1221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it worth it to teach older people about bitcoin technology? on: August 19, 2023, 04:51:11 PM
Bitcoin has captured the center of attention, especially with the younger generations showing keen interest in it. Yet, there are those who believe that teaching older individuals about it might not be a wise investment of time. However, we must ponder: does it carry value? This conversation revolves around the question of whether it's worthwhile to educate older generations about bitcoin.
Direct to your question; I wouldn't say it is not worthwhile but the turnaround for bitcoin won't be so bright compared to using those time on educating the younger generation about bitcoin. The future is a  digital asset future and bitcoin as a digital asset should be more focused on those under the ages of the future that's ahead, that's the only way a rapid adoption will flow. Am not saying the older generation doesn't count with bitcoin obviously they're an added bonus in the adoption but more enticing would be with the younger generation.
1222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My dream is coming close. on: August 19, 2023, 04:39:17 PM
I know it is a big or uncommon goal to achieve considering my current income. I have a big dream of owning one Bitcoin before a certain period. So when people are bothered that the price of Bitcoin is dropping, I am seeing it as an opportunity to go closer to my dream. I am in no way happy that the price is dropping but one Bitcoin will always be one Bitcoin, no matter the price today. If you are sure of bitcoin, you will not be concerned about the price today because the price in the future will always exceed the current price.I have learned from this forum that there is no need to dump your coin because of FUD, this distraction will come and go. So I am no longer reading those blogs or social media that is promoting this this fear that will make me dump my small holding and abandon my dream. My focus is to own one Bitcoin.

When you're well informed about bitcoin no amount of bearish, FUDs from social media and people will deter your dream or plan on accumulating more bitcoin. In fact, when some persons are seeing a negative in the price fall you're on the other hand seeing an opportunity to apparently increase your amount of bitcoin and that's a fantastic decision to me. Just like you OP, I had to DCA immediately the price of bitcoin dip down from 30k$ to 25k$ cause for me that's an opportunity to make profit in the next coming months of this year when the price of bitcoin will then bounce up back.
1223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: August 19, 2023, 04:27:02 PM
Agree, the changes that Rudi Garcia will make, most likely it will not make Napoli look good again like the previous season when it was led by Spalletti. If Napoli can't win against Sasuolo or Lazio, then surely they won't be able to win the Scudetto again, because we still have Inter, Ac Milan, Juventus, Roma, and there are lots of tough teams in Serie A which will likely make it difficult for Napoli to collect points.
if you look at it from the point of view of the current coach experience, it is indeed very much different, but do we all remember that this all depends on how the Napoli players are performing? what I mean is that last season Osimhen was a mainstay of Napoli and until now Osimhen is still at Napoli which means that the chance to defend the Scudetto is still very likely for Garcia even though the strategy will be different but Napoli players know how to keep performing the same as last season.
well, maybe the appearance will be very different from last season but the performance of Napoli players will still be the same as last season so do not worry too much about this problem because even though I had doubts about Napoli performance this season but after Osimhen decided to stay at Napoli I became more convinced if the Scudetto title can still be defended.
I admit that teams like Inter Milan and Roma also have good performance quality and are very tough but some of these teams are not too focused on matches in Serie A because the team focuses on the Champions League and European League.
The performance of the players depends only on the skill of the coach. If the coach can really make the team play, then with star players the team will achieve great success. But if the coach can't build the game, then even with super stars the team will lose. Remember how bad Barcelona played until Xavi came in and how well they started to play after he became the coach. Napoli has two options, good or bad after Garcia becomes coach. We will find out soon enough.
Xavi has built the Barcelona team brilliantly in just a few years. The team is one of the best teams in La Liga. This season, Xavi will want to do something great with the team in the Champions League.
Rudi Garcia is a good replacement for Spalletti who has just been made the Italian national team coach. Rudi has a good profile and despite how big a team Napoli is he's undoubtedly the right man for the job, he's just arriving and should be giving time with the team surely he will have a great impact on the players performers just as Xavi did with Barcelona. I'll give him credit that he will be able to maintain Napoli's top position in the Serie A and also taking them to extra mile in the UCL this season.
1224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 19, 2023, 03:07:18 PM
Liverpool unexpectedly conceded a quick goal from Bournemouth... Now the odds for Liverpool's win are a bit higher than they were before the game, but still the bookmakers estimate Liverpool's probable victory at 1.6... I hope that they can score two goals before the end of the game...

