Litecoin could see a bullish push above the $100 level, could this lead to a bullish trend? Learn more in this short TA:

https://coincodex.com/article/4325/litecoin-price-analysis-ltc-leads-bullish-push-as-bulls-attempt-a-move-above-100/

Mr. Obvious here:

LTC crypto miners are mostly all underwater at anything below $100 LTC.

So according to this https://www.litecoinblockhalf.com/ in 2 days and 16 hours the LTC halving will occur.

Thus those underwater now (IMHO, 80% of LTC miners vs electricity) at $100 bucks will be 2x the trouble after LTC halving.

thus $100 LTC you mine now, after halving, will be the equivalent of mining LTC NOW at the $50 buck price for LTC.

Ugly, Ugly, Ugly.

Introducing the Bitcoin Difficulty Ribbon. When the ribbon compresses, or flips negative, these are the best time to buy in and get exposure to Bitcoin. The ribbon consists of simple moving averages on mining difficulty so we can easily see the rate of change in difficulty.

via Imgflip Meme Generator

https://twitter.com/woonomic/status/1156968533462413313?s=21

I wonder if difficulty will ever start to just somewhat settle especially with node size getting harder and harder to shrink.

We should see a dump in some BTC difficulty soon. There was a lot of ASIC makers who made 50/50 handshake deals with hydro utils in China because of excessive rain

and excess electric. you let us run our outdated or stuff we can't sell for free and we will split the coin with the hydro power you bleed off.

I should google and see if China this summer has started to dry up yet.

If/when it does, I'd 'guess' you will see a drop of 20% or some such.

But people being people it likely will not matter much to BTC difficulty and will pop right back up again, even if my guess is right.

Betting on Moon seems to be the crypto pastime, with ASIC miners as the 'chips' Smiley

If anyone wants to understand Roach and rebal15 then watch this documentary
https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/proginfo/2019/29/inside-the-secret-world-of-incels

"This brand new documentary for BBC Three offers a never-before-seen look at the incel community, an online subculture linked to multiple mass murders and hate crimes against women."

Don't get why people just don't put Roach on /ignore.

I did so 5-6 years ago. I'm happy.

Roach is happy he does not have to deal with me.

It is a win/win.

Just saying.

Sry, i don’t get your Point. Profit from mining will be reduced but it’s still profitable?
Even Bitcoin (and a lot of altcoins) has this “problem” in the past, they keep mining in hope one day the return of investment will be positive.

the overload will be too much IMHO if Bitmain L3's and L3+ units go off the network at these prices.

The question is IF everything that mines even at above $150 price of LTC, can't justify the price vs electric..who is gonna mine?

Never saw it this likely to lose 3/4 of hashing ON TOP OF the price vs difficulty as it is now.

Just saying a variety of factors that are gonna make things worse in the short term

Also, in the PAST new Scrypt-pow miners at better efficiency usually was an option around these kinda events, I don't see any investment in such at this

time to mitigate the above either.

Anyway, 3 or more effects combining to make this very 'interesting' on how all this will play out mining/cost of coin/and LTC in general

again, hope I don't know what the F*ck I'm talking about, but looks 'sharp-edged' at every angle I can see in the short term at least for LTC price and adoption

with above drama.

We have temporary 5 Brand New [/b] T2T 30T[/b] in stock on sale. They are delivered yesterday from Hong Kong.
Location: Cargober LLC / TeslaWatt LLC at Gardnerville Nevada ZIP 89410 / USA
Price: $1550 per unit.

email: sales@cargober.com
Cell: +1 424 274 2804

I see the tariff is included in this price. Makes a bit more sense, assuming I have my prices correct.

brad

I already bought them
*edit* Thanks Cargober Ill send feedback when Milan has them hashing a few days.

Good for you. I can't justify such. By the By what are you paying for electric where you are at, to justify these units at current prices for coin?

Hopefully, this is not off-topic on here and others are also curious on this thread.

Also, let us know how it all works out.

https://www.coindesk.com/litecoin-is-halving-soon-whats-happening-and-what-you-should-know?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=coindesk&utm_term=&utm_content=&utm_campaign=Organic%20

A rule embedded within litecoin’s (LTC) code is set to soon reduce rewards for the miners who today ensure transaction processing on the world’s fourth-largest blockchain by total value.
Litecoin price over the last 30 days via CoinDesk data.

