1221  Economy / Economics / Re: The future of Farming. on: July 09, 2023, 11:27:49 PM
Obviously there continues to be urbanization, establishment of new settlements and development of new towns and cities but still, it’s not well enough to put the future of agriculture at an alarming state.
Food is not a do without and over time, researchers through genetic engineering continue to engineer breeds that would produce food all year round and in great quantity too.

This is out of an understating of the needing population but then, land to cultivate it is hardly the problem as it is, just willing hands to venture into the field.
1222  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: This increment of Fuel price in Nigeria on: July 09, 2023, 11:19:16 PM
There have been rumors say, the price go drop later shah. At least, the least #10-20 reduction but, e never dey confirmed and as much as we no go see am as something, this small thing na em the dealers dey take make there money from the plenty liters them dey sell a day and e go benefit people way dey buy in large quantity. I know say we go like am to drop pass like that shah and e go play like that just say, na time e go take.

This one kwa con show say, if we fit fix our energy source, fix our refineries, maybe we fit see small better.
1223  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Weak state capacity & underdevelopment in Africa: on: July 09, 2023, 10:58:41 PM
The poor state of Africa isn’t contributed to by just foreign policies and interference.

Africans aren’t willing to help develop the nation states that exists within her. The development of Africa is as much impeded upon by foreign policy as well as its people. How do you hope to develop your nation when you have the idea it’s greener in some foreign or far away land. Of course it’s greener where you water it.

Having our resources both human and material chattered away to be refined and sent back to us isn’t taking us no where and it only ensures we are second and underdeveloped still and the African leaders haven’t been very helpful with each having a selfish interest towards wealth accumulation.

Still, it’s important not to give up on hope as, it’s the only thing that’s could ensure the good will and effort to spring forth some form of development.
1224  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am new on: July 09, 2023, 10:28:09 PM

I personally go for a more stoic approach: take this crypto-journey as a long distance race instead of a sprint, avoid shortcuts and follow your own pace no matter what others do.
Aside from the rules which you @OP don’t get to flatter in course of your stay on the forum, this remains the ultimate and should do for every beginner on the forum.

Beginners ought to understand that, slow and steady still wins the race. It works down here in the forum, approaching things in a good enough pace that permits you to understand the information been presented at you. The forum isn’t running away, it’s been around for at least a decade and it’s sure to be around for a long time as I can’t add a forever time with it.

No one is ever too late and as such, beginners ought to give themselves the time they need.
1225  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is buying merit parmited on: July 09, 2023, 10:06:49 PM
You're right with your observation and you don't need to lookh far for the "why". It's called double standard. It's the same reason some users don't merit members outside their circle. This is why I continue to maintain that meriting posts is rather subjective than objective.
A known behaviour for sure but, I never knew there was a name to it “Double Standard”.
Now the question remains is that a good thing? Perhaps the beginners in need of merits should go get a circle… that’s nonsense.

Having either of these in a way undermines the idea behind merit creation as one could easily neglect a merit worthy post for an unworthy one. Although yeah, you count tell what post is unworthy as, it’s not your own Smerit that would be given out and what’s unworthy in your eyes might just be the information that is relevant in another user.

That’s just the sad truth about merits!
1226  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOW TO AVOID DOUBLE POSTING (CLOUDFARE ISSUE) on: July 09, 2023, 06:31:31 PM
The glitch in network today has been some challenge. I actually thought it was due to my time out or interval between posts but, with the rest of you haven’t experienced same issue, I take it to be something out of the ordinary.

Still, it isn’t something to be alarmed about haven’t experienced other network glitch in the past. This one though has lasted more than expected but, will be he resolved.

