1221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why Bitcoin Legacy Address got Replaced with Segwit on: December 03, 2023, 08:22:24 AM
I find it remarkable that Litecoin seems to be the forerunner for features Bitcoin implements after seing if it works out or not.
Litecoin not being the Silver rather being the platinium. Wink
It depends on how you look at it. You can compare it with a piece of technology we all use - smartphones. Big companies have their flagships. Those are the most expensive phones with the best build quality, hardware, software etc. But they also have many experimental models where they test out different new features, hardware, software combinations, etc. Phones made of cheaper materials for those not willing to pay for a flagship.

If the tech they are experimenting with isn't producing the results they expected, too bad. It will stay with one of those cheaper models. That's Litecoin for you.
If it works and creates additional benefits, it will be added to the set of features on the next flagship. That's Bitcoin.
1222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Pending transaction for 4 days with 35 sat fee? on: December 03, 2023, 07:58:21 AM
@Mulling389
I wouldn't trust the recommendations and the site the person I am quoting below suggested to you. It smells like a scam. That's how a scammer would advertise their site. Besides, the website is only 14 days old, so stay away from it. The user has already been tagged by a DT member for what they are doing.

1223  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Table] All Lightning Network Threads In One Place on: December 03, 2023, 07:30:11 AM
Update:

Here is the collection for 2023. If any worthwhile discussions are started in December, I will add those to the table later. I have to figure out where to put it in the OP because I have reached character limits in the posts I reserved at the top. I asked theymos last night to assign the postID of a deleted post to my name so I can use that to add my tables. Hopefully, he will do it. In the meantime, all I can do is post it here.

1224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC sent by mistake to localbitcoins wallet. How to recover? on: December 03, 2023, 07:24:06 AM
A user once made a report about the exchange scamming him after they declared the shutting down of their service.
That "report" of his makes no sense. He created multiple threads on the matter and I don't know if he presented any proof in any of them. The one you linked to has no proof whatsoever about any wrongdoings. He wants to pay money for information about someone or for their arrest. I guess in his head, the work of the police and justice system depends on how much money you give them, not the evidence you have against them or probable cause.
1225  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 02, 2023, 04:54:20 PM
Several people seem to be concerned that the current policy will be too disruptive/constraining. How about I make this modification to loosen it a bit: you can direct people to mixers by name (even in something like a "top 10 mixers" topic), as long as:
 - You don't directly post their URLs.
 - It's not a paid ad, and you're not representing a mixer.

Would this be sufficient to address the concerns?
Someone might have asked and commented the same already, so I apologize if I am repeating it. There were 5 pages of posts after you posted this.

The suggestion makes more sense. However there is a problem. The results you get on search engines by searching for a mixer are not to be trusted. If a user tells someone they can use ABC mixer, it's quite possible that the first 3 results on a search engine all lead to phishing sites. You are basically directing them to a phishing site without the correct URL. If the URLs are to be banned, can that same user who makes the recommendation say, contact me via PM or Telegram so I can give you the correct link? This way, no illegal links are posted on the forum.
1226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC sent by mistake to localbitcoins wallet. How to recover? on: December 02, 2023, 04:43:10 PM
Why does their customer service department still exist and communicates with clients if they are no longer allowing users to empty their accounts? It's no longer possible to register a new account. Weird people.
LocalBitcoins is regulated by the Finnish Financial Authorities. Tell the staff nicely again that you made an honest mistake, and if they don't want to help, you'll get the Finnish Financial Authorities involved. They might not care, but at this point, you have nothing to lose.
1227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: how to access from phrases only. on: December 02, 2023, 04:34:42 PM
Alternatively, you could find similar image from Google image search result and show it to us.
If it's a set of words, he can tell us it's words and how many there are without writing down the correct words, of course. If it's a private key, he can tell us which character it begins with and how many characters it has in total. Based on that information, we should be able to determine what is on his paper backup.
1228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Pending transaction for 4 days with 35 sat fee? on: December 02, 2023, 04:30:17 PM
Yes, but OP's effective fee rate is not 35 sat/vByte, it's 18.3 sat/vByte. He will have to wait much longer. There aren't that many transactions paying +30 sat/vByte currently, and with a bit of luck it could have been confirmed within the next hours. His effective fee rate puts him 15-18 vMB from the top. Perhaps Sunday brings more luck like it did in the past when the mempools used to clear up.

@Mulling389
Is the transaction time sensitive? Does it have to confirm until a specific point in time in the near future?
If not, just wait. Especially if you are sending the coins to yourself. The BTC isn't going anywhere. It will either confirm or not confirm and return to the original address you sent it from if mempools drop it. In that case, you can start over and pay a higher fee.
1229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC sent by mistake to localbitcoins wallet. How to recover? on: December 02, 2023, 08:35:39 AM
I am surprised they are still responding to email inquiries. The site announced its closure at the beginning of 2023.
Sadly, no one can help you. Unless you can personally log in to your account and withdraw your coins elsewhere.