Just 33 minutes after the first goal, Liverpool are back into the game and leading 2-1 in the first half. Luis Diaz scored a very good ball to make it 1-1 by tapping and shooting the ball once immediately he controlled it, that was a superb one from him and as expected from an attacker. Salah was able to score the second goal with a penalty kick after Dominik Szoboszlai was fouled in the penalty area. The game have take a total turn as expected and Liverpool are in full possession of the ball now as they keep having more attacks for goals than AFC Bournemouth. Few minutes to the first half break, I expect to see a more interesting second half game.

It seems that Liverpool are quite surprised at the beginning and they are not ready and also do not understand the pattern of Bournemouth game that made him conceded easily at the beginning of the match, but over time Liverpool understood how to conquer Bournemouth, in minutet 28 and Minute 36 Making it the game with a score of 2- 1, and all of that turned around, Liverpool seemed to have been poured on how to make Bournemouth not given playing the ball with a long time, in this first half Liverpool controlled the ball up to 70% more, if Bournemmouth did not change his strategy to play, maybe the rain goals would be easy to be on Get it by Liverpool in the second half very beautiful.
Liverpool ain't performing bad at the moment but it seems their midfield needs a more tightening which was part of how Bournemouth clinched their leading goal within the first 20 minutes. I thought Wataru was gonna start in today's game helping out in the midfield which is one of Liverpool's loophole current.
The game in no doubt is going to end in Liverpool's victory as the pressure on Bournemouth seem uncontrollable for the AFC players with Liverpool not only leading in goals but also in possession and with 7 corners in the first half.
1225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: As a gambler do you have a potential winning amount limit? on: August 18, 2023, 10:25:56 PM
This is spot on, it is completely irrational to try to recover our losses, think about it if you go to a restaurant to buy some food and have a good time with your friends once you pay for your share would you ask for your money back to the restaurant?

Of course not, you were provided a service and some food which you consumed and you have to pay for them, and casinos are the same, you received a service for which you paid so it is ridiculous to think you can get away with trying to get that money back.

The contrast between your topic and the concept of gambling I discussed earlier is different. Dining at a restaurant does not offer the possibility of winning money. Gambling provides an opportunity to win. No gambler, expects a refund from the casino after losing. Instead, they will start to making another deposit or increase their bets more and more after every loss. This pattern continues until they lose everything, driven by the hope of a big win to offset previous losses. Unfortunately, this strategy often results in an inability to recover losses, fueled by a misguided belief that big wins can offset previous losses.
I see from this discussion seems to be that @masulum intention is that gambling cannot be equated with a food restaurant because gamblers who bet do not expect their money back but gambling sometimes give a lucky chance to get a big win even though it is not equivalent to the previous loss but at least the gambler can get this opportunity.
but it seems that @wxa7115 judges that gambling is like restaurant food when we come to eat and pay to the cashier for the food we have eaten and it is impossible to ask the cashier to return the money unless maybe the restaurant gives a ticket every purchase will get a number of cash draws or any gift. with this, maybe it can be almost similar to gambling because people come to look for what they are looking for and after that there is another hope of getting a win, such as people going to restaurant waiting for prize ticket to be drawn and gamblers waiting for the chance to get a win.
@len01 I am fascinated to know how many restaurants does that ticketing stuff with their customers cause it's gonna cost them a lot of money shortchanging their profits, maybe except it just for a short while that the restaurant decides to pull such string by way of promos to their customers.

@wxa7115 using restaurant in contrast to the discussion is just something outside the context IMO, because I risk nothing going to a restaurant to dine, I pay for the food and with 100% assurance that my food will be served to me but for gambling I place my bet (more like paying for my bet) buy with not 100% assurance that I will get a win (more like saying not assured that I'll be served my food.
1226  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: August 18, 2023, 10:04:52 PM
...
But why continue in what you're not proud of by keeping it secret cause maybe you're worried about what people may say, how their thoughts about your person might change. Or how you might loose ties with someone you hold dear to. And many other reasons that follows.

Those that keep their gambling habit a secret is it that they're not proud of what they are doing?.

Why should I be proud of my gambling activities, in my country there is no pride in the gambling activities that are carried out, moreover the police will continue to arrest gambling players (players or business owners) because of the strict laws that make many people label gambling activities as haram and very detrimental to citizens, even though if it is studied more deeply, the income that a country can get because of gambling is very large. I will continue to keep my gambling activities a secret from my neighbours, the level of trust others have in me will decrease if they know I gamble quite often.
If it's to the extent that police gets to arrest people that are engaged in gambling activities it goes into detail that it's unlawful in your part of the world for people to gamble, because in my country there are police officers that also gamble too and we do see ourselves in the gamblingg house as everyone minds their business gambling. For a country like yours I wouldn't blame anyone who keeps his gambling activity a secret or call say they ain't proud of it as it's the only alternative they have for their own good
1227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling by financial dependents. on: August 18, 2023, 05:16:42 PM
A family member reported to me that her eighteen years old son has started gambling. She is not worried that he is gaming but her problem is that he is a student that solely depends on her for everything he needs. Her fear is also that her son might start stealing from her if he has no access to the money he needs to gamble. My relative has even started suspecting that some money she feels was misplaced might have been stolen by her son.