Yeah, chances are that you might make duplicate post or even have your post lost hence, having to copy before proceeding to post could serve some purpose and in the event of duplicate posts, you can easily delete the duplicate.
1227  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The relationship between educational qualification and quality of post. on: July 09, 2023, 01:25:42 PM
Interesting question OP.
I think we are talking about two different things here.
One is the content and the other is the writing style.
In order for someone to be able to write a quality post on the subject of bitcoin, one obviously needs to be an expert on bitcoin. Today, bitcoin and crypto are not taught in schools, but on the Internet.
However, in order to make the post easier to read and understand, it is important to pay attention to the writing style, grammar, and write clearly and concisely, concretely answering the question or topic. It is easier for academically educated people to write such posts.
There are ways or paths to learning and actually getting an understanding out of what is been taught to you. Yes, having to have a good content is one thing and having to put your content in writing such that, it is comprehensible and can be easily understood is another thing.

Both you can afford through some quality education. It’s had to have some one who went through a proper institution of learning where your not been taught the course of study but, have an exposure to general and divers fields before any form of specialization not to easily understand concepts and not just that, to put them in an easily understandable pattern to writing.

90% of persons will always have an advantage over the others.
1228  Other / Off-topic / Re: When learning stops. on: July 08, 2023, 11:46:00 PM
At first when I saw the thread, it got me wondering just how learning could stop! That was my interest but, the thread took a different root and I got to understand your context.

Well, learning can’t actually stop, it goes all through life and applies to varying fields but then, you could get stuck at some point. That doesn’t mean you stopped learning and for sure, diverting interest for a means of relaxing the brain is a good technique. It would aid to stimulate certain nerves in a different direction and aid you in viewing things from a different perspective that might prove useful. The mirage of trying to force understanding would be clear and you’ll be good.

Learning isn’t something you force and in most cases, it gets easier to comprehend when you’re familiar with the terms. Don’t assume, always search out the terms and get the meanings of each sentence.
1229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think at some point government will change its stand and adopt Bitcoin? on: July 08, 2023, 11:14:33 PM
It’s not abnormal to approach a new innovation with great caution especially one that threatens the stability of governance as by means of taking some of its executive power. Like animals or even our human system, it tends to fight anything Dorine upon discovery, not except there is a disguise by means of hormone generation to simulate something natural.

It’s the same thing we are observing here with the government and the bitcoin innovation. It’s the government’s place yo protect its citizen against anything foreign or innovations that could result in the fraud if of its citizens but as it is, it’s hard to say that’s the case now for the government when we look at bitcoin. There’s isn’t backed by ignorance any more but, a fear of its citizens having a major control of their finance, the government isn’t ready for that.
1230  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which is better to invest in copy trading or bot on: July 08, 2023, 10:51:42 PM
Which is better to invest in copy trading or bot

I have 4k btc to invest
Both aren’t a choice to pick from. Why?
You never get to do any of the intellectual work and you learn nothing from either copy trading or letting a bot handle your trading for you.
In both methods, there could be a swift change and your likely not to get notified, don’t get to change your stands and consequently, be met with loses that would be beyond your comprehension or you just can’t accept.

You’ve got $4k, good. Perhaps you could invest it in some familiar project or investment. It mustn’t be crypto or crypto related but should you be needing a crypto investment, you could as well buy bitcoin and hodl. The halving isn’t far now and speculations on a bullrun could make your investment worth the while.
1231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin experience a more price increase during the halving? on: July 08, 2023, 09:02:42 PM
So, when institutions come in, and their bitcoins are custodied by them.
Are the bitcoins on the market becoming scarcer? plus, because there will be a halving?
Bitcoin can have demand grow against supply which increases at a fixed rate but we will not have scarcity in Bitcoin where there is not enough to meet up with the demand. Institutional investors will not be able to take away majorrt of Bitcoin from circulation.
I don’t really follow through when you say demand growing against supply happens in a fixed rate. Can you add more details to it?

My ideas leaves me with the impression that these could only happen differently and at an unprecedented rate since, there isn’t a fixed time for any of the activities to happen in the market and you don’t have same turn out of investors or traders on the market at a particular period.

