1l1l11ll1l's fancy shiz

How do the liquid cooled temps compare to the standard vapor pipe cooled ones?

Those Huge CoolerMaster i30's do a better job of cooling the ASICs, but the H60's are perfectly adequate. The Issue isn't the water block, it's the tiny radiator, either needs bigger fans, or bigger radiator to equal the cooling of the i30's, but yeah, i30's are rated for 320W cooling an ASIC that pushes just 150W

The main reason behind the design is that the days of huge footprint mining are over for me, I need to keep things compact and efficient, can't spread across half a dozen tables anymore!

Was just curious.....
actually, I was thinking of offering 2BTC for any unwanted upgrade cards out there....  plus shipping....
but looking at that...I'd probably get laughed at.....

<-- Looking for upgrade cards for a Mercury.. lol

Yeah, I keep an eye on the ebay circuit. Did you see the November units which were going for $27-$34k today? Hahaha!

Talk about quick turnaround.
Yeah! That's so crazy!
I'd like to choke the life out of those scalpers.... !  (just kidding)

the problem with ebay and their protection plan esp with paypal is that they could just mine for 45 days and then do  a credit card chargeback and send the unit back and ebay/paypal would go with it...and if you did not do paypal there is still the ebay buyer protection plan...which if ebay said pay them you said no...then you are banned ebay account for life...so I've been told by those who did this stuff with Avalon etc in the past.....not sure how true it is...but I guess it is possible

just grabbing things around the home & yard....running stable 59 degrees even with the low profile heatsink

Please please tell me you have something soft under that board? There's a whole lot of teeny tiny components on the bottom that I can't imagine would like stone!

dude is just 'selling his book'  as in modern terms that means 'digging for page hits'

You could be right there...
I didnt plug my site in the OP and when I did mention it, I didnt link it...

Anyway, I will be posting the information I get from Hashfast when they finally send it.

There is not much to review at the moment, which is a shame as I am sure if more pics and info are released by Hashfast that they might actually take in more orders... However thats not the case and is why we still rank them low on our miner charts.

All we can guestimate is that they will be running 3 chips as this picture shows a 3 rad setup with 3 waterblocks. It doesnt mean much at the moment, so I do agree its still a guessing game with Hashfast. The cooling does look like an old version of a coolermaster self contained unit. The newer coolermaster units have smoother hoses now.

My prototype actually hashes ;-)

And I'd like to present to you the custom Jupiter+2piter

As you no doubt noticed, the Jupiter has spots for 4 units, however with the sale of upgrade modules, our choice was to get a new mounting case by flying to Sweden, or to improvise. So in the spirit of bitcoin hackery, I present to you my creation.

Corsair H60 for each of the new boards, boards have spacers so they're back to back, the VRMs get excellent air flow, while the LCS is definitely capable to keeping the temps under control.

Enjoy!

Maybe I should send some of my mockups to Hashfast ;-)

Anyone use a 10-pin connector directly on the PSU: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/19648/ele-1163/FrozenCPU_ConnectRight_10-Pin_Female_PSU_Power_Connector_-_Corsair_Seasonic_-_Black.html

I can't find it in the UK or Europe Sad And the usual 6 pin PCI-E does not fit.
Any ideas?

I have the 24pin version of that, plugged right into the end of the 24 pin cable for my KnCs. works very very well, no problems yet.

Here's an interesting tidbit for you: Jumping right at the power supply works on some PSUs, however not all. It worked fine on the terrible Corsair RM850, however on the AX860 and the Seasonic 860 (same psu) it absolutely will not work, however jumping it at the end of the 24pin cable works fine. I notice there are multiple wires coming from teh PSU side that then double up on the 24Pin end, I didn't bother looking into it further or tracking the ones that needed bridging, I just deal with the ATX cable and jump it at the end.

Well, I've got 5 modules running now and I'm getting about 660GH/s. Adding only 110GH/s to my old 550GH/s seemed slow, so I used bertmod and see that I've got the dreaded Die 0 issue! I'm running firmware 0.98.1 and blocked the airflow to raise the temp without success (reached 80 degrees C before I lost my nerve and started the fan again).

