1201  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Escrow service on: August 26, 2015, 07:13:59 PM
How long does it takes for a free escrow service to be settled? The third party will hold the funds and account, payment of method will be paypal.
paypal is an easily reversible payment method, so unless you agree to have the trade take 180 days such that the paypal funds no longer become reversible, you should find another form of payment. generally though, a simple deal for a digital item can take minutes if good communication is practiced by all 3 parties:
Escrow service can be settled quickly if both the parties are fluent and stay in touch with escrow. SebastianJu is the best escrow here btw.
I would say "best" is subjective, but to each their own.

im going to assume that you are purchasing an account of some sort (likely a forum account) using paypal; i would suggest somehow turning that paypal money into bitcoin first to ensure the funds are safefor the other party, but that may be hard to do as people will not deal with newbies and paypal. the fees are high but virwox may be a possibility.
1202  Economy / Lending / Re: Need loan .024 Btc repay .03 on: August 26, 2015, 01:26:00 PM
I can fund this loan too. If you really want this loan. Please submit your account details to any trusted escrow and as soon as I got the confirmation from escrow, I will fund the loan in no time.
why do you have the money to lend out when you were asking for a loan quite recently? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1162155.msg12244553#new

It is just a 0.05 btc I got from my signature campaign payout. It is my personal spending . Offcourse. This week , I thought if I can loan someone and earn some interest.

Is it wrong to do this ?
nothing wrong, just thought it looked odd is all.
1203  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how do i set up bit coin core wallet on: August 26, 2015, 01:03:30 PM
Are you sure that you'd want to run bitcoin core as your main wallet? I mean, it's great for supporting the network if you want to run a full node but not that easy to use as a hotwallet. Maybe try a lightweight wallet like multibit or hive?
you should point out why he might want to use a light wallet; bitcoin core requires that you have the full blockchain downloaded, which i believe is well over 30 GB at this point. in addition, the core client is rather resource intensive, or it was last time i ran it. if youre looking to use bitcoin just for daily spends or keeping a few bucks on there,a light wallet might be better for you as they only require you have the client downloaded, and your wallet will sync with servers that have the whole blockchain downloaded. in addition to the two wallets linked above, electrum is a fantastic light wallet as well, and has cold storage capabilities built in.

The size of the blockchain is nearing 40 Gb. And I'll agree that it's resource intensive, even without the port open it leeches a significant amount of bandwidth to establish connections. Syncing the blockchain might take days even in good connections. And it's also not very easy to use. No ideal for newbies for sure. Your transactions might get stuck in limbo if you don't use fee settings right, menus and features are confusing etc.

i want to add that Multibit charges extra fees (they are small but still) for every one of your transactions. so in fact it is not a free wallet. i myself am using Electrum. i find it way better.
that is only multibitHD, the earlier versions of multibit do not have this fee, which if you ask me, is pretty negligible. iirc its an additional 1000 satoshi to every transaction that goes directly to the developers, which is more than deserved considering the work they do and put into maintaining the wallet. if you download the earlier versions of multibit (0.5.18 or before), those versions do not have the fee included. no need to be stingy over a fraction of a penny.

1206  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying first Bitcoin in 2015, still extremely frustrating.. on: August 26, 2015, 10:23:49 AM
Sadly, even now, if you want to easily, quickly buy some btc, you need to pay a lofty middleman fee

or spend time going through verification processes to minimize that.

If you're fine with that, there are many choices though

i.e. ATM, Localbitcoin
the currency exchange section on the forum is also a place that you can buy bitcoin. however, there are restrictions on what is accepted there, especially for newbie members who are just getting into bitcoin. members will only deal with newbies if the payment method they offer is irreversible in every sense of the word (OKPay, western union after money is picked up).

should a newbie choose to accept those conditions and pay fees associated with the trade, they wont even have to go through a verification process as an exchange such as coinbase or circle might require you to. however, people over there arent too keen on dealing with newbies, so it might be hard to even find a seller. however, if going first with a trusted seller, there wouldnt be any escrow fees involved, and there are plenty of free escrow services should the user want to use escrow for the deal.
1207  Economy / Lending / Re: I need a loan 0.7 bicoins on: August 26, 2015, 10:12:33 AM
Yes, I am offering my websites. Especially one site alone, which has made $64 this month so far and $230 in the last 3 months. I have put lots of money and effort into making this site, so you can be sure I will pay back the loan Smiley
you should list the sites you own here then, and give the relevant statistics for each site that will help to determine their value to the lender (traffic, charts of income per day/week/month, alexa ratings, etc). you should also be aware that you will have to hand your collateral to an escrow service prior to receiving the funds for your loan to guarantee that the lender can take possession of the collateral should you default on the loan.

also, be aware that the collateral value should be greater than the value of the loan.
1208  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTCjam - Any Thoughts or Experiances on: August 26, 2015, 03:42:54 AM
If BTC Jam stops giving loans without collateral or rather give with collateral then its value is nowhere ..
majority of the people are using it because of no collateral deal.

