12101  Other / Politics & Society / Re: We Could Be Living In Simulation Says Elon Musk on: June 21, 2016, 01:57:49 PM
This simulation did not start a million years ago. It started with the big bang and has been running about 15 billion years. Our entire universe is simulated. (if true)
Theres a refresh rate for our universe. Its around a trillion times per second, but it exists.
Is there a quantum mechanic in the house?

But what if our 15 billion years = 15 hours on base reality?  And how would you know it takes that much refresh rate to mimic reality if one has not experienced it?

Come on. You are only imagining that you are asking these questions. You are in the simulation, and haven't really asked anything.

 Grin

Then again, how do I know I'm really in a simulation if I haven't experienced reality?  How do I kmow that I'm only imagining asking a question when I am really actually asking a question?

This is something you muse about over drinks or a bowl with close friends. You don't say shit like this out loud, especially when you are looking for additional VC and want then to take you seriously.

True.  But this is a guy who has already achieved so much and is considered somewhat a titan in the business world.  And not only that, his businesses are forward moving and future facing.  On September he's going to show everyone his detailed plan on how to send a man to Mars then back.  Despite of expressing what he really thinks, how can you really not take him seriously?

What was the average ICO price? In satoshi and dollar.

Around $0.20 - $0.21.  You can find the performances of some of the ICO's here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1p7sJflgEXYp9VbgJVgsIXG08MLBw2iNPT-PO3GtEgEU/htmlview

Watch Lesnar vs Mir 2 again:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TubJH4IMl54

I think Lesnar could give Hunt a good beating if he's healthy and been training well.

Moving on up!  Despite the bad beats, we managed to reach over 30 buy ins for 5nl.  Our bankroll is now at $154.69.

I will be taking a 5 - 10 buy in shot to the next level, 5nl.

Also playing extra aggressive has been paying off lately.  I keep getting called or tried to be bluffed on when I have good/decent hands.  So that's always good.  Let's hope they keep doing that.  Wink

Here are some hand histories.

12108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING scammer r0ach now shilling for the Monero hoax on: June 21, 2016, 04:24:41 AM
just noticed that r0ach has started to indulge in heavy pro-Momero propaganda beginning today

most likely bribed/paid - the usual deceptive game by momero community managers

however! this won't do well as r0ach is literally known as a roach on Bitcointalk. he's a bad investor

MOMERO please use better shills, TRY HARDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This time I agree with Roach.  XMR is a buy and it's starting to break out.  A good price to get in would be .00235 - .00255.  Now granting BTC will go steady eddy for a while and not surge upwards vs fiat, getting into XMR for a little BTC profit is a good idea.

But of course get that stoploss always handy in case the trade goes against you.

Good luck!

Edit:  I would also like to point out that I only agree with Roach to a point.  Specifically from a trading point of view.  That's how far it goes.
12109  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: the easiest way to make a profit from gambling? on: June 20, 2016, 12:54:44 PM
hello, I would like to try my luck from gambling.

what kind of gambling that you think is easy to make a profit? and what strategies are you using?

These are not really gambling but are actually skill games.  Poker, Sportsbetting and Daily Fantasy Sports.  If you're looking to make a profit consistently then these three are what you would be wanting to play.

But let me warn you that nothing comes easy in anything.  You have to do your own research and should be a diligent student of these games in order to win consistently and be able to formulate a strategy best fit for yourself.
12110  Economy / Economics / Re: Best way for steady income on: June 20, 2016, 12:44:44 PM
Hello All,

What you think is the best investment to gain steady income in btc without actively doing anything?
So no trading/gambling/loaning etc.

Steady income more likely to be 'small & secure' than 'big & risky'.

Thanks,
BR Oinas

If a steady and safe stream of income is what you want then stay away from cryptocurrencies.  It might be better for you to invest in a mutual fund or in bonds where you're investment is assured a 'small and secure' income.  Cryptocurrencies are highly volatile and so dynamic that failing to adapt would surely result in losses.  The best example is Ethereum.  It was going really good vs fiat, then all it took was a hacker to exploit its pet project the DAO and now everything is tumbling down.

12111  Economy / Gambling / Re: Online Poker Challenge: Getting Out of the Micros on: June 20, 2016, 08:27:25 AM
And the bad run and coolers continue.  But there's no other way but to keep playing the best as you can and just go through the variance.

Sometimes poker is a cruel game.  Sad

tokeweed don't listen to any criticism, if your thread is out of bounds then mods will remove it, it's not normal postes job to do that.

You are a braver man than me with this challenge though, I suck at poker. Good luck with it all though.
I'll agree with this. This is a gambling sub forum so anything to do with gambling is allowed here, not just things with Bitcoin. I'm positive there is no rule for "Bitcoin only" posts to be made. About the PLO, I'm glad you decide to do it after you build up a big bank roll. 25NL is probably pretty tight these days haha from so many people who most likely know at least a little bit about hand probability. Do you have a poker tracker so that you can identify their pre flop raises and other statistics? Should go a long way at even the low levels. Good to see you profit for the week Grin

Thanks for the support guys.  But thinking about it, he has a point.  I have plans to transfer to play in a BTC poker site sooner or later for poker challenges.  And that has to be betcoin.ag.  But I can't give any ETA for now.  The best I can do is not post the name of the site I'm playing at in the future in respect of the BTC poker sites.

