
Generally decentralized casinos do ask for KYC data. If the need arises such as for big withdrawal or if they are suspecting any un usual activities then they ask for KYC. You cannot guarantee that your data is secure in a reputed casino. Data leaks may happen and sometimes they might not delete your data after closure of your account. There is risk but if you are gambling you are always at a risk. I do not think KYC data can be such a big issue for a gambler.
Decentralized platforms are not regulated, registered or licensed, so there hasn't been any instance so far where a decentralized casino asked its gamblers to complete KYC verification because the money that is being bet on games isn't going to them and then coming back to the gamblers because everything is done on-chain through smart contracts, so they don't need to check anything at all and that is what they do.

Though authorities have signaled that they might start regulating decentralized platforms too in the future, and if that happens and they are forced to register themselves and operate under a license, they will surely ask gamblers for KYC verification after that.
137  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Categories of Unrealistic Sports Betting Expectations on: June 18, 2023, 04:21:10 PM
The first category is composed of sports bettors with a $1000 bankroll who hope to make $100,000 by the end of the year. In what universe do they think this is possible? Such expectations are unrealistic and only occur in the lottery, not in sports betting. Even in sports betting, it would be a chance occurrence, happening only once in every 100 bets. A more realistic expectation would be to aim for increasing their bankroll.

The second category consists of individuals seeking guaranteed wins and fixed bets or matches. These individuals are frequently seen on platforms such as Twitter, Telegram, Discord, and others where sports betting is discussed. They are often the first to express their desire for guaranteed games and fixed matches/bets, believing they will surely win. Unfortunately, these individuals are easily scammed due to scammers taking advantage of their gullibility.

What other categories of unrealistic sports betting expectations have you encountered?
Actually, the first one is possible but only if someone has god-level accuracy where they won't get a single loss and they keep placing bets with everything they manage to win from their last match, but that is very unlikely to happen because one can basically keep winning all their bets until they reach $100,000 from just $1,000, so though it is possible but the probabilities of it happening are very low.

Those who go after guaranteed wins are mostly going to lose because there is basically no guaranteed win in sports betting as anything can happen and sometimes, even the favorite team loses against the team that is always losing and isn't performing so well at that particular period.
138  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: June 18, 2023, 10:20:18 AM
~snip~

Now that's all done and Mbappe isn't going anywhere either and what Madrid have to do is still have to find a really good striker this time around because a substitute for Benzema with just Brahim Diaz won't be enough.
I got news in the local media. Real Madrid are interested in Joselu, he is a Spanish forward. Despite being 33 years old, maybe he can be a short-term solution, before Madrid get another attacker. He is not bad, in the 2022/2023 season, Joselu is able to score 17 goals from 38 games in all competitions with Espanyol. Madrid seem to have reached a personal agreement with the player Joselu. Although this is just a rumor.
33 years old Spanish and Espanyol striker who score winner against Italy in semifinal of the Nations Cup now Real Madrid player on loan with buying option available but most chances Real Madrid will not buy him at this age, and he will stay here on loan after having reduction in his salary as well all announcements will be on media in coming days, but all is settled already about this deal. But still Real Madrid journey for the another striker is going on because they want to do all concerns fix before start of the next season as losing Karim Benzema which was main star and match winner for them but now suddenly he leaves club for the Saudi League.

This is right now third signing for the Real Madrid with they are still had few more players under their radar for this season as now competition is tough.
139  Economy / Economics / Re: Getting an MBA before starting a company or directly starting a company? on: June 17, 2023, 03:00:15 PM
I don't think we should have to discredit the current education/college system as a whole or to even generalize it. Some educational background truly helps them to build the foundation of the theoretical subject, on another hand, I do apprehend there might be some subjects that did not fulfil the students' needs in a work environment.

Having an MBA degree is absolutely not a prerequisite to starting a business. A prominent figure like Musk is also widely known to discourage that degree. In the end, business success involves many variables and factors, and the owner's degree is surely not significant in most scenarios.
It actually depends on every individual and their mindset whether a degree will be needed for them or not for running a certain business no matter what the business is. Some people actually learn the things necessary to run a business from their elders who are already running businesses and these kinds of people don't need a degree to run a business successfully because they already know the rules and regulations.

There are some people who know nothing about how things work and how a business can be run if they don't get formal education about it, such people will surely need to get a certain degree to be able to run a business successfully as they lack the basic abilities to do that.

Quote from: Velvet78
If we don't see Mbappe joining Real Madrid this summer then I wonder who they will bring to the centre-forward position in the starting lineup. Maybe they have Rodrygo as well but he isn't actually a striker. The best formula would be to create a new trio in the attacking line with Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and a striker that they can transfer soon.
.
Real Madrid have many potential strikers they wish to sign into the team this season, but the amount of money involve to sign all those players is too high but the management will try their possible best to sign one of them to fill the position of Karim Benzema. If Real Madrid miss mbappe in this summer they will not miss  Harry Kane because those two players carry potential skills which Real Madrid will benefit from in the future, if they can use any amount of money to bring one of them into the team. I believe Real Madrid have some players they can put on sale to get this money to sign talented players that will make the team function well next season and more season to come.
Currently, there are only two best possible targets for the Real Madrid with they are looking for the Mbappé but in case of having no positive signal they will go for the Harry Kane which is also currently refused by Tottenham management even in coming days we will have the good number of strikers available in market but Real Madrid mean best in business which is never been easy.

Carlos Ancelotti also have Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison in this radar as well but no green signal for these both as after exit of Karim Benzema situation is not good in the Real Madrid camp even they have few young talented players in their squad, but they are not going to take any chance which create problems for them after end of transfer window.
