12181  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Cat.ex exchange? on: October 18, 2019, 08:48:38 AM
I have never used their exchange. I remember seeing a thread about them in my local forum. They have their own native token that they use to pay out dividends to their members. Like with all the other native exchange tokens you can take advantage of lower fees when you use their token, standard stuff.
They are listed on CMC and looking at the charts they aren't doing that bad compared to many other alts that are getting slaughtered. They are up 56.45% from the date of their listing.
12182  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New scam technique on Telegram. on: October 18, 2019, 08:25:52 AM
Another technique that I saw last week is that someone is sending stickers in the group that crashing your app...
This could be prevented when you disable automatic downloading of media in the setting of your Telegram account. That way if you want to view a picture or a video you would have to manually click on it, otherwise it wont get downloaded to your device.

I don't remember by heart how to turn it off but is should be somewhere at Settings > Media Download and an option to untick automatic media download.
12183  Other / Meta / Re: Which rank can we trust really? on: October 17, 2019, 09:41:02 AM
Trust your judgement and your gut feeling. If you have the slightest concern when dealing with someone, if we are talking about money, goods etc, use an escrow. Higher rank doesn't mean a higher level of trust. Everyone can become a scammer if for some reason he fells the opportunity is 'worth it'.

I can't remember the name of the user who scammed a newbie here a few months back. The guy seemed all right, had a relatively high rank, he was writing posts about protecting yourself online, was privacy oriented and advising users of what to do and what not to. In the end he ended up emptying some users wallet who asked for his help. He saw an opportunity and decided to throw his reputation under the bus.
12184  Economy / Gambling / Re: SmashTheBookie, first crypto sportbet syndicate. Freebet for 50 first signups!!! on: October 17, 2019, 09:21:09 AM
Put simply, Betfair Pools offers bettors the chance to bet on the outcome of football results and scores. Amounts staked are placed into a big pot (or 'pool') and the winning players share the total pool, minus any deductions.
What kind of deductions could there be and for what reasons?

Regarding the €1 entry offer for the Bitcointalk community.
In my opinion there seem to be too many steps to be eligible for the offer. Why is it a requirement to follow you on twitter and have a twitter account?
I know you are trying to boost your social media presence but I am sure that many users here are not using twitter or want to use it for whatever reasons.
12185  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help to recover an Electrum Wallet on: October 17, 2019, 08:54:55 AM
Do you have any log or a file with your addresses that contain the Bitcoins?
If you do please check them on a block explorer like Blockchair. That way you will know if the bitcoin is still there or if your wallet has been emptied by the thieves. If the addresses are empty you are out of luck and all the other steps aren't necessary. But it is also possible that the thieves have no idea what Bitcoin is and they were just looking for cash, gold and other valuables.
12186  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New scam technique on Telegram. on: October 17, 2019, 08:41:55 AM
Another thing. I have said this before but it doesn't hurt to repeat it.
Those scammers contacting you over Telegram are not members of the group you just joined. They are just watching the group but they haven't joined it. The reason why they are not members in the groups is because they use similar usernames, same photos and details of the group admins. They would easily be identified and banned from the groups if they joined them.

Telegram gives you an option to check what groups you have in common with the person contacting you. It is only logical that if an actual admin of the group you joined PMs you that you are both part of the same group but when a scammer does it he will most probably not be a member of the same group.
12187  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bad experience with exchanges on: October 16, 2019, 07:56:03 AM
I had an open sell order on Cryptopia for a relatively unknown coin that was trading there. It wasn't a lot. After that they closed down and everyone knows the rest. I though about using HitBTC a few years ago but I decided against doing that. I am glad I did since I have been reading different types of stories where users claim that their funds got locked away and they never managed to withdraw them.
12188  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New scam technique on Telegram. on: October 16, 2019, 07:46:00 AM
I haven't seen that before to be honest. They can't use the same username as the admin so they copy the admins username and post it in the bio section.
But still there are a few things you should always remember with Telegram.

1. Admins will never ask for your private information like passwords, private keys etc - Scammers Will.
2. Admins will never PM you first and especially not when you join a group - Scammers Will.
3. Admins will try to solve your problem in the group chat and not via PM messaging unless you request it - Scammers will PM you without writing in the group.

Alternatively, you can also use https://haveibeenpwned.com/
Someone posted a while back that https://haveibeenpwned.com/ could be a good way for whoever created the site to check which emails and accounts are still active and have any importance to their users. If you search for your email on that site that means that it has some importance to you, it does make sense.

Sanchez is under investigation if he need a surgery operation he will need to skip at least 3 months, Manchester will be very happy since they pay 50% of his salary Cheesy.
Manchester will still keep paying those 50% of his salary no matter if he plays or not.

Regarding Emre Can, he did another reckless thing a few days ago. He and Gundogan (Manchester City) liked a photo of the Turkish National Team saluting the army. It is believed that this salute means support for the Turkish military actions against Syria that are taking place in the last few days.

