121  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Using miner to speed up core sync? on: September 20, 2015, 11:31:21 PM
ASIC miners are not going to help you at all with speeding up the syncing of your client. It has more to do with the size of the blockchain and the amount of bandwidth required to download the whole chain. You may want to use the bootstrap.dat file to speed up the download rate.

With core .11, this won't work, it syncs as fast as a torrent would download it full speed.
It has to do with the processing and filing of every block that there is, the CPU limits this.
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum problems on: September 20, 2015, 06:24:17 PM
I gave up trying to mine Ether.
Too much of a hassle and it doesn't seem to work on Windows/Non-linux systems. Easiest way currently to acquire Ether is to buy it from an exchange, mining is just too undeveloped currently to get an easy start. The Eth wallet system won't install either, I was left with geth as I'm sure you have been too, I just bought myself $10 worth of Ether and am holding it for better days.
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: JackINaPump - trading info on: September 20, 2015, 06:20:51 PM
I don't get it, why would you HELP other people get money when you can just use your info for yourself?
Also, isn't this against the (U.S) law? Inside trading or something like that? We'll just have to see.
124  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Have now entered the lottery! on: September 20, 2015, 06:18:45 PM
Ckpool is the best choice, they are safe to mine with.
Most other solo pools end up giving you quite large fees, sneaky buggers they are.
Question; why don't you just mine on your node instead of shuffling around solo pools? I'd say that it's much better than letting some unknown pool handle your 25 BTC so should you mine it. (Not including CKpool, ck always pays out)
125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for devs to help me build an exchange. 2 Max. for now on: September 20, 2015, 06:11:36 PM
Building an exchange isn't a small 2 man job.
Even if you got two trusted members to code an exchange, you have to make it unique and it has to do much more than the others for it to be a viable place to trade.
Cryptsy is my go to, has all that I need.
Just keep in mind that building an exchange is an extreme job to undertake.
126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 9 Bitcoin Accepting Cam Girl Websites on: September 20, 2015, 06:06:58 PM
Oh great...
The question is why would you pay a girl to take her clothes off, while there is thousands of questionally better free videos uploaded to the magical interwebz every hour...
127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Russia to start bitruble - will be first government sponsered cryptocurrency on: September 20, 2015, 10:54:22 AM
The question is with the current regime and the way Russia has previously worked, will they ban all other cryptos for BitRuble to be a competitor? Not many altcoins have succeeded, I can think of litecoin and that was only $4 a coin.
Russia may succeed in this, no government has readily funded creation/development of a coin, so if they put their full force behind BitRuble, have it backed with some sort of material, this could succeed amazingly. I'll sure as hell jump the wagon onto a securely funded coin of any kind.
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LGBTQoin (LGBTQ) [X11 - Pure PoW] on: September 20, 2015, 10:38:06 AM
The network difficulty has raised!
I'm mining on gcpool with a 750Ti and getting ~1.5Mh/s and 100 coins a day!
Good stuff, keep on developing LGBTQoin!
129  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: slush Error in Device monitoring and Offline workers on: September 19, 2015, 02:02:28 PM
Yes, it's correct.
1.7 Mh/s is so small that it doesn't even register on the thing.
You won't make money mining bitcoin, you're wasting electricity power.
Buy a block erupter, it's roughly 333 times better than your computer. For the price of $5.
130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The PSU holy grail? on: September 19, 2015, 11:38:48 AM
It's hella strong, but it can't power an S7, Bitmain has a 1600W PSU on the market, I know at least a few companies with 2000W PSUs but I think this PSU, being available on coolermaster's main website (making it more easily accessible to every day miners) will push GPU mining further in development!
131  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 2 x Antminer S3's / USA Only / $75 ea incl. shipping on: September 19, 2015, 11:23:58 AM
Still selling? I'm interested PM me please.
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is a 2Gh/s ASIC good? on: September 19, 2015, 10:51:05 AM
Well, if you are talking about a SCRYPT 2Gh/s USB miner, that is impossible with current tech...
You must be talking about a block erupter, somewhere around the yellow jacket range.
You can't mine litecoin (SCRYPT Algorithm) with a bitcoin (SHA-256 Algorithm) block erupter.
Zeusminer is a trustworthy ASIC-miner selling website, https://zeusminer.com/ I suggest you take a look over there for a current gen ASIC miner.
133  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What do you think about this miner? on: September 19, 2015, 10:44:38 AM
It's mining bitcoin's algo on BTCguild, so it can only mine SHA-256, so therefor no altcoin such as litecoin mining... Not to mention that Antminer U3 will do the same thing speed wise and it's a known product, I haven't heard of this machine. It won't make back ROI any time soon, it's too slow (~60GH/s) to make much money these days, pretty much only a few cents a day.

TL;DR
Too slow to make money back, not well known product, wouldn't buy it personally.
134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Realistically does bitcoin have any competition ? on: September 19, 2015, 10:13:34 AM
Everyone is recommending Monero and Ethereum, Monero being ~0.50 US cents while Ethereum being ~0.80 US cents.
I think everyone is forgetting Litecoin. 2 USD per coin. Monero and Ethereum both have potential, but litecoin is much more per coin than both Eth and Monero.
135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Photon coin on: September 19, 2015, 09:54:25 AM
^^^
Coin's name is already used/you've stolen it, you won't opensource the client, you have practically not put any real information about the coin into this post and you want to whitelist your own community.

Not to mention that this is in the wrong topic and does not have the correct parameters, e.g. "[ANN] Photon coin"

This is just a waste of everyone's time.
136  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: should i subscribe signature campaign in newbie account? on: September 19, 2015, 09:28:02 AM
^^^
You are a newbie, it isn't worth it to join a signature campaign. Go drink faucets for satoshi and you will earn more.
Not to mention that the quality of your posts, as the members above me stated, is quite frankly, garbage.
137  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: When updating bitcoin core do i need to redownload blockchain? on: September 18, 2015, 08:56:56 PM
Short answer, as long as you don't MANUALLY delete any files, then just run the new core setup (0.11.0?) and you will only have to download the blocks you missed since you shut down the previous core version. So no, you don't need to redownload the chain.
138  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: CharityChip Micro-Investments Seeking Donators + Supporters on: September 18, 2015, 08:54:15 PM
I'll be happy to invest a bit, but how the heck does this 20% interest work? Isn't that a bit much?
139  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Pet Project, Antminer U3 on: September 18, 2015, 08:44:40 PM
So I got a Antminer U3 and have been toying around with it.
Sure it doesn't make any ROI, but now for the question! What mining difficulty should I set it to? (Slush's pool)
I have it (currently) at 64, I've tried 512 and 256, but the hash rate on the dashboard/monitor has jumped very erratically.

Thanks for any input!

-Griffeh

A big question on this is are you wanting to mine where you are getting something in return PPS/other types of pools?  Or are you wanting to use it as a lotto miner?

I have some U3's as a lotto setup as I know they will not ROI.  I have them trying to solo a block.  Chances are it will never happen... but still a fun project.

I'm testing it out, learning all the settings that make it hum and buzz at full speed. I'm doing 244MhZ 800mV and it does a flat 60.0 Gh/s safely, once I iron out all the problems, I'll set it up on the magic lotto train to try and get 25 BTC in the sack, you never know! It's just sitting on my desk on some styrofoam. I do have some problems with it wanting brains every few days, just have to reconnect the bugger and it mines away perfectly.  Grin
