Mining is very important, the higher difficulty, the more secure Bitcoin = Bitcoin has more value.

Its true I would mine more with lower difficulty, but I preffer higher and higher difficulty - this will move Bitcoin to new stage where it has more value I believe

The payouts fell dramatically earlier this year as $/BTC exchange soared. I remember very well when Daily Bitcoins's base payout (without lucky prize) was 5000 satoshi. Since March-ish it has been reduced to 1000 satoshi. The continuation of this trend is a sign of the growing success of Bitcoin!

So true, and If you had time and compete for the bigger prices  at dailybitcoin and coinad you could make 0,01 BTC daily easily  Smiley

Hello to all, I just registered on the forum.
I started with bitcoins about a year ago and got a little miner mining on scrypt. (4 x 7950) which I wouldn't have got running without the articles on this forum.
So I finally decided to register and join your community.

Kind regards to all.

Welcome, nice rig.

In fact you could mine serious amount of Bitcoins one year ago with this rig when difficulty was around 1,5M

Hopefully you did!

I would be extremely surprised. This is not eBay.

Ok, BitMit might add "Scammer paradise" to their logo then

Actually, that phone has been listed about 4 times. From a different user each time. If you bid on it, you'll have a message "Would you like to buy this for 1BTC" each time. Then when the auction finishes, it will be listed again. Every time this has happened, the account has had bad feedback stating they wanted the coins first. (The pictures can be found on google also).

So, I guess the buyers realised and made a massive bid to stop others bidding. The top bidder is probably on a new account.

Why the buyers would do that and not buy it now at the price asked by the seller (around 1 btc).
I don't understand it.
To block what he think is a scam attempt. The seller is trying to bypass the escrow system by asking the buyer to send the BTC directly to him before he ship.

I wouldnt be surprised if there will be lawsuit against the winner to pay the bidded amount for the item

1236  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is Coinbase safe enough to hold your BTC? on: September 01, 2013, 11:12:15 AM
I've read a lot about security as it relates to BTC and I understand that it is safest to use an offline wallet.  However, is Coinbase generally considered safe enough to store (for example) $3K worth of BTC?  Are all kinds of people losing BTC this way or is it proving to be safe?

It is not your BTC as long as these coins are at exchange. If the exchange fills bancruptcy, it is easy to see the BTC they owe you are not waiting just for your withdrawal.

I think that price will rise after the difficulty increases substantially soon. As bitcoins get harder to mine, it will be harder to gain them, hence the price is pushed up (Supply and Demand.) Specifically, I think it will jump right after the difficulty causes each block to be worth 25 bitcoins vs 50. Then we will see some bigger numbers. Wink

I have to agree, to ASICs was invested so much money the owners will not want to sell cheap which supports the possibility of 200