In approximately five days, litecoin will undergo a scheduled reward halving – a process aimed at preserving cryptocurrency’s purchasing power.
The mining reward is currently set at 25 litecoins ($2,500) per block and will drop to 12.5 litecoins ($1,200) per block on Aug. 5.

With that transition, the protocol will be adding significantly fewer litecoins to the market after Aug. 5.

It is gonna be interesting in the ancient Chinese Curse of Interesting: May you live in interesting times!

So, again, (see previous posts on this thread), IMHO, I think about 75% of all LTC Scrypt-pow miners are Bitmain L3's or L3+'s.

Thus they are underwater at these prices. As of now, that is $96.65 LTC at say 10c kWh. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/litecoin/

So as far as Bitmain units in relationship to LTC difficulty mining we could see a lot of stuff dump, and then if the price was to recover a lot of Yo-yo'ing

of mass amounts of difficulty being turned off and on in an attempt to beat difficulty when down with the prices and driving difficulty up when all these

SAME low hanging fruit and these units try to get back on at a profit ..then off .then on...could be in for interesting times.

Of course, If LTC prices stay under say $150, then the network will go down in difficulty I mean way, way down.

But still would be modest to downright embarrassing on what you would be making and dubious ROI on even the $3,000 USD at  2.2gh 2100 watts Innsolicon A6+ which

I list here https://www.innosilicon.com/html/a6+-miner/index.html

Here is profit as of this moment for one of these, again, before HALVING in like 4-5 days for LTC.

Currently making at 10c kWh $1.36 per day!

According to the ASIC Miner Value Page here: https://www.asicminervalue.com/miners/innosilicon/a6-ltcmaster-1.

Assuming all is the same more or less price wise etc on the LTC

halving that would be, again after halving 68c a day!

Damn, that is downright embarrassing. Of course, some $$$ would be made if my view of the Bitmain L3 and L3+

making up the vast majority of LTC miners. But again, even after all that shook out, this could be disastrous for Litecoin as a viable coin at a viable price.

Anyway, I won't get into what this might do to price or HODL or anything else.

Just saying from the mining point of view, IMHO, this looks pretty dire. I mean to me, really, really dire!

Some PR from the Litecoin Foundation on Mimblewimble and/or halving and/or other efforts/or other progress/or something would be helpful.

But alas, deafening silence. Sad

Anyway, my 'suspected' fears and rant on this.

Hope I'm dead wrong!

Shelby has been advancing the proposition that Craig has access to enough currently dark mining power to couple the potential dumping attack with another attack of miners reverting to the original protocol (still possible under the so-called 'soft' fork), claiming all funds in SegWit addresses (which are of course pay-to-anyone under the previous rules, which are still valid as there was never a hard fork). This would force Core to either accept the loss of all such funds, or hard fork off to a parallel chain, where the protocol fully invalidates this earlier ruleset. Indeed, Shelby thinks this attack (irrespective of whether or not CSW has anything to do with it) to be an inevitability at some point.

Shelby has been predicting the death of Bitcoin for as long as I have been here.  Eventually he will be right.

Yes, the "Heat Death of the Universe" will eventually see to that. Smiley

1232  Economy / Economics / Re: The Central Bank of Facebook on: July 30, 2019, 08:44:18 PM
-snip-
Facebook currency will become a reality because there is nothing one can actually do to stop the technology from being released, they have every right to apply what will benefit them, but it will never gain the market dominance as we think, do you know how many countries that we have in this world, and each of them have their own policy, and so far they still have law in place that the citizens fear, then nothing to worry about Facebook coin.

Before Facebook coin can really gain that popularity in any country, then the government of each country must have accepted it which like you say will be impossible because everyone wants to protect their own currency, in fact starting from china and India alone, Facebook coin is already a failure being that they have the largest population in the whole world.

I think you are correct. Indeed, if for some reason Facebook as a lead partner or with someone else in the lead partnership they are never allowed to make their own crypto, well, IMHO,

all Facebook would have to do is BUY Bitpay for say what 100 billion USD? Thus, bingo bango...they got their crypto they can data mine users about use and shopping of such,

which is the real reason for crypto, that data for ads, etc. Can't really beat up Facebook for using a service that has been in play for what 10 years?

