It was funded March 20th this year. I remember freaking out because it was in the mail during the blockchain fork, and I was a nOOb then!

Thanks for the advice and any offers sent, but I sold it today to a local friend of mine for cash. Talked him into it since he has no bitcoins until now. He paid me Gox weekly average plus 10%. Off to the car dealership with the nasty fiat he gave me.

You're bringing 12k to the car dearship in cash? Could you let us know how that goes? No snark intended.

I brought 26K in total and it went fine (so far). I did have to fill out an IRS form since it was over 10k. I knew the dealer and he told me they never look into where the cash is from, just if you get caught doing illegal activities (tax, fraud, drugs, laundering, etc..) they will be able to take the purchased item from you since the money could be from said activity.

Bill Gates will convert 50% of his wealth into bitcoins soon. What price should we expect?

If he bought every bitcoin, along with Satoshi coming back and putting his coins up for sell, we could expect 2800 a coin at least. That rpietila guy says 1 million are spec coins, in that case 33,000 USD each.  BRING IT BILL, BRING IT!  Although if he had all the coins they wouldn't matter much, unless you are a miner  Wink

Rampion- I get that,  actually said that yesterday after he took his wall down, but the huge addition to the ask side just make the situation a little different since its pretty much the same amount and within one day... huge coincidence if its 2 different people.

Also, what does he do if he only has fiat? He could have made all that cash on the last bubble, and at the first sign of good news he wants back in. In that case, reread my last past about this.

So funny to see people talking about the boogie man with his "WALL"....

 Grin

Am I in the wrong thread? This is the wall observer huh? Wink

Beware: aprox. BTC15K just appeared on the order book. That could be a nice round of bullets for the bears, prepare your bids and fasten your seat belts.

http://www.blockchained.com/depth_mtgox_15d.png

Do you see the sudden drop in the Bid Sum from Monday? That was most likely wallzilla taking down his wall to buy coins. You see the sudden spike in the Ask Sum for today? That is likely wallzilla putting his new coins on the order book. He must have spread them out for profit taking instead of a huge sell wall that would likely take time to sell through. It DOES NOT mean he is going to take down all those orders he just placed and market dump. True bears will come out of nowhere and drop 15k coins.

I didn't see the wallzilla buying $2M coins in market orders earlier today, sorry. That would have triggered quite of a rally. In fact, what I saw is a BTC2Kish dump just immediately after wallzilla removed his bids (you can see it on ask sum graph too).

IMO, we should be testing $100 soon.

You actually lose money market buying or market selling, compared to setting up a wall and waiting. Well, wallzilla was waiting on the crazy typical bear to come along over the weekend, and he didn't. So he took down his wall. That we know. What we don't know is what happened next with him. Did he just make small buy orders multiple times and now has all his coins on the sell side? That's what I think, and not some random bear adding 2 mil to the ask side to drive the price down. If he did what you said and just "gave up" and took down his wall, that is even more scary, to know that there is that much cash waiting off the books to ride this thing upwards. And if that is the case, then it's very bullish. Lets just say he sees the price go down to 110, where he had his wall, do you think he will just keep letting it fall? Close to 100 like you say? I doubt it, unless he is stupid, which makes me wonder where he got that cash from if he is that stupid. He would put up his wall again and get the coins he was looking for. But I think he has them already, even if he didn't get them until we got in the 120 range.

Wallzilla, if you are out there, put your wall back up, so we know what is going on. If he does, then it's obvious my opinion was wrong. If we keep moving up, something tells me he who has 2 million is smart enough to already be on the train.

Y'all are being trolled  Grin

A rule-of-thumb:

- Blockchain transactions to your offline-generated wallets are real.
- Everything else is probably fake.
- The wall observer is a joke, since we make the walls. Others observe them.

A rule-of-thumb:

-Don't send bitcoins to anonymous user in hopes they send it back just to "prove" you have more coins than you sent.
-Don't make "bitcoin will never hit $X" statements, it makes you look foolish.
-Observing you is a joke lol

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I am having a hard time determining if rpietila is misunderstood and is actually worth listening to, if he is trying real real hard to manipulate price, or is just really friggin weird?  Does this mean I am being trolled? Lol

Wall at $120 growing.

Lol thats the best gif.
I wouldn't have done the three point turn. Right on up over the curb for me, gentle, don't want to blow my tires, but damn no way I'm bothering with a three pointer, AHHA.
I like the way for the first like 10 seconds he's just sitting there like 'WTF' and then he finally realizes that its probably time to go.