Are there any other tricks before I decide to RMA it? My 2nd module arrives tomorrow and I'm hoping for better luck.

It's not the ASIC that needs to get hot, it's the VRMs. I know this cause I used the water cooling to test it. I had no fan on the radiator, and a fan blowing on the VMRs, the temp never raised and the die never came back on. Switch to a fan cooling the radiator and no fan on the VRMs, the temp shot up and the dead die came alive.

Here's my all-in-one Jupiter+2

Dude, that is bad ass.  What coolers did you buy?

EDIT:  Also, well done r1senfa17h

The Corsair H60. They are both the H60, however there's 2 different models. The model with the ribbed hose, the other one's pump melted, the bearings went out and the bloody pump melted.

Then I just fastened the included fans to the radiators through the case, this gives a nice solid mount, and moves the heat out okay.
I did have to remove the angled aluminum fins that are (were) mounted to the lid.

The placement is also ideal, as the VRMs get plenty of airflow. Please note I'm using substantially upgraded front fans (D14SH-12).

The pumps gain their power from the fan connector on the module, while the front and rear fans are connected to Molex power.

What's the general recommendation for running the "enable all cores" patch? Is it wise to run if a Jupiter is running average / just below average hash speeds? Any glitches encountered?

If you ar on fw 0.99, then no! Enable cores is inside the cgkncminer!

Here is an unofficial photo from bitcoinorama i reveived it at this moment:

January Batch!!!!

Why waste charcoal, I'll just set these atop my Avalon units.

You think KnC is reliable?
We are in the market for an asic soon.

I'm reliably hashing away on their hardware at this moment, however they are completely sold out.

Actually I sat in a room one Saturday with General Electric's Critical Power Specialist who flew in specifically to address the issue, i'd wager he knows what he's talking about and the HX has fried components at a with a statistically significant reason for concern according to other posts on the internet. It's not solely limited to KnC boards.

Let me get this straight. A GE engineer claimed the problem wasn't caused by GE hardware, but by some other company's product? Do you see why people would question the results of this "test"? How about you fly in a Corsair engineer and get his opinion?

Because Corsair don't have any "engineers" they don't make their own PSU's they get other companies to make them. So perhaps Channel Well who make the Corsair HX850 Gold, couldn't/wouldn't send an engineer over to a small company who aren't their customer in the first place?

Come on guys, as I said before Bitcoinorama is just the conduit of information back and forth, as he said don't shoot the messenger.

Bitcoinorama, on the other hand, don't take it personally if people question the process, just pass the information back to the team and then wait for more feedback. Don't bite back, or even worse feed trolls.

It's so the Corsair Engineers can ensure the Corsair logo is straight.

+1

Because the Corsair engineers designed and built the HX line...  Roll Eyes

I think the question was rhetorical...

Silly you, you totally could have had it for 6BTC.

What do you do to get your upgrade modules cooled when they have no place to mount?

Moar pictures:

Are these yours?

Yup, it's just from my Saturn, my upgrade modules are stuck in Delivery Exception like everyone else. I figured I'd do the R&D now instead of having a bunch of modules waiting for me to figure out how to do it.

Very interesting.  So the 4 holes around the ASIC do correspond with either Intel or AMD mounting holes.  I wonder why in that case KNC ended up using their custom "metal bar" adapter and attaching it to the 2 holes at the ends of the board.

That I have indeed wondered as well.
1217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 18, 2013, 09:16:32 PM
It's interesting, I couldn't use the mounting hardware, as the spacers were too tall, and the block wouldn't touch. So I simply used some longer screws (same thread as your cd-rom uses) and then used the pegs from the back plate of the heatsink. It's an Intel fit, I think the LGA1156, but not sure, as the heatsink as a slider area for the mounting holes. I then used the corsair mounting hardware to connect the 2 boards.

Here another interesting thing, the higher temp issue has nothing to do with how hot the ASIC is, I cool the asics fully with fans on the radiators, and point a fan to the boards, if I take the fan off the boards, the temperature rises and the die #0 issue goes away.

Real question is are they going to ship on-time or not...

It's a sad day when the warranty becomes shorter than the shipping delay.

Oh wait, BFL already did that with their 1 year warranty!