So basically its a hell hole for investors wanting to lend.

I saw someones screep on what they actually got and barely breaking even, I`ll link it here if I run into it again.

But having no collateral is just gambling..
pretty much, since youre relying solely on the borrower's honestly to have the loan repaid at this point, and when money  is a factor on the internet, honesty is rather scarce. i also checked back on my btcjam account a bit back, and to my surprise, a 0.02  loan got repaid, which i really did not expect. turns out the borrower got doxxed. its quite sad that thats what it takes for someone to repay a few hundred dollars.

collateral sounds like something that would vastly improve the lenders' experience on btcjam, if they could implement an option for a borrower to provide some sort of collateral, and set up a system to hold such collateral, i could see btcjam becoming a real service. would be quite difficult though, since i would expect most collateral to be physical.
1209  Economy / Lending / Re: Why are Altcoins Accepted as Collateral? on: August 26, 2015, 01:09:30 AM
If the altcoin loses value, he simply does not repay the loan. Have people attempted to do this in the past? I would imagine if this did happen that loaners would no longer accept altcoins.
this point is why the lenders who accept altcoins only choose to accept stable altcoins as collateral, and ask that at least 115%+ of the loan value is given as collateral. a loaner who doesnt really know better is vulnerable to being scammed this way i would imagine. i dont often see altcoins used as collateral on here though, at least not nearly as often as forum accounts are used.
1210  Economy / Services / Re: Need help to Set up a Dice script. on: August 26, 2015, 12:54:24 AM
I could setup the script.

What does it use? a API or bitcoind?

How much are you paying to setup it?

I ran a dice site in the past before.

API,

ow much would you want or a job like this ?
when you say api, first thing that comes to my mind is moneypot, am i right? if so, i can direct you to a trusted member that runs a moneypot app and can help you set this up.
1211  Other / Off-topic / Re: How old are you? on: August 26, 2015, 12:36:40 AM
Hi guys. If you wouldn't mind, may I know if how old are you now? Thanks Grin

Old enough to know not to give personal information to strangers on a public forum Smiley

+1

This is a forum where you have to keep personal info secret. I wouldn't even tell anybody on here my first name. For the OP - I am between 18 & 95 years old Wink. I am a human male or female.
Well said, but it's still quite hard to keep your identity a complete secret on this forum :-/
not too hard if you give out no information whatsoever that could possibly link you back to your real identity, but given a case like yours, where you do trades with paypal, bank transfer, whatever else, it can get a tad difficult to say the least.
1212  Economy / Services / Re: DiceBits Signature Campaign - Provably Fair Game on: August 26, 2015, 12:30:48 AM
Signature should be altered to say 3000-satoshi faucet, not 300.
fixed my sig, seeing as im the only one that was accepted to the campaign. i find it odd though, i thought people would be jumping on this given the no post count restriction on this campaign.

There are advantage and disadvantage for being strict....
Since Vortex20000 is chat moderator, im wondering why he isn't enrolled into  this campaign
if vortex is just a chat moderator i dont see why he would be obligated to join the campaign. he's free to do what he chooses.

a bit tired, sorry my op was shit lol.

i have a website which is up and running.

i need help to put the dice script on it.
can i assume that the dice script is in php?

i think so Smiley (99% sure)
loads of free information available on the internet, you shouldnt need anyone else to help you if the script is working and secure. it wouldnt hurt to start learning some coding in case you need to apply some fixes in the future and dont want to pay someone. youre going to need to download some libraries onto the vps though.

