If you could understand all I've written why haven't you written it?

If you can understand English, why haven't you written the complete works of Shakespeare and Chaucer? Nice try, mongo.

It's funny watching everybody fight while the Titanic sinks.

The titanic isn't a good analogy. This is more like a 12' aluminum fishing boat sinking in the middle of a lake while the two drunk hillbillies in it wrestle each other over the last beer, both drowning in the process.

...you want to help, but you can't stop laughing long enough to catch your breath and swim out there.

Lastly, Maged, that was some shitty moderation.

If you don't mind go to Taiwan, there might be some possibilities to find a marine biology related job. I'll be glad to asking / inquiring for you.

I would sell my soul to work on the water in Taiwan. Please do let me know if you hear of anything.

Any suggestions for what products people can buy to use as a defense to protect themselves from such contaminants?
Any suggestions which manufacturers of those products are not directly or indirectly affiliated with those responsible for contaminating water sources and anxiously awaiting for mass business from others as a response to this desire/need to protect themselves?

It's called an RO unit. It isn't high tech, and they have been around for decades, available from hundreds of companies.

Seriously now...fluoridation conspiracies? Any idea why the modern dentist is mostly cosmetic and our teeth don't fall out at age fifty anymore?

Lemme guess...someone just read Naked Lunch for the first time...

Become an English teacher in east asia! You have a degree; you're set. Lack of language experience is preferred. They'll treat you good, board you near other expats, and you don't have to be in it for the long-run.

I am trying to avoid teaching english, but if it's the only way I can get out of here, I am happy to do it. I need to find a place off the beaten path though. I would rather not be surrounded by expats. I am not above bathing in a river and sleeping on the ground...I have done if for months in the past. My only real concern is paying my goddamn student loans and taking my dog with if at all possible, so salary doesn't have to be big.

Fellow bitcoiners;

I don't often seek advice from the intertubes, but I figure with such an eclectic mix of people here, it's worth a shot.

I have been running a successful aquarium service that I started when I graduated from college with a degree in marine biology for a number of years, but with the shitty economy, things have gotten progressively harder to eke out a living, and I am wholly burnt on running a small business.

To top that off, I have now been crashed into four times in the last 18 months, the first being a drunk driver that fucked up my back and left me with no feeling in my right hand, and the last two being this past week. I do not want to be in Los Angeles for a minute longer.

I guess I am sort of hitting mid-life crisis at 27... I want to get the hell out of the US for a bit (or forever). I lived in Panama for a year and a half, learned a ton of spanish and loved it, but bumming around hostels and drinking like a fish is not what I am going for this time around.

Anyone have any tips on finding a job -preferably in biology or marine biology- overseas or in central or south america? I'd even freeze my ass off in canada...I just need to change it up. Thanks in advance.

1208  Economy / Goods / Re: Greenlandic tupilaks (and other traditional arctic crafts and knives) on: October 10, 2011, 11:59:51 PM
I don't recommend commanding the tupilak to "eat me!" ... but just to be on the safe side, I'll do a bit more research. Smiley

I was just cracking a joke about the end of the story. I ended up reading a bunch of the folk-lore on that site. It's friggin' awesome, but sort of difficult to keep track of due to the crazy names.
1209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to grow up. on: October 10, 2011, 10:00:07 PM

Trust me, Tenebrix will NEVER get attacked by a botnet because its creators are the only ones with botnets here and they won't attack their new "baby". I am 100% sure of this. Why did Failbrix get attacked and not Tenecrapix ? There you go.

Are you bitrebel?

Alright, you need to stop this BS about me being somebody else. Me being CH. Me being Darth Vader etc.

I am my own person and I have no connection with anybody else on this forum or other forums. 100% no connection with anyone. No CH. No RS. No bitrebel etc.

Just stop it because it really is getting annoying. I am not a SC troll, I just see that it really is much more usable than Bitcoin. Some of you on here seem to think that Bitcoin is the end all, be all of cryptocurrencies.

Think whatever you like. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. You need to stop trolling SC and let it be. Why so much hate towards SC ? Why so much hate towards CH / RS ? Bizarre really. Maybe you are feeling the competition and don't like competing ? Who knows. The establishment / gov. is the enemy, not CH / RS / SC etc.

Are you sure you're not bitrebel?

1211  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [800 GH/s 0% fee SMPPS] ArsBitcoin mining pool! Come join us! on: October 10, 2011, 04:28:29 PM
Ok ya'll. BT has got the entire pool down to .57% stales because of his work to get poolserverj up and running on both servers. If nothing else, put your donation % at your normal rate + the % he is saving you on stales by getting the new server technology up and running!

And obviously that couldn't be done without shadders writing PoolServerJ to begin with.

Therefore, I propose the following.

The last full UTC day (October 3rd), 2.85 BTC were donated on ArsBitcoin.  This is about what it costs to run ArsBitcoin on a daily basis (perhaps a tiny bit less) with the current exchange rates and server setup.

Any donations over 2.85 BTC per day, through Oct 7th (UTC) will be sent to shadders to help support his PoolServerJ efforts.

So, that is about 3.5 days to increase your donations and help him out!

As an example, lets say Oct 4th ends and the total donations come out to be 3.5 BTC.  That means I would send 3.5 - 2.85 =  0.65 BTC to shadders for the day, along with the excess for the next 3 days as well.

Oh, and October 8th is my birthday.  Just saying... Wink you could increase your donations that day too or something Tongue

Alright, so not great results for Shadders, most likely because no one knew about this Wink

"2.7467903676281";"2011-10-04"
"2.850080288336016";"2011-10-03"

This results in only 0.59 BTC, heh.  So... I will send off a 5.59 BTC donation to shadders so that he at least gets something.