This very well could be their backup position.

So the reason for their own crypto is they wanted complete control, but nothing I think could stop them from being just

another vendor or Bitpay and/or owner.

Anyway, my 'meandering' view of this topic. Not that I know squat.

Litecoin appears to be still in the bear market. Can we expect a breakout soon?
Read more in this TA:

https://coincodex.com/article/4159/litecoin-price-analysis-when-will-the-bear-market-end-for-ltc/
Litecoin actually went its far ride (its bottom around 0.005 BTC). At Litecoin today price, investors who bought it at bottom range nearly doubled their price. Litecoin will unable to break out (if it should be called as breakout) if bitcoin won't fall down more significantly. Personally, I don't see reason why Litecoin should break out from its today price. I could be wrong and overpessimistic about Litecoin future, but who knows?

Well, my concern is as usual, Litecoin Foundation is not showing us anything of note for future tweaks to Litecoin.

Thus no info/hype etc and a lot of FUD from others on Litecoin and it just kinda piles on. Need some better PR and innovations soon IMHO from the Devs.

What they need to do is talk more about 'mimblewimble' IMHO. Not sure it would matter 2 much if even the halving in 5 days or so is not generating much press.
Could actually make things worse. Pretty sure the current Trump Administration will have a COW, once they get their head around mimblewimble.
But again, IMHO, Litecoin would AT LEAST for once do something 'daring and innovative' besides just plodding along in the shadow of Bitcoin and BTC prices as usual.

As far as mining goes for LTC, we are utterly dorked. Not sure how that will shake out, but I suspect after the halving, pretty much ALL the Bitmain L3+'s will go away.

Also, IMHO, Bitmain L3+'s comprise about 75% of all scrypt-pow miners out there.

Indeed I did the calcs on the Innsilicon A6+ LTCmaster at 2.2gh and 2100 watts in which at these prices before halving IN FIVE DAYS is currently losing, now,  -11c a day.
Also, Innsolicon still wants like $3,000 USD. NOT counting the 25% tariff and 2.6% import fees to the USA nor Shipping to the USA as an example of how out of reach this stuff is for LTC mining.

https://www.innosilicon.com/html/a6+-miner/index.htmlnfor this beast yet! Sheesh.

So, even if I am correct and the Bitmain L3+'s are lost to LTC difficulty, not a lot of fun happening with the rest either, that also doesn't seem to have enough pop to get any profit
after the halving and at the current LTC prices.

https://www.asicminervalue.com/miners/innosilicon/a6-ltcmaster-1

Sh*t is conspiring to drive down prices for LTC coin itself and mining LTC in general and the competitiveness of LTC vs other Altcoins is really, really being pressured at this time.
Whatever I'm still in HODL mode for my LTC I purchased at around an $85 USD price, back before this last pump. AM in no way mining LTC anymore though.

Just hope tougher times are not ahead.

IF YOU ARE GOING TO GO DOWN GO FUCKIN DOWN SO I CAN BUY MORE

...and i thought $5k was bad.

Getting stuck at $9-10k feels so disgusting. Don't want to buy many because dunno if it is going to go up sharply or go down and create more buy opportunities.

Sorry for caps, i lost myself a bit.

Just wanted to shout.  Grin

My Puppy price for mental comfort zone would be something above $10,100.00 USD. This is on the logic that Bitcoin was $5,050.00 on April 5th, 2019.

Thus, that is my 'happy place' price, when 'doubts' creep in, at double the price almost 4 months ago. Damn hard to get too excited by this drama above that price. IMHO.

Or so, I tell myself, treating that price as using my old blanket and thumb, back in the day. Smiley

D-day in Bitfinex trial - Will Bitcoin price react?

Quote
ALL EYES ON MONDAY’S TRIAL OUTCOME

As previously reported by Bitcoinist, the Supreme Court of the State of New York will resume hearing on the case between the NYAG and bitcoin exchange platform Bitfinex on Monday (July 29, 2019).

A negative outcome for iFinex — the parent company of Bitfinex, could potentially open the exchange and Tether up to more lawsuits. The NYAG is accusing Bitfinex of covering up $850 million in client losses.

