12121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What blockchain should I use? on: June 26, 2018, 01:33:20 PM
Which should i use blockchain flatform for dApps e- commerce to get 2 criteria : zero fee transaction, instant transfer. Thanks!

You need IOTA, not ethereum.
Ethereum is cheaper and faster than btc in most cases but that's not free neither instant.

IOTA is free and instant, as these are necessary conditions to be used in IoT stuff.

Even assuming that OP doesn't care about using a centralized cryptocurrency, IOTA doesn't support smart contracts yet. So until smart contracts are introduced OP won't be able to use IOTA as platform for their DApp.

Yeah, you are right. They have a program called qubic which will support smartcontract in future..

I think op doesn't care about centralization, because you can't have free and instant transactions in a decentralized blockchain
Actually iota is not even a blockchain...

I think there is no option right now for him.
Maybe when ethereum plasma releases.. or iota qubic
12122  Other / Meta / Re: Incentive to the Merit Sources to Achieve their Quota? on: June 26, 2018, 11:44:56 AM

I think that most merit sources do not need any merit.
Actually merit sources should not need merit at all. To avoid conflict of interest.

This post illustrates the one major flaw in the merit system - it has a commercial value. It really should be a means of recognition and guidance for posters. The commercial value means that some members are prostituting themselves to gain merit.

Merit has commercial value , because it allows accounts to rank up and receive money from the account.

Of course people will prostitute to make money, someone also said somewhere that they were trading sex for merit lol

I don't understand how there can be a conflict of interest in awarding merits to merit sources.
I didn't said that awarding merit to merit source would be a conflict of interest.
I said that merit sources lacking merit to rank up could have a conflict of interest.
12123  Other / Meta / Re: Incentive to the Merit Sources to Achieve their Quota? on: June 26, 2018, 11:15:26 AM
Actually merit sources should not need merit at all. To avoid conflict of interest.

Give us extra, unpaid work to read more posts than usual to find some worthy of merit, then penalize us so we can't advance in rank?

Doesn't make sense...  :/

How can you advance forward legendary?

But I didn't said you can't advance in rank, just that you don't need merits. Many merit sources have enough merit to the next rank already, that's why they don't need merit .. this is what I tried to say..
12124  Other / Meta / Re: Incentive to the Merit Sources to Achieve their Quota? on: June 26, 2018, 10:45:41 AM
Give an incentive to the Merit Sources for them to be proactive in achieving their quota.

Merit sources have an indirect (unplanned) incentive to spend their merit.

We are more likely to receive merit in return for passing out our own merit.  :/

I think that most merit sources do not need any merit.
Actually merit sources should not need merit at all. To avoid conflict of interest.

Anyway I think there is no need for an incentive.

Maybe we need more merit sources, because there are lots os comments daily in this forum and just a few (about 80 last time I saw) cannot read all of them.

12127  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: How safe is my wallet at blockchain.info on: June 25, 2018, 09:27:53 PM
Although blockchain.info is considered an unsafe wallet, it is an easy to use wallet and it's a good option for newbies who lack of knowledge about computers in general. So it's good for bitcoin adoption.

I think it could be made safer somehow, but online wallets have too many attack vectores...

12130  Other / Meta / Re: Bounty Manager Account Banned on: June 25, 2018, 03:27:41 PM
Hey there! I am a bounty manager for several projects and for a long time and recently my account "DentIt" was banned for "incentivizing posting". (DentIt: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=369595)

If zoonosis and DentIt are both your accounts, why zoonosis is meriting DentIt?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=369595

Be careful or may get a red trust on this account....
Probably you were banned because you are not following rules, clearly.
Zoonosis is another bounty manager who works in the industry and we collaborate and work together occasionally. He allowed me to use this account for the query. We also have employees who use the accounts. I was not even aware of the merit being given to the dentit account (nor do I know what merit does?)

Merit allows you to rank up. It's not allowed to give to your alt accounts.

Anyway, you should make clear that this is not your account.

12134  Other / Meta / Re: When will the account recovery problem be solved? on: June 24, 2018, 05:08:29 PM
If the message verifies successfully, you are redirect to a set a new password page
That creates another angle of attack: people lose (or even sell) private keys, which would give someone access to their account.

But if someone sells his own private key, or loses it, this is entirely his fault.

This is different from a hacked account, which is a lot more unsafe.
As a private key can be stored 100% offline.
12135  Other / Meta / Re: When will the account recovery problem be solved? on: June 24, 2018, 11:17:22 AM
i think this could be easily solved using a form on a login page.
You just click on "my account was hacked"

Then you enter your username, your registered address  and the page tells you to write today's date and sign the message.

This could be easily checked, maybe even automatically if someone uses a script like brainwallet's website.

If the message verifies successfully, you are redirect to a set a new password page

I just wired some money to Kraken. How long does that usually take, for a domestic wire transfer?
This will be my largest purchase since 2015. Hopefully there's more blood soon.

I feel good to see this kind of optimism here. I have some fiat ready in a exchange just waiting for the bloodbath too.

Wall observer could save a lot of newbies and weak hands if they could find it.
12139  Other / Meta / Re: When will the account recovery problem be solved? on: June 22, 2018, 04:46:17 PM
It's been years since we've had people in endless queues waiting to get a message back from either Cyrus or theymos, and none of them answering for some reason, even after sufficient cryptographic proof was presented (typically, a signed bitcoin address).

Here is what I don't understand.... Theymos is intelligent when it comes to programming.  He could easily create a type of account that had limited moderator abilities - specifically  the security rights to unlock an account.  A trusted user (like me) could spend some time to review signed messages and restore accounts, reducing workload.

I guess he just does not prioritize account recovery.  I understand his reasoning, since losing your account is, in most cases, your fault.

Unfortunate events can happen to everyone. Even satoshi lost his gmx account and said account got eventually hacked and exploited. It can happen to anyone. Keeping email accounts and forum passes online it's not the same as keeping your private keys offline (which never touch the internet). As soon as something touches the internet there is a % of disaster out of your reach, like a security breach on the email provider's side and so on.

I agree. Everyone can be hacked. Maybe not everyone ,but most of people.  not everyone here is a cyber security expert, there is a lot of diversification here in this forum.

people have different life styles. Some people use multiple devices (if someone travels a lot), or they can trust some third party password manager that got hacked... There are many things out of our control, and one security solution that works for one person may not work for another as they have different habits
12140  Other / Meta / Re: When will the account recovery problem be solved? on: June 22, 2018, 11:57:04 AM
It's been years since we've had people in endless queues waiting to get a message back from either Cyrus or theymos, and none of them answering for some reason, even after sufficient cryptographic proof was presented (typically, a signed bitcoin address).

We are not talking obvious spammers, but legit posters getting their account hacked, signing various BTC addresses and never getting a reply back. I think this is unfair and a bigger problem than some 3rd worlders spamming on 100+ page threads. Some legit users just can't get their accounts back, they lose their PM history and other valuable stuff.

I wonder when will the account recovery methods be improved. Probably hiring new staff to do the task should do.

Yeah, this is very important as they are legit users. Most of them with quoted signed messages... I see some of them are having their account back, but it takes too long.

I think people look at those post where people ask for help and most users may think that they have nothing to do with it.

But we all could have our accounts hacked... This is a problem that concerns every legit user.

Maybe this process of address signature verification could be made faster.