Screaming as he drives away "I should have got the turbo model, I should have got the turbo model"
1231  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 06, 2013, 03:54:04 AM
wall gone

Wonder if his real wall was the sell wall at 120, and now we free fall to 90, hmmm...

I bet he got tired of waiting on a bear to come along, but they are either scared or hibernating, so he was the person behind the recent rise from 116 to 122, which was about the same amount of BTC the wall was. I guess a quick check of the depth would sort of confirm this.

But the wall didn't diminish in that time.

Thats right, you can't set a buy order, then buy at market, then take down your buy order anymore unless you have the funds to cover it. My bad!

He probably had a lot of coin in the 120 range he wanted to sell, and forced the price into it?

Good luck with your sale! There are two car dealerships that take Bitcoin, one in Dallas and one in Kansas, IIRC.

Thanks! I will research those dealerships before I cash anything out. I have my eye on a nice Jaguar but the seller refused bitcoin. If they have anything I like I would rather purchase with bitcoin, to, you know, help out the bitcoin community.
1234  Economy / Goods / Re: 100BTC Casascius Gold Plated Bar on: May 06, 2013, 03:13:00 AM
Such a shame you have to get rid of it. Out of curiosity, how much would the gold alone be worth?

I would also be interested in that question, wouldn't it be wise OP to hold off a little longer for a rise in price.

No clue about the worth of the gold. My plan was to keep this for 5+ years, but I totalled my vehicle and need a new one. I bought this when the price was in the 20s so I've seen enough profit to let it go now. I have other Casascius coins that I will most likely never sell, so I don't mind letting it go.

If I have no clue what to even price this bar at, so I was trying to gauge interest, and start an auction. Or like I said above, if I receive an offer that I deem acceptable I would be willing to sell it straight up, for BTC that I can then cash out, or cash in person. I would HATE to rip the sticker off this beauty, but I know not many ppl are willing to throw over 100BTC for purchases. I guess I will give it a few days, and continue to pay for my rental car.
1235  Economy / Goods / Re: 100BTC Casascius Gold Plated Bar on: May 06, 2013, 01:06:56 AM
Looks beautiful, just to clarify are the 100 BTC still on it?

100BTC still on it, never been tampered with, I put it in two of the little plastic cases that comes with the Casascius 25 coins the day I received it, and its been stored for safe keeping since. I also have 2 2011 25BTC coins that I thought about selling as well, but what I am needing to buy cost more than 50+BTC.  Its a shame car dealerships do not take bitcoin yet, but one day!

Gauging interest on starting an auction for my 100BTC bar!

1237  Economy / Goods / 100BTC Casascius Gold Plated Bar on: May 05, 2013, 11:08:42 PM
I am gauging interest to sell my 100BTC Casascius Gold Plated Savings Bar to a forum member for BTC before I throw it up on eBay for a bigger profit. Thing is all I have left are Casascius bars and I need to cash some out quickly, and would hate to just peel the sticker off, and I despise paypal. If enough people are interested, I will start an auction with escrow from a trusted member (prefer John K if he is willing). OR I will sell it straight up if I get a good offer (prefer PM, escrow as well if needed, cash or bitcoin).

Yeah, a supernode with a few hundred thousands $ + a few thousands BTC. Man, it's cheap to be a "supernode" in the BTC world! So what's Loaded or KnightMB... Or Gavin BTW?

According to my classification of supernodes, roughly the following amounts of bitcoins, coupled with the actual abilities to use them profitably, entitle you to the supernode status:

0.0th class supernode = BTC1M
0.5th class supernode = BTC100,000
1.0st class supernode = BTC10,000
1.5th class supernode = BTC3,000
2.0nd class supernode = BTC1,000
2.5th class supernode = BTC300
3.0th class supernode = BTC100

Yes, I also think it is ridiculously cheap to be a supernode. But don't worry, it will become more expensive when the time is ripe. As I have been trying to say, in my view Bitcoin is insanely undervalued Wink

Woohoo I am a supernode! (means nothing)

With Pyramid schemes, in the end, you end up holding something useless. Bitcoin has many many uses. Even if you were the last person to buy in, at the last all time high, you can still use it for something. You might get burned 5% because the price just dropped after your all time high purchase of the coins, but the things you buy with bitcoin are usually discounted or way easier to buy than with any other currency. So, pretty much, your statement is 100% fud bud!

5 hours and my Paypal payout still MIA.  Any guess on when it will be sent out?

I got it. Was a little nervous due to my first try. Will do business again! Thanks
