121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happened to fees? on: December 27, 2017, 11:05:56 PM
Still nobody knows the answer to my third question? I will repeat it here:

is it not even possible in the Electrum version 2.8.3 to send a transaction with an own chosen amount of fees? I now cannot enter fees manually but have to scroll a bar to the left or right to decide minimum/average/high fees. How can I choose the fees amount myself in this Electrum version please?
122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happened to fees? on: December 27, 2017, 10:51:53 PM
Hello,

I've always been told that the fees per transaction have nothing to do with the amount of BTC you send. However, when I enter 1 mBTC as amount I have clearly lower fees in my Electrum wallet (when I set the fees at minimum) than when I for example enter 100 mBTC. And when I enter 1BTC it's again higher, and at 2BTC again higher and so on.
So apparently fees DO depend on the amount. Is this new? People have always told me it has nothing to do with amount.

And my second question is, why are fees so incredibly high at the moment? Even when I set my fees to minumum in Electrum I have to pay around 3.5mBTC in fees when I want to send 1.8 BTC. That is 50 euro! It's crazy! And when I want to send 1mBTC I have to pay a minimum fee of 1.3 mBTC! That is more thant the amount I send in that case!

And the last question: is it not even possible in the Electrum version 2.8.3 to send a transaction with an own amount of fees? I now cannot enter fees manually but have to scroll a bar to the left or right to decide minimum/average/high fees. How can I choose the fees amount myself in this Electrum version please?

Depend on the merchant, some are fixed and some are in %, the one in % is the most greedy one.

With merchant you mean Electrum or the one I am sending the bitcoins to? In this case GDAX....which one you mean?

The high fees caused by high network transaction will go down once bitcoin prize are stabilized.

People have been telling this now for weeks. But the fees have stayed very high for weeks/months now. And to be quite honest, I don't think fees will ever go back to let's say 0.5 mBTC  for a 2 BTC transaction. It will only get worse in my opinion.
124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happened to fees? on: December 27, 2017, 10:49:59 PM
when we talk about the fee. this raises many questions!
* Why are fees so expensive?
* why the transaction is stuck?

yes that's what is often asked and it's back to us, is it reasonable with a high fee when the current btc price? I do not think it's a problem

The whole point of bitcoin was quick processing and (almost) free transactions. Right now, the way it is that you have to pay even more fees than a bank would charge you and if you don't pay those fees your transaction will take over 1 week!

126  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Do receiving addresses keep on rotating or are they never re-used? on: December 18, 2017, 10:24:51 PM
Remember that those receiving addresses are ALWAYS still good if someone happens to send you coins to one of those addresses again.  Electrum will use them once and move to the next one just to help you remain "private".  There is no security risk at all to using any address multiple times.  Privacy may be impacted if an address gets used repeatedly, but it doesn't mean anyone can get to your coins in any way.  That is the logic behind the software!

Thanks! Good explanation!
127  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Do receiving addresses keep on rotating or are they never re-used? on: December 17, 2017, 11:52:47 PM
No, new ones will be generated when one is used.

Ah okay so this list of 16 addresses will never have an earlier used address back in it?
128  Bitcoin / Electrum / Do receiving addresses keep on rotating or are they never re-used? on: December 17, 2017, 05:26:04 AM
My question is this:

I have an Electrum wallet and I have a list of 16 receiving addresses. I think everyone has that obviously. But my question is, are these 16 the same forever? Whenever there is a new receiving address appearing in my Electrum then will it just be one of those 16 always (in turn one by one and after that get back to the first one and start the row all over)?

Or are these 16 continually new never used before addresses and did I just not notice that they were different each time?

Betcoin, may I ask: why did you lower the max stake from 500 chips at the start of your sportsbook to 200 chips last week and now 100 chips from today on? Is this for all customers or just for me? And if it is for all customers, why lower the max stake so many times? Is this just to be careful because you have a Beta product and will this max stake be increased when your Beta stage is over? I was just so happy that I found a good sportsbook with many betting options and games and with decent limits, but it gets worse and worse unfortunately.

Can anyone in this topic please tell me if they also get the error message in red color saying "max stake is 100" when you enter an amount of 99999 in the stake field (not actually needing to place the bet but just to test it out)?

