Solo mine when a coin first comes out usually - when the coin difficulty is generally under 1.0.  (Usually in the 0.xxx range, preferably in the 0.0xxx range)

If you solo mine, you keep the entire block (in Riddick terms: You keep what you kill)

In prop pools, you get a proportion of any block found by the pool proportional to your hash rate versus the total hash rate of the pool.

In pplns pools, you get paid based on the last number of shares submitted by you, shares are submitted essentially proportionally based on your hash rate, and usually have a cap to make it a little more fair so that the big fish in the pond don't get all the credit, but they still get more credit than the little fishies since they rack up shares a lot faster.

So yes, in pools you will share that 77KDC per block with everybody in the pool so some extent.

Hey OP - I just noticed the klondikecoin.com website was never updated to reflect the difficulty retarget change.  Might want to update that.

Changing the coin supply will negatively impact the coin.  Seriously people - part of the strength of KDC is its parameters.  Its LIMITED parameters.  It's seriously undervalued right now, and it's surprisingly easy to mine.  The only reason prices aren't higher and its difficulty is so low is because it doesn't have more publicity.

Not that I'm advocating it, but if it were on a major exchange (Cryptsy, Coinex, Vircurex), it would take about 48 hours before mining difficulty shot up to about 400 and the average trading price would probably be around 0.0005.  Why?  Because KDC isn't on any exchange with a public API, meaning it doesn't show up on sites like Coinwarz, Coinchoose, etc.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing it dip under 0.0001 again... so I can buy a ton.

That's right, as of this post we broke the 10MH/s barrier on the pool and account for over 1% of the current network hash rate!  Oh what a difference a day makes!

Thanks to anybody and everybody that's been throwing hashes at us.  People have come and gone, most haven't stuck around because they see a tiny hash rate and say "eh, ain't gonna get squat here."  Just like the days of the Klondike gold rush... this is what prospecting is all about!  It's hard to fight CoinArmy's 40%+ of the nethash... but we're gonna do it.

We'll keep going until there's no more gold left.  And then we'll find more!

It's hard to get blocks when you're just a ripple in a sea of MH/s.  We're still patiently waiting to find our first block.  The more miners we get, the faster it will come.

I'm also in the process of updating the cron jobs to make sure they're scheduled properly.

It means they control the blockchain with that much hashrate at their disposal.  They hypothetically could cause transactions to not be accepted/doublespent/etc due to 51%.  It's extremely unlikely unless they do something explicitly malicious, but it's one of those "not good to have all your eggs in one basket" things.

Doesn't bother me... just means it's more likely that we'll end up finding our first block sooner rather than later at PoolMineWith.Us

CoinArmy currently sits at 55% of the total network hash rate for KDC.
Cryptofountain sits at 28%.
Put together, they control 83% of the KlondikeCoin hash rate.

We won't hate.  Klondike support is always good.

I agree.  Part of the "success" of KDC is that it's sort of a grassroots underground coin.  Remember LTC's history... nobody really cared about it back in the day, and nobody really "promoted" it either.  Just let KDC do what it's doing, otherwise it will become the target of pump and dump scammers and just end up joining the long and growing list of crapcoins that are already out there.

KDC has the metrics to stand on its own.  Just let it be.

Thank you for the words.  I've had a bunch of server space sitting idle for the past several months trying to figure out what to do with it.  When I got around to mining KDC after the rest of the other crappy altcoins had already flamed out, I decided "Hey, KDC is for real."  Just wish I had more time back when KDC was fresh to help it grow legs back then.  Instead, now I'm just running "another pool".