This makes me a bit hesitant or perhaps I don’t understand when you say, the “demand grows against supply at a fixed rate”.
1232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing doesn't guarantee you to be rich on: July 08, 2023, 08:32:46 PM
The majority of the investors and traders have misconception on investments because they think that they will easily become successful by putting their hard earned money in bitcoin and other assets without understanding that it is just the foundation and they need to work really hard and follow the other steps to beat the market and able to have gains in their portfolio.
It’s the concept that has gotten many scammed. I get the idea that you can have your money work for you but, it’s the idea that has been capitalized upon by those that run ponzi schemes and have gotten many scammed in the past years and even up to this day.

It has in a way entertained laziness with investors who aren’t willing to do the needed work but have there eyes set on profit making. Trying to have others take the most risks haven’t made all there speculations and all while, you be at the receiving end. Sadly, this haven’t turned out well for most.

The world has never been that simple and won’t be. You’ve got to be willing to do the dirty job, be at the board with the tools until you’re well enough to equip people to do that for you.
1233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What makes Bitcoins valuable? on: July 07, 2023, 11:33:06 PM
Today BTC is becoming more stable then dollar
Just how true is this?

Just a stroll to the charts and coinmarketcap would tell you, bitcoin has varied by 0.05% in the past hour and 0.99% in the past 24hours as at the time of this comment . This tells you just how unstable bitcoin is and it would continue to swing back and forth as it should be.

It’s a highly volatile market and you shouldn’t be expecting a stability in bitcoin price let alone, to compare it with dollar. Even the Tether USDT that is dollar pegged has got a 0.00% variance on it in the past hour and even 24hours so, it just doesn’t go.
1234  Economy / Economics / Re: What's is daily budgets or expenses as a bitcoiner? on: July 07, 2023, 09:33:50 PM
I know everybody is not in a same class but still we all do budgeting, expenses and impulse. How much do spend a day? Do you think is possible to program your daily expenses?
Daily expenses isn’t something you could easily put a tag on as, it varies so much due to the day. In fact for some, you’re more likely to spend more money on a weekend than you would do on regular days. Even still, some days of the week might turn out to be more demanding than others.
Should you put your considerations on a monthly base, that could be tagged but, t doesn’t feel so cool declaring what my expenses through a month might be like. It’s something I consider private and should stay that way.
Don’t know what it is to you though @OP.
1235  Economy / Economics / Re: Fix the money, Fix the world. on: July 07, 2023, 09:22:48 PM
The Rich/Government has used money as a tool to oppress the poor in a way that they practically use it to control everything in the world with the help of financial institutions.
According to your topic, "fix the money, fix the world", the problem of the world is more than the currency control.
Through out the history of mankind, there have always been issues and some form of social stratification composed largely of your worth and acquisition through a persons lifestyle.
If it could be that these forms the bases of the separation of people in the society into classes, having some form of stability with the income and means to earnings would help to reduce the level of suffering for most.

One thing is for sure though, there would always be some form of classification within the society and as much as this is vital for a stable society, we can’t neglect the little effect fixing a part of systems that could be controlling bring.

The bad news is, it ain’t going to happen.
1236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kyc for accounts or wallets on: July 07, 2023, 02:43:23 PM
Are there really any wallets that require a KYC procedure in order to be used?

Aren't you talking about accounts on exchanges that require KYC (like Binance - Coinbase etc.)?
My thoughts exactly after reading through the thread for a while and still kept seeing the same idea as in quote repeated across the write up!

So please before making wallet registrations always read through terms and conditions as well as privacy policy
Or rather get a hard ware wallet especially if you have large amounts of Bitcoin or other crypto currencies

Part of the Bitcoin idea was anonymous identity of users
so as an asset owner you should support this notion
DON'T FORGET TO KEEP YOUR KEYS SAFE MATE!!
OP isn’t really placing a significant difference between wallets and exchanges, sort of interchanging ideas between them both. I don’t know of any wallet that requires KYC to operate. They don’t even require you giving it a username. Naming your wallet is possible on some wallet apps but, it’s largely optional.

