The absence of Gabriel Jesus was starting to be felt for Arsenal, Mikel Arteta played Eddy Nkentiah to fill Jesus' position. During the course of the match Nkentiah appeared less than optimal, Arteta also had no other attacking options on the bench. Arsenal appeared dull against Newcastle despite controlling the match, the difficulty of penetrating the back area of a team that has a solid defense seemed to be an alarm for Arsenal to hunt for new players in the transfer market this winter. This draw does not interfere with Arsenal position at the top of the standings, but if it continues it will be a red flag for Arsenal.

I never thought  Eddie Nketiah will be able to fill in for Gabriel Jesus in the attacking lineup but so far he has been really impressive and has produced two goals in three outings so far. I think Arsenal are still lacking more options in their attack and need new additions in theur attack to boost and strengthen their attack. Good a thing this draw doesn't bring them down to from the first position, it's no big deal just some lessons to take home and build on.

After a convincing win against Bournemouth, the Red Devils are level with third place on points. There are three more home games coming up and I look forward to watching this newly reenergized Manchester United team. Newcastle lost points, Arsenal lost points, Liverpool lost the top four, and now Man United won. There is nothing obvious in football, so Man City should focus on their next meeting against Chelsea. It's United time. Slowly, but surely, becoming a title contender. It will be possible for Manchester United fans to dream if they win the next two games in the EPL.
Manchester United were incredible against Bournemouth, this is the kind of performance level and consistency Ten Hag expects from his side and he will be happy to see them execute top performances and taking home all three points gives them that push and confidence going forward. What a disappointing result from Liverpool who have been struggling for a while to get back to top form.
1223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: January 04, 2023, 09:35:48 PM
They played an effective game throughout the match but failed to score a goal.  Thus, Arsenal lost 2 points.  Still, Newcastle this year is very strong.  It is better to gain 1 point than to lose 6 points.  Now they have to focus on other matches.  They can beat Tottenham but I think they will lose to Manchester United.  In such a case, Manchester City may even have a chance to close the point gap and lead.

The match was more like defensive match else I don't see why they weren't able to score, not as if VAR or whatsoever reason voided their goals, their efforts never came through.

What I meant by statement wasn't Arsenal persay, I wanted them to get that 3 points by all means because so many people was so depending on them winning Newcastle, so many tickets were destroyed when everyone needed the most even though they ended up with a single point and they are still at the top of the table. With yesterday conclusion, I expect bookies to start increasing their odds for Arsenal in their next few matches atleast.
I think this is the only game this season that Arsenal have gone 90 minutes without scoring a goal. Newcastle were solid defensively and held Arsenal to a goaless draw at the Emirates stadium. I was wowed at the way Newcastle defended against Arsenal and how  much they have progressed this season. Hopefully we will take home positives and come back better in the next games against Aston Villa and Manchester United.

According to reports, Arsenal are seriously interested in bringing Murdryk to their side, I read an initial bid was turned down by Shaktar who are requesting a more substantial offer something close to eighty million. Arsenal have come back with a new and improved bid hopeful Shaktar will accept the offer and proceed to signing contrats and letting the player join this January.

At Al Nassr, Ronaldo is welcomed into the Saudi Arabian league with a nice gesture.
As CR7, breaking records and contributing to the movement is what he does for Al Nassr, it's nothing new to him. A great vision attracts great opposition, but he ultimately prevails. I pray that he makes his new team soar to greatness by taking them to a higher level. As far as I can tell, this contract is kind of a win-win for both parties. It is impossible to describe how extraordinary Ronaldo is when he enters the pitch. In this stage, he is truly a record-breaker.
I have come to love Cristiano Ronaldo for not just his skills and goal scoring ability but for his impact as a footballer and an idol to young people and coming generations around the world. I'm indeed excited he finally accepted the move to Saudi to carry on a new challenge and spread motivation and hope to Asia. Ronaldo is loved by many, his name and presence attracts attention globally no wonder Al-Nassr now have over 4million followers following the club page as soon as Ronaldo's deal was announced.

Tottenham have started a quite poor form recently. There is a significant decrease in their performance in their Premier League games and it has caused them to get negative results recently. I have started wondering how this form would reflect on their Champions League matchup against Milan. I know that there is still a long time until that but they don't look like good at all. Kane has still performed solidly and scored so many goals until now. But even his effort isn't enough as long as they don't stay strong as a team.

We don't know about Milan's condition yet as they haven't played a Serie A game after the break ended. But if they have a better form until the first leg then I might start giving more chance to Milan about eliminating them. I'm still saying "might" because Milan didn't seem well against a big team in the group stage - Chelsea.