I spoke to my nephew and he told me that he has never stolen from his mother to gamble. And he gambles with only his savings from his weekly stipend he receives from the family. And he won't gamble if he has no savings to do that. From my observation, he is a responsible gambler that is just enjoying the game and making a little money occasionally. The gambling age in my country is 18+, but his mother is insisting that he must stop. What will be your advice for this young boy?
I suspect the lad's mum is just paranoid seeing his son spending part of a time he's supposed to use in his studies as a student on gambling which could be a distraction agent somehow to his education. And also, just because he's a dependant and now gambling it then mean he's going to start stealing too. What she needs to do now is not to scold but to advise and counsel the boy the dangers related to gambling and why he's not in the rightful financial condition yet for him to start gambling even if he takes it as source of entertainment.

By your country's gambling age, the boy is in the rightful age to gamble just that he's not independent of himself in many ways than one, and as such he should listen to his mother's advise and apply brake in his interest to gamble not until he has started living on himself as an independent adult. There's so much time in the world for him to gamble in whatever ways he wants to but for now he should take a leave.

This raises a lot of suspicion, What is the need announcing that you are back?

Your account just woke up for the first time since 8/9/2022 and last post made even farther in the past (January 2019). What have you been up to? and why will a "Hero member" not know that making a post about them being back is unnecessary and a spam. Sad

Maybe he's just too excited to be back online with the community and he rather found it necessary to bring to the public domain about his sudden return which like you @Rruchi man I don't see a necessity.
Just in same vein we preach about keeping a low key and private about our coins as bitcoin holders it' should also extend with our in and out within the forum. Except for some obvious reasons.
1229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would We Pay Taxes When We Don't Exchange Bitcoin for Fiat Anymore? on: August 18, 2023, 04:21:36 PM
So, a senior citizen in one of the western countries makes a complaint that he preferred the 1950s when everything made sense and life was simple. He loves the analog times more than the digital. Despite this, he trusts Bitcoin self-custody, and that is the reason why he holds bitcoin. He complains that his bitcoin just sits in his hard wallet, and he doesn't even know what to do with it. According to him, his fear is that if he sells it during the next bull run, he will be taxed, and he doesn't want that. A question arises: Would taxes still be applicable if a time comes when exchanging bitcoin for fiat is no longer necessary?
Just like fiat money where people are taxed through VAT in most items they purchase, same will apply for in those countries that accepts payments with bitcoin. Except for people that are tax invaders, otherwise I don't understand why the said man is scared of paying a little token as tax for coins he has made and still would make more profit in the event of the next bitcoin ATH.
For countries like ours were there are strict policies against cryptocurrency use, if it were only a thing of tax payments we won't be having issues with it, but unfortunately different is the case.
1230  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What could be the problem here? on: August 18, 2023, 02:18:31 PM
What do we think could be the cause for a trader that has been experiencing a win and lose repetitive occurrences in his trades.

Like he places a trade today he makes profit and the next day when he places another trade he would lose it, whereas the next day he then makes another profit and lose it the next. And this happen been repeating for more than a month.

Has anyone had such experience? If yes! Then how was or could it be solved or stopped?
The situation is getting psychological.

Situations as this would mean that the trader method of approach to the crypto currency trade is inconsistent; so to fix issues as this; the trader needs to figure out the reasons for inconsistencies

  • is it down to patience or greed or rushing the decision making process?
  • is it down to avoidable errors when drawing trading charts?
Same method of approach is what it's been used in all the different times so from my end I kind of doubt of those interval inconsistencies are bond to impatience, greed or errors arising from trade chart since same measures is what it's been applied in in them all but still resulting in same ways.

Quote
  • is it down to adding values outside what the charts preach? for example; if you read that the best exit is 19.05$ but you choose 19.10$ etc
Although this point does makes much sense and could be something to look into in positioning the stop loss.