They still have a log in button on their website. What happens if you enter your login details, can you get access to your account? Try to reset the password via email if it doesn't work.
1230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: how to access from phrases only. on: December 02, 2023, 08:21:36 AM
Since OP can't import that "phrase" he has into Bitcoin Core, it's probably not a private key or a key in a format that Bitcoin Core recognizes.
HD wallets were introduced somewhere in 2013. OP says the paper is 10 years old. It might be an early-stage recovery phrase.

The obvious question is, does the paper contain clearly visible English words or is it one big string of uppercase/lowercase letters and numbers?
Another thing. Did you invest or own bitcoin in the past and just now came across the paper?
1231  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wasabi Wallet - Open Source, Noncustodial Coinjoin Software on: December 02, 2023, 08:07:45 AM
I guess I can't say for certain because I've never used Ledger, I've only used Trezor and Coldcard.
OK. Do you care to share some feedback about the initial onboarding process with a Trezor through Wasabi instead of the Trezor Suite?

Ledger claims that your xpub is never sent to their servers, but I think the 20 addresses within your gap limit is - https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360011069619-Extended-public-key-xPub-?docs=true
Ledger Live is open-source. Those who know how to could check that. I don't personally believe that Ledger or Trezor don't have knowledge of your master public keys and that those keys don't interact with their servers. At least with the Trezor Suite it can go through TOR. I don't think it's possible with LL.
1232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should altcoins be blamed? on: December 02, 2023, 07:56:19 AM
Some altcoins have given investors huge profit this is because they did their research and approached altcoins carefully...
A minority did proper research. Others just rode the hype wave hoping it would work out in the end. Sometimes it does, more often than not, it doesn't. New entrants in the market use the positive experiences of others to justify their risky investments, but completely neglecting the mountain of negative experiences, scams, exit scams, etc. It's those people who will later come crying and shouting that bitcoin is a scam.

Bump!

I am looking for custom offers to rent out my signature, avatar, and personal text space!
1234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should altcoins be blamed? on: December 01, 2023, 06:49:18 PM
Bitcoin stands on a throne of its own. No one else is on that throne that you can compare it with. Monero is a good altcoin but it doesn't and probably never will have even close to the users and holders of bitcoin. The rest are altcoins, many of which are shitcoins. There is no reason to mention them in the same sentence.

Can you make money with alts? Yes, you can, and that's all they are there for. To make a small circle of developers and creators rich and leave you with the hype bags in your possession if you didn't sell on time.

A person with common sense will never blame Bitcoin or crypto in general for mistakes they committed. If you lost your coins or got hacked, it's not the network's fault that you didn't learn how to protect your keys. Volatility is normal in bitcoin, and if you can't handle it or expect a constant uptrend, then you will be surprised.

Learn from your mistakes and take responsibility for your actions.
1235  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin at its ATH of 2023 so far on: December 01, 2023, 06:14:30 PM
A market analyst that has a history of being right when everyone else expects the opposite has stated that bitcoin isn't going above $42.000 yet unless something significant happens, like the approval of Bitcoin ETFs. In that case, who knows where it could go. He expects one more downtrend before the pre-halving bullish movement. I am curious to see what is going to happen.
1236  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wasabi Wallet - Open Source, Noncustodial Coinjoin Software on: December 01, 2023, 06:00:56 PM
The ridiculous petition was locked, I didn't start that topic.
I wasn't talking about that one. It got achieved and locked a few days ago. I meant the Wasabi thread with over 50 pages. But I see now that the OP went on a locking and deletion spree for whatever reason.

I don't recommend Ledger generally since it's closed source, so you trust them completely.
I am aware of that. You mentioned in your OP the initial setup going through Wasabi and I asked how and in what way? Has Wasabi created a tutorial for it?

To be fair, it was not a moderator or admin, the OP of the previous topic is still in a deranged mood and locking all his topics.
I think the petition thread was locked by the staff. The last post in it was from achow101 who told everyone to chill. After that it was locked but not achieved. Any idea what's going on with Symmetrick and why he is destroyig all of his threads?
1237  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wasabi Wallet - Open Source, Noncustodial Coinjoin Software on: December 01, 2023, 03:34:03 PM
Try to stay on topic and avoid posting nonsense to avoid having your topic achieved and locked by the admin team again. It should be in your best interest.

Cold storage interface
If you initially set up your hardware wallet using Wasabi as the front end instead of the default Ledger Live or Trezor Suite apps, it will prevent your IP address and Bitcoin wallet addresses from being leaked to Ledger's & Trezor's servers.
On a serious note. How would this work?
You need Ledger Live during the onboarding process and initial setup. You need to install the crypto apps on the wallet. I guess the software already records everything it needs/wants at that stage. Trezors are shipped with no firmware installed on the devices, but I guess you can get all that from their GitHub. Can you install Ledger apps including the 3rd-party apps from their GitHub as well and set everything up through Wasabi?

U budućnosti možda to postane češća praksa. Pročitaj ovo ako te zanima: What Do Centralized Exchanges Consider as Taint?

Možeš malo pojasnit kako i di ovo provjeravaš?
Pretrage idu i preko imena, država, naziva firmi i usluga, itd.