Tottenham lost a couple of vital points before the break and I expected to see improvements at the resumption of the league but it turns out the team is on the decline,  losing 5 points in two of their league games so far which is really really poor for a team of their calibre. Kane's efforts are not even enough to help Spurs win games.

I just read now (forgot which Spanish newspaper was) that Cristiano Ronaldo maybe playing in the Champions League next year if Newcastle manages to qualify which seems pretty easy so far. There is a clause in the latest contract of Ronaldo which permits him to be given on loan to Newcastle as Newcastle is owned by Saudi State Fund and therefore this move can be easily done if Newcastle qualifies.

I know that Ronaldo will be near 39 years of age if that happens and he passes on loan to Newcastle to play both on Premier League and Champions League but I think his physical condition is still at the top and most likely will be still be near the top for the next season.
Yeah Ronaldo still looks strong and ready but it is easier to judge by looks, when he fails to meet expectations it then becomes a problem and critics in the media will troll just like it happened with Manchester United which didn't end well. IMO I think Ronaldo should focus on playing for Al-Nassr where he can meet expected performance level and stay away from critics.

I think the chance that Barcelona had in the last match was a draw.  Real Madrid are now equal.  And Real Madrid still have a lot of talented players.  With which they are able to win every match to come.  But the game cannot be said.  Let's see what happens.
Real Madrid and Barcelona very productive in laliga as league giants. The both teams are very strong and have maintain a high level of competition in the last decades since existence. They both good interms of bringing in incredible signings to their team. The Los blancos have good youngsters who are eager to break records in the team, while the bluagrana also have amazing youngsters with good coaching board. More incoming results rising up between the teams.
The competition between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid may continue in the laliga table till the next El clasico will settle it.
I am very sure that in this present time we are not going to witness a draw in El clasico. There must always be a winning in one way or the other and that would make the difference.
The El clasico is such an interesting encounter between two of the top La liga teams in Barcelona and Real Madrid, the last El clasico was won by Real Madrid which they were able to beat Barcelona in a dominating and humiliating way. I'm pretty sure Barcelona will be really hurt by that game and hope to retaliate in the next meeting. My prediction is Real Madrid to win, Atletico Madrid have not been putting a lot effort to maintain consistency and I doubt they can compete with Real Madrid in the league this season.
1227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: January 04, 2023, 12:22:24 AM
Madrid with the current squad is strong enough. they don't need to make too big modifications to the squad. while Liverpool needs new energy in the team to make them stronger.
we have yet to see how Liverpool performs with their new signings. if they manage to change the game for the better. it's a threat to Madrid. but if the arrival of Gakpo requires adaptation, this is still a nightmare for Liverpool when they have to face Madrid to repeat the previous final match.
Now Real Madrid is not a club with star players, now they are very focused on the talents of young players and this has started several years ago after several of their star players started to leave Real Madrid. However, this seems to have paid off very well for Real Madrid, with many young players and a few senior players remaining, they are still very strong until now. For Liverpool, until now, nothing is certain, especially since their performance in the regular league is very bad. Darwin Nunez, who was considered to be able to solve the club's needs, seemed unable to do anything, now perhaps their only hope is Cody Gakpo, who is now ready to fill in Liverpool's attack line.
I'm happy with Real Madrid and the project they have going in the club. They are currently equipping the team with young and talented players not just going after big names and players making the headlines. Football is evolving and we are going into a new era and a new generation of fresh players and so far they are also moving with the trends and it has been paying off for them judging by their results they are getting in the season. Maybe Liverpool should emulate this and prepare not just for this season but for the future too.

leeds united today completed the signing of Maximilian Wöber. the center-back is leaving rb salzburg after 3.5 years and will join the premier league team of his former coach Jesse Marsch with a contract until 2027. leeds will reportedly pay a transfer fee of around €20 million, making MW one of the five most expensive austrian footballers in history.
and fc liverpool are reportedly still interested in buying wolves midfielder and portugal international Matheus Nunes

Leeds are still falling behind in terms of performance and squad quality and at this point in time they really need to make signings, not just signings but good signings that will improve the team and fit in immediately into the team. Maximilian Wöber will add strength to Leed's defense a position which they have been lacking. €20 million is a fair price to me and I consider the deal a fair deal. Hopefully they will be able to sign more because they really need to strengthen vital positions in the team.

Salernitana vs Milan match will start tomorrow. Salernitana and Milan fans are waiting to watch the game to see which team will play well. Milan has a big chance to win this match. Most people are supporting Milan.  Salernitana have not won any of their last 5 matches. They have lost 4 matches and drawn 1 match.
It looks like AC Milan has the potential to lose several of its players, Stefano Pioli has confirmed Divock Origi is still out due to a muscle injury he suffered during the training camp in Dubai United Arab Emirates, during the break for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Junior Messias and Alessandro Florenzi are both still out. Now Cedra is joined by Ante Rebic and Fode Ballo-Toure.

