@bpovtmg Mind if I step in? (I already did actually, yesterday)
These three invoices have the same NodeID: 02004c625d622245606a1ea2c1c69cfb4516b703b47945a3647713c05fe4aaeb1c
I've also paid one of the invoices.

Never tried LN before... Am I doing it correctly?

If anyone knows 'Wallet of Satoshi', does it use a single NodeID for all of the user's wallet?

For newbies, please enclose your invoice inside

tags so the forum wont format it with spaces.

Thanks for your help! You think it's the same guy using different accounts?
122  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A Beginner's guideline to Bitcoin Lightning Network on: September 14, 2020, 11:59:46 PM
Guys,

The LN is a great re-invention and a smart try of bringing back micropayments into the Bitcoin world that faded away when the transfer fees had risen significantly.

I really like this technology and actually I dropped from the btc world about 3 years ago when micropayments became expensive, in 2020  I decided to take another look to see what's going on and discovered the LN.

To get you started, please check out this thread to get your 200 satoshis to play around with the LN bitcoins:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5275451.0

For some more fun, visit my Telegram channel where we occasionally play a simple Lightning Dice doing small quick and easy bets (100-1000 satoshis depending on the mood) via LN:
https://web.telegram.org/#/im?p=g407859681

You will see how easy and simple you can send and receive a couple of $$ via the LN.

Word of Caution: For the start, install one of the easiest custodial wallets like Wallet of Satoshi or Blue Wallet. Leave more advance stuff for the future.

GO LIGHTNING GO !!
123  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Get Your First 200 Satoshis for the Bitcoin Lightning Network! on: September 14, 2020, 08:40:44 PM
Also checkout a simple faucet giving you 100 LN satoshis:

https://lnpay.co/t/27bad6/web

You need to have a Lightning Wallet installed and configured.

To avoid initial configuration issues, I would advise to start easy with custodial wallets like Blue Wallet or Wallet of Satoshi.

You will be able to migrate to Electrum later (I didn't because Wallet of Satoshi is fully OK for my micro- and mini-payments via LN).

Hi, nice stuff!

You accept Bitcoin Lightning ?
131  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Start Using the BitCoin Lightning Network! on: September 14, 2020, 09:41:35 AM
<snip>
Good thing that there are feautures you have just been discovered OP to.give funds even when the receiving party is offline. This has been observed by the developer after seeing the feature that could not be likely as user friendly as it could be like other bitcoin wallets. Anyway, I am starting to like the bitcoin lightning network and probably this could be the future of bitcoin transfer in the future or one of the best choice for bitcoin transfer.

Especially, for micro- and minipayments! Lightning is quick and cheap.

Just for fun, I am hosting a Live Lightning Dice for people to try Lightning micropayments (bet=100 sats) (disclaimer: it's a non-profit project, i run it for promoting Lightning ):

http://tawk.to/bpovtmg

For the new Lightning users, first 200 sats are free from me to play around with Receiving/Sending Lightning payments.

My first Lightning Payment Request for 200 satoshis Smiley
Eh, payment failure on my side (Wallet of Satoshi). Will try Blue Wallet in a moment.

EDIT: Blue Wallet fails too. If you installed Electrum, please try either Wallet of Satoshi or Blue wallet. They technically much easier.

I managed to pay this invoice using Electrum just now:

Maybe he's offline when you tried to send him funds (both tries), he didn't have inbound capacity at that moment or both wallet's channels doesn't route quite well.

BIG THANKS for that.

In any way, I found a good workaround if the receiving part could be offline. You just send a Lightning gift (www.lightning.gifts) and the receiving party can redeem it when they want.
133  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Perfect Money safe to store big money or not ? on: September 13, 2020, 10:04:57 PM
It is too dangerous to put significant amounts of your money into quasi-banks like Perfect Money.

Think in % of your wealth, not in absolute $$. If $50000 is just 0.001% of your assets, then you can store it wherever you see fit. If you lose it, it is not a life disaster.

But if it is a 90% of your total assets, then you MUST diversify:

- Cash (USD normally, properly secured and stored)
- Deposits in a Reliable Bank
- Government or other AAA bonds (US government treasury bonds etc)
- Gold (maybe)
- Bitcoins (maybe)

You may keep some money at those providers like Perfect Money just for tactical reasons like fastness of sending fiat into a BTC exchange etc.

Hi, Guys!

If you do not know it yet, the Bitcoin Lightning Network (LN) is a cool new technology for quick and cheap micropayments.

If you didn't try it yet, you can do it in a very funny way.

1) Go to my Telegram Channel:

https://t.me/joinchat/SE9pUBhPceH6ZyFn6cZTig

2) Throw a Dice with me (i tell you how, there is a pinned message there)

3) If you win, you get 100 sats into your Lightning-enabled wallet (Wallet of Satoshi, Blue wallet etc)

4) If you lose, well, you owe nothing  :-)

Eh, payment failure on my side (Wallet of Satoshi). Will try Blue Wallet in a moment.

Keep in mind that both of you need to have your wallets open when you are trying to send a payment. It is not possible to receive and route Lightning Network payments while being offline.

Thanks, didn't know that.

There is a good workaround using Lightning Gifts (www.lightning.gifts).
139  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Start Using the BitCoin Lightning Network! on: September 13, 2020, 03:44:26 PM
A good overview of that technology is here:
https://cointelegraph.com/explained/lightning-network-explained

I just learnt about it after reading up on it. Seems very interesting. I don't have any coins to open up a channel. Which I understand is needed for the transaction fee(right?). But as soon as I have some coins available. I'll give it a shot after reading up more about it. One question though. The coins received through LN are not spendable, is that correct? Until the channel closes??

Start easy.

Don't overwhelm yourself too much with details, channels etc.

Download one of easiest wallets (Blue Wallet, Wallet of Satoshi) and post a payment request for 200 sats here .

It will work.

The coins in LN are spendable if the counterpart accepts them, if not you can use them as normal btc (onchain).
