1201  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading on your own vs social trading and copy trading on: October 05, 2023, 02:57:51 PM
What options does one have to view trading ideas/signals from other professional traders?
The place where you are getting this data, is there is a guarantee that the stuff posted is legit and real? Cooked up signals are no sweat. Getting misled by those fake signals is also easy and many wannabe traders end up falling for that trap.

If you ask me, copy trading is a scam, from my perspective and so is any signal group. I trust myself and I would always trade based on my knowledge and prediction. For that I might have to work a bit on fundamentals and technicals and a bit of luck but end of the day if I lose money, I would know whom to blame and that is better than trusting some weirdo on the net with their pipe dreams.
1202  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Lady Cried After Losing to Sports Bet. Gambling is Not Your Mate. on: October 05, 2023, 02:54:37 PM
I think the objective behind making this is to gain public attention and sympathy in order to milk money out of the kind hearted people.

When a person gambles, they are bound to the term that they understand the risk and the potential of loss. Accepting that they play the game and the outcome is not depending on their gender, colour or any other bullshit parameter.

I would take the above with a grain of salt, a lot of shit gets posted on social media, some are true some may not be. Of course gambling is bad if one is not clever enough to understand it, but crafty manipulators exist too.
1203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: next bitcoin? on: October 05, 2023, 02:50:28 PM
But as history tells us, bitcoin killer will emerge one day. I want to find out such coin, but I don't have enought knowledge and ability to do that..
I dont think anybody has that knowledge, they would have to be a time-traveller for that to actually happen.

There is a narrative in the crypto space that certain coin is a bitcoin killer and hence people should buy it. Point is that such things are only gimmick. Bitcoin can be called fiat-killer - but does that even make sense? No, because fiat is working fine anyway. So if someone tells you that this coin is the bitcoin killer, take that with a large amount of salt. You are most likely being duped.

Quote
I want to ask the smart people here. Is there a coin that is similar to Bitcoin now? something that is perfectly decentralized. I want to invest there. If there's a coin you're making, is fine too. Just let me know. I hope this post becomes a legend.
Like I said, smart people invest in bitcoin, not in those coins claimed to be bitcoin killers.

1206  Local / India / Re: India is creating a Global database of Crypto Exchanges. on: October 04, 2023, 03:40:59 PM
India cant even stop their TB pandemic and has to postpone the End TB program, cryptocurrency is way beyond their concerns and putting a deadline like that seems to be a joke. Obviously it will get flunked and delayed and what not.

Let the biggest countries out there make their moves first, India is still traveling backwards in civilization with increasing taxation on crypto and more restrictions from their brain-dead policy makers.

It is a good concept and tax evaders do need to be punished. However in my opinion, this will take time and such a thing before G21 is not happening easily.
1207  Other / Meta / Re: ? Trust Score Not Shown In Bitcoin Discussion Board? on: October 04, 2023, 03:36:09 PM
I have noticed that for a while also that trust score don’t show on all boards in the forum. I came to realise that those trust scores are only shown on boards that are relevant for you to check the trust of the user before having anything to deal with that person. I like it that way and it really proves the importance of trust score in the forum.
The trust system was created with the objective to mark users who have completed trades and thus can be "considered" trustworthy of another trade. Eventually this became a method to mark scammers too, because the same boon and be a bane for those who are not trustworthy.

Hence Marketplace, Trading Discussion and its child boards are where you will be shown Trust scores by default on the Global forum. Those are the ones pertaining to use of "trust" mechanic.

Extrapolated, it started incorporating other types of fraud, like campaign cheaters.
1208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I choose Bitcoin on: October 04, 2023, 03:30:08 PM
13% interest rate on a fixed deposit is too high. I suggest you tell your friend to check how this company or bank is generating money and the types of loans they are involved in because that is where the money to pay interest on the fixed deposits come from. It usually remains under 6%.

