121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Official] Cryptsy Coin Poll on: October 13, 2013, 11:39:50 PM
I'm in favor of more sha256 coins represented. JouleCoin got my vote, but I almost went with BountyCoin (not even sure it was on the list).

More sha256, please!

Joulecoin, TekCoin and IncaKoin are not represented by any exchange at the moment. You could take advantage of the bounties as well as being the first to list.

ASC and ZET are both on coinex.

Ah. I thought I had posted about my own site accepting DVC, could have just been a PM to someone. Meh. I'm on furlough. Feeling blue. Not worth the fuss right this second.

Thanks for the info though.

The crypto world just keeps getting better. I was buying at Amagimetals, but I like this option since it promotes the use of DVC (even though it's just from me to igetspots.com).

Perhaps they are reinvesting by paying the coin forward into other market place concepts.

And who ever writes about buying something there with devcoins would also receive a bounty? Or are the bounties for that over?

They're still available.

Bought my first one ounce silver dollar with DVC from igotspots.com

Woohoo! And I bought it on today's bump! And...there's a DVC bonus for purchasing the Silver Eagle?

You can't beat it.

It's off and on for me. Kind of strange.

No, mine is good.

Looks like it.

There is supposedly some clever elliptic curve math trick that can be used to generate vanity addresses without knowing the private key, I think.

But one might not be able to do it using the "vanitygen" program.

It is probably related to the methods used for the extended deterministic wallet system that lets you not only generate new addresses for customers but, farther than that, give a customer a number/code from which that customer can generate new addresses, of yours, to send payments to, whenever they like, with your wallet still being able to recognise the payment is to you, and maybe also to know which customer that (series of) address(es) was given to.

So basically from a private key you generate some special elliptic magic thing, that you give to the vanity site, it generates addresses all day and night on and on until it finds one that is vain enough for you.

So maybe no need to give up the basic concept, you just need to do it in a "secure" way.

OK. Thank you. I'm fragile, so please excuse my earlier outburst. This post I can relate with more easily. Will do more research.

ranlo,

Thanks for the response. Even though it seemed like a good idea for creating another form of marketing the DVC brand, I understand there is no way to guarantee security to the recipient of the private key.

I had been using and reading comments about Armory's passphrase protection on the keys. And then after messing with the git for bringing those keys into DVC, I got excited about doing more.

I appreciate the tone of your response for not attacking my personal integrity.

I guess not. Thanks for pointing out my ignorance with such disdain. Sorry.

It's not a scam. How can I get past your passcode?

I don't even know you. You don't know me. I think I'm a pretty trustworthy person around here and on Devtome. It's for Devtome people only anyway.

So don't put too much on it. It's a way to promote. Sheesh. Just trying to help. Scammer tag...you're a prick.

I thought it was a great idea. unthinkingbit or someone else had a git on importing the BTC addy into the DVC client. I was successful once, but it was kind of confusing to me.

I can run user names too, but the longer they are, the greater mining time it takes to find the key pair. I get 1.2 m/key/s, so it's pretty decent. I have "mcxFEE" and "MtGox" and a few others just sitting here.

By the way, I have 4 DVC vanity addresses if anyone wants them. Free for Devtome users.

PM me and I'll send your private key. Make sure you add a passphrase after importing it to make sure I'm locked out.

Tell me which one you want and I'll edit this entry. I can do others as a way to promote DVC. Just ask.

Nice Ahmed. Give me about a week to set up and I'll send some ghash your way.

Thanks for the promotion, smeagol!

I don't want to start a fight. Smiley

I just want to help. I love the idea of minting and working with metal. I'm also a huge fan of alts for metals.

If you actually want to work with metal, maybe we can start in 2 places at once, and you buy what you can, while I buy what we can. And we sell our stuff under one "brand".

Sounds good to me. One of the places I buy even had an offer to mint custom coins for $1400 including dies. Provident Metals or Copper Cave or something. Now I forget the details...

Smashwords is a site where people submit their works for free. It's formatted and then distributed to all the major ebook outlets (Apple, GBooks, Amazon, etc.). We could, with community support, format some of the Devtome entries into Kindle or PDF and post them for sale on each entries page.

I added DVC to my (very limited) ebook offers at www.7thcav.us.

Would love to do a Smashwords for DVC. Or even formatted Devtome entries for DVC and give a portion back to the contributor.