I would like to give thumbs up to Betcoin for not begin childish. They gave me back my 500mBTC stake for a live wager that was not shown as accepted by the system (received an error message in red saying the odds are not available when trying to place the bet) but was still deducted from my balance. They were honest and swift to credit back my stake. Although I was in my right, I was still fearing they could just say everything was fine and I would have no proof. But thumbs up for your honesty Betcoin!
131  Economy / Gambling / Re: Cloudbet.com - CASINO SCAM DO NOT PLAY on: November 30, 2017, 07:30:51 PM
I gambled on Cloudbet for about a year.  No problem sports gambling and received timely payouts.

BUT the CASINO is a SCAM.  Don't play there, they have no 800 number to talk with anyone.  Live help simply denies any wrongdoing.  In short I played video poker dueces wild a number of times and no problems.  One day they graded a couple of hands losses when they were winners so I went to live help to complain.  I was told the computer says the hands were losses and they cannot credit me without a screenshot or video evidence.

So I started playing the same game and video recording my hands.  I hit a 4 of a kind 2 7's and 2 dueces wild and should've been credited 12 x my wager.  Instead they graded me a loss, I went to live help and explained what happened again and they said computer shows your hand was a loss.  Then I sent them video proof and they determined 2 days later computer graded my loss correctly regardless of my video proof.

If I could attach my video I would.

PLEASE DO NOT PLAY at CLOUDBET they are scammers and I"m going to try my best to shut them down.

Post it on Youtube please and post the Youtube URL of the video here.

I do have the email with them saying they received the deposit. It never has been credited to my account. So they are basically keeping it. They say the never recieved it even though i got the email from them saying they did.  https://imgur.com/a/leGqf

Looks pretty clear to me that your deposit just doesn't have enough confirmation yet. Maybe you entered a low fee and then it can easily take days before it gets confirmations.
Just wait and it will arrive at some point.

Any update on the promotion and the decimal odds implementation?
134  Economy / Gambling / Re: BETCOIN.AG on: November 28, 2017, 02:49:53 AM
Relax man, you must have made a mistake.

They are trustable. My BTC deposits always get credited way faster than in Cloudbet! I must admit I never use Ethereum but Betcoin are trustable for sure.

136  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How can I generate a new address? on: November 21, 2017, 11:51:39 PM
I see it. But how do I choose any of them? I see the list, but there is no button to select them. I can get the cursus on them an click on them, but then still in the receiving tab the old address is listed. How can I select any of the addresses in the list?
Right click any address and select "Copy Address" or just select the one you want and press Ctrl + C.

So just to be sure: I can copy and paste any of the addresses in the list under the tab "used" ?
And then if I give that address to the person sending me the coins, it will arrive with me?
Yes and Yes. You can use them as many times as you want.

So for this it does not have to appear first int he  "receive" tab? Because I just cannot find out how to drag an address from the list to the receive tab
It doesn't have to. The receive tab will only show you a new address after every transaction to help you not reuse your addresses. But all addresses can be reused as many times as you want and there is no problems on doing that. You can either use the address found in the "receive" tab or any other from the list whenever you want.

Thanks, excellent explanation!

Just copy an address, and give it a label: "used for site X".
It's safe to reuse addresses, but not recommended for privacy.

Go to View -> View Addresses. You should see a Address tab show in your Electrum wallet. Go there to see every address that you own and just choose any of them.

139  Bitcoin / Electrum / How can I generate a new address? on: November 21, 2017, 02:44:25 PM
Hi,

There was a problem with a transaction which a processor said they could not send me. They said for security reasons I have to request it again with a new address.
But I do not see anywhere how I can change my receiving address.....can somebody tell me how I can change this in Electrum version 2.9.3 ?
140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any particular reason why the fees on transactions are so high right now? on: November 16, 2017, 04:40:26 AM
bitcoin cash had a lower difficulty which meant it was easier to mine it but because of the lower price nobody did. but they started pumping bitcoin cash that meant it became more and more profitable to mine it at a lower difficulty and since bitcoin and bitcoin cash are alike in mining, miners switched to temporarily miner BCH and make the big profit.

when hashrate leaves like this, blocks are being found with a delay. less blocks, less transactions being mined in total every day, more transactions in the mempool and finally higher (increasing) fees.

but ever since the pump of BCH ended and price of it  started falling the hashrate also came back and now things are going back to normal. but it takes time for the negative effects to fade away completely.

Thanks guys for the detailed explanation.

In how many days do you think the fees are back to reasonable (with that I mean, back to what they were a few weeks ago)?