1232  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you gamble because you don't have sufficient money? on: August 17, 2023, 05:48:24 PM
I have had a friend who gambles because he does not have money. I mean whenever he sees the property he wants to buy maybe let's say a shoe or clothes that he wants to acquire for himself. He now go and gamble in order to acquire that very property.
But whenever he has money on him, he does not remember to gamble. He only gambles when he need money to do something.
After atudying his type of lifestyle, I understood that his problem was not just gambling for entertainment, he needs a better source of income and when he is financially stable, he will say goodbye to gambling. There a lot of people like that when they have good source of income that will make them leave comfortable, they will say goodbye to gambling.
A good number of gamblers gamble for the sake of money that they view gambling as a possible channel by which they can escape their impoverish condition by way of been lucky to win a life changing amount.  They're not in it for fun or the entertainment, it's only those that are rich that gamble for fun making the money side of it an added bonus.
The behavior of your friend only interprets that he knows what he's in for in gambling and peradventure he's to make a huge win someday then it's certain gambling will only be a thing of history for him.

1234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What you will do? on: August 17, 2023, 05:16:52 PM
Everyone must have experienced loss, whether it's a big or small loss. And he experienced loss more often than he won. Has anyone ever experienced boredom playing gambling because they have been losing more often than winning? If anyone has experienced this, what did you do?
It's normal feeling except that I don't know about others. For me whenever I am making streaks of losses as am gambling my energy usually drops and my interest to go on with further bets dissipates gradually and the next thing is just for me to take a break maybe concern myself with something else that will take the boredom away from my thoughts.

I often realized that after such break's the results are usually different from what it were when I later resume my bets again. I don't know how that happens buy I just assume maybe it's part of a twist of fate.

And I discovers it works for me more often than when I still continue to gamble despite feeling bored in course of the multiple losses am incurring. In gamblingg every gamble should pay attention to what conditions really worked in their favour more often and stick to it in that way, they will mitigate losses while making more wins.
1235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 16, 2023, 10:24:54 PM
This weekend Manchester City will fight against tough team Newcastle and it is very interesting to see the results of this match because we all know both teams had positive results at their first match in Premier League and i know based on meetings statistic Manchester City is more good than Newcastle but i think currently Newcastle is different that they looks very solid and since last season Newcastle has been change became an strong team and they can able reach to top 4 and last week they had just humiliated Aston Villa with huge scores 5-1 so obviously Newcastle is in the good shape especially since last month Newcastle status is still unbeatable so i think Newcastle have a potention to make Manchester City to slipped
This will certainly be the match of the weekend when Manchester City go head to head against a Newcastle side who demolished Emery’s men last weekend in a 5-1 showdown. This is a really tough one for Guardiola in the weekend that will require every player to be at their best to at-least get a point out of this fixture. I will be rooting for Newcastle United to finish victorious against the league’s defending champions.
This is one of the matches I'm looking forward to even though Manchester City are definitely the clear favourites in this match but I hope there's something more Newcastle can show in this match.
The odds on offer are also quite attractive as 1.64 for Manchester City makes quite a difference to the odds of 5.00 given to Newcastle.
But on the other hand, I think for this match the chances of either club winning is likely to be slim and I will be on Manchester City in this match.

Obviously I'm expecting something interesting from Newcastle as they are one of the biggest hopes to break back the big 4 which sometimes in some seasons the club is still the same.
With what Manchester city just did today, I think am going to go for Newcastle to have a win on that game because the so called Harland don't seem to find his stride without the help of his mastermind Kevin debryune and since debryune is out due to injury sustained in their first game Newcastle might just have an edge over city plus with the added fact that they did brilliant on their first game.
@Danny001 if I were you I won't bet on that, for the fact that Debryune won't be playing in their next game against Newcastle and also with how Aston villa were given a 5-1 humiliating win by Newcastle still doesn't give them a viable edge to win Manchester City this weekend. Guardiola is a seasoned manager that is unpredictable and always knows how to cover his lapses so much to confuse his opponent. Ask Ancelloti he would tell you he never saw Gundogan coming up with a goal in the just concluded UCL final against real madrid  previous season.
You may be focusing attention on Haaland while someone like Fodin is doing the job that's Guardiola for you.
1236  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Is there a site where you can withdraw without deposit? on: August 16, 2023, 09:39:46 PM
Are there sites where you can actually withdraw coins? I mean gambling sites. It doesn't have to be a lot of money, but I used to have the impression that there were more sites like this and it was much easier to withdraw free money. I know there is freebitcoin that gives you free btc every hour, duckdice is also a faucet - do you know any other sites you can recommend?
Even I do know of any of such gambling sites I won't dare waste my time on it because nothing free about gambling sites that ends up in favour of the customer. The barricades (conditions) that ought to be met for eligible withdraw is time consuming and most times not possible. One thing I understand about those free bitcoins is thay it's a market strategy used in attracting clients to make use of their gambling sites without having to use your personal money which the likelihood is that after being unlucky exhausting the free token you might wanna fund the account to continue making use eventually real gambling has kicked off in that aspect. Lol.
1237  Economy / Economics / Re: China Setting up mBridge against US Swift Ban on: August 16, 2023, 08:48:27 PM
The obvious implication is it will allow for countries to circumvent U.S. sanctions but that's predicated on how willing a country is willing to adopt yuan. The Chinese economy, contrary to what people might believe, is unstable and dwindling; thus by proxy, yuan is too. Would countries be more willing to hold yuan oppose to USD? Perhaps if they had no choice, it's an attractive alternative.
States that not in at par with the USA would be very ready to adopt the Chinese yuan against the dollar so long as the decision creates a pathway for them to circumvent whatever U.S  economic sanctions putting a hold on them.  Russia, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and Iran IMO are countries that are likely to adopt the Chinese yuan as they have been the few countries that are supportive of dedollarisation campaign in recent times.
1238  Economy / Economics / Re: It ain't meant to be easy on: August 16, 2023, 08:11:08 PM
We all wish life was easier, but it's not so we've got to make do with what we have.