Now FD is not bad as long as you know what you are doing. A Recurring deposit is need for a spending that you anticipate. All these methods of investment have their pros and cons. Bitcoin is not the solution to their shortcomings, keep that in mind. You will need liquid cash at hand when an emergency strikes, which already happened with the pandemic and all.

So advice your friend to manage asset like that fiat and crypto. Under fiat, bank deposits should a part, but please the source.
1209  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoin volatility on: October 04, 2023, 03:26:22 PM
News articles have more or less accepted bitcoin as a stable asset with mainstream acceptance and since taboo topics make more of rounds, once its non-taboo, its normalized, its just what is normal. More big names accepting crypto or news coming out that they are involved in investing in them, the more this stability consolidates.

However dont take this as an indication of the future trend. We still have more than two months before the year ending. Sudden changes in crypto are not uncommon even though the yearly volatility usually remains under 15%.

Overall, bitcoin is a good asset for long term investment, there is not doubt in this statement.
1210  Local / India / Re: Gemini Exchange planned to invest 200 Crores INR on: October 03, 2023, 03:06:31 PM
Let them start with the hiring of developers and growing their business here, lets not be pessimistic about it.

Because you see, in order to launch a business in a new country, one needs to stay there and learn the ways and test the waters. By setting up office here, they can eventually decide whether to pull out because of problems or stay and offer services.

What I get pessimistic about is the government here, where politicians know shit about crypto and are pushing it under the rug.
1211  Local / India / Re: Oct 1 | Tax on online gaming & casinos set to 28% on: October 03, 2023, 03:03:17 PM
The 30% TDS is applicable, but since the casinos dont operate like that (on Indian soil) I guess that is waived off for now. But for exchanges that are running here, its pretty damn applicable.

Now coming to gaming sites and that 28% tax, its like the capital gain from the games, like @Bitcoin Smith said.

The confusion here would be if casinos running outside would have to undergo KYC document submission to the Indian government and the gov then tracks down how many of us are winning money there. Grin

Then the decision of 28% or 30% would come in, obviously this would not happen anytime soon.

And why back off? I made a challenge. Prove it scam.
You should go to the corner and ask yourself the reason why you are living if your only concern is to steal money from people who have worked hard for it. If you still dont find remorse, then I am sorry you are beyond saving and need treatment, defenitely not suitable to live the community.

So enjoy you red tags and be afraid that the community here is strong enough to slap you with red trouts whenever needed and leave you sweating at your foiled setups.

Flag supported from my end.
1213  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is there another similar concept? on: October 03, 2023, 02:46:52 PM
Answering your first question, Signature campaigns started with Primedice before I even came to the forum, I learnt mostly from fellow members and has been gambling sites as the lions share but eventually different other companies came in. ICOs had their short campaigns at one time which flooded the forum along with campaigners using unfair means to accumulate as much as possible. Mixers and Exchanges have been the next few share.

For your second question, there have been many other forums for cryptocurrency and one of the iconic post-incentivising forums was cryptotalk, which still exists but the spam was so huge that they shut down that feature and now its a somewhat dead forum, you can visit it yourself and see. Still the lions share is bitcointalk and lets hope it remains like that. Cool
1214  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Restoring my wallet on: October 03, 2023, 02:40:34 PM
If I gave a name for  my wallet (wallet  1) , the file store on my computer 1 , what is the purpose of that file? , if I want to restore the (wallet 1) on another computer2, I made creat new wallet and have already the seed phrase and give it another name say(wallet 2) and there will be file stored on computer2 (wallet 2) and it have all hostrical transaction  that I made on wallet 1 computer 1? I am right or not
Just forget about the wallet 1 or wallet 2. On a new build, you follow what the link given by @OmegaStarScream and what is written there. You just need your seed phrase and that is enough to build the wallet on your new computer.

I have been through the same, hence I can confirm it from my side. Its easy but make sure your script type and derivation paths are correct.