You can see how serious it is by taking a look what happened to St Pauli player Cenk Sahin. He posted a photo of himself doing the same saluting and he was fired by his club the following day.
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/oct/14/st-pauli-cenk-sahin-turkey-syria

Emre Can really needs to calm down and keep his personal opinions to himself.

And how could someone possibly misspell "copper" as "chopper"?  That blows my mind.
Yeah you are right. And besides, everyone knows what a chopper is! To be precise, the actual name is Mini Chopper. Here is an example  Grin

12192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: October 15, 2019, 09:30:40 AM
Emre Can Should change the team because he is very potential and strong in the midfield, I think he is not in the Sarri's game plan anymore but he has played a wonderful game in the international level, If he moves Manchester United then it will be useful for both of them. In the squad of old lady, some more potential players are on the bench, I believe Sarri will choose Aron Ramsey and Pjanic First and then Douglas Costa and Rabbiot will play as their substitute, so there is no chance to make a start for Emre, It's a not big issue for Juve but it's major concern for Emre because he is now 28 only, He has a lot of things given towards the future
Sarri will most likely focus on two formations this season:
4-3-3 with Douglas Costa on the wing or 4-3-1-2 with Ramsey playing behind the strikers. This will depend mostly on the opposition and availability of players.

The issue with Emre Can is a complex one. Can was not included in the Champions League squad of Juventus and he felt like he was betrayed by the club. He made a bad media outburst stating that he was promised Champions League football and that he had an offer during the summer from PSG that he rejected because of Juventus. I believe that he hasn't played that much because he is being silently punished by the club because of his criticism.

Had he been a bit smarter it would have been much better for him.
Can was not included in the CL squad because Giorgio Chiellini was seriously injured and will miss most of the season. Another defender needed to take his place and Rugani did that pushing Can out of the list. UEFA also states that a number of domestic and homegrown players need to be part of the CL squad. Chiellini being an Italian was one of them, because of his injury another Italian was needed to take his place - Rugani. That is why Can was sacrificed.
12193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Qualifying on: October 15, 2019, 09:16:35 AM
I watched the Bulgaria - England match last night. Pretty disgusting behavior by the home fans. If they can be called fans, that is.
The match was interrupted twice due to racist slurs towards the English players and after the 2nd interruption a group of mostly masked, black wearing Bulgaria supporters left the stadium on their own terms. It didn't look like they were forced to leave by the police/security but they did so on their own.
Not sure if it they acted like that because of a protest of some sorts and a way to punish the Bulgarian football federation due to the results of the National team or what that was all about. But it looks like that to me. They came to create problems, once they were done, they left.
12194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [OCT 2019] Fees are low, use this opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs! on: October 15, 2019, 09:05:37 AM
At the moment 10-12 Sat/Byte would be needed for a faster confirmation but it is getting back to lower fees slowly. 20 Sat/Byte was suggested just 30 minutes ago and the mempool is getting emptier since then.

...I have electrum wallet on an unnetworked old computer, it isn't connected to the internet, I only connect it on an as-needed basis.
In that case your computer IS connected to the Internet. You can't consider your setup to be an offline setup if you connect it to the Internet from time to time. Only if it has never gone online you can truly say that it is cold storage.
12196  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: ⚠️ Plark — all-in-one cryptocurrency wallet ⚠️ on: October 15, 2019, 08:44:52 AM
Why would you like to see more customizable transaction fee option?
Because wallets and exchanges often overpay and have too high estimates when it comes to fees. Being able to customize the fees according to the users needs would be a good option. If you are not in a hurry you can create a 1 Sat/vByte transaction and wait a few hours until it is confirmed. There is no need to overpay and use 5 or 10 times more fees.
12197  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Compatibility of Legacy w Native Segwit w Nested Segwit on: October 15, 2019, 08:40:16 AM
There is a nice list of exchanges and wallets that support Bech32 here: https://whensegwit.com/
I just don't know how up-to-date it is and many services are not on the list. For example they don't list Ledger devices but Trezor is there.
12198  Other / Off-topic / Re: [Heads-up] Apps need to remove from your phone containing harmful adware on: October 14, 2019, 09:24:56 AM
Why would someone need an app to generate elves Huh
Google Play Store will not keep your phone safe and relying on it to do so will eventually cost you. Don't download and install stuff just because you are bored and want to try it out. Everything you do can have serious repercussions on your security and would you really want put that in jeopardy because an app who generates elves or unicorns?!
12199  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Access wallet addresses easily, without storing private keys or security phrases on: October 14, 2019, 09:18:25 AM
Not sure if you are telling the truth or just promoting that site but do you think you were specifically targeted because of your crypto holdings?
In that case I would ask myself who knows that I am holding crypto on my computer and storing all the sensitive information there which is a very bad habit.

I have a hard time understanding how people can still believe that they were randomly selected to receive a $1000 paypal giftcard or whatever else these scammers come up with. Or people who believe they won a lottery they didn't even buy a ticket for. Absolutely no common sense and greed is he main problem.