The degree you want, the career you want, and the business you dream to have won't come easy. I'm of the notion that life doesn't want you to succeed. If you run away from every obstacle then you will never achieve your goal.

I keep seeing forum members make complaints about not getting merits and all. It will be very hypocritical of me to say we shouldn't care about merit and ranking up, but your desire to rank up should lead you in the right direction.
The goal is to learn and grow, then make meaningful contributions that can grow other forum members. It's not going to be easy, and it will take time, but it will be worth it in the end.

This doesn't only apply to the forum but to every aspect of life.
Take a business for example.
The goal of a business is to make a profit but you can't make a profit if certain things are not done right. If you just pursue profit without thinking about other factors, your business will fail.
If your product/service is top-notch, your marketing, packaging, and distribution are done right along with other factors, you will make a profit.
The same thing applies to every aspect of life. A degree, career, or anything at all.

If your first encounter with crypto was a scam altcoin, it doesn't mean you should wash your hand off of crypto. If you're still interested in it, learn from that bad situation and gain more experience from it.

If you previously made an investment in Bitcoin and you lost, it doesn't mean you should give up on Bitcoin; learn from it and re-evaluate your decision.

So don't think Bitcoin and Bitcointalk are any different from life.
You may look at a forum member with legendary rank and you want to achieve that, it's good that that motivates you, but you have to know that they didn't just achieve that overnight. They learned, grew, improved themselves, and improved others to get to that level.
Whatever you want, work hard and smart for it because it won't be handed to you on a platter.

Generally, nothing good in life comes easy you have to pay a price for whatever kind of situation, condition or position you want to attain in life. Doing the extraordinary in your line of business, or even in the forum puts you closers to your desired expectations in life.  In the forum for instance, for you to grow in ranks you must learn and grow yourself as a person in knowledge and that knowledge would in turn reflect in your discussions in the forum determining your merit attractions by the quality of what you give out.

Same with business, some people are not growing in their line of business because they are redundant with old knowledge of what they knew before starting the business, while their counterparts in same business have gone ahead of them paying for advance courses training and learning about the new innovations and techniques that have evolved about their business, they now put in all these new acquired knowledge into their business causing it to attract more customers and growth. The simple thing about growing in life is doing what others are afraid or procrastinating to do, that's what distinguishes your levels of successes.

I'm a student still studying, and I've been putting away some money from my trust fund over the last 3 years. Because money doesn't seem to buy as much as before in my country and maybe even everywhere, I'm thinking about what to do with my savings. I've been hearing about this thing called cryptocurrency and Bitcoin. People say you can buy Bitcoin and become really wealthy. Even one of my classmates told me the same thing.
Here we go again! Another wrong misinformation about how bitcoin works. My friend your classmate or whoever told you that by buying bitcoin you're gonna be rich is nothing falling short of a misinformation, bitcoin isn't a get rich quick money-making-machine so if you get in with such mentality you will only crash along the way after couples of disappointment.

I talked to my classmate, and he said I could learn about it on my own because there's a lot of information out there. That's how I ended up finding this forum. So, here's what I want to know: Is it a good idea if I use the money I've saved up from 3 years of my trust fund to buy Bitcoin?
Good a time you ended up finding yourself in bitcointalk community and it's an opportunity for you to learn about how bitcoin really function therefore unlearning yourself those misinformation you were giving about getting rich immediately you invest in bitcoin. Investing in bitcoin you need to give your investment time and with series of follow up. Knowledge is a key factor in bitcoin investment without which you are bound for a loss.