Hello, i have a dice script. and a up and runing website. i was woundering if anyone could help me with it ?
how much would you like to get paid ? there shoulden't be much of coding since the scripts and everything around it is already done
im assuming you only have the script on hand as you dont mention anything else in the op, next step would be to get a domain name purchased as well as a vps to host your website. theres plenty of guides available and you could do this all by yourself if you dedicate an hour to looking up how to set everything up.
1217  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling on: August 25, 2015, 09:59:58 PM
Some Bitcoin casinos have really good Blackjack software where you can split up to 3 times, double on any hand, and have early surrender. Although you cannot win every time, I find that you can have some really good Blackjack runs if you limit to a small profit at a time. This in my opinion is the best way to avoid the variance factor after a considerable amount of hands.
These advanced features are not for you to win more. It is for you to feel comfortable and bet more money, because you THINK that you can win more with more control over your game.
That is totally untrue. You can win at some point, you can win big, but you can win all the time. In the end as you probably know - house will be the winner. Unless, you have some incredible luck.
this is entirely true, there is no reason for a casino to give you a way to win or even a slight edge to win because it will not benefit them; even the rakeback programs some casinos offer are there to encourage you to gamble more, they will in no way guarantee that you will come out ahead. just take a loom at betterbets' program; i believe it was something like .2% of your bets back at a certain amount wagered; in a perfect world, you would still be expected to lose out given a house edge of 1%.
1218  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] CLOUDMINR on: August 25, 2015, 03:51:54 PM
why is this thread going on still ?? just to discuss how people got scmmed and share the sorrows or what ?
there was no sence on believing those 90 % discount schemes.

People just want to get their money back and teach these scammers a lesson. We've had enough with this nonsense. But still, there's no way to identify them so all attempts of prosecuting them will fail. The authorities won't give a shit. That's one of the problems of Bitcoin: there's no regulation. So that means that due to the decentralized nature of the crypto currency, there's no way that government to get involved in (which is a good and a bad thing) Anyways, as I've stated before, you should never invest in such services. They will turn scams sooner and later. Also, scam sites always come up with the same f*****g excuse: "We've been hacked!" Remember Hashprofit?  Smiley
unfortunately, thats pretty true, just take a look at this one that claims to have been scammed by a partner, and is now asking for 20 btc to "save the project." https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1067965.msg12229800#msg12229800
however, if the service can provide enough proof that the legitimacy of their operation is undeniable, then it might not be that bad of an idea to invest, if youre ok with an ROI that could take months.
1219  Economy / Economics / Re: Low BTC price is good for Bitcoins at the moment. on: August 25, 2015, 05:17:48 AM
it seems to me if the price of bitcoin continues to decline instead will reduce the interest to bitcoin  Huh

Yes slowly price is touching 200 mark and it may continue to fall and may even touch 150 mark Huh. No good news for bitcoins  Wink

stahp with the panic bro. stahp. people lose their mind over the price of btc, take it easy mate, its just investment, it will bounce back for you. Didn't hear people complain when btc went to a thousand dollars, now that its a little low, everybody is losing their minds. Btc has gone down and sprung up at twice the rate, so why panic when you can invest in more crypto ventures with more equity and low investment Wink
i think the panic can be attributed (partially) to the XT vs Core debate doing on right now, which is causing a lot of FUD about "the death of bitcoin" and whatnot. yes, its true that bitcoin has sprung back up, and will likely do so again, but the addition of this debate adds the uncertainty that XT may take over everything. but yeah, the panic doesnt really help anything, best to just wait and see what happens.
1220  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling on: August 25, 2015, 05:08:25 AM
By dice do you mean bitcoin dice games (which aren't dice but just have dice graphics) or do you mean craps (which is a real dice game)?

Craps is by far the best game out there!

And the best part is that craps have the lowest house edge (0.60% according to this source) -> http://www.fastodds.com/game_odds/
I would say craps is more of a table top game, and with dice games (high/low), the house edge can be adjusted to anything. 1% is just a standard the market has settled on as what is generally accepted by the players. i believe there is a dice site with a 0.1% house edge or something right now as well.

Yeah I agree with you, with hi/low you can really control the house edge (and the corresponding reward), which is different from any casino game.

But it's not really dice. It's just a number selection. I used to play hi/low with my family and it involved a deck of cards. In fact, aren't the hi/low dice games (for bitcoin) not even based off the numbers on dice? It's not run off 1-6 (or 1-12 with two dice), right?
most of the dice games that are advertised on the gambling section do not resemble a dice roll at all, the "rolls" from those games can have up to 10000 values (0 to 99.99 inclusive). i believe its jjust callled "dice" because the term would describe it as a game of pure chance (assuming the game is provably fair) with nothing to complicate the game.