Thus, the total AC Milan players who will be absent in this match are 5 people. milan should get full points in their first match after the world cup break, i think milan is able to give their best game so as not to lose points against Salernitana
It is a huge blow to AC Milan losing out 5 of their players been sidelined to injuries for their coming opening game after the world cup. This will cause trouble for the manager making player selections for the game. He will have to do a squad rotation to get the best available players to feature in the game. Ac Milan wouldn't want to take any chances and wouldn't want to lose points from this game and will value a win from this game to progress further in the league.

The situation at Liverpool is increasingly becoming an issue the club will need to make a big decision soon. At this stage Liverpool needs to be winning games and taking home all three points from each game to close up the gap difference and making the top four spot to qualify for the Champions league next season. They have already missed out of the chance to compete for the title this season and missing out of champions league also wouldn't be an option, Klopp needs to step up or might have to step down at some point.
1231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: January 03, 2023, 06:28:19 PM
I wonder if Espanyol can achieve a technical victory over Barcelona? I strongly doubt it, but the current situation is puzzling - even if the three-match suspension of Lewandowski is canceled, in any case, having received a red card, he should have missed the game with Espanyol, but he took part in it. The situation looks super absurd. I hope that at least by January 8th, the court decision will be made and we will see the "legitimate" development of events and not this absurdity when a disqualified player takes part in the game violating the rules.

To be honest, I also really didn't expect that the red card penalty that Lewandowski received could be suspended like that, I don't think there has ever been such a case before. With that incident too, I really don't understand Barcelona, does Barcelona really have the many privileges it has.
Just imagine, from the financial cases that happened before, basically when a team has experienced a bad financial decline, they won't be able to buy many players. But strangely, Barcelona didn't even just buy a lot of players, but Barcelona could buy a lot of luxury players, which seemed to have something or something special about Barcelona that seemed difficult to disclose or investigate.

But apart from that case, Barcelona still couldn't win in that match, which basically on paper Barcelona would win easily.
But the fact is that even their players in that match got a red card and in fact, Xavi also got a yellow card in that match. So with the privileges that Barcelona have but still, they are still difficult to win in that derby match and I hope that with all these cases Barcelona will prove to be a foul because this team is very strange and makes no sense to me.
It is no longer surprising to me anymore how Barcelona manage to manipulate their way out of these restrictions, penalties and suspensions. I'm sure they have some sort of upper hand in the the Spanish football affairs that helps them override and sort they way out of this situations which other clubs don't get same privileges. This scenarios need to be investigated properly and made sure there is fair play.

I think that yesterday's defeat of Liverpool has shaken their self-confidence very much. Now their backlog from the top 4 is again large and even with the fact that there is still a month and a half before the game with Real, they will not have time to correct this, so this factor of pressure on Liverpool will remain. Real, on the contrary, from the first round after the restart of the season, they have adjusted their business (thanks to the fact that Barcelona lost points) and their prospects look solid.
It is interesting if the events continue to develop as they are developing now (Real shows a reliable game and Liverpool is unstable) whether the bookmakers will change their opinion that Liverpool is the favorite in this pair.
It is shocking to see Liverpool who gave Manchester City a tough fight for the league trophy until the end of the campaign last season now struggling to win games and secure points to stay up in the top four. I always thought the Issue was Mane's departure but since then Liverpool have made a couple of good signings including Nunez and now Cody Gakpo and thing seem the same. Who would have thought Liverpool will lose 3-1 to Brentford yesterday. If this results keep coming I fear we might be seeing the end of Klopp's era for Liverpool.

Arsenal and Newcastle have quite an interesting history in the English Premier league. Looking at their past five head to head games. Newcastle have won just one of the games and Arsenal have won four out of the five games. I think this time it will be tougher because Newcastle are not the same team they were a year ago, I predict both teams to score in the match.