Should you be storing or hodling your coin on an exchange, I won’t say your doing it wrong but, hope your believes help you.
1237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the way to Prosperity for a Determined Dreamer on: July 07, 2023, 02:34:46 PM
I am trying to collect money to invest in Bitcoin for this I have decided to do agricultural work on other people's land and dreaming of investing some of the hard earned money in Bitcoin regularly. My money is small so I am trying to hold bitcoin for long term so that I can fulfill my dream.

I firmly believe that there is a possibility of achieving a large amount of money in the future. My teacher advises me to hold my investments on bitcoin for longer period ‍so that i can achieve the greatest success in my life.
One thing I was trying to understand is how the poor that basically operate a system of from hand to mouth for a means of survival would have a good enough amount to invest in bitcoin and hodl for a long term. Good enough you’ve devised a means and seems willing to go through the stress of not having yo enjoy your immediate earnings in hopes of better tomorrow. I do hope that works for you, still

I feel you’re putting a whole lot of expectations on the innovation and I hope you understand that it takes a lot of time for this sort of expectation to come through.

Welcome to the forum and hope you do well here.
1238  Economy / Economics / Re: I cannot go home if I don't make a lot of money now!! on: July 06, 2023, 09:38:03 PM
tell me anything i need to do to make a lot of money. doesn't matter what, i would do anything to get all the money, even if it mean unlawful and unethical!
Before now, I didn’t know if a person that could shout this out loud but you did and that makes you a worthy candidate for some DT ratings. One who could do anything could go as far as selling this forum if that were possible but still, I feel that’s a lot of exaggeration.

Be it as it may, I don’t know what nation you reside, either to be English speaking but, your writing would be some place to start. Perhaps if you could fix your English and writing, you might have a chance at some firm or programs that would be in need of your services.

Find ways to be useful to society and society would find you. Kick out unlawful things out of your ideas, you won’t get very far. The law eventually catches up to you and then, it all won’t be worth it.
1239  Economy / Economics / Re: Social media, now looking more for business than for socializing. on: July 06, 2023, 09:23:11 PM
Those who are taking advantage are people who are practical, knowing the influence of social media can bring them or generate them
good amount of profits.
The internet was meant to connect the world as a global village. It spells, World Wide Web, an interconnection and within its sphere exists social medias amongst others through which, communities have been built.
Not taking advantage of the opportunities it provides by linking prospective customers with sellers or products and services would be not taking full advantage of the situation.

After all, the very bitcoin we’ve got today evolved from being just a currency to an asset of value. With social media not being some place to reach out to lives once, make new friends and get some humor, earning of it is a big plus and many ought to utilize this.
1240  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: New KuCoin kyc policy!!! on: July 06, 2023, 09:03:17 PM
Dis one no shock me say this update dey come out just before the bull market wey be say investors go begin full the crypto market wey dey come ahead. E dey always surprised me when Kucoin no be decentralized exchange but an average player for the centralized exchanges industry yet e still dey run no KYC parole and SEC never come for them. Well I been know say na just a matter of time before dem go join others dey begin dey make am compulsory say make we all run our KYC verification. See eh e no bad when this centralized exchange dey request am because they're mandated to know their customers to avoid any mumu business wey men wan use their exchange dey run.
The dimension way you take for this one na watin i no been reason shah but, na the real matters way fit follow be this. E fit still be say, them dey prepare themselves for the policies way fit come rock there house later in the bullrun via say, come the pump in bitcoin price, na so you go find out say, all those agencies like SEC them go remember there rules and go fine people to make victims.

Quote
But for the sake of privacy, those KYC no make sense and that's why we get other options wey be say people fit dey use and they stay anonymous. I just dey pity kucoin exchange because some of their customers na people wey dey run away from all this KYC wahala so as kucoin before no been dey request am.
Na risky move for them shah but, e get watin them wan avoid and e get watin them hope to gain shah. KYC or not, you go still lose customers at some point and loyal customers no go still run you via KYC. For you to Dey trade certain amount on Kucoin, e define the trust way you get with them and base on that, people way go run am dey.