Follow up with any other questions if you have. Otherwise query seems to be solved.
1215  Other / Meta / Re: best replies should appear first in a thread. on: October 02, 2023, 01:59:47 PM
and if such a group is created i would simply put all these merit pointers on ignore.
I can understand why, defenitely the sockpuppet problem, indeed something that has plagued the trust system previously as well. Just that it came to my head and I put it up for discussion to see how people might think.

Regardless, the term best or good are relative, which has become the crux of this thread now, whether someone rewards merit to them is a separate idea. I get that, but the Noise/Signal is still high and there is no deterrent to the noise.

Still the status quo seems to be better than any change at the moment.
1216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Educate yourself to be a frugal gambler on: October 02, 2023, 10:14:18 AM
Have a daily or weekly gambling budget and learn which games you like and how to play them so that you can actually have much more fun playing them than just winging any game.
Topic has been discussed at length.

Addicted gamblers are never playing for fun, they are playing for the rush that comes when you take risk and the suspense of winning big or losing it all. Also the reason why "Max Bet" exists in so many casinos. Anyway, it is difficult for them to actually practice a bankroll management or set up a weekly/monthly quota for betting.

They will try to chases losses and make more, the only way to stop the vicious cycle is to shut yourself off from these sites and accept the losses while trying to earn and make it up.
1217  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Before you take sides on: October 02, 2023, 10:09:48 AM
Till date, all the scam accusations against reputed sites, none have been genuine, because the genuine ones get settled properly. However these customers rarely come back to defend the casinos when the bullshit accusations come up. If you follow the scam accusations section carefully, anyone can realize this and come to the proper conclusion that most of the casinos are fair and try to pay their customers in case a problem arises and the player wins but is not paid out immediately or some glitch occurs.

A disgruntled player will often shift blame of their addiction on the casino, sucks to be them, I would say.
1218  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Fake Ethereum MEV trading bot, Stay away from this scam. on: October 02, 2023, 09:54:30 AM
People are so greedy that they believe these just by seeing fake reviews of others and they don't really want to think whether it is actually true or not. They create a lot of fake accounts and give fake reviews under their YouTube videos so that crypto users think those videos are real and fall into the trap of such fake bots. Crypto users should be careful to avoid such scams.
Its easy to get those bot comments on youtube before they remove the video after getting a significant number of reports from legit users. So we should all report it specially from your google accounts.

Coming back to the topic, I guess these type of scams propagate when a newbie wants to make money but does not to go through the grind but the easy way out. There are legit bots to help you automate the process of trading but scams are always there and if it seems to good to be true, then it is a scam when it comes to space like cryptocurrency.
1219  Other / Archival / Re: Electrum download link on: October 02, 2023, 09:47:53 AM
You should bookmark the official site, @OmegaStarScream has posted it here for you, but you should only trust yourself and look up the actual site link which is also present in the desktop app, assuming you have not installed it yet, follow it for now and always download the new version from the website and use the GPG signature to verify that the file is intact.

Read more about this here - https://electrum.org/#download

You can never be too careful when it comes to cryptocurrency safety.
1220  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC Paper Wallet Recovery on: October 01, 2023, 11:01:26 AM
Thank you for your reply, I was afraid of that verdict. Do you think it's not worth using a hacking website like the one I mentioned? Or am I throwing good money after bad?
I can give a good example of a specific type of scam here.

Once there were many HYIP/MLM websites that used to pop up, run for a month or two and then one fine morning shut down without a trace leaving the investors on this forum discussing about where their money vanished. A few days later a website claiming to recover money lost on that site comes up and asks for a small fee from everyone in order to get their money back. The ones who do that, are hopeful that this "recovery service" will help them, but after a few days even the "recovery service" stop responding.

I prefer to call this the recovery scam. It is common when people are in a chaos and emotional about lost money. Whether it is applicable in your case - I think you have already understood that. Remember that to keep bitcoin secure you need to secure your devices, how you generate and store your keys, what shit you download from the internet. So called people who hack and recover stuff are mostly charlatans.