Quote from: Pulsar77
I have no doubt that the other big title contenders must be wishing Liverpool to eliminate Real Madrid in this stage.  Grin

Because maybe Real Madrid don't have the strongest squad on paper but they have been reigning in the Champions League for long years. They know how to deal with any kind of opponent here very well. The previous season was a good example for that. They were almost being eliminated by Manchester City though but they even made a comeback in such situation. This is an opportunity for Liverpool to have some revenge on them as well actually. Because Real Madrid have a strong history against them. Liverpool are much stronger here now comparing to their EPL effort. But let's see.
Liverpool can win this trophy to break record in this season because, they started improving in some competition which they will surely display them in this UEFA champions league competition. It will be difficult for Liverpool to miss this opportunity because, many people are expecting them to win all their games to stand in a position to win this trophy to make their coach happy.
In my opinion, I think the other teams competing in the champions league will be scared of facing Real Madrid in any level of the competition because of their outstanding records in the competition especially their streak of beating top teams against all odds last season to lift the trophy. I also believe if Liverpool can eliminate Real Madrid other teams will be glad to see it happen. I can't wait to see how that game turns out.

PSG have spent so much money to build the team up to the level it is at the moment with the aim of challenging for not just the League trophy but European trophies too, unfortunately they have not been able to achieve the main purpose of the big spendings, they still have not been able to win the champions league so this is a major issue the club will expecting the manager to solve at the club. They have the players but yet have not been able to achieve this for the club.

Atletico's form is way below the level we have know Atletico Madrid to play in past years, this is raising much concerns in the club and I wonder if It could be that Simeone's tactics are old fashioned and other opponents are able to predict and outplay him. I know Atletico Madrid are strong in terms of squad quality so I wonder what could possibly be the cause of the decline. It is already late and Atletico will not be able to compete for the league title this season anymore because Real Madrid and Barcelona have extended the gap between them which will be difficult to catch up.

I'm very excited and at peace not that the whole Ronaldo saga is now laid to rest. Big congratulations to my forever GOAT for the move to Al-Nassr making him the most paid footballer in the world right now. The deal also comes with other guaranteed job opportunities in Saudi Arabia which to me is another notable achievement for him. Finally he will get some peace and rest of mind from all the troubles from Manchester United.

and finally in the 78th minute Rashford was able to score a goal. and put Manchester United ahead at the moment. and the temporary score is 0-1.

Rashford scored a second goal within 10 minutes of the first, but it was ruled out by VAR. Rashford has improved significantly since the World Cup break. With a player of Rashford's intensity and courage, Manchester United will undoubtedly have a savior to win them matches in every game.
Wolves, on the other hand, have been playing well as well, but there haven't been many chances to convert into goals yet; the game could take a turn with a few minutes remaining. Hopefully, Manchester United can keep up with a strong defense and prevent wolves from equalizing.
Coach Erik ten Hag made a very drastic decision to keep Marcus Rashford on the bench because of disciplinary issues. But the English striker who is Manchester United's highest goalscorer has proved again that he is an important player of the team. United coach should learn player management skills because he might end up losing their best players if they are not well managed. Rashford must not also be proud or indisciplined because his skills and quality might not be enough to make him a complete world-class striker he needs to be well-mannered. Congratulations to Manchester United for this difficult but well-deserved victory.

I am also impressed by Wolves performance because the team didn't show respect for Manchester United. They defended very well and also pushed some good attacking runs and goal attempts.
I read a statement Erik Ten Hag made that stated that Rashford made a mistake and did something that was against the rules and had to face disciplinary issues and that Rashford understood the consequences of his actions and as well accepted the conditions and consequences as he was lively in training before the game. I think if he is able to make the players understand the fact that there are rules and regulations as well as purnishments for faulting the rules then it is fine. I guess Rashford knows this and reacted well in the game to score the winning goal for Manchester United.

Saturday's transfer gossip:

Benfica and Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez, 21, has agreed a move to Chelsea.
However, the Evening Standard reports that this is fake news. Is this the beginning of a new football saga?
Real Madrid are ready to spend over 100m euros (£88.6m) to sign 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund and England midfielder Jude Bellingham, who is also a target for Liverpool.
Real knows that it has very old players in the midfield and is preparing for the future without Modrić and the other senators. They seem to be missing only Bellingham to create a new midfield of the future.
Jorginho, 31, wants to return to Napoli when his Chelsea contract ends, but Barcelona and Newcastle are also interested in the Italy midfielder. Everyone wants Jorginho and what will he decide in the end? In which club will he finish his football career?

Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/64128722
I also had rumours that Chelsea have agreed on terms with Enzo Fernandez whereas things are still far from completion. I noticed in transfer windows like this, media put up false stories on the net to get the attention and views from people who seek this informations from the net. Real Madrid's interest in Jude Bellingham gets more intensed by the day and I think Real Madrid are so much interesting in getting him in the January window.

It was a really tight game for Manchester United today against Wolves at home, both team created many chances but couldn't get the ball at the back of the net, Manchester United had chances to score more goals but also couldn't convert most of their chances and had to settle for a 1 goal lead which they managed to hold onto until the final whistle.