1240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IRS Cryptocurrency & Tax Compliance Letters sent now. 7/26/19. USA only! on: July 28, 2019, 11:15:22 PM
Not good on price if say 20% of whales suddenly have to come clean, or face consequences, in the USA, for all their crypto since 2009.

you really think this letter writing campaign will lead to that? it seems like a small scare tactic to encourage voluntary compliance without the IRS actually investigating anything or spending any money. i'm sure a good portion of american whales have already been reporting their income too.

if there's only 10k letters going out---and considering how many false positives people are reporting---they seem to be drawing on very little data and taking very little time to look into this. so far, anyway.

-------------

Only 10k letters now you mean, that is the coinbase dump from 2015-2017 that got 1099's in 2017. It would not be very hard to send out the same 2 warning only letters to anyone
who checked the business box for a business (to get eguip tax right offs) from 2009 onward. Indeed they have done such mass mailings in the past for 'clarification', it is how the IRS
gets fees and adjustments.

But no, that won't likely move the whales. But, what would move the whales would be a specific way they expect the accounting to be done, every reciept, every t crossed and i
dotted in pdf format. Actual $$$ from exchanges from CSV to the moment date time using blockchain to clean such as CSV.

If you had 100 million in BTC and did it all by hand, back in the day, you'd be like damn it, and convert to such. Perhaps you'd owe less $$$ jumping thru the hoops, but
you'd jump thru the hoops and likely if it looked like the cluster I'd expect sell some BTC as a precaution to cover such on a dump in price.

This is why, the price is flat for BTC and crypto, people are waiting to see what the 2019 IRS guidelines are for us and CPA's etc.

I don't think the NEW 2019 guidelines are gonna be any better likely worse. Probably require CVS to blockchain on every transaction and .pdf formats. i.e. 'real-accounting' Sad

i don't think they will be establishing new requirements like that. more so clarifying the existing tax code re forks, airdrops, staking, overseas accounts, etc. not sure but that's my understanding from this article.

Sorry, got a friend of a friend whose wife is IRS agent, it is going to be much more than that, so the rumors go.

They also think it is an utter pain, in that no IRS agent has much of a clue on how this all works either

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

Myself, all my stuff is hand done, so if it does come to pass to cover my butt to look over past returns in a grace period, I likely will get a fancy xerox machine

that would allow me to make copies of my stuff from 2013 onward and automatically direct 1 file to monthly/year 1 file to yearly folder 1 file to xerox.

For example equipment purchase with $$$ spent ..copy you get 1 going to a folder for that month equip and 1 going to the yearly equip 2013 folder and 1 paper

say for my real physical files. Of course, it would be a pain, and you'd have to summarize...but if the IRS gets too needy a lot of us will be cleaning up our

previous tax stuff. What would really suck is if they wanted CSV format for time and day to the exact minute off blockchain. I just pulled the daily average

over the years from an exchange like worldcoinindex or coinmarketcap. IF they track stuff that far, a lot of crypto stuff is gonna grind to a halt as folk get their

heads around this and/or catch up or double-check.

Remember the 2014 guidelines said you paid capital gains on individual BTC on the blockchain. Thus a 2009 BTC on the blockchain specific you buy a color

A TV with that for $1,000 and it cost you 25c to mine the BTC in 2009. You owe the IRS 999.75c in cap gains. The IRS also says this kinda stuff about eBay

and nothing happens....but I bet they keep that as well in the 2019 guidelines.

The IRS was forced by Congress for years to do this on a shrinking budget, they very well could make something 'undo-able' just to show Congress to either

screw off or give them a massive budget increase.

Anyway, I figure the likely hood of me having to glean thru my past tax returns and tidy them up into pdf's and double-check, etc is better than 50/50 IMHO.

the bigger whale you are the more work this will be to kinda/sorta get within compliance, even if you did try to do your best since 2013 and now.

Hope I'm dead wrong..but hey, it is the IRS and they did make a statement last time with the 2014 guidelines they released 10 days before the filing deadline.

That IMHO was pretty purposeful and a big FU back to 2009 and other clauses.

I had to scramble in those 10 days to do the mining stuff and now eligible equip deductions etc.

I doubt many whales did that back to the 2009 CPU days. This is the kinda stuff the IRS may expect you to clean your taxes up...on...now that we are a 10k BTC.

Again, but the current Trump Administration is under heavy pressure by banks, they are gonna stick it to us on compliance, I'm afraid, much more that folk expect.