On more positive notes, check out the last few days!  Barcode (l1l1l1l1l1l1l1l1l1ll1111l1l11 or whatever Tongue) has been donating at 20% (maybe more, but I was away most of the weekend.)  He is now the top donor on the charts! https://arsbitcoin.com/statsDonate.php

Thanks!

Damn, I never even saw that message. Now I feel all bad. Happy Birthday! Better late than never, right?
1212  Economy / Goods / Re: Greenlandic tupilaks (and other traditional arctic crafts and knives) on: October 10, 2011, 06:04:36 AM

1213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to grow up. on: October 09, 2011, 10:47:19 PM
All altchains seen so far (except namecoin) should have no valuation, based on any rational economic analysis.
I don't want to start a pointless flamewar, but could you plese answer my question:

What does "rational economic analysis" say about the existence of the city of Las Vegas,Nevada,USA?

1) The City of Lost Wages should be a small, dusty hamlet.
2) There's more than one definition of "rational".
3) Something else, please explain.

Thank you very much.

People with excess income use it for entertainment? Las Vegas does not refute rational economics. Shit, look at bitcoin; everyone wants to get rich without working for it.

1215  Economy / Goods / Re: Virtron is a scammer, How to stop scammers on this site? on: October 09, 2011, 06:43:36 PM
Wow, this experience has been educational that is for sure. Thank you all.

I understand how the raped girl who speaks up feels.  She says something, everyone else say, it was her fault.

I got fucked over, I told people to watch out. I got many thank yous in PMs when I told people he was a scammer.

I still don't see why a rating system is such a bad idea. But okay, you all win... Next time I see a scammer I will not tell anyone.

Good luck and clearly don't be an idiot!

No, rape is a violent crime. The fact that you compare yourself to a rape victim makes me want to smash your head in like a rotten cantaloupe, you fuckwit.

I hope you die of AIDS after being pounded like a side of beef by some 400lb gangster.

Seriously....you are a gaping asshole with a piece of shit dangling from it.
1216  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trading torrent invites/premium accounts/currency exchange allowed? on: October 09, 2011, 07:53:52 AM
I do not believe that you can reload prepaid credit cards without providing contact info. If you are talking about accepting credit cards for bitcoin, you're gonna get raped. Read up a bit more on this forum. Chargebacks are your enemy.

But it seems like it is basically a free for all where anything goes. Hell, even the scammers don't get banned.
1217  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Not a troll. on: October 09, 2011, 06:52:36 AM
So how long will it take for Bitcoin to hit $1.
How long you think it will stay at or below one dollar?

What about an option saying it wont?

But it will it's inescapable

Why would it be "inescapable"?

o come on don't be a fool. it going to bottom out soon. Nothing can stop that now. and it will stay at or below $1 for years to come.

you should probably apply your ability to predict the future in some real markets. I bet you could get rich.
1218  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: October 09, 2011, 03:09:23 AM
Well first off Danny is a fags name, most people call me Daniel others just plain sir.

My name is Lanny. Does that make me gay? If so, you wanna go out next weekend?

If that was a Chris Lilley joke that went over my head, fuck you, you aussie bastards.
1219  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin7.com 'hacked'. Database and wallets 'stolen' on: October 08, 2011, 12:53:44 AM
How to get rich off of Bitcoin in 4 easy steps:

1. Set up an exchange with timing that coincides with a large amount of distrust in your competition and desperation for alternatives. Name it something reminiscent of the hit 1970's British sci-fi show, Blake's 7 and the 1960 film, The Magnificent Seven.

2. Convince people of your legitimacy by pointing to other businesses you might run and/or by soliciting endorsements.

3. Set up a pyramid referral scheme and have people spam their referral codes all over.

4. "Apologize" for the referral spam and do some half-assed rectification, but only after this advertising for your exchange has thoroughly saturated the market.

5. Wait until your exchange wallets seem to have reached their maximum and then plateaued.

6. Have someone you know "hack" the website and steal the money. Politely sidestep the huge security issue of having all the money in wallets that are internet-accessible (Any exchange should only need like 10% of funds in a readily-available wallet).

7. Say, "Oh no we've been hacked. Welp, we're going out of business. We'll give you whatever money we have left, if we feel like it or are legally forced too somehow. Good luck with recovering your funds legally, suckers, as we're in Slovakia or some shit."

8. Move around the "stolen" BTC a bunch of times, then sell it on another exchange. Wait a minute, actually do that a few steps back, so you can exchange the BTC before your announcement lowers the exchange rate or other exchanges catch on and start looking for suspicious exchanges.

9. High fives all around. Hooker and blow. Pancakes and whipped cream. Ice cream fights. Getting serviced so often by high-price prostitutes that you actually say, for the first time in your life, the uncanny phrase, "Man, I'm really getting tired of all these blowjobs."

10. Buy a zeppelin, a top hat, a gold cane, a pocket watch, a monocle, and a rare, purebred yappy dog named "Captain Flufflebunny III". Travel the world. Use the words "orient," "dark continent," "savages," and "colonies" when speaking of your travels.

11. Moon base.

I lied about how many steps this would take. Lying is very advantageous in getting rich off of this scheme.

I am pretty sure you just plagiarized chapters 8-11 of my autobiography, "Bitcoin; how I rode the backs of poor nerds into space". It's coming out mid-november, just in time for the Christmas season...buy one for the wifey and four for the kids in case they wreck one or two. Prepay with btc only. 8-12 weeks for delivery.