12115  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC Fight Night 89: Rory vs. Wonderboy. Share your predictions. on: June 19, 2016, 05:53:06 AM
Good fight between Thompson and Rory although I expected more.  This fight was potentially Fight of the Year, but no, and that's ok.  I would prefer to have him fight Lawler for the championship than Rory.  It's a little too early for Lawler - Rory 3 imo.

It's also nice to see Cerrone win vs Cote.  Easy win for him...  He's back!
12116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH = Game Over on: June 19, 2016, 01:36:33 AM
An interesting read from a guy reddit.  He gave compelling arguments and it does make you think twice about the viability and security of the current smart contract plaforms and DAOs currently in circulation.

Source:   The bug which the "DAO hacker" exploited was *not* "merely in the DAO itself" (ie, *separate* from Ethereum). The bug was in Ethereum's *language design* itself (Solidity / EVM - Ethereum Virtual Machine) - shown by the "recursive call bug discovery" divulged (and dismissed) on slock.it last week.

Here's an excerpt of the post.

Quote
Complexity and "Turing completeness" are not the real culprit here - those are all good things that we can have someday. The real culprit is poor language design. Specifically, I would recommend using "functional" (rather than "procedural") languages for mission-critical code which will be driving "smart contracts" - and even better if a high-level "specification" language could be used, allowing formal derivation of a (verifiably correct) program in a low-level "implementation" language (ie, providing mathematical proof that the implementation satisfies the specification - and mitigating the problem where the high-level human-readable "description" is different from the low-level machine-runnable "code"). I suspect many people (raised in a world where JavaScript is the "assembly language of the web") might not know about some of the history and possibly related work. So take this as a stern lecture telling you to take a good look at the history of functional languages (and specification vs implementation languages) as used in mission-critical projects, including finance - which, even when using such tools, are still very hard to get right - as we can see from the decades-long history of failures of major projects in defense, healthcare, aerospace, etc.

Dude, what does this have to do with crypto currencies? Shouldn't this just belong on twoplustwo forum?

To my defense, what do the other threads like the EPL thread and soccer transfer threads, or the 'is gambling a sin?' thread have to do with BTC?

Quote
Try your strategy on Betcoin.ag, who are paying you for the sig campaign, then add those earnings to your roll as you go. Or try your strategy at Bovada, which recently added BTC withdrawals. Seriously ... a lot of us play poker, and we've seen all this before. If you are doing it on a btc site, however, it would be much more interesting, and relevant to this forum.

Yup, I thought about that, and I am planning to switch to a BTC poker site.  But there's no ETA as of now.

I'm also planning on making a BTC poker site user review thread, where I play in a site for 2 - 3 days and write a review.  Maybe make a video even.

Cheers!

12119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Etherium Project *******HUGE******* on: June 18, 2016, 04:15:55 PM
Quote from: Financial Times
We understand that a Top 10 International Banking Group are about to announce a trading platform based on the Etherium Blockchain Platform. Ethereum is a public blockchain platform with programmable transaction functionality. It provides a decentralized virtual machine that can execute peer-to-peer contracts using a cryptocurrency called Ether.

The trading engine will be a distributed model based on a, so called, "Smart contract". Smart Contracts are applications with a state stored in the blockchain. They can facilitate, verify, or enforce the negotiation or performance of a contract, or that make a contractual clause unnecessary.
The Banking Group has hired industry expert, Nick Leeson to head up the division.
"The Platform will be launched within the next month and will allow always on, low frequency, high latency international trading with distributed implicit trust."

                                     Nick Leeson

Link to the story please.  Is this real?  Isn't Nick Leeson the trader who single handedly caused the collapse of Barings Bank?  There's a movie about him titled 'Rogue Trader', starring Ewan McGregor.  Cheesy
12120  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you consider trading as gambling? on: June 18, 2016, 01:33:30 PM
actually trading is more like ponzi in nature, because always when trading if you lose some one else wins and if you profit as well some one
Else is losing money, but gambling is just for the house to win and 97% of players to lose then 3% win with the house as well.

Disagree.

Trading earnings depends on your strategy on how you will buy or sell your coins.

Ponze earnings depends only on the mood of the owner if they will still continue to give rewards to it's clients.

See the difference?

Correct.  A ponzi makes money as more and more people 'invest' in it.  For every person in the ponzi, he must find (or swindle) 2 or more investors so he could get paid.  And this builds up like a pyramid.  As long as there are investors coming in it's all good for the guys at the top and the middle.

In trading on the other hand, someone must lose money in order for someone to win.  It's a zero sum game like poker.
